Chapter 1: Parking Permit

There was a flickering of light in the vast empty void of space. Suddenly the space ripped open and an object was flung through.

Despite calling itself a ship, it would have better been described as a flying junkpile, scraps of metal hastily welded together and sections exposed to the vacuum of space, a clearly rushed attempt at creating a flight based craft.

And it showed.

Several portions of the ship were damaged as they floated just outside of the hull, scorch marks could be seen littering the side of the vessel as it limped its way through space.

All in all, it wasn't exactly in the best shape.

"Friksis!" A large, four armed figure shouted out amidst the alarms and the frantic scrambling on the bridge, a tremor had the figure stumble slightly and grip onto their chair for support "Damage report!"

A screen flickered slightly and a voice called through "Are you interested in the good news or the bad news?"

"Friksis!"

"Good news then." Friksis continued, completely ignoring the rather aggressive tone "Good news is that we have made a successful jump, the drive we scavenged worked properly and the ship held together well enough that we weren't ripped apart the second we turned it on!"

"My ship is falling to pieces and half of the screens are broken and sparking!" The figure stomped forwards and slammed two of his hands onto the panel in front of the screen "What is the damage?"

"...Bad. Jump drive melted just after we exited." There was a slight pause "With the parts we have on hand...it isn't repairable."

The figure released an angry hiss, Friksis continued on "I haven't been able to run a complete analysis on the damage...but if we don't find a place to land and make repairs soon...it won't be good."

The figure released a sigh as he stood back up to his impressive eleven foot height "Vasgir!" the figure barked out "Where are we, did the jump drive get us to Misraaks signal?"

The smaller six foot figure looked away from their panel and gave the larger figure a slightly hesitant look "No Captain...The attack from the Hive damaged our navigation controls before we made the jump…"

The giant stalked towards him to the point where he towered over the smaller figure "Where are we?"

Vasgir swallowed before shrinking further into their seat "...The star clusters do not match any known location…"

"...We're lost then." The Captain returned to their full height "Are we near any habitable system?"

"Preliminary scans show a...promising planet." Vasgir perked up slightly "Orbit around the star is within acceptable bounds for supporting life...although their moon appears to be damaged."

"Damaged?" The Captain tilted his head "How damaged?"

Vasgir pressed several buttons before an image popped up on their screen, the moon was, for lack of a better word, shattered as if something had blasted it apart.

The Captain took in a breath before flicking his eyes back to the navigator "Any potential risk of debris falling on the world?"

"From our distance? I can't accurately calculate. We'd need Itaklos."

The Captain released a small growl as he stalked back to his chair "How far away from the planet are we?"

"Holding position at 642,000km from the planet." Vasgir replied.

"Friksis, are in-system engines functional?"

"They work." Friksis spoke out "But its fuel consumption that concerns me. The Hive attacked before we were fully fuelled up."

"Can we reach the planet or not."

"We can. But if we can't find a suitable fuel replacement we won't be going back."

"I will not have our lifeless bodies float through the void of space. Vasgir, set in a destination." The Captain looked to the side and pointed at one of the smaller figures putting out a fire "Phisken!" the figures head darted over to the Captain "Find Itaklos and bring him to the bridge."

"Yes, Captain." Phisken nodded their head and darted out of the room.

"Time until we reach outer scanning range?" The Captain turned back to Vasgir, the dreg looked over their shoulder to him.

"Two days...Then it will be another two before we are in orbit of the planet."

The Captain growled and looked to the side "Keep me informed." he turned around and marched out of the room.

The Eliksni were darting around, furiously making repairs. The few that noticed the Captain gave him a quick salute before they returned to their work. Most were more occupied with their tasks at hand.

The Captain walked through the corridors before he came to a stop at the door to another room. The door had been fixed open as wounded were lining up outside of the area, either leaning against the walls or on top of tables or crates.

Effectively a makeshift medical bay.

"Vrovkys." The Captain called out as he caught sight of a smaller individual, currently tending to a wounded dreg missing an arm. The Vandal looked up slightly before going back to work in treating the wound.

