'Come one, Sis.' Pietro said as walked through King's Cross Station. 'Train leaves soon.'
'Why can't they just use the floo network?' Wanda asked, annoyed at the fact that her brother made her speak English because she sounded like a "Russian hooker" he had said. Why did they have to move to England, why did they need to transfer, why couldn't they love her, why did they had to go? Wanda knew all the reason, but still, it hurt to have to move to a different country.
She had read up of course on Hogwarts, the school being entirely different to Durmstrang where they had attended beforehand. 'Are you sure that we couldn't have gone to Beauxbatons?'
'Hogwarts is supposed to be the best school there is, and you, dear sister, deserve the best.' Pietro told her, they had reached Platforms 9 and 10. 'Where now, Heimdall hadn't said anything?'
'Neither did Coulson.' Wanda sighed. 'Great, we're stuck here now.'
'We could just ask.' Proposed her brother
'Or not,' Wanda said. 'One of us has a social anxiety disorder.'
'You just need the right person to bloom, look it is easy.' He tapped a handsome boy, about a year older than him on his shoulder. 'Excuse me, do you know how to get
'Are you taking the mickey out of me?' He asked, looking furious at the mere mention of the platform by a foreigner.
'Uuuhm, am I taking what now?' Pietro asked, still smiling his perfect smile as if inviting the man to punch him.
'Go back to where you came from, you wanker!' The young man yelled at Pietro. Her brother ran his hand through bleached hair, growing more furious behind his smile.
'Piet, let's go.' Wanda dragged Pietro away, ignoring the look of a smirking boy with dark hair and tattoo of the Jolly Roger on his arm, for which he was far too young.
'Sorry, do you need help?' Somebody tugged on Wanda's jacket. She turned to look at a young blonde, no older than eleven, looking up at her.
'Lena, stop running away from me!' A sultry voice called out across the platform; Wanda gazed at the owner of the smoothest voice in the wizarding world. Towards her came a beautiful girl, her height somewhere between Wanda and the younger girl, red locks framed her pretty face. Time seemed to stand still as Wanda counted every little freckle on the redhead's face. Ruby lips formed into a smile as blue eyes seemed to seize Wanda up.
'But, Talia,' The young blonde said, neither girls seemed to have a British accent, if which Wanda made a mental note. 'They don't know how to get to the platform, so we should show them.'
'Alright,' The redhead said, grabbing the girl who seemed like her sister's hand. 'But you don't walk away again.'
'I am eleven,' The blonde told her. 'I can do this myself. Come, follow me.'
Wanda smiled as she followed the redhead and her sister, who was skipping towards the little gate dividing platforms nine and ten.
'Just walk through here.' The most beautiful girl in the world told her, as she looked behind her at Wanda. 'Run if you're anxious, I'll be waiting on the other side.'
Not we'll, Wanda thought, I'll. The redhead would be waiting, for her.
'Come, sis.' Pietro clutched her hand. 'Let's start our new life.'
They walked through the fence, Wanda had closed her eyes to embrace herself from the impact, but ultimately was met with the buzzing of a packed train station, where her eyes immediately met a freckled face.
'Awesome!' said the beaming blonde. 'You made it.'
'Thank you so much.' Pietro said. 'We're transferring and had no clue.'
'Phil tends to forget to mention it sometimes.' The older of the two said. 'It was nice meeting you two, but I need to make sure Yelena has the best seat, first year on the train are where everlasting friendships are made.'
'I'm sure we'll be fine.' Pietro said after the two girls had walked away, not noticing Wanda staring at the redhead's backside. 'You can make friends in your fifth year, right?'
'You can.' Mumbled Wanda, exhausted from packing up their tiny apartment this morning that they had rented until they could go to Hogwarts. To indicate her statement, a quaffle came hurling their way, with the agile reflexes Wanda knew her brother had, he caught the red ball mid-jump.
'Nice catch, Silver' A tall blonde woman said. 'Do you play?'
'I did, back home.' Pietro said, throwing the ball to the blonde, who quickly passed it onto a black boy who threw it to a blonde man with long hair, who passed it onto a dark-haired boy who sighed and stepped away, letting the ball drop to the floor.
'Brother,' He said in a somewhat Scandinavian Accent. 'Remind me to teach you to catch.'
'Just…' The brother sighed. 'Don't.'
'What house are you?' The blonde woman asked Pietro. 'We need a new Seeker and Chasers this year, you should try out. We can't get our arses beaten by Romanov again.'
'I'm a transfer student,' Pietro told them, completely ignoring Wanda now, excited as he made friends. 'We're from Durmstrang, where I was house captain and seeker.'
'T'Challa and his cousin are as well. So, you two,' She pointed at Wanda, reminding her brother of the sister he had neglected for a second. 'Still need to be sorted?'
'Yeah, any tips?' Pietro asked.
