Hey yall, I'm sorry I keep disappearing on you. I want to keep get back into writing fanfiction, but I get started but then I lose interest in doing so. I want to, I legitimately do. So I'm hoping this fanfic will reignite that fire. Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

The warm morning breeze crept through the window in Mile's room, gliding over his snout and making his nose twitch a bit before he began to stir. He slowly sat up, letting out a loud yawn before throwing his feet over the side of his mattress. He looked over and saw the book Sally was reading to him last night. The fox hopped off his bed and slowly walked to the bathroom. He didn't know why, but he felt much lighter and sluggish, like his body wasn't moving at the pace it ought to.

Once again shrugging it off, believing it to be a nothing more than his mind waking up. He turned on the faucet and splashed water on his face, hoping to wipe away the post-sleep haze. He soon felt a sudden and sharp cold breeze at his back, along with a howling wind. This isn't normal, he thought before turning around to see his bedroom had completely disappeared and had been replaced with an mountain-top covered in snow, in the middle of a blizzard no less. The young fox's mind was now running at a thousand miles a minute, doing everything he could to piece together the world around him, unfortunately, to no avail.

What's going on, where am I? He thought, wrapping his arms tightly around his body as he began to shake his body back to warmth. He kept telling himself that this was no more than a dream, but everything felt real. He made out a small cave in the distance and quickly made his way to it, the snow quickly moving up to his knees and then his waist, he soon found himself up to his chest in snow and only getting deeper. His chest felt tight, his tails felt numb as the snow began to encase him. He tried calling for help, but his voice felt silent, even to his ears.

The ground underneath him quickly gave weigh and he soon began to plummet down towards a vast ocean, instantly reaching terminal velocity. The poor fox started screaming, his voice still silent as he tried desperately to spin his tails. He looked down at the ocean again, baffled. His thoughts were interrupted as he felt himself collide with a chunk of floating rock, stopping his endless fall. He slowly stood up, shaking his head as it throbbed in pain. The wind once again got harsh, the sky quickly darkened, and the ocean beneath him began to rage. He turned to face the source of the wind and immediately wish he hadn't, it was a terrifying shadowy colossus towering over him, but he wasn't able to make it out from the wind hitting his face.

Sonic, Sally, Bunnie! SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME! The fox began to panic, his heartbeat getting faster and faster as the wind picked up, he slipped once again and grabbed the edge of the small chunk of earth, gripping for dear life. Unfortunately, his grip soon gave out and he was thrown from the rock and once again fell towards the sea below. This time, he felt and heard the scream that escaped his throat as he plummeted to the ocean, looking down to see all the rocks that stuck out from the stormy water get closer and closer, closing his eyes and...

A loud thud could be heard in Tails' bedroom, he pushed himself up off the floor and sat up. Wait, floor? He frantically looked around and saw that he was back in his room in Knothole, everything looked the same as it did before, with the exception of his desk being more organized now than the night prior, his robot sitting on its charging port. The fox gripped his head and winced as he felt it ringing like mad, tears streaming down his face as he tried contemplated his nightmare as well as coping with the intense pain he felt in his head.

Not long after that, he heard footsteps quickly making their way to his room, the door flinging open not long after. "Tails?! Is everything alright?!" they shouted, he looked up and saw his aunt Sally, kneeling next to him.

"Are you okay?" she asked. "Did you fall out of your bed?" The princess couldn't get much out of him, he quickly clung to her and began crying into her chest. Without even thinking, her motherly instincts quickly took over and she hugged him tightly, rocking him back and forth and rubbing the back of his head. He must've had an awful nightmare. He's never clung to me this hard before. She looked down at him again as his sobs continued, seeing the small bump and bruise that began to show up on his forehead. "It's okay, Tails." said Sally softly. "It was just a bad dream, it's all over now."

"Sally, I heard screaming! Is everything okay?!" Sally turned and saw it was Bunnie standing over her as she began to help Tails stand up.

"Everything's alright, Tails just had a really nasty nightmare. I think he hurt himself from falling out of his bed." she said, showing her the bruise on the fox's forehead. "Can you go get me some ice?"

"Sure thing, sugah." she said before quickly running off, leaving Sally alone with Tails for the time being.

Sally helped Tails back onto his bed and into her lap, softly stroking his head as his sobs began to subside. "Are you alright now?" she asked, lightly lifting him off her chest.

Tails rubbed his eyes, wiping away tears as his sobs turned into soft hiccups. "Yeah, I'm fine now Aunt Sally. My head hurts though" he sat back up, quietly sitting next to her on his bed. His head started to ring and throb again, making Tails wince and whimper a bit before it quickly subsided. He rubbed the small bump on his forehead.

"Do you want to talk about your bad dream?" she asked him before slowly pulling Tails' hand away from his head, not wanting him to agitate his injury even more. She saw him wincing a bit more as the light from his windows began to hit him. Sally stood up and walked to the windows, shutting the blinds just enough to where light could still get in before walking back over to Tails again. "It's okay if you don't want to talk about it."

