Voltage Between Us
"Thor... are you sure this is nice weather for camping?" Jane squinted at the stormy clouds as the couple unpacked their supplies on the spot they decided to set up camp.
Thor chuckled as he looked up at the sky, "Of course. There's a reason I chose this time to go camping. But its a surprise, so you'll have to wait and see." He emphasized with a wink.
"Fine. But if I get soaked its your fault." Jane began looking around for the best spot to set up their tent.
"I'll keep that in mind." Thor wiggled his eyebrows suggestively.
"Not like that. Well... maybe later. But not until I find out what your angle is."
"Don't worry Jane, my angle will surely please you." Thor chuckled as he spoke. Jane narrowed her eyes at him briefly before chuckling along with him. They took a bit of time to set up the tent. Once that was done Thor looked up at the sky again, "Ok, its looking good. Should we go to the lake now?"
Jane only raised an eyebrow, "You wanna go right now? It looks like its about to rain soon."
"Exactly. You can't get soaked by the rain if you're already wet." Thor picked up his backpack, giving Jane a charming smile and offering her his hand to take.
Jane rolled her eyes, "You're lucky I love you." She took his hand and they began walking in the direction of the lake.
"Indeed I am." Thor bent down to place a kiss on Jane's cheek.
The walk to the lake was mostly quiet, occasionally accompanied by distant sounds of thunder and lightning. When they arrived at the lake Thor was the first one to change into his swimming trunks and jump head first into the lake. He stayed underwater for a few minutes before surfacing. When he came up he grinned at Jane.
"Are you just trying to show off?" Jane asked as she changed into her swimsuit.
"Maybe. Now come in, the water's amazing."
Jane ran into the lake, "Its freezing!" Jane wrapped her arms around herself.
"Its not that bad when you get use to it." Thor swam up to Jane and wrapped her in a tight hug. He rubbed his hands over her arms and back to warm her up quicker, "Better?"
"Yeah." Jane hugged Thor back as he lead them deeper into the lake until the were floating next to each other but still holding hands.
They spent quite a while in the lake until it started raining, "I told you it would rain."
They swam out to the shore and dried off. Another crack of thunder was heard, much closer this time. Thor looked excited but also nervous at the same time. Jane watched him out of the corner of her eye as they changed into dry clothes. Every time thunder would strike she could swear she could see a little spark in his eyes. Like he was a battery getting charged up.
The thunder struck again, very close now, "Ok, its time." Thor said as he reached into his backpack and took out Mjölnir and something that Jane didn't catch a good view of. He took of into the sky and met a thunder bolt as it struck. Once it passed trough him he floated down, thunder crackling around him as he approached.
He approached Jane, set Mjölnir on the ground, took a deep breath and got down on one knee. Jane gasped, her eyes starting to tear up, "Jane Foster will you make me the happiest god in existence, and be my wife?"
"Yes... yes I will!" Jane jumped onto Thor and wrapped her arms around his neck. Thor hugged her back with his free hand. Once Jane pulled back Thor put the ring on her finger.
Jane finally got a good look at the ring. It was a dark silver cover and it looked like it had a thunder bolt dancing across it.
"I wanted to make this ring special. There's real thunder in it, so you always have me with you." Thor smiled widely.
"That's why you wanted to wait." Jane whipped away the tears that escaped her eyes. Thor did the same with his own tears before hugging Jane again. Jane hummed contently into Thor's chest.
The rain never stopped but Jane found that she didn't care anymore.
