Prologue: The Ancient War

Kingdom of Chronoa (Distant Past)

Thousands of years ago, a loud explosion occurs outside of a Chronoan fortress while two massive armies are fighting each other to the death. This battle is one of the many devastating battles that occurred during the ancient Great War between the mysterious civilization of Chronoa and the ruthless mutant warmonger that is Apocalypse.

Outfitted in blue Celestial armor, Apocalypse lead his warriors to glorious battle. These warriors are his Dark Riders, also known as Riders of the Storm, that are devoted to their master and his wishes to cleanse the world of weaklings, like the Chronoans. Armed with various weapons, and some possessing mutant abilities, the Riders push right through their enemies with terrifying might as they make their way towards the fortress. Chronoan warriors from various tribes go all-out against the Riders, to prevent anyone from entering the fortress. A powerful sorceress from the Tempus Tribe consumes Riders in an elemental cyclone. An armored warrior from the Kako Tribe fires off several meteor-shaped spheres of light that scatter a crowd of Riders. A furious swordsman from the Mira Tribe raises their sword then quickly rushes forward, delivering a devastating spin slash that sends foes flying.

With assistance from their prototype Tokizoid robots, the battle seems to be going to the Chronoans' favor. That is until Apocalypse leaps high towards a massive crowd of enemies and slams his fist to the ground, unleashing a devastating shockwave that vanquishes them. "Know my power!" says Apocalypse, levitating to the air and telekinetically ripping off chunks of the ground to create a massive meteor and have it crash onto the Chronoans, killing most of them and scattering the rest while scaring them with his godlike powers.

But there was one Chronoan that wasn't scared of Apocalypse's power at all. He is a young blond-haired hero, wearing a hooded green tunic and wielding the legendary Chronoblade, leaping fearlessly towards the High One and knocking him down from the air with one swift slash. Apocalypse stands solemnly with a scratch on his armor and confronts the Chronoa Hero, as he lands across the mutant with a stern glare. "It is you." Apocalypse said, recognizing the Chronoa Hero from a previous battle in this war, "I acknowledged your strength from our previous battle. You are one of the few Chronoans that could give me a challenge. Such strength wasted on a worthless kingdom. But that will all change once I obtain the Crystal that lies within that temple." He glances at the fortress nearby, wanting something inside the place. The Chronoa Hero lets out an annoyed grunt as he takes a fighting stance with his sword. Apocalypse reveals his own sword and takes his own scowling fighting stance as he says, "Determined to get in my way? Unlike before, that legendary sword will not save you from the APOCALYPSE!" He dashes fiercely and swings his blade at the Hero, who blocks the strike with his own sword. "OR BLOCK ME FROM MY DESTINY!" He proclaimed fiercely.

Apocalypse and the Chronoa Hero lock blades for a brief moment, struggling to overpower the other while glaring at each other. Apocalypse breaks through his guard with a sword slash, then slashes the Hero several times while morphing his left arm into an energy cannon. The Eternal Pharaoh fires an overheated projectile barrage at the Hero, who deflects most shots with single swings of his Chronoblade before reflecting the last shot to stun Apocalypse. The Hero uses this chance to charge at the Pharaoh and knocking him into the air, then prepares to finish him with a downward slice. But Apocalypse quickly recovers and deflects his slice. Both swordsmen clash over their armies clashing, with Apocalypse overpowering the Hero with teleporting slashes that knocks him down. He goes for another warping slash, but this time the Hero predicts it coming and counters it in the nick of time with a shockwave fired from his blade, knocking away Apocalypse. The mutant overlord grunts angrily as he fires powerful Celestial beams from his arm cannon at the Chronoan swordsman. Using the spacetime powers of the Chronoblade, the Hero warps away from his blasts before jumping to the sky and carving open a time warp that drops meteors barreling toward Apocalypse, who simply uses his telekinesis to reflect them. The Hero warps away from the meteors and appears on the ground next to Apocalypse, who believes is going to slash him and immediately tries to attack him. Before the attack connects, the Hero freezes time on Apocalypse, leaving him wide open for a flurry of blows that finishes with an overhead strike.

BGM-Hyrule Warriors OST-A Great Evil

Just as time resumes for Apocalypse, he immediately feels the pain from the blows that were enough to push him backward several feet. "You are wasting my time, warrior!" Apocalypse scowls, growing to the size of a small building as he charges up an energy sphere in his hand. He manifests quicksand beneath the Hero with enough power to prevent him from escaping even with the Chronoblade, despite all of his struggling. "YOU PUT UP A GOOD FIGHT. YOU DELAYED THE INEVITABLE FOR A FEW SECONDS. YOU HAVE MY ETERNAL RESPECT. REST WELL." The giant Apocalypse shares his respect with the Hero before crushing him beneath his heel, seemingly killing the Chronoa Hero as the only thing left by him is the Chronoblade.

