In another time, in another place...
Sonic smirked as he trashed another one of Eggman's bots. They were nothing compared to the blue blur. He whirled around, and crushed an Egg Pawn with a kick, reducing the bot into nothing but a smouldering pile of scrap metal. Sonic started getting ready to Spin Dash into a group of Motorbugs, when the ground started crackling underneath him and the bots. Sonic's eyes widened as he saw the tell-tale glow of a Genesis Portal. He braced himself to land in whatever world this led to.
'Hold on! Eggman's robots are falling in too!' Sonic realized the moment he tumbled through the other side. The Eggman bots tumbled away one way and scattered, and Sonic was caught away from them by landing on top of a building. He groaned, and watched the portal disappear. Great. Now he had to smash Eggman's robots, not get anybody worked up, and wait for the portal to reappear again. This wasn't how he was planning his day. But, on the other hand, this was going to be great! Sonic dashed down the building, and landed at the bottom in an ally. Sonic peaked out, and saw a bunch of humans and Mobians wandering around. At least he wouldn't stick out too much. Sonic walked out of the ally, and 'jogged' down the street. To everybody else, they wondered where that wind had come from, and why it seemed blue.
Sonic ran down streets, dodged around cars, and came to a full stop a few feet away from a beach. Sonic eyebrows went down, was this Station Square? It looked right. Sonic smiled, until he noticed a building that wasn't supposed to be here a block down. Okay, so this seemed to be Station Square, but maybe in another dimension. Sonic shrugged, and took off looking for the robots again. Maybe he'd run into some of this world's version of his friends. Sonic whizzed by, thinking he might have seen Tails, or Cream, but he didn't really get a good look. Maybe it was them, but who was that human with them?
Tails blinked his eyes in surprise. Where had that breeze come from all of a sudden?
"Did anybody see what that was?" he asked his friends, turning around. Cream shook her head.
"I didn't see anything." she said. Django shrugged.
"It was just a freak breeze, Tails, nothing to worry about." he said. Tails slowly nodded, and removed Sonic's PET from its holder.
"Did you see anything, Sonic?" he asked. His blue NetNavi frowned, looking like he was thinking.
"I think I might have seen something, but if it was something running, it'd have to be almost as fast as me." he said. Amy gave a huff inside her PET.
"Nothing is faster than Sonic." she said. Sonic nodded back.
"Yeah, you got that right, Amy." he said. Django groaned, it was the wind. He was sure of it. A sudden beeping came from all three's PETs at once. Django whipped it out, and so did Cream.
"Is it an email?" Tails asked Sonic. Sonic nodded, and brought it up.
"You wouldn't believe it, it's about viruses in the real world!" he said. Tails' eyes widened as he read the email.
"But that's impossible!" he said. Cream bit her lip nervously.
"Did somebody use the Chaos Emeralds?" she asked. Django stuffed his PET back.
"No way to know for sure, but let's get you home before we run into those things." he said. Cream nodded. The three started walking back towards Cream's house. Even before turning one corner, a bunch of MotorBug viruses, accompanied by two Spinners kept them in their tracks. Tails shielded Cream, and Django got into a fighting pose.
"Come and get it, you viruses!" the hot-headed NetOp exclaimed.
Sonic turned a corner, hearing screams. He did a quick homing attack on three Buzzbombers in a row. Their metal fragments landed in a pile on the pavement. He had no time to ask anybody around if they were hurt or not, he heard another set of screams. They sounded super-familiar. Sonic raced down the street, and found the source of the screams.
He wasn't imagining seeing Tails and Cream earlier, there they were, plus a human that reminded Sonic of Knuckles a little. He punched a Motorbug, but only dented it. The Motorbug waved its claw, and whacked the Knuckles look-alike away. Sonic smirked, and instantly reduced most of the Motorbugs into scrap metal. Tails, Cream, and the Knuckles look-alike all gasped at him. Sonic smiled.
"Need some help?" he asked. Tails blinked his eyes.
"What? This isn't making any sense!" he said. A voice that sounded like Sonic's own started talking.
