Tex was watching Caboose on one of their common walks. However, this time will have an interesting outcome.
Tex and Caboose fall into a massive cave system after the ground collapses beneath them. When they wake up, they try to move before their grogginess causes them to fall back onto the floor. Tex manages to bring herself onto a rock. She watches Caboose stand up with a groan, walk over to her, pick her up, and carry her bridal style. He quickly started running as the cave began to collapse.
"Caboose. Just leave me. Save yourself." Tex begged Caboose.
After the hulking blue armored man entered a large cavern, he walked up to the supposed entrance. When he set Tex down on the ground, she stared up at him. Before long, they heard growling from every direction except behind them.
When Tex managed to get over her own pain and stupor, she saw Caboose's military style platinum blond hair and deep blue eyes which shocked her. She screamed loudly when she saw a beast tackle the big blue blond. She couldn't move her body as great fear set in. She could only watch as the "idiot" fought so desperately for her, tearing the beasts apart with his muscles. By the time the creatures found some sense of fear, Caboose was bleeding profusely.
"Tex! You okay!?!" Caboose asked in a highly serious manner and in a whispered tone as he knelt in front of Tex. "Fuck!" Caboose cursed surprising the robot woman.
"Caboose... your legs! They're bleeding!" Tex shouted in fear knowing that she could just be repaired.
"Oh...that...Hehe. Aw shit. That's deep, so deep." Caboose whispered as he sat beside Tex.
"Just let let me..." Tex began as she finally managed to move.
"No, Tex. Just don't." Caboose whispered with a heavy sigh.
"Wh-What? Why?" Tex asked.
"Listen Tex. I've made so many damn mistakes." Caboose says with a light gasp as he looks up at the ceiling of the cavern with tears running down his cheeks. "One of them was joining Project Freelancer. I was so hopelessly naïve and optimistic. I thought I was signing up for college. You know, my oldest sister, Clara, is a doctor. A military surgeon. She was stationed on harvest when the attack came. She was found by marines that arrived with the Spirit of Fire. She was wearing an Insurrection Era marine BDU. She still wears it to this day as a Combat Field Surgeon. She sews wounds in the field. I wanted to be a surgeon like her so much, and now she won't even know I died."
Tex sighed as her hand took hold of Caboose's.
"I've made many mistakes too. I've killed so many people." Tex began.
"And I just killed so many alien animals, so I guess that makes us similar." Caboose says before coughing and groaning.
"Yeah, I guess we're just right for each other." Tex whispered as she laid her head on Caboose's metal shoulder.
"Hey, if I die...could you take my body back to my family?" Caboose asked.
"Yeah." Tex said.
"Promise?" Caboose asked with a smile and a chuckle.
"Mhm." Tex said.
"Hey...there's my grandma." Caboose whispered in his childlike voice as Tex turned to him. "I love you, Tex. Tucker did it." Caboose said after turning to her allowing her to gaze into his eyes as the light and innocence left them.
Flash
Caboose ran towards the light with a smile as he appears in front of a pearl gate.
"Ha! Yes!" Caboose cheered before realizing that he was dead. "Ha. Yes." Caboose repeated in a more depressed tone.
As he walked up to the angel at the reception desk, he gave her a bewildered look.
"Hey, Michael J. Caboose." Caboose said.
The angel looked up and a expression of expectance. "Welcome. Come with me, Michael. The Lord has wants to meet with you."
Michael followed the angel until they came to a massive mansion.
"God doesn't disappoint." Caboose said with a chuckle.
"Thanks, kiddo." God said with a smile as he walked up to the angel and Caboose. "Thanks for bringing him to me Gabriel."
"No problem." Gabriel said before giving Caboose a hug. "Never stop being yourself, okay, kiddo?" Gabriel whispered into Caboose's ear.
"Come with me, Michael." God said as Gabriel left.
As the duo walk, Caboose thinks about Tex.
"Your thoughts remain on the female robot." God says observantly.
"Yeah. She's every memory of Leonard Church's wife put into an AI and stuffed into a metal body, trapping her soul inside." Caboose said with a deep sorrow.
"Oh wow...you have a pretty interesting grasp of the situation." God said impressed.
"Sorry, I grew up as a Protestant Baptist and watched alotta Sci-Fi movies." Caboose said with a smile.
"That you did. That you did. So what are you going to do about her?" God asked curiously.
"Only one thing." Caboose said.
"What you're thinking of is weirdly not fucked up if you think about it." God said with a chuckle.
"But you can do it?" Caboose asks.
"Psh. Can I do it?" God said confidently before snapping his fingers.
"What's that..." Caboose asked before disappearing.
With Tex
Tex felt her entire body tingle as her armor slowly shattered in a blinding light. When She came to, she found herself with skin and long platinum blonde hair. When she stood up, she watched her armor reform on her body. She turned to Caboose as tears welled up in her eyes once more. She smiled and stared at his body before feeling a warm feeling in her heart. When she looked at her helmet, she checked its memory bank and found that Caboose's last words were still on it. She sighed in relief and called the rest of the group and more importantly, her daughter.
"Hey guys, it's Tex. I'm activating my beacon." Tex said before her entire personality changed.
When everyone arrived, they stopped and stared at Caboose and Tex.
"You bitch! You came all the way back just to kill him!?!" Washington shouted angrily.
"No I didn't. I came back to make sure he wasn't lonely." Tex, now seeing herself as Allison, said taking off her helmet to reveal her new Humanity.
Carolina stared at the woman in front of her, tears welling up in her eyes. Everyone's eyes widened in surprise.
"I came back to make sure the man that I cared about felt happy and safe so he wouldn't kill himself like your father." Allison said angrily.
"Mom..." Carolina said.
"I know. It was all because of me, everything that all of you went through. If any of you want to kill me, could you give me the courtesy of telling me how the Great War Ended?"
"We won, at great cost." Carolina said.
"How many fell?" Allison asked.
"Over twenty-eight billion Human souls." Washington said glumly.
"Well, you can take me from that number, cause I never really died." Allison said.
"So what were his last words?" Tucker asked.
"You can watch them." Allison said giving Tucker the data chip containing the footage. "I'm sending him back to his family."
Later
A UNSC marine company arrived to find Allison in her Insurrection Era BDU.
"Welcome back to the land of the living, ma'am." The marine said with a smile and a salute.
"It's good to be back." Allison said.
"So when did Freelancer kill him?" The soldier asked.
"Last night." Allison answered.
"I'm sorry for your loss, ma'am. He must have been a great kid." another soldier said.
"He was. Make sure he gets home, Polasky...and...tell my family that I'm alive." Allison said.
"I will, ma'am. I'll see to it personally." The soldier said with certainty.
"Thank you." Allison said with a hopeful smile.
Later that night
Allison stood in front of a mirror in the bathroom staring at her reflection and keeping a hand over it before her daughter came in and saw it.
"You okay, mom?" Carolina asked.
"I'm fine, Crimson." Allison said with a heavy sigh.
"Biologically, you're still as old as the day you died, so you can still have kids. Many more if you wanted." Crimson said.
"I know, but they won't be his." Allison said glumly.
"Who's? Dad's?" Crimson asked.
"No, your friend, Caboose's. Your father became what he hated the most. Plus, he never wanted anymore despite my protests." Allison explained with a chuckle.
"Wait, dad was the one who didn't want more kids?" Crimson asked in shock.
"Mhm." Allison answered nostalgically.
"Wow..." Crimson said before walking out of the bathroom and closing the door.
Allison smiles when her womb lights up revealing a soul in fetus form. A warm feeling spreads throughout her body as she smiles and joyful tears roll down her cheeks.