"Kell." He greeted back, the Captain sighed as he walked towards him, occasionally looking at the other wounded.

"I've told you, if you must call me something either Captain or Adolviks. I am no longer a Kell."

Vrovkys snorted, or gave a close approximation of one before releasing a hissing sound which could be construed as a laugh "In that case we hold the title of being the first Eliksni house to be led by a Captain rather than a Kell. A real honour for House Restitution."

"Vrovkys." Adolviks scolded "There is no House Restitution anymore. We have abandoned that title. I am merely a Captain of House Light. That was what the journey was for."

"Oh?" Vrovkys "I will accept Misraaks, bender to light, when he delivers our people back into the Golden Age."

"He is making an attempt to do better." Adolviks narrowed his eyes "We are a dying house, what few we had left are on this ship and the likes of Skolas and Aksis have only succeeded in leading our kind further into the dirt."

"They made an attempt to salvage our pride!" Vrovkys hissed and snapped his head to Adolviks "We are better than kissing the dirt of the thieves and begging for scraps like common animals!"

"If we were, why have we failed time and time again to reclaim what is ours!?" Adolviks shouted back "I was there at the time of the great alliance against the Lightbearers. I was there when they held the gap of Twilight. We cannot beat them...And there are far worse things out there than the Lighbearers." Adolviks sighed "Even The Saint does not come close to the Darkspawn…"

"It comes close enough." Vrovkys muttered "Why are you here?"

Adolviks looked around the room before closing his eyes and releasing a breath "How many are wounded?"

"Hmph." Vrovkys grunted "Of the one hundred and ninety we had? We lost thirty to the Darkspawn before we even took off." the Dreg released a gasp as Vrovkys cauterized his wound shut "We've lost another twenty in the ensuing flight from the planet…" he looked around the room "I can save probably...half of the wounded here."

"Half!?" Adolviks hissed "There are nearly fifty here!"

"And you're lucky I can save half of them! If it were the old times, my medical care would be to shoot them on the spot and harvest the ether from their corpses." Vrovkys went back to the Dreg "I might be able to stabilise most of them to survive long enough for us to link up with House Light."

Adolviks stilled slightly before looking around, he gripped Vrovkys by the shoulder and led him to the corner of the room "We...we won't be linking up with House Light or the Lightbearers."

"...What."

"The Jump Drive was damaged in the Hive attack...We were flung of course. We're currently in...uncharted space."

"What!?" Vrovkys seethed "I was being optimistic when I said I could save half because I was hoping for resupply from other Eliksni! Without those supplies I can save barely a third in here!"

"We're close enough to a habitable planet. Vasgir states we are only four days from it. Can you stabilise them that long?"

"I'm doing my best to keep them alive right now! I can't ma-"

"Can you give me four days?" Adolviks asked again in a sterner tone which silenced the Vandal. Vrovkys clenched his hands before he looked into Adolviks eyes.

"Five days at best. You have five days before I'll be forced to use the medicine of the old times to save what few I can."

"...Thank you, old friend."

"Tch." Vrovkys gave a hiss "You can thank me by finding supplies to work with. Our ether tanks are at poor capacity as it is. I don't want to save these Eliksni just to starve them."

"We'll manage." Adolviks stood back up and turned around, as he left Vrovkys clasped his wrist.

"You need to tell the crew." Adolviks head twitched slightly "I mean it. Its only a matter of time before they find out and with morale as low as it is in the wake of the Darkspawn ambush."

"I'll tell them." Adolviks nodded his head "I'll tell them when the situation has calmed and we all have an opportunity to think. Telling them now will only cause panic...We're in poor enough shape as it is."

"Hmm…" Vrovkys grunted and let go of his arm "As long as you tell them...I'm not dying due to a depression fuelled mob of angry crewmembers because you didn't know how to tell everyone how doomed we are."

"We're not doomed." Adolviks rolled his eyes "We Eliksni survive. We always do."

"I've got a room full of corpses that would disagree with you." Vrovkys snarked "Best be on your way. I'll see what I can manage here. Maybe I won't have to shoot half my patients."

"I don't believe I've ever heard you sound so optimistic."