'Come to Gryffindor,' The blonde man said. 'And party with the mighty Thor.'
'Please stop making the mighty thing happen.' His brother sighed. 'Not going to work.'
'What's the time?' The fourth of them asked, Wanda guessed he was T'Challa.
'We need to get onto a train.' The tall girl asked Pietro. 'You sitting with us?'
'If that's okay?' Pietro asked hesitantly. Then he gazed at Wanda, who nodded.
'Go, you dummy.' Wanda said, feeling more anxious than ever. 'I'll manage.'
Wanda felt alone as she dragged her heavy trunk up onto the train, trying to find a compartment where she could sit in silence with her sketchbook. All compartments she passed were full, having gotten there quite late and her pace being slow as she let her head hang.
'Hey,' A compartment opened next to her and a redhead came walking out, facing Wanda. 'You seem lost, do you need help?'
'No, it's fine.' Wanda old the redhead, unfortunately, not the same as earlier, although this woman was also very pretty. 'I'm just looking for somewhere to sit.'
'You can join me.' The redhead said, she extended a hand. 'Jean Grey.'
'Wanda Maximoff.' She shook the hand as she gazed into kind eyes. 'But I don't want to be a bother.'
'Nonsense,' Jean waved away Wanda's concern. 'Here let me help with your trunk.'
Jean help lift her trunk into the racks above them before opening her compartment door. 'These are my friends.' She said, pointing at the empty compartment. 'Friends, this is Wanda.'
Wanda snorted at the form of dark humour. 'I'm sure you're not that bad.'
'No,' Jean said with a smile, sitting down and gesturing that Wanda should do the same. 'I'm expecting some friends soon.'
At that exact time, the door slid open, and a raven-haired girl clad in violently purple, and a Latin girl fully dressed in star-spangled clothing came in. 'Is the Society still meeting this year?' The Latina asked.
'Yes,' Jean said. 'I think so, I think Xavier will allow it.'
'We have something we should tell you.' The purple girl said, showing Jean and Wanda their hands, which were locked together. 'We got together, and I'm excited about my first meeting.'
'About time that you figured out you weren't straight.' Smirked Jean. 'Guys, I'm being rude. America, Kate, this is Wanda. Wanda, these are Kate and America.'
'Hi!' Kate said, at least Wanda thought that was Kate, she guessed that America wasn't the one wearing purple. 'Nice to meet you, will you be joining us, or are you straight?'
'Joining you for what?' Asked Wanda.
'The Society of the Unicorn.' America said. 'Jean and Danvers help all the LGBTQ+ people through Hogwarts, making sure they feel at their best.'
'That's cool,' Wanda said, glancing at Jean. 'I might see.'
'Jean is amazing,' Kate told her. 'There is no way she won't make Head girl in two years.'
'Well,' It was nice to see you.' America said. 'But we promised Laura to meet up with her and we plan on grossing her out as much as possible. Bye, Chicas.'
'Sorry about them,' Jean said. 'I'm not that special.'
'It's amazing.' Wanda told her. 'We could have used it in Durmstrang.'
'Jean,' The door opened again, and two boys stepped in. 'We have a new guy in our year, and he is doing trick shots, a few compartments further.'
'Not interested, Lang.' Jean said. 'And say hi to Nat for me, Clint.'
'Will do.' Clint said before the boys left again.
Eventually, the door slid open, and this time three people sat down next to them.
'I'm already exhausted and we haven't even started yet.' A brunette said, laying her head in Jean's lap. 'And Ororo ditched me for her boyfriend.'
'Johnny and Bobby got their own compartment to show each other how much they missed the other.' A somewhat geeky-looking boy said.
'It is their full right,' Jean said, softly stroking the hair of the girl whose head was in her lap. 'Johnny couldn't go to Bobby's house as they don't yet know.'
'Who are you?' The third girl asked, she had tanned skin and dark hair. Her toned muscles indicated her quidditch career.
'Wanda,' Wanda said.
'I'm Bruce,' The boy said. 'That one is Val, and that swine there is Kitty.'
'I'm not a swine,' Kitty said. 'I'm precious.'
'Pillow princess.' Val shot back.
'Guys,' Jean hissed. 'Shut up and act cool.'
'Why?' Wanda asked, not sure how to act as six blonde girls walked past their carriage, one of them, it seemed their leader looked inside their compartment for a split second before walking further, leaving them behind.
'Well,' Kitty started explaining with a grin. 'Jeanie here has got a big crush on the main bitch.'
'I have not,' Jean's face became as red as her face. 'And don't call her that.'
'Who was she?' Wanda asked.
'Our version of Regina George, but even hotter,' Bruce explained. 'The plastics are quintuplets.'
'She won't get it if she's a pureblood.' Kitty said.