Tails shook his head a little bit, he didn't really want to talk about it. But however, he nodded and began to explain to Sally every detail of his nightmare. He told her of the blizzard, the vast ocean, and the shadowy colossus. Every single detail. Sally wasn't sure what to make of his dream, she didn't think it was normal for a child to have such vivid nightmares, especially ones that would make one tumble out of bed. She shrugged it off for now, shifting her concern to the bump and bruise on Tails' forehead.

Tails' will need to see a doctor. Maybe I should talk to NICOLE, ask her about dreams of this nature? She'll be able to shed some light on the details.

"You serious? Little guy fell out of his bed this mornin'?" asked a very familiar blue hedgehog, leaning over a the windowsill. "His nightmare was that bad?" he asked, looking over at Bunnie as she ate her breakfast.

"Poor thing woke a lot of us up this morning, and when I went to go check on 'im, he was shakin' like a leaf and clung to Sally and wouldn't let go, like his life depended on it." she told him as she continued to eat.

"Maybe he just ate a bad chili-dog." Sonic jokingly said, his tone quickly changing after he saw the stern (and borderline furious) look Bunnie was giving him. "Sorry." he said, putting his hands up.

"Sonic, this is serious. I'm really hoping that all Tails got was a fright and a bump on the noggin'." she retorted. "I don't think anything like that is normal for a child. Especially as young as he is."

The conversation between Sonic and Bunnie continued for a while, they both went back and forth, both trying to figure out what the probable causes of Tails' dream possibly were. Only to come up with either unserious answers, all of which were from Sonic, or events that may have left Tails with some traumatic memory of some sort, which came up short because Tails very rarely leaves the village. However, their conversation and questions would possibly be answered.

Sally quickly entered the rec-house, sitting down in a chair before sighing exhaustively. She pulled the small computer known as NICOLE out of her pocket and set it down on the table. The stress she's dealing with this morning was not something she had expected to deal with.

"Rough mornin', huh Sal?" Sonic asked.

The princess sighed again. "Rough is putting it nicely, I took Tails to see the doctor. Doctor said it's a miricle that all Tails got was just a bump and a bruise. But he can't do much for a few days." she said before grabbing a glass of water.

"Oh thank heavens. At least he's alright." said Bunnie.

"Well, that's plot convenience for ya." said Sonic sarcastically, his sarcasm met with a few fried eggs thrown at his face. "Relax Bunnie, it was just a joke."

"Will you be serious for two minutes?!" she asked angrily. "A young'un almost got hurt real bad, you've got some nerve to be crackin' jokes right now, Sugah-Hog."

"Okay, I promise, no more jokes."

Sally had almost completely ignored the quarrel between Sonic and Bunnie, she had more concerns on her mind right now, primarily Tails. She quickly flipped open the little computer. "NICOLE, do you have any information on vivid dreams? Particularly nightmares?" she asked.

"One moment, Sally... CLOSEST DATA MATCH FOUND, SUBJECT: NIGHT TERRORS."

"Night terrors?"

"Yes. Night terror, also known as sleep terror, is a sleep disorder causing feelings of panic or dread typically occurring during the first hours of stage three to four non-rapid eye movement sleep and lasting for one to ten minutes. They can last longer, especially in children."

Sonic and Bunnie felt a little confused as NICOLE continued to explain, learning about extremely vivid nightmares that felt as real as they possibly could get without actually being real.

"... night terrors can occur if the sufferer does not eat a proper diet, does not get the appropriate amount or quality of sleep, or is enduring stressful events."

Sally began to ponder all of the possibilities of the causes. Tails always ate very healthy meals and got plenty of exercise, so that was quickly ruled out. She always made sure he went to bed on time, especially after story time. The only thing left was stress... perhaps the war with Robotnik is starting to weigh on him. However, it was still a stretch, Tails is usually very care-free. I guess I can talk with him later, something might be bothering him.

Tails had spent most of his morning out and about, looking for something to do despite Sally telling him he couldn't go out and play. But he didn't want to just sit in his room all day, that's no fun. But his head did hurt a lot, so he decided not to do anything rough, like dirt hockey. That didn't leave him much to do, sadly. The poor fox sighed, he picked up some of his toys and put them in his backpack. I'll go sit in the Sea Fox, I can still play there... I don't think Antoine will be mad. he thought, swinging his bag over his shoulder before walking out the door.

The Sea Fox wasn't far anyway, just next to the pond by Rotor's house. The fox threw his bag into the hatch and quickly climbed inside. Flopping down on the comfy leather seat and pulled a few books and toys out of his bag. Tails was possibly the youngest of the Freedom Fighters, but he rarely went out on missions with Sonic and the others, often being told he was too young. He wasn't very fond of being treated like a little kid, and he was much braver than Antionne.