"I'm in an optimistic mood." Vrovkys "Now get out of my medical warehouse-slash-morgue."

"Yes...I need to speak with Zepis anyway." Adolviks continued on his walk out of the room, leaving behind Vrovkys cursing about why Zepis couldn't have been injured. Much to the Captains annoyance.

"Ensure the Skiffs are properly maintained!" Zepis shouted out to the Eliksni as they ran around the hangar "I want everything in perfect condition for when we land. Ne excuses will be tolerated."

"Zepis." A voice called out, the Eliksni captain turned around to see Adolviks walking towards him.

Zepis snapped to attention and bowed his head immediately "I wasn't expecting your arrival, Kell."

Adolviks sighed "I told you, I am no Kell…" he shook his head "I am relieved to see you uninjured."

"Hmph, I would rather face a Darkspawn knight than Vrovkys medical care."

Adolviks released a small chuckle before continuing on "I am here for inventory. Much of the ship is damaged and I've already visited the wounded. What is the status of our equipment?"

Zepis raised his head "We have two skiffs fully functional, the third will be need repaired. As far as walkers go, we have Four which can be operated at an adequate capacity."

"Good." Adolviks nodded his head "Troop wise?"

"Aniksas reports that she and her specialists are without casualty. The armoury was able to avoid the damage and is in functioning capacity. Nilvaks reports that his squad is down to two thirds of its members and Zelkron has lost half of his scavengers. Friksis tells me that he lost nearly fifty shanks. We have sixty in a functioning state. We were able to save the Servitors. Fifteen are still functional."

Adolviks nodded and looked around before leading Zepis to the corner of the room "There has been an issue. I have already briefed Vrovkys but the Hive knocked forced us into an emergency jump. We were knocked off course and are now in uncharted space...With no current way back." he raised his hand when Zepis eyes went wide and made to speak "We are not without hope just yet. We are currently four days away from a habitable planet. With luck we can find another civilisation to make repairs...if not, we can at least found a colony."

"I…understand, Kell." Zepis nodded his head "When do you plan to inform the crew?"

"We have lost a great deal of our number. I will wait for the panic to dwindle before I inform them of our situation. After we are close enough to the planet for scanning range, we shall see where we stand. Although tell Aniksas to prepare her specialists...We are in no position for a mass assault."

"I understand, Kell." Zepis nodded his head "I will ensure that Aniksas and her troops are ready for a possible deployment. Scavenge or scouting?"

"I shall inform you closer to the time." He nodded his head and looked back over the hangar "I shall leave you to your work."

"Most intriguing." Itaklos hummed as he looked over the picture of the planet and the broken moon "Most intriguing indeed."

"What is he doing?" Phisken looked over at Vasgir, the smaller dreg shrugged his shoulders.

"He's been doing that since he got looked at the picture. Hasn't said anything else except 'intriguing'." Vasgir sighed "I thought he was going to expand on it but he's just kept repeating the same thing over and over again."

"I can hear you." Itaklos spoke over to the pair, casting a sideways glance over his shoulder before looking back at the screen "And I'm saying it's intriguing because it is. Its more than that, its positively fascinating. I would elaborate, but I doubt either of you have the intellect to understand the significance of this."

"...It's a planet with a messed up moon." Phisken shrugged his shoulders "What's so interesting about it?"

"The interesting thing about it, you fool, is that the planet-" Itaklos turned around and began speaking, only to straighten out his posture "Ah, Captain. You're here, good. I wouldn't want to repeat myself."

"I wouldn't want you to either." Adolviks replied as he walked up to the group "What were you saying about the planet?"

"Ah, yes." Itaklos rapidly nodded his head and pointed at the screen "It still sustains life!"

"…"

"…"

"Are you planning on elaborating on this?"

"Of course. The planet itself sustains life, despite the rather impressive debris field that orbits it. With the size of the debris and the damage to the moon, it is inconceivable that the world could actually sustain life for any significant length of time. They should be prone to extinction level events quite frequently and the surface should show some signs of damage." He span around and threw his arms wide "But it doesn't!"

