C1: News From the Pixie

A/N: Well, I'm back with a new story, with a pairing I've honestly never tried before, being Bella/Kate. There will also be a few changes to the way I do stories from now on. I will focus on one story at a time so I can give each story the time it deserves and I can make sure they're of the quality I want. This will also assure that I won't push myself too far and stay mentally sane. Uploads will also be every Wednesday. With that said, I hope you enjoy.

Bella's POV

Damn Alice and her ability to convince me to do things I really didn't want to do. I swear the Pixie must have some sort of extra power to compel me to do that. I never really wanted a birthday party, but Alice had convinced me that it would be great, and that I shouldn't even think about what Edward thought about it.

If I was very honest Edward was the last thing on my mind. He had become even more controlling and obnoxious over the last few months and I was really questioning myself on why I stayed with him, beyond the obvious reason of survival that is.

"Why so gloom little bird? I thought birthdays were a happy occasion." Victoria asked with a soft smile as she perched herself on the windowsill.

I smiled at her. "They usually are, but I have never liked birthdays to begin with. I'm more surprised to see you here so early. I had expected Edward to come and collect me, not that I mind, I always enjoy your company a lot more."

The redhead smiled at me. "I know, I have such a sparkling personality after all, but we have a bit of time before we have to go. The Pixie had a vision of you being a bit down, and since Rosalie is… otherwise engaged right now, Alice sent me to cheer you up a little."

I smiled at that. "I didn't need to know what Rose is doing right now. That's a bit too much information this early in the day, but you are right that I'm a bit down. I just question my love for Edward sometimes. He acts like my father instead of my boyfriend and it's starting to piss me off more and more with each day."

Victoria smiled and hopped down to sit down next to me. "We've all been worried about that for a while now and while I know Carlisle won't do anything to stop him, Alice is looking out for you, and I think that you will enjoy tonight, because Esme has already warned Edward that he is not welcome tonight if he is going to treat you like he has been. Esme has also invited the Denali's to come, since you're going to meet them at some point, and we figured tonight would be a good time to meet them, I heard that is where Laurent went after everything, and as for Rosalie being otherwise engaged, that is not what I meant, I heard that she was putting the finishing touches on your gift."

"I heard Alice talk about that too, but I do wonder, why did you choose to stay with us?" I asked with a smile.

Victoria smiled at that. "Because of you of course. I want to make sure you are safe after what James did to you."

I smiled and hugged her tightly. "Thank you Vicki. That means a lot to me."

"You're my sister now Bella. I will always make sure you are safe, not to mention that you remind me a lot of my actual sister." She said with a smile.

"Then I will try to be the best sister ever." I said with a similar smile.

Victoria smiled at that. "You already are and that's why I am confident to to tell you this. You know that vampires have mates, and I know for a fact that Edward isn't yours, no matter how much he claims to be. Alice has seen that tonight you will find yours, but the who confuses me a little."

"Alice said the same not a couple of hours ago, and I have known that I am a lesbian for a long time now, but I just know Edward will absolutely lose his shit when I break up with him, not to mention what my father will say." I said softly.

"It's okay Bella, Edward won't do anything as long as I'm around, and I think he wouldn't want to piss of your mate as well, because apparently she has a very special gift, but please don't tell Alice I told you this much already, she wanted it to be a surprise."

I smiled at her. "I'll be very surprised Vicki, because I am sure I won't feel the same as a vampire feels when they find their mate."

"Is that what he told you? He lied, because a human will know instantly when they find their mate, it's an instinctual response for vampires and humans alike, it is not something neither of you will be able to control, and that was my first clue to see that he is not your mate, but rather that you're his singer, and that is a very dangerous road he is on, because a singer bond will always end in death." Victoria said uncharacteristically serious.

"I know, Alice told me, which is why I am so careful around him and try to avoid him as much as possible these days, and I honestly am a bit scared on what will happen tonight. He won't take me finding my mate well." I said softly.

She smiled and pressed a kiss to my cheek. "Except for Carlisle, everyone will protect you Bella, and trust me when I say that Edward is no match for your mate, she's at least ten times his age and thus way stronger."

"Since Edward is still a seventeen year old boy, and always will be that old, it's not that hard to be older than him, but I get your meaning. I do wonder what my mate is like." I said with a soft smile.

"From what I've heard from Alice and Rosalie, she's a bit of a wildcard, but fiercely loyal and a perfect mix of your other sisters. She's as beautiful as Rosalie, don't tell her I said that by the way, and she is as crazy as Alice, but without the need to go shopping every day, so I'd say she'll be perfect fit for you, but since I haven't met them either, I can't tell you much else about them. For once I'm going in as blind as you." She said with a smile.

