[Winter Late Meiji Era Late Morning]
[??? - TPP]
A portal opens nearby the Kamodo home and a child is thrown out of the portal.
The child yells, "Kuso! What the hell! First, it's me being sent back to the Heian era, then the Sengoku era, after that was the Showa era and then back to a later time in the Heian era, and now I probably I am in a different era from those. Why does my age keep regressing each time!? I don't want to deal with this!"
The child lets himself fall into the thick soft snow around him. "If I just let myself die, will I just be sent to a different time? Will I just reincarnate? Or will I just be sent back to repeat again? What will happen? I guess I could just let myself die here," the child says apathetically.
"Maybe I finally won't be sent elsewhere, maybe I can have a companion to travel with through time. I am so lonely. Will those who I have become close with remember me? Am I apart of history now? Shuten Douji and Ibaraki Douji might remember me, but it has been so long since I last saw those two."
The child sighs letting himself relax as he tries to let the cold take him. A small boy and his little sister wander into the area.
"Maybe I will get to see Yoshi-chan, Yori-chan, or Nobu-chan in the afterlife. I probably will get a beating from Yori-chan for convincing her to stop her plans against Shuten and Ibaraki Douji after convincing those two oni to change. I probably will also get a beating from Nobu-chan for leaving her and Saru's side unintentionally, I hope she was able to unify Japan completely unlike what I had learned in textbooks and classes in high school."
The child continues his ramblings to his ownself as the little boy and his sister notice him.
"Man, it has been many years since I was in college learning, and even more so since I was apart of the JSDF, the Imperial military and for a short time since I was in the German and American military. Man, I went all around the world and through time. I repeated so many times in each era, I am tired. Hopefully this will be the last time I travel through time, or at least hopefully, the last time I travel alone..."
"Hello," the boy laying on the ground heard the voice of a boy with dark red eyes nearby. The boy looks up and at the red eyed boy in a checkered kimono. "Why are you on the ground?"
"I have no reason to live..."
The boy in the checkered kimono asks, "Reason? Do you not have a mom or dad or brothers or sisters?"
"No, I do not. I am alone. I will always be alone."
"You aren't alone, you have me and my sister here to be with you."
Sigh* "I suppose I do have you two. What are your names?"
The boy answers, "Kamado Tanjirou, and my younger sister's name is Nezuko."
"I am Chikage Haruyuki," Haruyuki says in a resigned fashion.
Tanjirou asks, "Are you hungry?" To which Haruyuki replied, "no," apathetically and tiredly. Tanjirou could hear Haruyuki's stomach growl despite the refusal and grabs Haruyuki by the hand and pulls him up.
"You are coming with us home and mom can help you and feed you." Haruyuki doesn't respond at all, letting himself be lead to the Kamado household.
[Kamado Household Afternoon]
"Mom, Nezuko and I are home! We brought a friend with us!"
Kamado Kie looks up from her cooking and sees Tanjirou and Nezuko with a boy with dead eyes. She moves herself and goes over to the boy with worry. "What happened to you, young man?"
Haruyuki replies, "I am alone, is what happened." After receiving such an answer, Kie responds saying, "I am sorry," she then goes in front of Haruyuki and hugs him. With Tanjirou and Nezuko seeing this, they both join their mother in hugging Haruyuki, to which he then begins to cry into Kie's kimono, hugging the three back.
"I am fine, now, though I feel that I may need to do something's later to clear my mind and be more at peace," Haruyuki states to the three members of the Kamado household.
[Kamado Household Dinner]
[Chikage Haruyuki - TPP]
Haruyuki waits quietly and gracefully on the side and sees a man enter the house, 'He must be Tanjirou and Nezuko's father,' Haruyuki thought. Haruyuki moves himself and bows, quietly greeting Tanjirou's father.
Kamado Tanjūrō, nods his head in response and sits at the table with Haruyuki. Tanjirou and Nezuko enter the room with Kie all bringing dinner to the table. Everyone begins to eat, though Kie and Tanjūrō notice how slowly Haruyuki is eating and see how graceful he was consuming the meal set out before him by Kie.
After having finished dinner, Haruyuki moves out and into the snow at the dead of night to get ready to meditate. He gathers wood and stones from the surrounding area. He then sharpens the two stones against each other and use them to carve a bowl out of a small log and uses that to gather snow.
He draws a circle and creates a fire from the carved out log, which the fire is south of him outside of the circle. He then places a stone (which he was lucky enough to find that it has tiny crystals in it) to the north, the wooden bowl of water (snow melted near the fire) to the west. Checking his person, he found that his personal fan and his fan used for mediation wasn't transported to this time with him, or maybe it did and he has to go find it again.
He walks into the Kamado household and asks Kie if she has a fan that he can use, which she gives him a checker marked folding fan, which he gracefully accepts before moving outside again to place the fan to the East. In the center of his circle, he draws a perfect symmetrical pentagram that touches the edge of the circle, the top of the pentagram, pointing to the north where the stone is. He then draws the kanji 水(drawn in the top left triangle of the pentagram)、火(bottom left triangle) 、地(bottom right triangle)、風(top right triangle)、空(triangle at the top).
Haruyuki then sits himself in the center of the pentagram which is in the center of the circle, he is positioned in a lotus position with his hands forming the mudra, Dhyana, every hour that passes, he slowly performs kuji-in, one of the nine mudras every hour, before finally returning to the Dhyana mudra by the time it is morning. He stands up where he is and puts his hands together before pulling one out from the other like unsheathing a blade from its scabbard. He feels at peace.
