Does Time Make a Difference?

It was a beautiful day outside, the sun was shining through a window and then.. "RING RING". An alarm goes off, it's the alarm of Hailey Upton. Today was her first day of her new/old detective job, it was kind of insane because it's been years since she was there. She had to leave because she got a job in New York and had to leave her ex-boyfriend because of her job offer that she got. She didn't want to, but she didn't want to hurt him in any way. So, she left.

But, she snoozed her alarm so many times, because she was nervous about going back and seeing if he was there or not. But, she did want to see her friends as well.

She finally got up after at least 10 times of snoozing her alarm, "SHOOT!" She only had 20 minutes to get ready. She jumped out of bed and put her up in a nice ponytail with a blue t-shirt and jeans. She left 5 minutes early to get some good coffee before she gets the coffee from work. She remembers it being not the greatest thing in the whole entire world.

She gets in her SUV and puts on some tunes to drive to work.

"Hailey Upton, you're back. I thought you'd like nice suits." Trudy Platt, the desk sergeant says.

"You couldn't get rid of me that quick, even though it had been 2 years since I've last stepped foot in District 21, " Hailey adds. "How is he?"

"He? As in Halstead? Ha, well he's been better, I don't know what to tell you, but I think you should talk to him yourself, he's upstairs too. So, I think you should head up there," Trudy says with a sass tone to her voice.

"Thanks, Sarge, it's nice to see you too," Hailey snaps back. She then heads upstairs and sees Kim Burgess, Vanessa Rojas, Kevin Atwater, Adam Ruzek, and Jay Halstead, along with her Sargeant, Hank Voight, the devil himself. Hailey gets bombarded by all the love and then Jay Halstead looks at her, and all the memories come back.

"Halstead, it's been a while," Hailey says.

"Upton, yes, yes it has been a while," he adds. Kim, Kevin, and Vanessa are all looking at them as they have this conversation and Adam makes popcorn. Everyone was so into their relationship. He then says, "How have you been?"

"Good, really good. How about you?" Hailey asks.

"Been good, just working," he then gets immediately interrupted by Vanessa, "Yeah, sure, you've been moping around the last 2 years because of Hailey's absence." He just blushes while Hailey just stares at him.

"Hey!" Voight shouts softly, "Big news, you guys go home early today. See you all in the morning!"

They all get super excited and start talking about meeting at Molly's. Hailey gets asked, "You wanna go?"

"No, I'm gonna go home and get some sleep, lots of stuff on my mind, thanks anyway! See you guys tomorrow!" she adds.

"Hey, could I come over tonight? You can send me your address, we should talk," someone says.

"Um, yeah, sure," she hesitantly says.
