A.N: Okay, so, I haven't exactly got any reviews or requests *pouts*, so I am just going ahead with story I wrote a while ago. It might not be like my other works, so, yeah, put up with me.

It's Not Your Fault, Tyson

The Bladebreakers were currently in a match and Tyson and Dragoon were against Brandon and his bit beast, a grizzly bear, Grudge. So far, Dragoon has had the upper hand.

But then something happened: Tyson fell to his knees, clutching his head, while Brandon smirked smugly. Dragoon was slightly confused, and Tyson's blade wobbled a bit. The other Bladebreakers tried rushing to Tyson's side, but Kai held them off, knowing that Tyson would not like it- This was Tyson's match and he was supposed to finish it.

Tears were streaming down Tyson's eyes, as well as Max's and Kenny's eyes, but Dragoon kept fighting. The fight was a very tough one, but with a final blow, Dragoon finished off Grudge.

Immediately, the other Bladebreakers rushed to Tyson's side, who was now curled in a fetal position, sobbing and shaking, muttering a single word: Mom. Max tried to hold Tyson, but Tyson jerked away from him, shaking even more.

Kai's mind finally caught up with the situation and he realised that Tyson was having a triggered attack. He immediately pushed Max out of the way and knelt in front of Tyson, gesturing with his hands and eyes to the others to not come forward, and let him handle it.

After getting their nods, he slowly stretched out a hand to Tyson, who flinched away.

"Hey, Tyson," Kai called softly. "Come on buddy, look at me."

Tyson slowly looked at Kai.

"Hey, it's okay. You are okay. Everything's fine alright? I need you to snap out of it and calm down." Kai said slowly and gently, yet firmly.

"K- Kai?" Tyson stuttered.

"There you are," Kai murmured soothingly as Tyson suddenly threw himself into Kai's arms.

"Kai! He knows! He knows, Kai! He knows that she died when she gave birth to me!"

Kai cursed Brandon to hell and back. That jerk knew what would hurt the World Champion the most, and used it against him. It was a known fact that Tyson lost his mother at a very young age and he despised talking about it.

"I am a murder and a fraud, aren't I? I don't deserve to blade at all. I am just a disgrace to her and to you all, aren't I?" Tyson asked in a whisper and Kai's mind was brought back to the present.

"Of course not, Granger!" Kai exclaimed softly. "You are one of the most legitimate blader I've ever seen in my life! Listen to me, Tyson, you have earned the title World Champion with hard work and determination, and your mother would be proud of you. If she was anything like you, she would never shut up about saying how great her son is. Trust me."

Tyson pulled back to look at Kai and saw only sincerity in the red orbs. "I am sorry!" Tyson wailed as he buried his head back in Kai's chest.

"Don't be. It's not your fault, Tyson. None of it is," Kai said, rubbing Tyson's back soothingly.

Tyson then pushed himself onto Kai's lap, who was surprised at first, but then pulled Tyson, so that he was situated on Kai's lap, head buried under Kai's chin and hands wrapped around Kai's torso.

"I'm tired," Tyson whispered with a yawn, making Kai smile slightly.

"I know. Let's get you to bed, hmm?" Kai asked gently and Tyson nodded, with another yawn.

Kai slowly stood up, with Tyson clinging to him like a baby. Tyson's arms moved to wrap around Kai's neck and his legs wrapped themselves around Kai's waist on their own accord.

Kai walked away to the Bladebreakers' suite without uttering a word to others, with the exception of signalling to the other Bladebreakers to go on with the match and not follow him and Tyson.

Kai then proceeded to go to his own room, instead of Tyson's, and placed Tyson on his bed, once they were there. By now, the blue Dragon was fast asleep. Kai smiled fondly at him and brushed a lock of blue hair from Tyson's forehead. With that, he pulled the comforter upon Tyson, switched off the lights and called Dranzer.

Once Dranzer was there, Kai asked the majestic Phoenix to guard Tyson while he went to see how his other teammates performed. Dranzer nodded and made herself comfortable on Kai's bed, curling into herself, while Tyson immediately snuggled into the new source of warmth.

Dranzer gave him a look that said, 'Gee, thanks for the lovely job Kai,' and Kai allowed himself a chuckle. Dranzer hated physical contact as much as he himself did, and Tyson was not helping the situation.

He just shook his head and went outside, back to the other Bladebreakers' worried questions. He simply said, "Tyson is asleep and he will be fine when he wakes up. I have Dranzer guarding him."

