A/N: This has been stuck in my head for weeks now and i decided to share it to you guys.
Baka..
The Hokage Office was filled with silence and only the sound of their breathing could be heared. Shock and disbelief were plastered on the Godaime's face as she stares at the familiar man across her desk. There was a knot in her heart that's making it hurt, a weird feeling was spread inside her stomach that she couldn't quite explain. She gazed at him from the top and to the bottom with her widened amber eyes. Same hair, tan skin, obsidian eyes, red marks, 6 foot tall. It couldn't be...
...right?
"Jiraiya boy has fallen in battle.."
...it couldn't be.
"Uhm Tsunade..." He spoke, as he started to feel awkward just standing in the middle of the room with her staring at him. "Are you ok-"
BAM
Without him realizing her growing anger, he was hardly punched on the guts sending him across the room.
"Ugh!"
"YOU IDIOT!!" Tsunade yelled, teeth gritted and fists are clenching. She didn't really knew why she's suddenly angry at him. She didn't want to be angry in the first place. She didn't want to hit him. It's just her emotions were so unexplainable and confusing that anger overcome. And without even thinking, she let that firing anger inside her spread that she even started punching him.
"Wait a minute Tsuna! I'm still fragile! Calm down!" He said with his hands trying to grasp hers in order to stop her from punching him more.
"HOW CAN I COME DOWN?!" She yelled again, but this time her lips were quivering and her jaw is clenching. A blue feeling has started to push the anger inside her. "YOU IDIOT!"
"Y-you absolute idiot.." And there she is, sobbing. Her knees went numb in anticipation, she fell on the wooden floor with a thud. Tears were started to stream down on her flushed cheeks as she sob infront of the man she punched. "How can you come back like nothing happened?"
"You almost d-died.."
Jiraiya looked at her with an unexplainable expression. He just came back from his battle with pain three weeks ago and was relieved that he's still alive after all those horrible things. He had expected this. Expected that she'll get furious at him, but he did not expect her to cry in the end. Why...is she crying? What are those tears for?
He can't really tell but there was a sudden ache inside him while he's seeing her cry. Tsunade is a tough woman but seeing her cry makes her a fragile piece of treasure...
...a fragile piece of treasure that you cannot touch because it might break.
He himself is a pro when it comes to words, but right now...he couldn't utter a single word. He went close to her, ready to pull her into a warm hug when she started sobbing hard. "I-it's okay, Tsunade-"
SMACK
A loud smack on his right cheek made him freeze. Did she just slapped him? It feels like his soul left his body once her palm met his cheek. "It hurts..." He spoke in his mind.
"...my heart hurts..."
"Why?"
"IT'S NOT OKAY!!" She finally got a courage to look at him straight in the eyes. Not caring if her eyes is filled with tears. "How could you possibly say that it's okay?"
"Jiraiya.." Taking a deep breath, once she saw his expression she suddenly felt guilty for slapping him on the cheek. But that did not stop her. "You almost died."
"And you don't know how it hurts me so much! It broke me into tiny pieces!" She sniffled, "And there you were, joking about you dying."
There was a sob that reached her ears, and this time...it was not her. Tsunade looked at Jiraiya, his head is bowed down. Droplets of tears were starting to fall on the wooden floor. She didn't expected this man infront of her to shed tears. Nor she never did expected him to cry as he's always keeping his usual tough act. But seeing him cry, makes her want to cry.
And without expecting it again, she was pulled onto him. He embraced her so tightly, she could feel him tremble against her body as he apologize over and over again.
"I'm sorry."
He didn't exactly know why is he crying. Maybe because of the guilt inside him. He wasn't supposed to cry, he was supposed to be happy since he came back in the village.
"I'm sorry.."
"...i'm sorry, Tsunade."
Moments later..
In the noisy Hospital, inside the Godaime's office. Jiraiya sat on the couch with Tsunade sitting on the tiled floor infront of him. After the crying session between them, both of them had settled down and worked things out but as Tsunade said earlier..
"I couldn't really bring myself to forgive you..."
She got a point in there. I mean how could she forgive him for not calling her for a back-up when he promised he would. She's disappointed at him. He could see it plastered on her face as she wraps a bandage around his hand with her eyes staring at his hands while she works and with her lips curved a little into a pout.
The room was filled with awkward silence, not until a fast steps of a foot could be heared outside.
BAM
"SO IT'S TRUE!" A blonde cerulean eyed teenager exclaimed as he stares at the Gama Sennin with gleaming eyes.