'Have you seen the masterpiece that is mean girls?' Bruce asked her.
'Yes.' Wanda chuckled. 'And I know who the plastics are.'
'And the Ice Queen is the worst of them all.' Kitty added.
'She's not that bad.' Jean said again, having finally regained her voice. 'She's just misunderstood.'
'Her and the quintuplets are a menace to the school.' Kitty said. 'I mean… would I let her crush me with her thighs? Yes. I would. But would I enjoy it? Probably. But is she a nice person? No.'
'Shut it.' Jean said. 'I know she's out of my league, but I really like her. She can be really funny.'
'Name one of her jokes.' Val challenged.
'It's mainly sarcasm, but I like it.' Jean blushed again. 'She just makes me feel good when she looks at me.'
'Worthless.' Kitty sighed. 'All this because of the faulty broom incident.'
'She's not a racist,' Jean defended herself, letting the incident slide for now. 'I've never heard her mutter anything about blood purity or anything.'
'She's Slytherin.' Kitty said. 'That should be final.'
'Some of our group are from that house.' Jean said. 'Like Val here.'
'She's the exception; you just like her because she's pretty.' Kitty teased.
'She's not.' Jean said. 'She's beautiful; Wanda, back me up?'
'She's nice to look at, sure.' Wanda said. 'But not my type.'
They continued laughing, joking, eating snacks from the trolley, playing exploding snap, teasing Jean, and talking. People from Jean's society moved in and out of the compartment as the journey continued. One of Wanda's favourite was a tiny girl, a year younger than she was with a fiery temperament to which you'd bow down.
'Bruce, leave us.' Kitty said as the journey neared its end. 'We need to change into our robes.'
'I am gay,' Bruce said undignified at the nothing of him peaking. 'You are bi, Jean is gay, and Wanda is…?'
'Omni.' Wanda said. 'Although I have a preference for women.'
'Who doesn't?' Smirked Val.
'I stand uncorrected.' Bruce said. 'I'd be the only to be not interested in you.'
'But you're a dude.' Kitty said. 'So, leave, go bother Thor or something.'
He muttered something about not minding to bother Thor before leaving. The women changed into their robes and soon Wanda was on the platform in Hogsmeade. She gathered around Heimdall, whom she had met earlier, she and Pietro were to be
'Three or four per boat.' Heimdall gestured to the boats. Wanda was joined by her brother and the young blonde she met earlier.
'I forgot to introduce myself.' The girl said. 'Yelena Romanoff, which house are you planning to get into?'
'I don't know.' Wanda said honestly. 'I'll see what I get.'
'And hope for the best.' Pietro added.
'You can always ask whatever you want.' Yelena told them. 'Nurture wins over nature.'
'Are you going to ask for a house?' Pietro asked.
'No,' Yelena said. 'Feels more natural this way, they see what fits best, why mess with perfection. I would like to be in the same house as my sister.'
The lake ride was beautiful as they gazed at the dimly lit castle, fairy lights seemed to be dancing through the dark sky. Her mouth was agape, and it didn't close until she was in the room next to the entrance hall, where Professor Fury waited for them. The talk he gave was short and curt, making sure that Wanda knew not to mess with this teacher.
The bald man with the eye patch led them into the great hall, Fury was his name, head of Gryffindor house. The hall was packed with students, Wanda could see a boy with a prosthetic arm waving to another boy on a different table. Jean waved at her from a table, and she softly waved back. Her eyes met Yelena's sister who smiled at her. Wanda was blushing too hard to care that that smile might have been for the Blonde standing behind her.
Some boys from the station started catcalling Pietro. 'Let's go, Quicksilver!' Great, her brother already had a nickname.
She felt tall amongst all the first years like she stood out and she hated it. Then a person stepped out, they seemed neither male nor female. Dressed in white with blue robes, they had a bald head and a booming voice.
'I am The Watcher, when I call your name, you will sit, and I tell you which house fits your needs. Where you can thrive and be your best self. I am always right, as I am all-knowing.'
They then started to sing. During the Watcher's song, a small hand found its way into her own, Wanda looked down and saw Yelena slightly trembling from anxiety.
'All will be okay.' Wanda whispered, half to herself. She repeated that mantra in her head until eventually:
'Maximoff, Pietro'
Pietro walked towards the stool, where the watcher placed a hand on his head. Pietro closed his eyes, and it was as if the Watcher and he were conveying in their minds with each other until he finally called out:
'Gryffindor!'
Pietro walked towards the table where half of the quidditch team he had met welcomed him with open arms. Wanda knew what was to come next, and sure enough, her name was called after her brother's.
'Difficult,' She heard a voice say in her head as the Watcher placed a hand on her head. 'What is it that you want?'
'I just want to fit in, for once.'
'I know just where to put you.' They whispered in her head before raising his voice for all to hear. You will find your place in…
