It was the middle of May and a boy with black hair walks out of his dorm. He looks to his left and sees other freshmen pack up their stuff to go home for summer. He looks back at his dorm and sighs as he sees his roommate fold a blanket with the letters RMA. He walks back into the room and grabs his backpack and his beret with a pin on the front. He was about to double-check until he heard a knock on the door.

"You ready to go cadet Mendez?" A middle-aged man says as he pulls a cart in front of his dorm

I look at him and put on my beret and walk out "You bet I am Master Sergeant."

I throw my stuff in the cart and begin to push it to the elevator with Master Sergent.

"So, do you think you'll fit in where you're moving to?" He began

"I have no idea, but I hope so. I'm not sure how I can make any friends fast there." I replied

"Hahaha," He laughed "I bet you can cadet Mendez, you were one of our finest here in Alpha company."

We stopped at the front of the elevator and I pressed the button to go down. I looked back at the Alpha company and saw my friends chatting and packing their stuff to leave for the summer. I sighed again and turned back to the elevator when I heard a ding. We both stepped inside and I pushed the cart into the elevator.

"So where are you moving to?" Master Sergeant asked

"My parents said we are moving to a place in Michigan… Royalwoods or something." I replied

"Well anywhere you go, I expect you to keep your military barring we drilled into your head." He said as he poked me in the head.

"Ouch ok stop. Like I will forget." I replied

"Ok just making sure." Master Sergeant replied

Ding

"Well… see you later Master Sergeant Carver," I said

"See you later cadet Mendez." He replied

I walk out of the elevator and walk onto the quad. I look into the crowd of parents and began to worry when I couldn't see mine. Suddenly I felt a mass jump on my back and I fell forwards onto my items.

"Ouch. Hey lil sis." I said

"Hi, Emmet." the little girl said as she hugged me

I pushed her off and get up as my mom and dad walk over to me. My mom hugs me while my dad just rubbed my back and hit it.

"Oh my baby is here, come on we need to go home. Put your things in the moving truck," she said

Suddenly another person walked up behind me and said: "Hey baby sister."

"Hey bro," I said as I pushed my items into the truck."Come on, apparently, we're moving our items into the truck right now."

"Oh, that quick? I thought we would have gone home one last time," he replied

"Well apparently not" I replied as I finished packing up my stuff into the truck

"Yeah sorry, Parker. It was either we do it now or a few weeks ago. I know how much you two loved this place, so I decided to let you guys have fun." my mom said

"Well, it was good here. Had a great time at water polo and drama club." Parker said

"And I did enjoy my drill team. The rifle flipping was awesome." I added as I got into the truck

"Hey Emmy" my sister said as she got into the as well "I passed 2nd grade and going to 3rd."

I looked behind to see her in the back and ask "All A's?"

"All A's," she replied

"That's my lil sister," I said as I roughed up her hair

"Come on boys, we need to go." my dad said as he looked at my brother finish packing his stuff.

"I'm coming," Parker replied

"Ok, where's your brother?" my dad asked

"I'm already in the truck dad," I called out to him

"Oh great," he said as my brother, mom, and dad get into the car.

I look back at RMA to see it one final time. I sigh at my military school and say "God, am I going to miss this place."

"Ok kids, ready to go to your new home in Michigan?" My dad asked

"Yeah, I'm ready," I say

"I want to see if they have a drama club there," my brother replied

I laughed and said, "Bruh, you were the biggest drama king of RMA."

He threw his hand onto his chest and gasped in exaggerated shock "I was not."

I laughed and patted him on the back while my sister giggled. Mom turned around and looked us in the eyes.

We returned the look and said "What mom?"

"Oh since we were moving there by road and it being a 20-hour drive, I thought it would be nice of us to buy you guys some snacks," she replied

She threw on my lap a 5-pound pack of gummy bears and on my brother's a 10 pack of iced tea in cans.