I just smiled at her. "At least you know one of them, since Laurent is probably coming. I even don't know him that well."

"I have a feeling you will little bird. Now let's go, we can take our time getting to the house. We don't even have to run if you don't want to, but Alice did ask if you could leave your truck at home." Victoria said with a smile.

I smiled and nodded as I grabbed the bag Alice had told me to bring, since my outfit was already there before I followed Victoria outside, after which I climbed onto her back, and once she made sure I was both secure and comfortable she took off at a leisurely pace through the forest.

Kate's POV

I don't know why we were invited to this party, but Alice and Esme had insisted on it, and one does not simply turn down Esme. She could be downright scary at times, and I had also learned never to bet against Alice, if she asked us to come, we would go and visit our extended family and meet Edward's supposed mate, even though most of us doubted the truth of that, mostly because of what Laurent had told us about their interactions.

"So Laurent, tell me about this girl. I'm awfully curious." I said with a smile as we ran.

He smiled at me. "There's not much I can tell you Kate. It's not like we had time to talk while James was trying to get a rise out of the Cullens. All I do know is that boy is not her mate. She does not show any signs of love or affection commonly associated with the mating bond, and he especially does not show those signs. He acts like she is his singer and not his mate."

I nearly stumbled at that. "Are you sure, because this might cause issues if Carlisle knows this, which I am sure he does."

"We all know Carlisle always favors Edward in everything, but we'll see what happens tonight at the party, and I don't think I have to tell you that I expect everyone to be on their best behavior." Tanya said with her usual smile.

"Yes Mom, we'll behave." Irina said teasingly.

Tanya glared at her. "I wasn't worried about you Irina. You'll be too busy with your mate anyway. I was mostly talking to our youngest sister. I know you have a penchant to be mischievous, and I want to try and not scare the human shitless, no matter what we might think of her mate, or supposed mate. I still have my doubts on that."

I smiled at her. "I'll behave Tanya, I promise. I wouldn't want Esme to throw my ass back to Alaska, and I think we all have our doubts on the girl being his mate, because honestly, which girl in her right mind would want to be mated to the most uptight vampire in history."

We all shared a laugh at that. "Uptight is the right word. I've never seen someone so emotionally pent up as Edward, which is not a surprise with his need to know everything and combined with his gift it's a small wonder he is so broody and uptight." Irina said with her usual smirk.

"Yes, and I don't think I have to tell you that it is imperative that we all shield our thoughts from him. We wouldn't want to have Edward in our heads at any point." Tanya said matter of factually.

"Well duh. I don't want him prodding inside my head, because I doubt he will like what he hears in there." Irina said with a roll of her eyes.

I couldn't help but laugh at that as we finally crossed the border into America. "I do wonder what Alice meant when she said that she had a surprise for me in particular."

"If you could wait a few minutes to explain, I gladly will." Alice said as she came running up to meet us.

"Then do Pixie, because it really sounded like a threat of bodily harm if we didn't come today." Tanya said with a smile.

Alice giggled at that. "Oh there will be bodily harm today, but not in the way I made it seem. I just had a vision and I figured it might be best to give fate a push in the right direction, because both Tanya and Kate will find their mates today. I have made sure to send Victoria to Bella's house to get her ready and explain a few things up front, but neither of them know the full vision I had. Kate, your mate is Bella, and I have seen that Edward will go off the handle, but she will be safe with you. Victoria is Tanya's mate, and I ask you to try and contain the urges until after the party." She said with her usual bright smile.

To say that I was shocked was probably the understatement of the century. "A human mate? That wasn't even on the list of possibilities. What do I say to her? Can I hurt her with my gift. I won't ever forgive myself I accidentally hurt her."

"Calm down Kate. It'll be fine. Edward can't read her and Jasper can only somewhat alter her emotions. My visions seem to work, because that's because I believe she is letting me. I am pretty sure you won't be able to hurt her, but just in case, keep your gift at the lowest voltage." Alice said kindly.

"I will, but how will this develop? Have you seen anything?" I asked softly, hugging myself to process everything.

She smiled at me. "I have, and don't worry, you won't be apart, because I know how that hurts, and while I haven't seen specifics, I have seen that you won't be apart, but if that'll be that you will move here or Bella moves to Denali, I don't know. Now, let's go, I presume you want to change before the party."

We nodded and followed the Pixie through the forest, and for the first time in a very long time I was a little bit nervous about what tonight would bring.