"Do you know why?"

"No!" He gave a bright reply, his eyes indicating he was giving an approximation of a smile "And we won't know more without sending a probe!"

"We have a probe ready?"

"Nope!"

"Then why did you suggest it?" Vasgir tilted his head and narrowed his eyes, Itaklos whirled on him.

"Because I can just build one. Why else?"

"How long would it take?" Adolviks interrupted before Vasgir could respond, sending the pair an irritated look.

"I would need one of the smaller engines. I could probably scavenge the smaller jump drive of one of the busted skiffs. Probably…" He made several clicking noises before replying "Six hours. Eight if you want it relaying more specific data on the planet."

Adolviks crossed his arms and hummed in thought before replying "Speak with Zepis, take the supplies you need. You act on my behalf. Build your probe and launch it."

"Right away!" Itaklos beamed and sprinted out of the room, muttering the whole time "A strange world, how exciting!"

"...I think he's Ether starved." Phisken leaned down and whispered into Vasgir's ear, the smaller dreg released a small chuckle before Adolviks snapped his head to the pair.

"He is also the smartest Eliksni on this ship and without his and Friksis aid, we have no possibility of getting underway. Show him some respect."

"Yes Captain/Yes Sir!"

Adolviks growled and turned his head back to the rest of the bridge "Byviks. Alert the crew that I intend to make an announcement in two hours."

The vandal silently turned to him and nodded once before pressing several buttons. Moments later the automated announcement echoed across the ships intercoms.

"I will retire to my quarters and think of a way to break our predicament to the crew in a manner that doesn't end with me killed and my corpse stripped for Ether."

"They can't blame you, Sir." Vasgir spoke up as the Captain walked out of the room.

"Can't they?" He released a bitter chuckle "It was my idea to try and join up with House Light to begin with. Survivors we Eliksni may be...We also hold a grudge."

Aniksas sat atop a crate, the grating sound of metal being sharpened filled the room as she took a whetstone over her shock blades. The other members continued to work maintenance on their weapons before a voice perked up.

"What about team Nova?" Immediately several voices sighed out, Aniksas rolled her four eyes before she looked over at the marauder working on his pike. The smaller individual turned to the others before crossing his arms. "What? I think it's an acceptable name."

"We're a covert team, Vilzak." The vandal cloaked in a dark hood turned his attention away from his wire rifle and looked over to him "We are supposed to avoid detection. A supernova is a cataclysmic spacial event. Subtle it is not."

"That's the point though, Sepyks!" Vilzak snapped his fingers and pointed at him "The humans call it a...words with play!"

"You spend too much time reading on the humans." Another Vandal grunted as he placed his Shrapnel launcher back on the rack "They have corrupted your mind."

"You're a mud stick Goliks. We're supposed to be living with the humans, what's wrong with learning about their culture so we can assimilate into it?"

"That they are as likely to shoot us as Byviks is to skin one of them alive." Goliks dryly put.

"Byviks is House Devils though." Vilzak retorted "He's supposed to be a creepy psychopath."

"He's also in charge of communications aboard the ship, Vilzak." Aniksas spoke up for the first time as she placed her shock blade down "So I'd watch what you say about him. He could be listening in right now."

Vilzak clammed up and his eyes went wide "H-he wouldn't really do that...Would he?"

"You are the one most frequent to insulting him." Sepyks spoke up "I believe the one time I heard him speak was to say how much you disgusted him for acting like the humans." Vilzak turned to him with obvious terror "I'd say you are simply giving him cause to hate you more than he already does."

"You're all here, good." A voice called out, the team turned to see Zepis march into the room and look them over. The group quickly snapped to attention "Kell Adolviks wants you prepared. We are likely to be deploying you within the next few days."

"Do we have an assigned mission, Sir?" Aniksas asked, Zepis turned his head to her.

"Specifics are unavailable, however your mission will likely involve reconnaissance first. With Nilvaks squadron at half strength, you and your specialists are our main force at the moment. Prepare yourselves for departure at a moments notice."

"Yes, Sir." Aniksas nodded her head, the other wordlessly copied the gesture. Zepis grunted in acknowledgement before he turned around and left the room.