We looked up at her and said "Thanks mom, thanks dad" in unison

"Now come on, we need to go." my dad said as he started the truck

"Yeah, I just want to go there and set up my Xbox and play Halo and Doom," I said

"Ok, but I still think PS4 is better." My brother said, "The only thing Xbox consoles have is Halo and those games are trash."

"Oh be quiet with all your exclusives and trashy Destiny games," I said back

"PS4," he said

"Xbox" I replied

"PS4."

"Xbox."

"PS4!"

"Xbox!"

"Nintendo!" my sister cut in

We both look at her and were about to go back to arguing until dad cut in.

"Now look, I know it's summer and you want to play your games," he said "But I want you two to meet the neighbors and make friends. Not just sit inside all day."

"Oh, come on dad, we just got out of school. We stayed there for 6 weeks straight. I think I deserve some gaming time." My brother said

"Actually I don't think it's going to be all that bad, maybe we can meet people who play the same consoles as us," I replied

We both look out the windows as we exited the city of Gainsville.

"I hope" I added under my breath

21 hours later, Royalwoods, Michigan (2:38 pm)

A blonde-haired woman stepped out the front door as noises came from the inside. She walked up the sidewalk and ducked to grab a newspaper on the ground. As she ducked a stuffed animal flew by her and landed on the floor in front of her.

"Ugh, Lola, sweety, please don't throw your dolls please." She said as she picked it up

She heard a voice yell from the inside "LANAAAA, STOP TRYING TO GET YOUR UGLY PETS ON ME!"

"Come on Lols, they only want to play." another one rang out

Just as 2 blond children were seen through the front door fighting. Another girl came down the stairs wearing a cyan tank top and brown cargo shorts.

"Leni. Did you take my charger?" She said

"No, I don't need to get changed," another blond girl said

"No not that, charger, C-H-A-R-G-E-R," the cyan girl said

"Oh yeah, like I totes did. I had to have it charge my curler." the dress wearer said

"Ugh, Leni, that is literally only for phones," the girl said as she went back upstairs

The woman walked back inside as she rolled up the paper and put it under her arm. She was about to make a right until they heard the sound of several large rumbling engines. The fighting and the chatter silenced as they all looked at the trucks outside. The woman looked out the front door and saw them pull up into the house next to them.

"Huh, looks like there are new neighbors in town, " she said to herself

Suddenly a well of 11 voices came from the house with a bunch of female voices and a few males.

"Let me see."

"I wanna meet them!"

"Can I see!"

"I wonder if they like sports!"

"Move dude, I wanna ask them what music they love!"

"I'll get my Meatloaf as a welcome to the neighborhood gift!"

Mendez family pov

"Ok, boys, were here." dad said with tired eyes

I let out a loud yawn as he stretched his arms out. I looked out the window of the truck and saw a house that was 2 stories tall. I stepped out and took a deep breath after sleeping for 6 hours and 21 hours of driving. I dug in my pocket of my ACU's and fished out my phone. I went into my other pocket and fished out my beret and put it on.

"Hi, cadet Sgt Mendez. It is… May 29th, the first day of summer break. We're in Royalwoods, Michigan. My new house." I said as I recorded our new house

I recorded the house and turned the camera to see my mom and brother hop out of the car and head to the front door. I ended the recording and put my phone in my pocket and was about step inside but my dad called from the car.

"Hey, can you help me with the bags, we need to unload the truck before I have to drop it off at the renter's dealership," he said

"Ok dad, just let me check out my room real quick," I said as I ran to the house

"BAGS now." He said

I stopped and said "Fine."

I turned to the truck and grabbed 2 luggage and 2 backpacks. I walked to the front and opened the door and saw a staircase leading up to the 2nd floor. I looked down at the bags and looked back up.

"Fffffuck," I said

I lifted the bags up and realized that they were 35 pounds each. I grunted after every step I took, dragging it up the stairs. I almost reached the upstairs and saw the top of the steps. I smiled as I looked and thought 'I am so close, nothing is stopping me now.'

