IMPORTANT NOTICE!
I plan to make this a dumpsite of all sad/dark/random/cliffhanger plots I can think of. Each update will be a different universe, so expect the Dramione dynamic to change in every chapter.
If you're easily affected by written works, have very strong principles, or have a fixed idea of how Draco and Hermione should act, then this work might not be for you.
I'll put a short summary at the beginning of each work, and will only add important tags (trigger warnings if necessary). I'm starting this mainly because I have WAY too many ideas, but have no desire to write another long fic.
Welcome to the Dark Side :)

It's been five years since Draco Malfoy eluded incarceration.
"Freeze!"
"Wand on the ground now!"
"Don't move!"
"Hands where we can see them!"
Hermione had her wand trained on the lone wizard sitting in the middle of an abandoned muggle warehouse, casually drinking tea. She watched him roll his eyes, bringing down his cup while wordlessly blocking off spells aimed right at him.
"Ladies, gentlemen… Must we behave like animals?"
Hermione said nothing, staying in position as they closed in on him from all angles. She steadied her breath, spaced out her blinks, and made sure she had all her senses trained on him.
They couldn't lose him again.
It's been five years since the war ended. It's been five years since Narcissa and Lucius Malfoy had been assassinated during their transport to Azkaban. It's been five years since former Death Eaters started dying off one by one at the hands of an unknown killer.
It's been five years since Draco Malfoy eluded incarceration.
Hermione shifted her glance towards the mauled corpse sitting right next to the Malfoy heir; a porcelain cup full of tea balancing on one thigh. His face was bashed in beyond recognition, a full arm was missing, and a gaping hole was on his chest; but he had been arranged to look like a guest coming over for afternoon tea. She swallowed down the bile inching up her throat. She didn't need to get a closer look to know who it was.
Antonin Dolohov. The last unaccounted Death Eater.
"I've been expecting you lot five minutes ago. Why is it that justice always seems to arrive fashionably late?" He sighed dramatically, scanning the group of Aurors surrounding him. "Scratch that. We can't exactly call those garbs fashionable now, can we?" He placed his cup back to its saucer on the stone floor.
"You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law." Hermione began reading his rights, ignoring the wide grin he directed at her.
"Granger! There you are! I was wondering when you'd show. So glad you got my owl."
She ignored his baiting, knowing for a fact that it was how he operated. Harry and Ron never failed to fall for it every damn time; but she was better. Smarter. She had no idea why the hell he had chosen to send her a letter detailing his whereabouts; but there was no way she would let a chance like this slip away.
"You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be provided for you."
"Now that is just offensive." He snorted at her, taking a strawberry tart off a platter of desserts, munching on it absentmindedly. "Do you honestly believe I can't pay for my own solicitor?"
"Do you understand the rights I have just read to you? With these rights in mind, do you wish to speak to me?"
"I've been speaking to you from the very beginning, Granger. And yes, I do understand them. You've read them to me a thousand times already." He waved his wand offhandedly in the air as he offered her an empty cup. "Tea?"
"Expelliarmus!" She blinked in surprise when her magic connected, leaving him unarmed. Several stunning spells, and binding spells started lashing out in the air, successfully pinning him to the ground.
After years of chasing after him… After years of evading capture… Never in her life did she think she would be the one to bring him in.
She's dreamt of this moment for so long. Thought of all the things she's been wanting to scream at him the moment she finally had him cuffed and dragged behind bars. But never in her life did she imagine she would feel…
"Don't look at me like that, Granger." He chuckled. "You're making me think you care."
She blinked at his animated form. Hadn't he been stunned? She watched him smirk at her before biting into something in his mouth, swallowing it down before she could reach him. Her hands hung in midair.
"Be seeing you, Granger. Or maybe not? Where I'm going isn't a place for your kind after all."
She scrambled to her knees, trying her best to pry his mouth open; but he fought against her. After several more seconds, she knew it was too late. She grabbed him by the lapels of his suit, shaking him furiously. "You bloody idiot! What the hell did you take?!"
"I'm dying here in your arms, and the only thing you can think to do is curse at me?"
"What the hell did you take?!" She eyed him in desperation, but a wink was all she got as a reply. "You damn fucking moron…"
"I heard you the first time, Granger." He rolled his eyes. "I have to say… I will miss this. Your relentless pursuit of me. My–" He paused to grimace; chest stuttering as he forced a swallow down his throat. "My persistent denial of your courtship. People who come on too strong just aren't my type, you see." He chuckled.
Hermione released the iron grip she had on him when he started coughing. She placed an arm around his shoulders; one hand against his chest to steady him. She called for a healer when he started spitting out blood.
"Would you look at that, Granger?" He jutted his chin towards the stain on the sleeve of her Auror robes. "All that fighting, only to see that my blood and yours are the same after all."
"Malfoy, just shut up." She eased him down against her gingerly, undoing the binding charms all over him. "Help is on the way–"
"Still hoping to save me, Granger?" He shook his head. "What for? Waiting for me to finally swoon over you?"
She huffed in exasperation when he gave her a wide grin; his teeth dyed red. "Malfoy, for once just–"
"Are you… crying?" He blinked up at her. The smile wiped off his face almost instantly. "Careful, Granger… or else I really will think you care." He scoffed in disbelief, quickly turning into heavy, hacking coughs.
She started muttering several healing charms, knowing for a fact that they had no effect on poison whatsoever; but she had to do something.
"Come now, Granger." He rolled his eyes. "Don't ruin your 'brightest witch of her age' title." He started wheezing, needing more effort to talk. "Though I have to say… I never thought I had… enough luck left in my life… Dying with my head between your thighs? What a way to go indeed!" He laughed out loud, but only ended up choking on more blood.
"Malfoy!"
"You know… I thought this would be a less… painful way to go…" He panted. "May have overdid it…" He grinned. "Wanted to be sure…"
"Just tell me what the hell you took!" She scanned the amusement on his face in aggravation. "You can't– There's no way– You aren't–"
"Oh hush, Granger… I had this coming… It's way overdue…" He sighed out loud, staring up at her tiredly. "At least… At least I got to choose how I go…"
"Shut up, Malfoy! Just shut up!" She called out to her team, demanding for the healer, but there was still no word.
"Let it go, Granger… You can't save everyone…" He reached out to tuck a lock of hair behind her ear. "Some of us don't want to be saved."
Her breath hitched at the uncharacteristic display of affection. For all the people he's killed… For all the cruelty he's shown… His fingers were…
They were so gentle.
"You're not dying! I'm not letting you!
He scoffed out a weak laugh. "Gryffindors…" He muttered under his breath, shaking his head as he blinked sluggishly at the ceiling.
"Malfoy! Don't you dare close your eyes, you hear me?! Wake the fuck–"
"The healer is here!"
She waved the elderly woman over quickly. "Malfoy, everything's going to be okay now. There's–" She stopped breathing when her eyes landed on the small smile on his face.
She didn't have to watch the healer flick her wand to reveal his vitals. She didn't need to see the flat line that the charms eventually displayed. There was no point for the healer to attempt to rennervate him anymore. The expression on his face was all the proof she needed.
She's never seen him look so… peaceful. And it was in that exact moment that she knew.
He was gone.
The end!
Starting this whole collection off with a character death because… I can.
Here's to darker themes in the future! Cheers :)