When everyone awakens and arrive outside to see what Haruyuki is up to, they see that he standing up putting his hands together before sliding one out from the other, they suddenly see him yell out loud, "臨(Rin)、兵(Pyou)、闘(Tou)、者(Sha)、皆(Kai)、陣(Jin)、列(Retsu)、在(Zai)、前(Zen)、えーい!" They see his right hand move left and down as if drawing a lattice with nine strokes, after which his scream at the end he moves his hand, thrusting it to the center before pulling up his left hand to be the sheath and sheath his right hand in it.
Looking around Haruyuki notices them, "Oh? Did I wake all you up? I am very sorry."
Hearing this, Kie responded, "Not at all, we were curious as to why you were out all night, and we all woke up to see how you are doing to see you finishing what you are doing. It actually reminds me of Tanjūrō, here who practices Hinokami Kagura every year, except when does so, he does so all day without rest."
"Ah... Tanjūrō-san, can I see this Hinokami Kagura? I would like to maybe add this to repertoire of practices whenever I am have time to perform my spiritual practices."
"That is something that you could see when it is new years which is a couple days from now, that is when we practice it every year."
"Ah, okay that is fine, I can wait to see it, after that, I shall be helping you to repay you guys before I go off on my own journey."
Hearing this, Kie asks Haruyuki, "Why would you want to go out on a journey when you are just a small child, you won't be able to protect yourself and the world is a dangerous place," to which Haruyuki responds, "I need to find those whom I care for greatly, if I can't find them, then it will be hard for me to live my life by myself."
She doesn't respond back to this, all she does is nod her head.
[Kamado Household New Years Eve]
[Chikage Haruyuki - FPP]
I awaken early in the morning long before the sun rises, the moon still visible in the sky. I walk outside and begin to chop wood for the Kamado's for letting me stay with them. I keep thinking to myself, 'I don't want to be a bother nor a burden.' By the time the sun rises at the horizon, I decide to meditate at this key moment in time when the light of the world and the shadow of the other side both exist, selenelion.
The crunching of the snow is made as I listen. I look up and turn my head to see Tanjūrō walk up to me in his ritualistic apparel, setting up twelve torches in a circle nearby, the torches, evenly distanced from each other. I watch as he lights them and stand at the center of the circle. He begins to perform Hinokami Kagura is what I am assuming, seeing as he told me when I would be able to see him perform his practices.
I watch diligently, memorizing every single detail of this dance. The fluidity, the precision, the change of pace from slow and flowing to fast and sharp. Every breath I hear, noted in the case that a certain regulated breath or way of breathing is required to perform such a dance. I continue to watch him in awe at the power, elegance, and beauty of this dance for what it is.
[Kamado Household New Years Day]
[Chikage Haruyuki - FPP]
I watch the final moments of Tanjūrō's practiced dance and walk up to him as he is just about finished. I wait, holding in a held breath in the case more of this dance is continued, but nothing. I speak to him, "Kamado-san, your dance was breath taking, sir. It's beauty brought me to awe at you for your dedication to this dance of yours along with your endurance as well."
"Thank you, Chikage-san, for the compliment. One of these days I am sure that you would be a fine addition to my family, whether we adopt you or you marry into it in the future. You seem to have a good head on your shoulders."
"I doubt I can ever find love in this era with how I am. I am empty and apathetic at times, I doubt being such a thing every once and a while is not a something that is looked for in family nor a husband. Besides, seeing that look in your eyes and with how you act, I get the feeling that you can keep a secret, just like others I have trusted in the past as well."
"You don't have to tell me it, if you don't have to nor need to."
"It is fine, that feeling of trust I get from you, I feel I can tell you it."
"If it pleases you, then please, tell me it."
"I am a person traveling through time."
"What?"
"Indeed, every time I had built a relationship and had something, family, friends, lovers, I lose them, I end up elsewhere in time. I have been apart of the Sengoku era, the mid-Heian era to the early Kamakura era, fighting in a world war decades from now, and being originally from the future, about a century into the future from now. you can look at the stories of Oda Nobunaga, Minamoto no Yoshitsune, and Minamoto no Yorimitsu and see that my name may come up."
Minutes pass before Tanjūrō speaks once more, "That is quite a bit to take in, but I am sorry that you could not stay with those you cherish. I don't know what else to say but, my family is open to you if you would like to be with us, we would be fine to have you apart of the family, now that I know your story."
"It is fine, Kamado-san, I know Ibaraki and Shuten Douji should still be around since they are oni, so I will go look for them, but my bond with Raikō and Ushiwakamaru, I cherish them, but I won't get to see them again, unfortunately. Still, I still have those two oni to cherish, so I will find them and maybe after I can reconnect with them. I may come back then."
"I wish you the best on your journey to find those two, Chikage-san."
"Thank you, I shall head off. Though I pray that you and your family stay alive, safe, and well Kamado Tanjūrō-san."
I noticed that I had sat down sometime in my conversation with Tanjūrō, standing up, I stretch, I gather what little things I began to gather from my time living with the Kamado family and say my goodbyes to them and head off to Mt. Ibuki. 'I shall head there first to see if Shuten and Ibaraki are there or if they may have moved back to Mt. Ōe, I know back then they did like moving between their two lairs, though they did occasionally stopped by and lived at Minamoto's home or at my home, though given I was gone for so long, my home is either in disrepair or gone from age, and given how things played out after both Minamotos' times their old homes may not be there. So either Mt. Ibuki, Mt. Ōe, or my old home, if it still exists.' I begin to my journey at the young age again of eight, heading west towards Mt. Ibuki.