Suddenly I heard my dad say "Uhh, hello. Were the new neighbors, the Mendez family."

I saw turned and saw my dad standing on the porch but the wall was blocking my view to see who were the other people were taking. I leaned back to try to get a better view, but suddenly my body started to lean too far.

"Shit, shit, shit." I panicked as I fell backward

Thump Thump THwamp

"Ughhh," I murmured as I looked at the floor my face was planted on

"Oh my god, sweety are you ok!" my mom panicked as she ran to get me up

"Y-yeah I'm fine mom," I replied as I got up to look at her and picked up my beret

"Is he ok?" A voice called out

I was confused as I never heard that voice before. I turned and saw a brown-haired girl with a purple shirt with a skull on it and a skirt with 2 belts on it. I leaned to the right and saw 12 more figures in the background.

"Uhhhhhhh" I buffered

"You ok dude?" She said again.

"Y-yeah," I said again "I'm fine,"

"That was a pretty nasty fall kid." A blonde-haired teen said

"Yeah, it was..." I said still confused, I turned to my dad "Hey, dad, who are these guys?"

"Oh, well these will be our new neighbors," he said pushing me up to them "They're the Loud family."

I buffered as I didn't know what to do. I just stared at the 26 pairs of eyes following me. They looked at me and I returned the look. It was silent as we just stood there.

"Soooooo..." I said while swinging my hands back and forth "What's your name…"

"Well, my name Luna dude," she responded "and this is my fam."

"Cool," I responded as I looked at the group of children and grownups behind them "So are you like cousins visiting or…."

"Huh?... OH!" Lori said confused at my statement "No, we're all siblings."

My eyes went wide and I said "Seriously…"

"Yep…" Lynn Sr. said "These are our kids. All 10 of them."

"Honey," Rita leaned over "there are 11 of them."

"Oh yeah 11" He corrected himself

I couldn't even muster out the words as another silence fell over us again. I was intrigued by this bizarre family and just NEEDED to know more. I opened my lips but only air came out as I was still speechless.

"Respectfully..." I managed to get out "Have you heard of condoms..."

Their mouths dropped as they realized what I just said. I look to see my mom pull me aside and smiled at the Louds before pushing me inside.

"What's a condom?" The girl in the pink dress asked

"S-something that… that" Rita managed to get out

"Something you don't need to know about," Lori said

I was dragged into the kitchen before I heard the rest of the conversation. I was turned to see my mom in my face. I looked at her as she glared at me.

"What the hell was that?!" She silently yelled at me

I looked at her and said, "Sorry, I was just in shock."

"Look," She said as she put her hand on the counter, "I know that having 11 kids is something to question but you don't just go up front and do that."

"OK I'm sorry," I said, "But you can understand why I asked."

"Yes I understand why you asked but once you are done taking the boxes you head upstairs." She began "I want you to immediately go over there and apologize for what you said."

"Oh COME ON," I said, " They already know that I-"

My mom raised her hand which held a sandal and cocked it, ready to strike.

"You know what." I changed my mind "I'll go take it up and run over there and with an apology letter."

"That's better," my mom said as she put the sandal on her foot "Now hurry up, the pizza will get cold."

"Alright mom," I said as I dashed off

1 hour and 34 minutes later

"Aaaaaaaaand there." I said as I finished my letter."A 200-word apology letter in cursive."

I grabbed the note and stuffed it neatly in an envelope as I folded the top into it. I looked around my room that I unpacked in a quick amount of time. I looked at my door that had a US ARMY logo on it with a DOOM 2016 poster on it too. I opened the door and walked down the stairs in my evening attire which consisted of a white T-shirt and grey sweatpants and sweatshirt with an eagle on the front. I popped on my shoes that were black and white tennis shoes and looked at the front door.

"OK, I'm going to apologize for my actions mom!" I yelled as I opened the door

I waited for 10 seconds and there was no response.