The young fox spent quite a bit of time inside his Sea Fox, reading books, playing with his toys, and pretending to search the ocean for treasure. This was much better than spending the day indoors. After a while however, he started to feel sleepy. Yawning loudly as he began to feel himself nod-off, he did everything he could to keep his eyes open, but in the end, he gave in. He slumped back into the seat, falling into sleep. A little nap couldn't hurt... right?

Antoine made his way over to the small rec-house, knowing that Princess Sally was there, he made sure to pick some flowers to give her... obviously making another vain attempt to woo her. He was even going as far as to practice the "most romantic" pickup lines he could think of. The hand of the fair princess will soon be mine! he thought confidently. That blue buffoon couldn't possibly take her from me. he made his way inside, where he was soon greeted by Sonic, Bunnie, and a very irate Sally. "Well, hello my lovely princ-" he was cut off.

"Antoine, what are you doing here?! Why aren't you watching Tails?!" Sally asked angrily.

Antoine, caught by surprise by Sally's anger, quickly tried to form an excuse in his head. Perhaps trying to impress her right now was far from being a good idea. "Forgive me, my princess. I just wanted to see how you were coping with-"

"I am REALLY not in the mood to deal with your half-witted attempts to impress me." she said sternly. "I've got a lot on my mind right now, so you better have a good excuse for leaving a six-year-old alone with a head injury."

Antoine didn't know what to say, he was caught completely off guard by Sally's mood. He began to blubber like he usually did when he was scared. "I'm s-so sorry, m-m-my princess! I don't know what I-I-I was thinking." he trailed off and continued his blubbering for a bit before ceasing. Sally stood straight up out of her seat and quickly bolted out of the door, making Sonic do a double take.

"You're in some hot water now, Antoine." Sonic said, laughing a bit. "I've never seen Sal move that fast."

"A slight miscalculation, but a simpleton like you wouldn't understand." Antoine retorted.

The two went back and forth for some time, making quips at each other, mocking the other and even getting into heated arguments with eachother. It was expected to be honest, there wasn't a day that went by where Sonic and Antoine didn't mock each other. Everyone in the village knew it and were used to it. But Bunnie on the other hand...

"YOU IDIOTS!"

... was not having ANY of it.

Sonic and Antoine's argument came to a grinding halt as the two shifted their attention to Bunnie, who was furiously clenching a cast iron frying pan in her hands, so tightly that her fingers were putting dents into it.

"Can't you two not be selfish for TWO minutes?! Just TWO! Is that TOO MUCH TO ASK?!" she said, now bending the the pan in her hands. "I've had it with your constant bickering."

"W-whoa, Bunnie, chi-" Sonic was cut off by the now destroyed pan flying past his head.

"Y-yes, please ch-chill- YIKES" Antoine yelled, a chefs knife flying past his head.

"I'm going to make you BOTH learn to get along and act more mature..." she said, gritting her teeth. "One way or another." she growled.

Sally had made it back to her house, frantically searching for any sign of Tails. She was looking everywhere, even looking in places he wouldn't normally be. Hoping that he was just playing a little joke on her. "Nowhere in the house." she soon stopped herself, tearing apart her living room was doing no good. Calm down, Sally. He couldn't have gotten far in such a short time. she thought before stepping outside her door. She thought of all the possible places the fox could be, and he knew better than to leave the village.

His dirt hockey stick and puck were still in his room. His bag, some of his toys and books were missing from his shelves. So he wasn't doing any rough playing.

What about the Sea Fox?

Sally shot up in realization, he loved playing in that. It was the closet thing they had to a playground. Might as well check there first. Sally quickly bolted out the door and made her way to Rotor's house.

It didn't take long, she found the Sea Fox and Tails' backpack hanging on the outside of it. But no sign of Tails. "Tails, sweetie? Are you in there?" she asked.

No response.

Sally was doing her best to keep herself together, not wanting to freak out and immediately assume the worst. She climbed on top of the Sea Fox and looked down in the hatch, there she saw Tails, sleeping soundly in his seat with a book in his lap... or so she thought. Her sigh of relief was quickly turned into a gasp of fear, as she saw blood trickling down from the other side of his forehead and onto his glove. It wasn't a lot, but it was enough to make her worry. Without hesitation, she picked up the poor kit and pulled him out of the Sea Fox. Not really caring about the cut she got on the way out, she jumped down and sprinted back towards the doctor.

"Antoine... you idiot."

This one took quite some time but I'm glad I did it. I was trying so hard to not come up with plot conveniences, but it was just so hard. I was also trying to stay within the realm of both the comics and the old SatAM show to the best of my ability whilst adding my own spin on things. Anyways, I'm always open to constructive criticism. I really hope you enjoyed it, even as simple as it was.

Also, the bit about Sleep Terrors came from Wikipedia.

Stay tuned for the next chapter, yall!
