The crowd jostled Piper, pushing her in the direction the crowd waves were going. Piper resisted the urge to just stop moving with the crowd and to stand there, though she couldn't resist the flow of the current unless she wanted to get trampled. Piper seeing an opening to get away from the crowd entered a little shop.
Her heart was drumming against her ribs and for the first time in the past five minutes, she felt like she could breathe. There was a lone table in the middle of the room, and grease and mechanical parts took up the entirety of the room. Piper needed to think, so she filtered all the unnecessary thoughts out of her brain.
It felt like a dream at first, but then it became reality. She and the seven were at the beach, nothing out of the ordinary happened there. They then parted and then went to their respective cabins. Piper had a gut feeling that something was going to happen, but everything seemed fine, so she ignored it, assuming it was just her being paranoid that nothing bad happened in a while. She had a dream that she was in a new place, there were a lot of people, Piper walked into the crowd, but then her dream started to feel real as if she was actually there and awake.
There were no warnings, just a happy night with her friends and the gut feeling that she stupidly ignored. Why her out of all people? She was the least powerful. The only good thing about her going on a quest is that the others could have a break. Wait. If this was a quest then why wasn't there a prophecy. There were always prophecies. Even if only one god assigned this quest to her, there should still be a prophecy. There was when Hera made the quest for the seven. Piper sighed rubbing her temples. First, she needed to find some way to survive. She was in an unknown city, possibly on a different planet and she didn't even know her purpose for coming here.
Her thoughts became disarray when a loud laugh entered the shop. She looked up to see a girl, possibly 16 years old, with someone behind her. The woman suddenly stopped seeing there was another inhabitant in the shop other than herself and the man beside her.
"Do you need anything fixed?" The woman asked in a kind voice. Piper shook her head, asking something about her situation instead.
"Where am I?" The woman glanced at the man, surprised.
"You're in New Beijing" The man answered. Piper's eyes widened, and she froze. She was halfway across the world. By herself. Without a prophecy or anything to help her.
"What's your name?" The woman asked softly sensing her internal battles. Piper narrowed her eyes. The duo in front of her could possibly be an enemy, but without any guidance, she didn't have a way to find out.
"Piper, and yours?" Piper said, smiling nervously.
"I'm Cinder, and this is Kai."