"I don't get it, I'm here, but there's me there." it said. Sonic didn't see the speaker, but he did see a small, blue device in a holder on a backpack that Tails was wearing. Sonic smiled at him.
"I can explain once I take care of these bots." he said.
"Bots?" Knuckles' look-alike asked. Sonic nodded, and smashed the rest of the Motorbug. He looked up, and spun into the Spinners before they raised their electrical shields. They landed in a scrap heap on the pavement. Big sounding footsteps reached Sonic's ears. He looked up, and got serious. Now he was starting to wish he had taken care of this suped-up Egg Hammer earlier.
The speedier Hoard Commander smashed its hammer down. Sonic jumped lightly backwards, and onto the hammer. He rolled down it, and whacked the Egg Hammer in it mechanical head. Only a dent. The doc had made this thing to be tough. Sonic tried behind its legs. That also wasn't working. The bot grazed him with its hammer, and knocked the blue blur backwards. Sonic dusted the busted pavement off his fur, and smirked at the big bot.
"That all you got, 'tiny'?"
Tails watched as Sonic's real-life double used a SpinDash on the oversized PawnerH virus. Er, bot. He said they were robots. Cream peaked out from behind Tails.
"If we could find a jack-in port, then we could help the other Mr. Sonic." she whispered. Tails nodded, and started analyzing the big purple robot. Most likely, the jack-in port was in a hard to reach spot, under the robot's armour. If the spot was revealed, he could easily fly up, and jack Sonic in. Tails was so caught up in thinking, that he didn't notice the robot's huge hand sweeping down until Django pushed him out of the way.
Tails rolled to the side, and gasped as he realized what had happened. The robot had grabbed both Django, and Cream! Cheese fluttered around worriedly, and tried to hit the bot, but its armour was just too strong and he bounced away. The other Sonic tried hitting the bot's hand. He only dented it. The other Sonic pulled up beside Tails. He looked at him bravely.
"Can you give me a boost?" he asked. Tails nearly went for his BattleChip folder until he followed the other Sonic's line of sight.
"You mean? Fly you up there?" Tails asked. The other Sonic nodded.
"Just throw me at its head." he said. Tails shakily nodded.
"I'll try my best." he said. The other Sonic smiled at him just the way his Sonic did. Tails spun his twin tails around like a mini tornado, and lifted into the air. He grasped the other Sonic's wrists, and pulled him into the air. He spun his tails around furiously. "This is going to be tricky, normally the most I carry is Cream, and that's not often." Tails said. His Sonic called from his PET.
"I know you can do it, Tails!" Tails smiled, and nodded. He pulled the other Sonic level with the robot's head, and swung him around. He let go of the other Sonic's wrists, and the other Sonic SpinDashed the robot's face. Its face started sparking, and revealed what Tails had been looking for.
"A jack-in port!" Tails exclaimed.
Sonic dashed into the Egg Hammer rapid-fire, trying to get it to drop Tails' friends. He looked up at the other-dimension's fox's voice.
"A what-in port?" he asked. Tails landed on the bot's head, and pulled out the blue device that the other him had been talking out of.
"Just keep it from hitting me, we'll trash its systems in no time!" he said, thrusting a cable into a port on the Egg Hammer's face. "Jack-in, Sonic. Transmission!" Tails exclaimed. Sonic took a wild guess, and focused on keeping the Egg Hammer trying to whack him instead of Tails.
Sonic smirked, deleting a way-too-easy Motorbug.
"These viruses are a chinch!" he said. Tails' face appeared on a screen behind him.
"Don't get too confident, Sonic, there might be some stronger ones up ahead." he warned. Sonic nodded, and sped off. Tails was right, in seconds, black, shadowy viruses that Sonic had never seen before appeared. They tried to scratch him, then claw him. An ElecBarrier blocked and zapped the shadowy virus just in time. Sonic smiled.
"Thanks, Tails!" he said, and started charging up his SpinDash. He felt Tails upload a FlameBarrier, and sped into the viruses. The moment the spin wore off, the barrier went up, and burned the rest of the shadow viruses. Sonic turned around, and saw a lock. "It's a self-destruct button, sweet!" Sonic said. Tails looked it over.