"Reconnaissance?" Vilzak spoke up "I thought we were supposed to be meeting up with House Light? Why would we need a scouting party?"

"Vilzak." Goliks turned to him and placed a single hand on his shoulder "Shut up."

"Is this intercom working?" Adolviks asked, Byviks looked up and nodded once at him. The larger Captain took in a deep breath.

"Don't worry Captain." Vasgir said "I'm sure you'll do fine!"

"Hmmm." Adolviks grumbled and pressed the small button "Attention crew of the Akrilis-Fel. This is Adolviks speaking. I am pleased to report that we have successfully escaped the Darkspawn...however this is not without a loss of life and I am saddened to say that we have lost a great deal of our brothers and sisters." he paused briefly "As rumours have no doubt been circulating, it is true that we have not yet linked up with Misraaks and House Light. This is because...Because our jump drive was damaged in the escape. We are, unfortunately, stranded in unknown space."

"However, we are not without hope. I have been informed that we are close to a habitable planet. With luck we will make the repairs that are needed and then leave to join up with House Light and carve out a home for us among the humans. I ask that we stay the journey for a little longer. We have come to far, placed so much at risk to attempt this. To lose our hope now would be an insult to those who have perished thus far. Therefore, in the coming days when we will inevitably face hardships."

"I ask that you stay the course, place your trust in your fellow Eliksni that we shall weather the storm. Together we survived the exodus of the machine, together we survived the great journey through the void, we survived the war against the lightbearers and we survived to see the possibility of peace dawn across the horizon. We are Eliksni. We shall survive this storm and we shall endure this setback. We will repair the ship, we will sail to Earth. We shall link up with House Light and we shall unite with our brothers and sisters alongside the humans against the Darkspawn and their masters who threaten all."

"For the Light of the Great Machine will shine on us again. That is all."

Adolviks took his hand off the red button and stood back up. There was silence for a few moments before someone spoke out.

"I don't here the screeching of doomsingers yet. I shall assume your speech has won over the crew." Adolviks turned to see Vrovkys stroll onto the bridge "Wasn't a bad speech, although the only Eliksni public speakers I ever heard were Skolas, the Rabid. My opinion might be biased though."

"Skolas was named the Rabid for a reason." Adolviks sighed "Kell of Kells. He was a Kell who spend years in chains. No one would have ever followed the Awoken dog."

"He did rebel if I recalled."

"And his first act was to engage in hostility with the Lightbearers and steal from the Vex." Adolviks grunted and shook his head "He was a delusional fool and the cosmos is better off without his madness in it."

"You think we'll be able to make it back?"

"I'm the Captain of this ship." Adolviks turned back around and looked out the window "I'm supposed to make sure we get back. I promised our House a better life. I can't deliver it to them here. We shall explore this new world, scavenge what we can and then journey to the home of the Lightbearers and the Great Machine."

"...You don't actually believe in that 'Great Machine will shine on us again' do you?" Vrovkys asked incredulously, Adolviks released an amused huff before turning around and looking down on the vandal.

"I believe I would rather stand with the Lightbearers than against them. We have hundreds of years of fighting to prove that."

"...Hmph." Vrovkys grunted and turned around "I'll return to my morgue. I have Eliksni to care for."

"I wish you good fortune, old friend." Adolviks spoke as the Vandal left the bridge "It's something we could all do with right now…"

AN: Thought I'd try something a little different.

So...We have the first disastrous adventure of the crew of the Akrilis-Fel. A fa-...An Eliksni centric Fanfic.

Because I don't think our four limbed friends get enough love...Also I recently read Transformers Lost Light and got inspired to write a space fic.

Its a really good comic, made me laugh, made me cry and made me cheer.

And in RWBY!

Because...Aliens!

But I was looking for universes where I didn't want it to be too wide spread so I narrowed it down, to shows I have actually watched, and decided on this!

Also this story won't be updated again until I finish one of my other stories.

So...Could be a few weeks. Maybe. Depends how quickly I plough through it.

Anyway…

Till next time!
