This is a poem based on the Witchfinder-episode, which is one of my absolute favorites. I love the insight we got into the relationship of Uther and Gaius, while still seeing a lot of great Merlin/Arthur/Gwen dynamics.

I might add some other oneshots based on this episode, I was thinking maybe Arthurs POV, but I haven't seen it in a while, so no guarantees…

Now concerning the Disclaimers: I wouldn't call myself a poet, I just look for rhymes, so the rhythm is all over and the grammar might be too, not to mention the commas of which I generally use too much. Also I am not a native English speaker and I didn't take the time to get it proofread by someone other than me. And last but not least:

I DO NOT OWN ANY MERLIN CHARACTERS OR STORYLINES!

Goodbye, my dearest friend

My dearest friend, I'm begging you,

Look at me to see what's true.

The truth you seek is in my eyes,

Unlike my words, they don't disguise.

You've known me, friend, for all your life,

I've helped you grow, I've helped you thrive.

Have I not been by your side every single day?

Have I not guided you on your destined way?

Have I ever give you, my king, a reason to think

That I would not give my life (for you) within a blink?

It is my duty to serve you with loyalty,

But to guide and help you, I've made my destiny.

Through every failed decision, through every every single thing,

My trust in you was unwavering.

To do the same for me, I ask for nothing more,

Because what else is friendship for?

So why are you turning away, why won't you see?

And realize that it is still me?

I know you want to!

So why don't you?

My heart is bleeding, you'll never know

That it was always pure, still I have to go.

And so I realize this is the end.

Goodbye, my dearest friend!