"We have to do this just right. I need to hack past that lock, and then jack you out. You have only a second to press the button the moment the lock goes down." he said. Sonic smirked.
"That's all I need." he said, and waited.
Tails worked on hacking. He looked at the other Sonic.
"I need your help! This robot's going to blow, and we need Cream and Django clear." Tails called. The other Sonic looked up, and bashed the hammer away.
"Got it!" he called, and ran up onto the robot's head. He whirled into a SpinDash, and started bashing away at the big robot's hand. It started sparking. Tails suddenly hacked past.
"Now!" he called, recalling Sonic. Sonic must have smashed the button, because the big robot recoiled instantly. The other Sonic freed Cream and Django, helping Cream to the ground. Tails flew down quickly, and helped slow Django's fall. The four of them landed on the ground, and Sonic pulled them a safe distance away before even a second was up. The big bot blew up, and all of them cheered.
Sonic smiled, well, that was that. The rush from the fight died down, and he finally got a good look at Tails, Cream, and this Django guy. They were looking at him strange. Sonic casually shrugged.
"Fell through a Genesis Portal with some of Egghead's robots, and landed here." he said. Tails' eyes went wide.
"Do you mean? You're from another world?" he asked. Sonic nodded.
"That's right, seems kinda different from your world though, but a lot the same." he explained. Cream stepped up.
"Does that mean that there's lots of robots instead of viruses in your world, Mr. Sonic from another world?" she asked. Sonic smiled.
"Well, I'm not sure what you mean by viruses, but yeah, there's bots in my world." he said. Django smirked at him.
"If you wanna know what viruses are, they're like those robots, 'cept you and your Navi bust them in the Net." he said. Sonic tilted his head.
"The Net?" he asked. Tails flicked his tails in excitement.
"In our world, almost all electronics are connected the Internet. Due to the complexities of it, special programs known as Network Navigators, or NetNavis for short are needed to properly navigate it. My NetNavi is Sonic E.X.E., and he's definitely our world's version of you." he explained. Cream smiled.
"My NetNavi's name is Amy, and she's a custom Navi just like our Mr. Sonic." she said, holding up a pink device. Yeah, that was Amy. Amy squealed.
"Wow, so that's how Sonic would look if he was in the real world." she said. She winked at the other Sonic.
"Wouldn't it be romantic if you could race me around the real world?" Amy asked. The other Sonic frowned a little.
"I run you around the Net plenty." he groaned. Amy sighed dreamily.
"But then we could end the trip at the beach, and watch a real sunset. That would be the greatest!" she said. Sonic could see that the other Sonic was not too impressed by this idea.
"Is there something special about Custom Navis?" Sonic asked, trying to help his other dimension self out of this jam. Django shrugged.
"Well, Custom Navis are customized so they look different, plus they have personality and can think for themselves in most cases. My custom Navi, Knuckles, doesn't have personality or intelligence, but with my Operating skills, it's like I'm Knuckles." he explained. The other Sonic smirked at him.
"He's from another world, just tell him that Knux is basically a Chaos-connected avatar." he said. Django's look of temper was identical to Knuckles'. Sonic could guess the rest.
The Genesis Portal fizzed to life above everybody's heads. Sonic smiled.
"This is my stop." he said. Tails, Cream, and Django waved at him.
"Good luck!" Cream said.
'Cha chao!' Cheese added. Django hit his fists together.
"If you find a time to come back, let's have a battle, real or in the Net somehow." he said. Sonic nodded.
"Got it, Django." he said. Tails smiled at him, and held up a hand for a hive-five.
"Do you mind? I just want to see what a real-world hive-five would be like from my Sonic." he asked. Sonic nodded, and gave Tails a high-five. He then jumped up, and went through the portal before it disappeared once more. Tails smiled. He pulled out Sonic's PET. "Let's make it so that someday, it will be really you giving me a high-five." Tails said. Sonic held up his hand.
"We'll do it without a screen someday, Tails. You know it!" he said. Tails fived back.
"Yeah!"
