Chapter 1: First Time with a Friend

*Once upon a time in an alternate universe where Maya never knew Riley and the others growing up, she meets Lucas at age sixteen through different circumstances...

Maya Hart sat in a high school classroom with other teenagers her age, as the teacher at the front of the class said, "And so for your homework this weekend, you'll be writing another thousand word short story. But this time I want a first person perspective of a historical figure of your choosing. I want you to really get into the minds of those that came before us. Oh, and special shout out to Ms. Hart right here for that fabulous story she posted last weekend. Please be sure to check out her work especially, and make sure you to leave positive constructive feedback for at least three of your class mates. Okay then. Class dismissed." Maya then stood up and began to walk out of the class. Once she was out in the hallway, a teenage boy named Lucas ran up to Maya and said, "Hey. You're Maya Hart?" As Maya kept walking she said, "Yep. That's my name." As Lucas began to walk beside Maya he said, "Well I just wanted to say I've loved the last three stories you posted on our class forum. That jungle survival story was just vivid in detail while still keeping things at a quick pace. I'm Lucas, by the way."

Maya then stopped walking as she looked at Lucas and said, "Wait. Lucas Friar?" Lucas nodded and said, "Yeah. That's my name. You know me?" Maya then said, "No, but I've seen your name when I look at everyone's mandatory comments they send me. Most people just give me one sentence responses so they can get their participation points. You're the only one that actually sends me real in depth constructive feedback. Thanks for the feedback last week by the way on second person perspectives. You've posted some pretty good work too." Lucas smiled as he said, "Thanks." Maya then began to blush a little as she said, "So... you wanna eat lunch together or something?" Lucas nodded as he said, "Sounds cool to me."

*Three Weeks Later

Maya and Lucas were sitting together at a lunch table as Lucas was looking at Maya's iPad. As Lucas scrolled through it he said, "Maya, this new story of yours is amazing. Why don't you post it on our class forum. It's so... Oh. Oh, now I see why you don't post it. Oh yeah, this kind of story would definitely violate some class rules." Maya then covered her face looking embarrassed as she said, "Oh God, you think it's awful." Then Lucas said, "No. This romance fiction you make is actually pretty hot. I just mean it might be too spicy for the school board's standards. But this work you got here is good enough to be published in book stores. Just make sure you add a disclaimer." A curious Maya then said, "What do you mean by a disclaimer?" Lucas then said, "Well you know. The obvious stuff like: this isn't made for children who aren't ready for this kind of stuff. I mean... these stories you make could cause some guys reading it to get instantly hard if you know what I mean."

Then Maya made a sly smile as she said, "And it doesn't for you?" Lucas smirked as he said, "I usually need to watch adult films to get in the mood." Then Maya said, "Well I usually just look at fakes of celebrities." Then Lucas with a smirk said, "Well I was an award winning bull rider when I used to live in Texas." It's just I had a bad breakup with a girlfriend a year ago, and I've been desperate to talk to a girl that's actually... kind of cool to talk to." Then Maya said, "No. I get it. I've had some bad breakups myself in my life too, so I'm really glad to finally have a guy around that actually gets me, you know?" Then Lucas said, "Yeah. Anyway, looks like lunch is almost over. Same time tomorrow?" Then Maya said, "Um... Lucas... instead of waiting till next lunch period to talk like we always do... you wanna maybe talk while hanging out at my place this afternoon?" Lucas smiled as he said, "Sounds good to me."

Maya and Lucas both sat on the bed in Maya's room looking looking at a laptop together smiling. Then Lucas said, "So do you think this girl looks hot?" Maya rolled her eyes and said, "Come on. You can do better than that. Let me show you where some really hot ladies are online." Then a curious Lucas said, "Wait. You check out hot ladies online?" Then Maya said, "Just for inspiration for my stories. I have to imagine a face while I'm writing a story." Then Lucas said, "Hmm. Yes. A face... and a but... and breasts... and perfectly pure pu..." It's just... look, I just wanna say this now Lucas before we go any further. You're nice and all, but I'm not looking for a boyfriend right now. I just don't feel ready for one at this time. I'm just a messed up box of mayhem and confused feelings that's trying to figure out her life right now." Then Lucas with a sympathetic face said, "Hey, hey. That's cool. I'm honestly just happy to have a good friend to finally talk to about stuff. You're honestly the first person at school I've talked to about my past."