Wasting no time, Apocalypse gathers a few Dark Riders to join his side as he blows a hole into the Chronoa fortress. "NOW do you see you fools?! Pray to 'Solaris' and your 'Golden Gods'. It matters not, for I am the First One. The High Lord. Son of the Morning Fire! I am APOCALYPSE! AND I AM UNSTOPPABLE!" He proclaims loudly, slaughtering the warriors that tried their best to defend their base.

The First One enters a room and finds what he is looking for: a large purple crystal that is surrounded by a group of Chronoan sorcerers. And to his surprise, he finds them breaking the Crystal apart as it gives off a loud noise. "NO!" Apocalypse bellowed. The Chronoans surround Apocalypse with the energized Crystal Shards as he screams, "That Crystal was MINE! Its power…None of you deserve—ARRRGH!"

All of a sudden, a bright light emanates from Apocalypse and cause him to vanish without a trace. And without their leader, the Dark Riders were forced to retreat, giving victory to the Chronoans as a Chronoan warrior picks up the Chronoblade from the ground.

"All we've done is slow him. The power of the Celestials…He'll return soon, for he is He Who Never Dies." A Chronoan Sorceress said to her fellow sorcerers.

"We must prepare for the next battle. Perhaps summon Solaris if the situation grows dire." A Chronoan Sorcerer suggested.

"I am not keen on that idea." Another Chronoan Sorcerer responded, glancing at his allies. "This war Apocalypse brought to us has flared our God's flames to frightening levels. I fear the Flames of Disaster is upon us. Nonetheless, we must do what we can while he's incapacitated." He kneels to pick up a Crystal Shard while saying, "The power of this Crystal would have made him omnipotent. We must take the shards and scatter them." He declares while staring at the Shard.

The Present…In an Unknown Base

BGM-X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse OST-Apocalypse's Tower (Quiet)

Apocalypse inevitably returned to finish his war against the Chronoans, but was defeated soon after when the enraged Solaris unleashed his Flames of Disaster that nearly wiped out the Chronoans as well. Many centuries later, Apocalypse is wide awake in the modern era, currently standing on a balcony with his arms crossed inside a factory, overseeing his production of green-armored clone soldiers that he calls Infinites.

"Foolish Chronoans. It was futile to try to stop me. Soon, I WILL have what's rightfully mine." Apocalypse says, having been reminiscing his war against the Chronoans.

Quietly, a pale-skinned man with a weird cape and a red crystal on his forehead approaches the mutant overlord with a smile on his face. His name is Mister Sinister, a mad scientist and mutant servant of Apocalypse, and he has something to say to his master, "I have returned with good findings, my master." He said eerily.

"You have discovered the Chronoa manuscripts?" asked Apocalypse, turning to face his servant.

Sinister presents his master with ancient documents describing the Lost Crystal in an ancient language. "Found them from ancient ruins after the recent destruction of Chronoa." He said, handing the documents to his master.

Apocalypse reads the documents while saying, "These ancient glyphs are still legible. As I figured. They detail the history and whereabouts of the Forever Crystal. They seemed to have scattered them. Most across time and space…" He stops reading the documents and looks at Sinister, "If those idiots weren't too weak to harness its power, they could've won the war. But instead they allowed themselves to be killed by their own god. They should've allowed me to conquer their lands and remake them to the strongest! I will search for the Crystal Shards hidden in this world until you complete a Convergence Device that'll allow us to search for the other fragments throughout time."

Sinister formally bows to his master while saying, "Of course."

"Begin immediately, for we are not the only ones interested in Chronoa's power." Apocalypse said, aware that there are other forces interested in Chronoan legend as he turns to oversee his production of clone soldiers, "The recent awakening of the Flames of Disaster…and the brief revival of Chronoa…are all signs that the Eternal Sun God will be reborn to ravage this world. I must prepare to face it head-on once again and triumph…for only Apocalypse can bring eternal ruination." He said ominously with a scary grimace.

KFX Here: It's been talked about since Total Mayhem, but here's this prologue that gives you an insight on how the Great War between the Chronoans and Apocalypse was like. But yeah, I'm back with a whole new story in the Time War Saga. If you thought things were crazy before, things are about to get even crazier. Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Captain America were the "main heroes" of the Avengers in Lost Legend. This time, Sonic, Shadow, and Silver the Hedgehog are the main stars of this storyline, with Apocalypse returning after his defeat in Rise of Apocalypse.
