I'd like to thank the authors of Fangs of Night and Love or Lust for inspiring me to write this. I don't own star fox, but I do own any original characters created for this story. They can be used with my permission.

Locked in the arms of death

Five months after Fox's death, Krystal finds comfort in the arms of a young dhampir. Soon her world is turned upside down when she leaves Star Falco and joins him and his teammates who hunt vampires all across the Lylat system.

Two years after Star Fox: Assault

Krystal sat at the barstool of a small bar in a seedy part of Corneria City and took a sip of her drink. It was a quiet Friday night, and she had noticed the bar was very quiet except for a few patrons. The red-orange vulpine bartender was busy drying off a beer glass, and he was the only bartender there. The bar was usually quiet around this time. No doubt since the bar was located in a seedy part of town and only a few rough people were the patrons. She kept her blaster in her purse beside for protection. Two years had past since the Aparoid threat had been destroyed, and the city of Corneria has been rebuilt by the Cornerian Government Krystal had decided to step off the Great Fox II for a while and go for a drink down on Corneria. She took a sip of beer from her beer glass and placed it back down on the barcounter.

"A second beer, ma'am?" The bartender asked

"Yes, please," Krystal replied

The bartender refilled her glass and returned it to her. Krystal took a sip of it and sighed. She wore a pink, long-sleeve shirt, a pair of blue denim jeans, and tennis shoes. She let her hair grow out down to her waist, plus she had dark-blue makeup on. She glanced at the clock hanging on the wall above a young, but handsome white-furred male vulpine patron in the corner of the bar area. It was late and she decided to head home for the night. She got up with her purse and left the bar after paying for her drinks. Because it was October, it was very cold so she slipped her denim jacket on. She began to head for her apartment a few blocks down the street.

As soon as krystal got to her block, she heard a faint noise in the alleyway.

"Who's there?" She shouted as she stared down the alleyway.

A tall, male vampire stood up from the shadows facing her with a demonic stare. Its glowing blood-red eyes pierced her soul as it grinned at her bearing two long-sharp front canines. The creature began to approach Krystal, who pulled out her blaster from her purse and fired a few shots. To her horror, the blasts had no affect on the monster, who dissapated then appeared behind her with an arm around her neck.

"Dammit, I wish Fox was still here," Krystal thought as she tried to fight the vampire off by punching, pushing and kicking but to no avail, knowing Fox was killed in an explosion during a convoy escort mission on Macbeth a year ago.

Both of them were per occupied at the moment that they failed to noticed another figure in the shadows was walking towards them. The vampire was about to make his mark on Krystal's neck when a white flashlight shined on them.

"Don't even think about it, bloodsucker!" The figure shouted as he lunged at the undead.

Krystal backed away into a corner of the alley and watched the mysterious figure, which had turned out to be the same white-furred vulpine she saw at the bar. What stunned her was that she saw him lift the undead creature above his head and threw it into a brick wall. No mortal could do that.

"Bye, bloodsucker!" The vulpine said as he drew out his blade and mercilessly swiped its head clean off by bringing it down to its neck, causing it to disentigrate into dust.

"Another one bites the dust," The vulpine said to himself as he placed his blade back into its scabbier and began to approach Krystal, who was sitting in a corner of the alleyway in fear.

Krystal gulped and mentally readied herself for any harm he might do to her as he faced. Instead, he knelt down to her.

"Are you all right?" He asked her

Krystal looked at him and nodded. She also knew this was also the same tenant who lived in the same apartment building as she did. He wore an opened black leather motorcycle vest with nothing underneath, a pair of black leather pants held up by a black leather belt, and motorcycle boots. He had a silm, athletic build, and thick backlength snowy white hair

"How did you know I was in trouble?" Krystal asked

"I sensed that vampire was about to strike," The vulpine replied, "I had to move fast and find him before he attacks any innocent people. You're Krystal, who live in the same apartment bulding as I do. The female member of Star Falco,"

"Yes I am," Krystal replied, "But I'm not with Star Falco anymore,"

The vulpine stood up and reached down to her. She had been working as an instructor at the Cornerian Flight Academy since Fox died.

"Come on," He said, "I'll walk you to your apartment, if you'd like,"

Krystal reluctantly took his hand and stood up. The two of them walked up to the end of the alley and towards the main street. They walked a few blocks down the street until they approached their apartment building across the road from the beach and boardwalk. They headed up to the door of Krystal's apartment and Krystal opened it, then walked through the doorway. She turned and faced him

"By the way," She said to him, "Thanks for saving me back in that alley."

"No problem," He said with a hand out to her again, "The name's Kevin Jackson."

Again, Krystal hesitantly took his hand and shook it. Kevin moved her hand up to his mouth and kissed it. She blushed when he did this.

The two exchanged 'goodnights', then went their own ways. Kevin went up to his aparment on the floor above, while Krystal closed her apartment door and laid down on the couch in her livingroom. It was just her and Katt Munroe as her roommate, who had gone to bed for the night. Tears formed in her eyes as memories of Fox crept into her mind. She loved him, and missed him alot. Hopefully Kevin would make a good mate. Despite handsome and flattering, he seemed like a nice guy after he saved her. But she began to wonder what was he exactly when she saw him drink beer at the bar. She grabbed the remote control and turned to the 11pm news.
