Hello! It's been a while, everyone. I'd also like to say that I've been working on my other stories but it still takes me a while to type the episode and then add reactions. Anyways! Welcome to my new story! I'm going to post this first chapter to see if people want to read it. I'll also crosspost this on the Archive of our own. This one is actually completed! I promise! Anyways, now I mainly based everything off of the animated movie universe and the comic book version of these characters so yeah. I've had this little idea for a while.

I've had this little idea for a while.

Enjoy!

If Barry was asked how he managed to get himself into the situations he found himself in, Barry wouldn't know how to answer. All he wanted to do was have a nice, calm afternoon picnic with his wife and nephew.

Barry glanced down at the platform he'd been forced to stand upon. He was standing on the trapped floor. Which made Barry nervous. Looking slightly behind Riddler, he saw other park goers who had also been tied up. Wally and Iris being two of them. He turned back to the Riddler, who was talking into the camera that was broadcasting this to every news station in Central.

Oh, just this once let there be someone responsible on watch monitor duty. Barry thought hopelessly to himself.

The day had started off normal. They had prepared for the picnic all morning. Iris wanted it to be as normal as possible since they would need to bring a larger amount of food for the two speedsters.

When they arrived at the park, Wally immediately headed off to his favorite place to hang out. The conversations flowed easily enough. Each of them were able to finally relax. Wally and Barry had started a game of frisbee when it happened.

A man in a green vest, and a question mark cane walked into the middle of the park. He seemed to be carrying something in his hand. Wally had been the first one to notice him. He watched as the man placed some device on the ground. Wally's eyes widened when an old fashioned gallows unfolded out of the box.

Barry, seeing his nephew's surprise, turned to investigate. Imagine his surprise to find the Riddler standing in the middle of the park, an old gallows behind him.

Other people in the park noticed the gallows and decided that leaving would be the safest option. So people started to run. Riddler just laughed and started to mess with some kind of watch.

A force field suddenly encompassed the entire park. Barry's eyes widened. Since when did Riddler have this much tech? Not that Barry knew much about Batman's baddies.

His henchmen, who'd been dressed in civvies, started to tie up everyone who had gotten trapped. One started walking in their direction, Wally tensed up beside him, ready to use his powers if the need arose. Barry discreetly shook his head in his direction. The man grabbed Barry first. His hands were painfully yanked behind him.

Wally made to take a step forward to stop them but Iris grabbed his arm and pulled him back. Barry made eye contact with the both of them before he was led away. The man shoved him into another guy's hands.

Barry winced when the man roughly shoved him onto his knees. They were all lined up in front of the Riddler, who was smirking in amusement. He looked at everyone walking to the very end of the line.

Barry startled when someone plopped down right beside him. Turning he saw Iris and Wally. He tried to smile reassuringly, but he could tell by their expressions that they could see through his smile.

"We're going to play a little game. I'm going to go down the line and ask a Riddle. If you don't get them right. Well." His smile became roguish. "Better hope you don't find out."

The girl at the front of the line couldn't seem to find the courage to look him in the eye. But regardless, he told his riddle. "When you have me more, you can see only less. What Am I?"

The girl started to shake in fear. Her voice was shaky when she gave her answer.

"Blindness?"

The Riddler shook his head in disappointment, before moving on to the next one. The girl noticeably let out a breath of relief.

The next guy didn't seem to have realized the severity of the situation he was in. Barry could tell by how calm the guy seemed when the Riddle said.

"The person who built it sold it. The person who bought it never used it. The person who used it never saw it. What am I?"

"A Cane?"

He was noticeably irritated at the answer. And in a sudden rush of movement he smashed the top of his cane into the side of the other guy's face. The girl from before cried out in surprise and started to sob uncontrollably. The guy fell backwards, groaning in discomfort.

Without thinking, Barry moved to help the guy next to him. But Barry was knocked back on the ground with a similar hit to his own face.

"Barry!" Iris yelled, moving closer to him.

Grunting slightly, he slowly managed to maneuver back into a sitting position. The Riddler was waiting impatiently for him to make eye contact. So when he motioned for his men to fix it. The guy behind him pulled Barry up by his hair, causing Iris and Wally to shout in protest.

The Riddler walked closer to Barry getting in his face. His eyes narrowed in anger, his hands clenching at his sides. He gave his riddle.

"What is black when you buy it, red when you use it, and gray when you throw it away?"

Barry stopped for a second. Wait? Is this a Chemistry riddle? Black when you buy it. Red when you use it. Gray when you throw it away. A memory of a previous visit to the Garick's flashed in his mind's eye. Iris, Wally and him had all gone to the Garick's to have a Campfire and catch up with each other. Barry honed in on the charcoal that Jay had used to start the controlled fire.

Barry's face lit up in realization. "Charcoal! The answer is Charcoal!"

The Riddler froze. His expression changed to intrigued, the tension in his posture instantly settling. He smiled.

A chill shot up Barry's spine at that smile. Barry knew that the smile that Riddler was giving him didn't bode well for him.