Bella's POV

When Victoria and I arrived to the house, the Pixie was noticeably absent, and I was quickly ushered to Rosalie's bedroom, after giving Esme a hug of course, because that was our thing every time I came over.

She had really taken over the role of my mother and I knew she loved it every time I called her 'Mom' and I really don't know how I would've emotionally survived the past couple of months without her.

Of course Rosalie was grinning like a mad woman when Victoria almost literally pushed me into the blonde's room. "Good afternoon Bells. I hope you're ready to be dolled up, because the Pixie gave me very specific instructions."

I smiled at her as I hugged her, something that I thought would've been impossible a couple of months ago. "You know me Rose. I'm never ready to get dolled up, but I'm glad it's you doing the dolling up instead of Alice."

Rosalie smiled at me. "I can understand, the Pixie can be a bit demanding at times. I know you don't like to dress up, but I promise for this once I is going to be worth it. I even talked Alice down from getting you four inch heels in favor of some nice flats."

I smiled at that. "Thanks Rose, I don't think I can pull off heels just yet."

She smiled and nodded. "We won't ask that of you, no matter how much Alice may pout. I'll teach you how to fight those. Besides, you have Victoria to help you with that too, now let's get you dressed, Alice chose the perfect dress for you, which will be one that will not show too much, since I know you're a bit self conscious about some parts of your body."

I blushed a little as she handed me the dress and ushered me into the bathroom. "Don't dawdle Bella, I still have to do your make-up too." She said before closing the door.

I grumbled a little but quickly changed, mostly because I was excited about meeting the Denali's today, and more specifically my mate, even though I knew nothing about her, besides the fact that she was blonde and one of the three sisters.

Of course the dress Alice had picked out fit me like a glove and I had to admit that I liked the effect it had. It surely had an effect on my self confidence, I really had never felt like a woman more than today, since I usually preferred more boyish clothes and I wondered if that was part of the reason Edward had found me attractive.

I dared another glance in the mirror and smiled at what I saw before walking back into the room. "Wow, I knew Alice had chosen well, but this is not what I expected. You look great Bella."

I blushed a little at that. "Thanks Rose, I'll be honest and say that I never felt more feminine in my life."

"We know you're a bit of a tomboy Bella, and it is a very good look for you, but we'll make you see the advantages of dressing a bit more feminine every once in a while. It will work wonders for your mate when you meet her tonight." Rosalie said with a smile.

"Does everyone know already? I thought Alice had only told Victoria." I said softly as I took a seat at Rosalie's vanity.

She smiled as she pulled my hair back. "She did, I just happened to come out of the garage when she said it, so I overheard, and maybe Esme did too since she was in the kitchen, and Alice figured it was a good idea that I would like to inform you on your mate a bit, since she is escorting them to the house. They can't cross the treaty line after all."

I smiled at that. "Good, I really thought I was the only one that Alice didn't say anything to."

Rosalie smiled at me. "Trust me that she didn't want to keep you in the dark Bella. It's just a bit of a clusterfuck because we couldn't risk Edward hearing anything about this in our thoughts. He will flip a lid when he finds out tonight and it will not be a pretty sight, but know that we will all protect you if it gets dangerous."

"I've known for a while that Edward and I were never going to work in the long run. He's just so controlling. He's suffocating me more and more every single day. I just don't know how to end it with him without him ending me." I said softly.

Rosalie smiled at me. "I don't want to say that I told you so, but I did tell you that Edward wasn't right for you, but it also wasn't your fault. He dazzled you from the first moment and unfortunately there was nothing we could do, but all will be well tonight. I honestly think you and Kate will be perfect for each other."

"It would help if I knew a little bit about her. Vicki only got as far as saying that she was a mix between you and Alice." I said softly.

Rosalie smiled at that. "How about I do your make-up first and I'll tell you about Kate while I'm doing that. They'll be here soon, and Alice will probably have my hide if you're not ready on time."

I smiled at her. "And here I thought that you were the Queen of multitasking." I said teasingly.

She smirked at me. "Careful now little sister, otherwise I might just wait for Alice to come back and then she can do your make-up."

"No I'll behave, please don't send the Pixie after me. She'll force me into those heels anyway, just to spite me." I said quickly.

