Pairing: Background Takato x Jian.

Summary:

Lee Jianliang didn't foresee buying lychees to be such a test.

"Uh, um, which one's lychee and which one's longan again?" Takato panicked over the fruit stands.

Shaochung giggled at her bwuthwa's boyfwend's confusion. Takato never had either, so of course he'd get spun around between them. But there were signs with the names and prices!

Just goes to show, Takato was a real anxious, silly boy!

"Lychees are larger and have red skin. Longans are smaller and have tan skin," Jian explained.

"Longans, Jian-niichan! Longans!"

"We said we'd buy lychees for Takato-kun's parents' new specialty bread, Shaochung."

His independent yet high-maintenance sister crossed her arms crossly. If Terriermon had accompanied them out, she'd have unintentionally smooshed him indeed.

"Maybe we should give it to her, Jian. They look the same on the inside, don't they? A similar taste?"

"You tell me." Jian unshelled a lychee into Takato's mouth. "There's a seed in the middle, so spit that out."

Takato had other concerns besides the kernel. "Jian, we can't eat food we haven't paid for!"

"As long as I pay for them before we go, it's fine. Shaochung will have to accept we're buying lychees and not longans."

"Nnno! Jian-niichan's a meanie!" She sat right down in the street in anger.

Guilmon took Jian's speech as evidence he could pig out like Vikaralamon, sweeping clusters up in his claws and tearing his teeth through to the white arils underneath.

"Guilmon!" Takato wailed.

"A crate of lychees and a crate of longans, then?" The shopkeep picked his ear.

Jian checked the money he had with him. He wasn't crying, but his wallet certainly was!