"I'm going to guess she got the message," I said as I closed the door behind me

I walked across the lawn and saw the house of the Louds. Not a large house, just one for your average 5 person family. I walked across my yard and about to enter the sidewalk to go to the Loud's house.

"It's just 20 feet," I said to myself "How hard can it be."

A took one step onto the walkway to the front door and a feel a wet sensation on my leg. I look down to see a pit bull terrier peeing on my leg. I snapped my leg out of the way as I see the dog run away into the backyard. I looked at my sweatpants and saw a stain as large as an iPhone 6 and I gagged in disgust. I walked 3 more feet and suddenly hear the ringing of a guitar from the upstairs that sounded like an Amp. Suddenly my eardrums popped once an eclectic guitar came through the audio. I held my ears to stop the pain but then I slipped on a rollerblade as I dased to the front door.

'This is just like wakeup at RMA again' I thought to myself

Suddenly I face-planted into a splotch of mud that ruined my sweatshirt and my white shirt underneath. I got my self up as the noise did not stop. I army crawled my way through the walkway trying to not spring any more surprises whit the letter in my right hand untouched by the madness. My clothes were ruined as I kept on crawling like I were in Normandy. The gunfire of water sprinklers opened up as I got wet and ruined my clothes even more. I reached my goal as I jumped up and ran to the front door. I banged on it furiously as I protected the letter from the mud, water, and animal urine. I looked at the door as the sound began to die down and the sprinklers stopped.

The door opened as I was greeted with Rita Loud looking at me.

"Oh hello, the-" She began before she was cut off "OH MY GOODNESS! WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU!"

I looked at her with a cold expression on my face and replied: "Your front yard is what happened."

The shriek of Rita gained the attention of everyone in the house. I heard the approach of many people and I saw all 11 kids with the infant in Lori's hands while Lynn Loud Sr. came out from the kitchen. They all saw me in my state of mud and wet from water and piss. I handed them the letter that was in my hand which was untouched by the elements.

"Here's a tip. Try to keep your yard clean." I said, "I don't want to reenact D-Day anytime soon."

I felt a sudden trickle of liquid running on the front of my head. I raised my hand and touched my forehead and pulled it away.

"Huh, well will you look at that," I said with a laugh "I'm bleeding."

"Oh my gosh, we are so sorry about that." Lynn Sr. said as he ran up with a rag and whipped off the mud which reviled a cut an inch long

"Come inside." Lincoln said as he ran to get a med kit, "We'll help."

"Thanks but I'm good, I've bee-" I tried to say but then I was pulled inside by 2 brown-haired teens and dropped on the couch.

A blonde teen with a turquoise dress bulled out some rubbing alcohol and Lincoln handed her a rag. Leni rubbed the rag on my forehead and I hissed at the touch of it but soon stopped once I got used to it. Lola and Lana got some bandages and wrapped the top of my head and clipped it with a Hello Kitty paperclip.

"Uhh… thanks…" I said as I got up "Think I'll get going"

But then I felt a hand on my shoulder and I looked up to see Rita with the envelope open. She looked at me and I looked at her. A silence grew over us as I didn't know what to say.

"I'll take it that you think we're even" she chuckled as she looked over the letter again "I have to say, I've never seen a kid like you write so beautifully."

"Uhhhhh…" I paused "Thanks"

"Well… apology accepted," She responded, "and tomorrow we will pitch in and clean up the yard to avoid any more accidents."

There were groans from the children as they began to look annoyed. I looked at them and saw the same brown-haired teen with the purple skull for a shirt. She returned the look and I looked at all the rest of the children until I spoke up.

"Well it was nice being here but I have to go," I stated, "The pizza's almost ready."

"Oh, well maybe we can hang out later. You know, get to know our new neighbors." Lynn jr. said

I looked at her and said, "You know… that might actually be a good idea."

I stepped out the front door and I looked back to see the family looking at my wound on my head. I began to walk through the mine filled front yard as they closed the door with a platoon of goodbyes and see you later's from the Loud kids.

'You know…' I thought 'maybe things won't be so bad after all'