Rosalie smiled at me. "Good girl, now sit still while I tell you about your mate. Kate is the youngest of the three sisters, and definitely the most free spirited as well. They all have the reputation of being Succubi, but that is not true, at least not the full truth. It was just that in their thousand years they've had a bit more bedpartners then the regular vampire. Kate actually has a gift that she can shock people with electricity, but we are all pretty sure it won't affect you, much like Edward's gift doesn't affect you, that and the mate bond of course. As for the comparison to Alice and I, Victoria has a point in that. She's certainly as beautiful as me, and she is nearly as excitable as Alice, but knows how to regulate that excitement, so to speak, and on top of that she is very caring and protective."

I smiled at her. "She sounds perfect, but if we're mated, that doesn't surprise me. Everything you and Alice have told me about mates is so different from what Edward told me, that I'm starting to believe that he lied about everything."

"He did, and that's why Alice, Victoria and I have always told you the truth, and we will continue to do that forever, because I have a feeling you will be a vampire sooner than we thought." Rosalie said with a soft smile.

I smiled at that. "And you're okay with that? I know you had some issues with me being turned."

She smiled at me. "I was only against it because it was Edward who said he was going to turn you, but he couldn't do that because you are his singer and he would've drained you, and as long as I was against you being turned, it wouldn't happen. Now however, I know it's going to be Kate who is going to turn you, and I am more than fine with that. You see, when we are turned, we develop a Bond with that person, it's one of the many reasons why I stuck around with Esme after she turned me. She is in every sense of the word my mother, and I can't leave her, because Carlisle isn't really what he seems. He is almost as bad as Edward with his controlling ways. The only reason any of us stick around is because of Esme."

I nodded at that, needing to process this new information before I could answer that, because this suddenly made a lot more sense.

Kate's POV

By the time we arrived at the mansion, the boys were putting up the final decorations, and to my surprise Edward wasn't even here, and neither was Carlisle it seemed, and of course Esme was there to welcome us, with her usual bright smile. "Welcome back everyone. I hope you had a good trip?"

"We did Esme, thank you, but I am surprised to not see Carlisle here." Tanya said with a smile.

Esme smiled at her. "Carlisle has taken Edward out into the woods to hunt and talk to him about his behavior as of late, although I doubt it will help. Alice, could you see if Rosalie is done doing your sister's make-up?"

The Pixie nodded and smiled as she flitted upstairs. "Alice mentioned a few things that kind of shocked us, no pun intended, but I'm more than okay with taking it all at her pace, Esme, I want you to know that." I said softly, knowing the protective urges of the matron.

"I know Kate, and I have a feeling that Bella will make her intentions clear very soon. When Edward is not around she is quite spunky, but I will make it clear that Bella and I are very close and she needs a mother in her life, because her birth mother is a real piece of work that I still resent to my very core." Esme said seriously.

I nodded and smiled at her. "We'll think of something, maybe we could build a house close by instead of moving back to Denali. It would make things easier for everyone."

Esme smiled at that. "We can talk about that later. Tonight is for Bella, and I will not have her birthday ruined by anyone, especially not my son and spineless husband."

Tanya smiled at her. "We won't let that happen Esme, you have our word, but I do have to ask, how old is the girl now?"

"She turned eighteen, so it is a very important birthday for her." Esme said with a soft smile.

I smiled at that. "That's good news, I wouldn't want to break any laws, but we should be careful, because you know while all of us are in good favor with the Volturi, we wouldn't want to rock the boat too much. My mother in particular expects us to follow the rules."

Esme smiled at me. "Don't worry Kate, I've taken care of it already. I personally called Sulpicia today and let her know what was going on, she already knows that we can't turn her yet, and she understood. Your mother knows too. They merely asked to be kept up to date of the situation."

I nodded gratefully at her. "I'm glad for that. I wouldn't want to explain to my mother why I haven't turned my mate yet. I'll give her a call soon to personally tell her everything that is going to happen tonight."

"Sulpicia figured you would. Athenodora is over the moon that you have finally found your mate, but I've kept you long enough, please enjoy, and Tanya. I hope we can talk for a bit. We have a lot to talk about."

Tanya nodded at her. "Of course Esme. Do you want to talk now?"

Esme nodded at her as they walked outside, leaving the rest of us to stand around a bit awkwardly. "Well, I'm going to freshen up and change. I want to look good for my mate."

Irina and Laurent smiled at me. "Go do that Kate, we'll see if we can help with anything."

I nodded and quickly flashed into the downstairs bathroom, taking the dress I had brought out of my purse. "I really hope you'll like this, because this is certainly the best that I have, my love." I said softly.

I then quickly changed and checked my make-up, touching up where I needed to, and once I felt I was sufficiently prepared I walked back out, and apparently it wasn't a moment too soon, because coming down the stairs was the most beautiful creature I had ever had the pleasure of laying eyes on.