Tsunade took a deep breath and stopped working on the bandages. "Done." She coldly stated as she quickly stood up with the bandage on her hand, completely ignoring the fact that the most loud mouthed boy in the village is in there.
Naruto sat beside his old master with a grin playing his lips. "So Ero-Sennin! I'm glad to know that you're not really dead."
"Jeez kid, you sound like you wanted me to." Jiraiya uncomfortably said, never taking his eyes off of Tsunade whose currently putting her medical equipments in a bag.
"Are you kidding! I didn't even left my apartment when i got the news. I even kept buying that popsicle you keep buying when we're on a mission-"
BAM
With a loud sound of the door, Tsunade had walked out without uttering a single word, leaving a confused boy and a man.
"What's up with Granny Tsunade?" Naruto asked as he stares at the closed door. "Did you two get into a fight?"
Jiraiya sighed. "Kinda."
"What do you mean 'kinda'?"
Jiraiya looked at the tiled floor as he scratch the back of his head in anticipation. "Well, we had uhm...a crying 'session' earlier but before that she was really furious at me."
"Did you worked things out?" Naruto asked.
"Not really-"
"NOT REALLY?!" Naruto exclaimed in disbelief. "Then why was she aiding you a minute ago?"
"She said she couldn't really bring herself to forgive me. I'm sure she's disappointed at me. She's not even talking to me or looking at me."
"Then why not fix things with her?"
Jiraiya groaned in anticipation. "It's not that easy, Naruto. You know her, she's the most stubborn woman in the village. But i suppose i could give it a shot. It wouldn't hurt right?"
"Maybe. But you got this, Ero-Sennin!" Naruto held out a thumb as he gave Jiraiya a thumbs up with a cheerful grin playing on his lips. "Now, how about i show you the new jutsu i learned!"
It was now afternoon and Jiraiya is now infront of the Hokage Office's door with a bottle of sake in his hand after the sparring session he had with Naruto. He had been pacing back and forth for a minute now. He didn't exactly know why but he's nervous. Who knows what would Tsunade's mood be, right?
Knock
Knock
"Who's there?" Tsunade asked, not taking her eyes off of the papers.
The door creacked open, slowly revealing Jiraiya. Once Tsunade looked up from the papers, her expression didn't changed. There still wasn't any expression.
"What do you want?" She sighed, returning her eyes on the papers.
He cleared his throat as he held out the sake, "Uhm i brought this."
She stopped scribbling on the paper once she caught a glimpse of the sake bottle in the corner of her eye. Taking a deep sigh, she placed the paper on top of the finished papers and reached for another one. "Did i just say that your guts can't still handle alcohol?"
"Yes, but this is actually for you-"
"So what's the catch?" Tsunade asked, still not looking up from the paper and cutting him off in the process.
He stayed silent for a moment. "Damn, why am i nervous? I can't speak up properly. She just looks like she's about to punch me."
He took a deep breath before speaking up, "Look Hime, i can't stand you avoiding having long conversations with me or long eye contacts. I know you're disappointed at me and i completely understand. But this is something i can't stand."
Tsunade finally looked up from the paper, she arched a brow in amusement but her cold expression did not change."You're apologizing? Again. Didn't i said that i couldn't br-"
"Yes i know that you couldn't bring yourself to forgive me. But give me a permission to make it up to you."
"Make it up to me?" She snorted. "Since when did you make it up to me?"
He sighed at her stubborness. "Look Tsunade, give me a week to prove that i'm sorry-"
"And if i don't forgive you?" She suddenly asked.
"You can boss me around." He grumbled, regreting the words.
"Oh really?" There was an evil grin playing her lips. Who knows what will she do to him if she don't forgive him in the end of the week.
He swallowed hard when he saw that bone chilling grin of hers. "Y-yes."
"Okay. Fine, i'll give you a week. You better keep your words, or else."
Happiness started to rush in him when she agreed. He grinned at her breath takingly and Tsunade couldn't help but feel something warm inside her when she witnessed him grin at her. It's making her smile in the process. What is she exactly feeling?
"I'll see you on monday then!" He stated. Since it's Friday today, he decided to start the week on monday. He turned around and was about to leave when she spoke, stopping him in the process.
"Wait, if i forgive you what will you get?" She asked.
He think of it for a moment and decided to answer her with a few simple words. "I get to have a chance to go out with you." He grinned at her again.
For the first time in years, Tsunade felt a tingling feeling inside her chest.
