This is my first Harvest Moon Fanfic. I hope you enjoy! :)

"Nnngh!" I pull at a weed that's roots spread far beneath the surface. "Ahh!" I manage to rip the weed out. I let out a huge sigh of relief. "Man, that was the toughest weed I've ever dealt with."
I gaze around me at my beautiful crops that are growing. Big ruby red strawberry's peek from the earth. Bright red tulips are blooming. Green sprouts of turnips poke above the ground.
I water each crop and then turn my attention to my animals. Twilight, my black calf, is grazing at the tall grass. MooMoo, my black and white cow, is laying beneath the cherry tree. Waddles is happily quacking away in the field.
"Hikari!" I turn my head to see Maya running towards me and is holding something… is it food? She stops in front of me panting. "Huff…huff… I brought you… huff… mushroom rice." I stare at the bowl she is holding which has a white substance with purple and brown bits sprinkled in. Oh no. Another one of Maya's cooking creations. She jumps up and says, "Try some! Try some!" I grab the fork from her outstretched hand. I scoop out a tiny biteful. Chew. Chew. Chew. It's awfully chewy. I swallow and feel my stomach gurgle. Ohhh, my stomach. I wrap my arms around my stomach and groan
Maya's eyebrows furrow together. "What's wrong?" I shake my head. "Does it taste bad? I knew I shouldn't have used those sparkling mushrooms." My eyes begin to cloud over, and my mouth is trembling. "S-s-sparkling m-m-mushrooms?" I say. I can barely talk. "Yes I found it in fugue forest." I sway back and forth. "T-t-those are p-p-poisonous." Her hands fly to cover her mouth and she says, "Uh oh." She wraps one of my arms around her shoulder and helps balance me. "We need to go see Jin," she says.

"Umm." Jin holds a clipboard in one hand and is tapping his chin with a pen in his other hand. "W-w-what's wrong?" I ask. "Well you see… I haven't found a cure for someone eating the fugue mushroom." "What?!" Maya and I both shout. "Then what's going to happen to her?" Jin stops tapping his pen and stares dead into Maya's eyes. "I don't know."
My eyelids begin to droop. "I'm kinda sleepy." Maya starts to fret more. "What do we do?" Jin's eyes widen and says, "Let's go ask wizard." My eyes start to close but before they completely shut, I ask, "W-w-why ask h-h-him?" Jin starts closing the books he has open. "He can see into the future. He gives fortunes and has books from centuries ago. He must know." Irene speaks up from the open doorway, "I'll prepare some coffee for wizard."
Just then Anissa walks inside the clinic. She tilts her head when she sees that Irene isn't in her usual spot behind the counter. "What's going on?" She asks. Maya runs over and takes her hand dragging her out the door. "We have to go see wizard."
My eyes are shut, and I can here Irene making some coffee. Jin is muttering to himself, "I need to learn how to cure it. I hope wizard has the answer." My mind drifts off to my animals that are left outside. I hope I'm back in time to bring them inside. Those are my last thoughts before I fall asleep.

"Mmmn…" I open my eyes and see stars. Am I outside? Wait those are painted on the ceiling. I turn my head and see a small cauldron sitting on a table. Smoke is drifting off of it. "You're awake." I hear a strange voice. I try to sit up, but everything starts spinning around. I see a man's face hover above mine. "Hello. I'm wizard." I stare at his silvery hair and long braid that passes the length of the rest of his hair. He has bi-colored eyes. Yellow and green. There's some kind of marking underneath his right eye.
"Where am I?" He looks at me with a blank stare. "You are in my house." I tilt my head and ask, "Why am I in your house?" As he walks over to the cauldron he begins to explain, "I had you moved here so I can monitor your status. There are different side effects to eating the fugue mushroom. Jin doesn't know them. I have the ingredients in my house for the cure. It's much easier having you here." I nod.
He starts to ladle out a bright orange liquid into a cup. Am I supposed to drink that? "Here, drink this." Yup. I take the glass and stare at it. It's hot to the touch and bubbling. What is it? It has steam rising from it. I poke a finger in it and pull it out. It doesn't drip off. "You need to drink it." I look at wizard who is watching me. I put my mouth to the glass and tilt it back. I gulp down the liquid and feel it bubbling and burning the back of my throat.
There I drank all of it. At least that's what I thought. I look at the glass and it's still halfway full. "You need to drink all of it." I sigh. I drink the rest of the contents and start gagging. He hands me another glass with clear liquid in it. I gulp the whole cup down. It was just water.
Wizard takes the glass from me and sits it on the table. "Now that should help cure the side effects of the fugue mushroom. It helps in about an hour." My eyes widen and I exclaim, "An hour?!" He just gives me an empty stare and says, "Yes. One hour. Now some of the side effects of eating the fugue mushroom are fever, dry mouth, trembling, runny nose, itchy watery eyes, stiff muscles, and hallucinations." "What?! Hallucinations?!" He nods. "Depending on how bad the symptoms are, you may need another dose of the potion you drank."
I notice a cat floating behind him. "Do you have a pet cat?" "No." I watch the cat float in front of him. "I think I'm starting to hallucinate." He nods and says, "I was wondering when it was going to start. It's best to lay back and sleep."
I lay back in the bed and stare at the ceiling. The cat floats in front of me. "Go away kitty," I mumble as my eyelids grow heavy. I drift off into sleep.

"MooMoo. What are you doing out here? It's raining." I watch as MooMoo slowly walks back to the barn, mooing along the way. "Hikari." Huh. I look around me but don't see anyone. "Hikari." Everything goes black. "Mmmn…" My eyes flutter open. I see Candance staring at me. "Huh?" She holds a cup of herbal tea. "I heard from Maya what happened. She's so worried and embarrassed. She said she's never cooking again." I roll my eyes and Candance laughs. She holds the cup of herbal tea to me. "Thank you. It'll taste better than that potion Wizard made me." I take a sip. It's refreshing.
"Wizard says you should be better now. He said you can go home." I look around the house and don't see him. "Where is he?" Candance says, "He let me in and said that you could go. He said he had to go get some ingredients for the aftercare potion and would visit you later." I groan. Not more potion to drink. I finish the rest of the herbal tea.
I stand up and head for the door. Candance follows me. I stop in my tracks. "Oh no! My animals. Were they left out all night?" Candance shakes her head. "No Luke heard what happened and took care of your animals." Luke took care of them? He has been friendlier with me. I'm hoping he asks me out to the firefly festival. It's supposed to be intimate. "Hikari." Maybe he would kiss me. "Hikari." Huh. "Wha?" Candance shyly smiles. "What were you thinking about? You had the biggest goofiest grin on your face." I blush. "Um…I…uh…" She laughs. "I mention Luke and you always start grinning like that."