They were satisfied with the answer, and Max asked if he could see Tyson after his match with Spencer was over. Kai considered it for a moment, and nodded. "As long as you let me accompany you, and you don't create a ruckus," Kai added and Max agreed readily.

After Ray's match was over, Max was up next. Kai observed the young American and fighting style, and was silently proud of the kid, as he won the match. In fact, Kai was proud of all his team members.

Ray has improved Drigger's speed, Max has more control over Draciel now, Tyson was not the stuck up brat anymore and he has actually become more mature, his bond with Dragoon stronger than ever. Daichi still had a long way to go, but his bond with Strata Dragoon was better.

And Kenny- Kenny was no longer the shy, mousy boy, but a brave and bold blader, who held himself back because he was content with working behind a laptop, with Dizzi keeping him company. But Kai knew that if Kenny decided to beybattle, he could even go for the World Champion title.

And Kai? The bond between him and Dranzer was so strong that he could easily communicate with his phoenix now, and he was slowly coming out of his heavily fortified shell of coldness. He smiled a lot more now, and he even praised the Bladebreakers when they did a good job, instead of just pointing out their faults.

Of course, he still does that now. After all, he did have a reputation to maintain, right? So, that's why when Max came back from the match, Kai said, "You need to improve your stance and your speed, Tate. Train with Kon for that."

"Okay Kai," Max said solemnly, before he got cheerful again and asked, "Did you see the last move I used? The Ultimate Tsunami Blast? Draciel and I were practising that for weeks, before I got that move correctly!"

Kai couldn't help but smile a small smile as he listened to the blonde ramble on and on. He ruffled Max's hair - making Daichi, Kenny and Max gawk in surprise while Ray smiled knowingly - before walking back to his room to check on Tyson.

Max broke out of his surprise and quickly ran after Kai, as he wanted to see Tyson too. As the pair reached Kai's room, Kai placed his finger on his mouth, gesturing to Max to keep quiet.

Max nodded and they both entered the room. Both of them were surprised to see Tyson sitting up in bed, leaning against the headboard, slowly stroking Dranzer, who was curled up against Tyson.

Tyson looked deep in thought, but he was immediately broken out of it as Max launched himself at Tyson yelling, "Tyson! You're awake!"

Tyson just laughed as he hugged Max back, but Kai frowned as he saw the shakiness of the laugh and smile- This was not the true smile of Tyson Granger. So, that meant Tyson was not alright, not yet.

But Max was too relieved to notice this and he just went on and on about his and Ray's match. Tyson seemed to be listening intently, cheering Max whenever a good part came, but Kai could see the far away look in his eyes.

After fifteen minutes of talking continuously, Max said that he would go and inform the others, and with that, he ran out of the room. Once Max was gone, Tyson just sighed and slumped, and he would have fallen down the bed, if not for Kai's speed.

Kai caught Tyson and the exhausted Dragon just leant against Kai.

"I am fine, just gimme a minute," Tyson muttered, but Kai was having none of it.

"Cut the crap, Granger. I know that you are completely drained, and Max's rambling did not help."

Tyson chuckled weakly and nodded against Kai's chest. "Yeah, okay. I feel like hell."

"Now that's more like it," Kai murmured.

After a moment of silence, Kai slowly helped Tyson to lie down. He called Dranzer back to the blade, and covered Tyson with the comforter once again. "Sleep, Tyson. You need it. I'll wake you up for lunch later," Kai said and he was about to leave the room when a hand caught his wrist.

He looked back and saw Tyson looking at him with sleepy eyes. "Stay? Please?" Tyson asked quietly and Kai didn't have the heart to refuse.

He sighed, deciding that he was going soft, and got onto the bed, leaning against the headboard, beside Tyson. Tyson immediately rolled over to him and buried his face in Kai's stomach, pulling the comforter so that it covered himself, as well as Kai's legs.

Kai, unaware of what his body was doing, ran his fingers through Tyson's soft hair while thinking about how Tala would have a field day if he found out about this. He sighed once again, and muttered, "It's always you, Granger. Only you."

A.N: Okay, so, like I said, this is kinda different than my other works. I usually stick with the story line, but this turned out AU-ish. The characters also seem kinda OOC, I agree. But, I don't wanna change this, so yeah, bear with me. Let me know what you think. It would be really helpful. So, next up, I will post AOCDG part 3. Byeeee :)