Then Maya with a small smile began to blush as she said, "Hey, um... I know I just said I'm not looking for a boyfriend. But there is something crazy I've always wanted to try out with a good friend who is willing." Then Lucas said, "Yeah. What is it?" Then as Maya began to blush very brightly now she said, "Well... I've never actually had sex with someone my age that's actually nice to me. And I'd kinda like to try it out... you know, explore what it's like just once." Lucas smiled as he said, "Well... I think I can provide you with your special needs Ms. Hart." A surprised Maya said, "Really? Because I don't want this to be too awkward, but if you're willing to do it as just a good friend..." Lucas interrupted Maya as he said, "Maya, I won't do it because you're my good friend. I'll do it because you're my best friend." I only worry about what you are comfortable with. I really just want whatever keeps the trust between us open." Then Maya said, "Well honestly... I don't think I want to do that again for awhile if that's okay with you. I think I need to sort out my feelings on what we did." Lucas nodded and said, "That's okay." Then Maya gently grabbed Lucas' hand and said, "But... can I sort them out with you?" Lucas smiled as he said, "I'd be glad to."

Chapter 2: Maya's Past

Maya and Lucas were at an indoor ice skating rink skating on the ice together. Lucas was holding Maya's hand as Maya was wobbling. A smiling Lucas then said, "Now try to be steady Maya. I got you." Then Maya said, "I don't get why people like this. It's harder than walking, and my feet feel so heavy." Then Lucas said, "It's like a sport Maya." Then Maya began to fall down as she said, "Whoa. Whoa!" Then Maya began to fall, but then Lucas caught Maya in his arms as he said, "I got you Maya." Maya then began to blush as she said, "Um... thanks Lucas."

Awhile later, Maya and Lucas were walking out of the outdoor ice skating rink as Maya said, "So how can you be so good at skating? I never saw a Texas cowboy as having mad ice skating skills." Lucas smirked as he said, "We have indoor rinks in Texas too. Plus, it helps with balance which is good in any sport." Maya then held Lucas' hand as she said, "Thanks for taking me here anywhere. It's kind of nice to try out new things with a friend." Then Lucas looked off to the side and said, "Ooo. Hey. You wanna try out that indoor swimming pool now." Maya then froze up for a moment as her face looked suddenly serious. Lucas noticed this and said, "Maya, what's wrong?" Maya then with a very serious and sad tone said, "I don't ever want to go to a swimming pool ever again."

Some time later Lucas and Maya were sitting on Mayas' bed in her bedroom. The two sat on opposite sides of the bed, as Maya looked down silently. Then Maya opened up her mouth and said, "When I was twelve years old, I went to a swimming camp in my neighborhood. I became very close with a male lifeguard/coach there that was about twenty. It's not that I feel like I missed out on meeting my perfect guy when I was younger. I so totally know most first romances from middle school or high school don't last into adulthood. I just didn't get a chance to have what I should have had as a teen. And I'll never get that back." Lucas sighed and then said, "I think you're starting to talk about reliving the past. I think about that kind of stuff too. But I gotta come to peace with what has happened, in order to forge a better future." Maya sighed and said, "Yeah. I know I can't relive my past. I guess that's what fantasies are for, like the stories I've written. To play out things that could never happen." Lucas nodded and said, "So true. Then Maya said, "Well hopefully we can find some decent romantic partners before we're eighteen." Then Lucas said, "Hey. Don't rush to find the right guy. I rushed with my ex-girlfriend, and I so regret that."

Then a curious Maya said, "Lucas, you mentioned when you were younger you and your ex-girlfriend had sex. What was that like? I mean I'm just curious because I've never had that kind of experience with an actual boyfriend before. I mean didn't you say you and her would talk after sex? What was that all like?" Then Lucas sighed and leaned back as he said, "So I'm different than other guys. Then Maya with wide eyes yelled, "350 times!? And if you broke up with her a year ago, then... how did you have sex with her 350 times in the span of a year!?" Then Lucas said, "Well it depends on how you count. I count anytime time we had sex, stopped and had sex again. So on a skip school day we could have done it sex 7 or 8 times. Plus, we had a whole summer together where my parents didn't stop us from using my room. We got hotels together sometimes, and lets just say it isn't that hard to get the numbers up there. If you are only counting days we had sex I would say 4-6 times a week."

Maya looked astounded as she said, "Dang. Now that is something special. Wish I could experience something that epic with one person. Must've hurt a ton when she cheated on you."
