So, second story I've written.

One one hand, it's incredibly self indulgent. On the other hand, as it pictures me, a guy that likes reading fluffy fanfictions and that you clicked on a story by "itsjustfluff" with Romance and Lucario tags, there's a chance you could recognize yourself here.

(Edit: I've edited the first chapters to cut some of the fluff down. It really was too much, even for me.)

In the middle of the dimly lit street, a grunt could be heard. "Argh, my head... Why is it so cold..."

The human, lying down on the pavement, moves as to push up his bed covers, only to realize they weren't there, jolting him awake.

"Wait. Where... where am I?"

"Oh, Lord. Hold on. Oh man oh man oh man oh man oh man don't tell me-"

Jumping on his two feet, he started looking around, for other people, or any indication of what were his surroundings.

"Noone. Shit."

Looking down at himself, he realizes he actually ended up sleeping with his pants on.

"Wait, my phone!"

His silent exclamation and self-proclaimed stroke of genius (no matter if it was born from last night's stupidity) was only met with a "No Signal" message on his phone, already down to 20% charge.

"Great. Not even a foreign network. In the middle of a city. Oh boy indeed."

He decides to take the chance and turn on his phone's flashlight to look at the street signs.

"Castel-"

His heart skips a beat.

"Castelia City. I woke up in Black and White."

Turning off the battery-devouring feature, he sits down, taking his head into his hands.

"I fucking woke up in Black and White."

He looks at his hands, chest and legs.

"Not even a Pokémon. Oh well, at least I got the bare minimum out of it. 'ts not the same Earth."

The thoughts of "Why?" and "How?" tried to reach him, unsuccessfully. Even though this certainly wasn't one of the worlds he usually dedicated his hours-long daydreams to, it's still the first one he wanted to be in as a child – if he finally was somewhere else, he wasn't going to let his worries take off all the joy from it.

Realizing he's feeling quite thirsty, he decides to get up again and find somewhere to drink, heading left, towards brighter light.

"Darn it, what am I gonna say?! 'Hi, my name's Thomas, I'm actually from another world, I have no clue what I'm doing here, please help me?' I'm in the middle of a city, in a world with humans everywhere, at night! Nobody's going to pay any attention to me – or worse, might spend the night in jail with the police thinking I'm out of an asylum..." He shudders.

The light eventually became stronger, until its shape turned into a sign's, featuring a certain classic red and white object engraved.

"Oh well, that'll give me the occasion to get a check-up just in case, hopefully. Let's hope it's still open, it's probably like 3 A.M..."

He pushes the door, thankfully opened, as he hears who he could only describe as a realistic version of Nurse Joy greet him.

"Hi, uh... I've actually woken up around here with a pretty nasty headache, and I can't seem to remember many things anymore... Is this place even okay for humans to get treated at?"

"Absolutely, sir, this is a hospital with both Pokémon and human branches. You're saying you're having a hard time remember things? Hmm... Could you tell name and the current President?"

"My name's Thomas, and, uhh... I'm not sure I was even aware there was a president before..."

"Oh dear... Chansey, go and get the neurophysicist, Ms. Martin, please. Just hold on for a moment, sir, I'll get you something to lie down on with a cushion – if something happened to your head, we don't want it getting any worse."

Lying down on the stretcher, waiting for the doctor on call to wake up, he went back to his favourite pastime. This time, his thoughts focused on the people (including Pokémon) he hopes he'll meet along the way - maybe surprisingly, not once has he thought back about his family on Earth. "Aw, man... Yeah, I kinda exaggerated back then, this place is not that bad. I mean, Snoms are adorable, there's tons of fluffy ones, and oh man, Lu-"

His thoughts were interrupted by the stretcher's squeaking, indicating he's now headed towards the scan room.

"Heh, an MRI it is. Better give my phone to that Chansey." Entering the room, the undergrad student does his best to rememorate the anecdote heard from his physics teacher a week before – along with the whole principle behind magnetic resonance, as if he was going to be back for a test the next day.

Science didn't help him rationalize his stress here, however, as his stretcher was lowered into the slowly buzzing machine. He started to worry that all of this was only a dream, that he eventually would have to go back at one point.

And he couldn't accept it.

About two hours later, the door to his hospital room opened, with a woman in a white coat following.

"You don't have anything out of the ordinary, it seems. You did seem very, very tired, however, but that might jjst be the time. Hmm... Do you remember experiencing anything you could call a shock, physical or mental, over the last few days?"

Even if he actually thought he had amnesia, his arrival in Unova was quite gentle – he woke up there from the deepest night of sleep he's had in months.

"Not at all, sorry. But I can use my recent memory just fine! I can remember the moment I woke up totally fine... Though nothing about how I got there. I just went to sleep, and.. woke up two streets away."

As the doctor searches her mind, Thomas tries to figure out what he can make up to make his story sound realistic. "That is odd, to say the least. Well, there's hardly anything we can do for now apart from letting you rest and hope you recover something tomorrow that can help us figure out what happened better. Have a good night... well, morning rather."

As the other human turned right to exit the room (and the "amnesiac" patient breathes again), Thomas heard a voice in his mind, that he could somehow pinpoint as coming from his left.

"Psst."

A blue canine head appeared behind the white privacy curtain drawn across the room. As soon as the human saw it, he nearly jumped out of bed, out of sheer surprise.

"Hi, my name's Luke. Forgive me for the unprompted aura sensing, but I think I can help you."

Just as he feared, the human became instantly red. Out of tiredness and having too many emotions these couple of hours, really. Not at all because the second Pokémon he encountered on his journey was an adorable-looking member of a species he loved, he assured himself. He could feel his own cheeks heating up, before scolding himself in silence.

A silence that went on for what seemed to the two as an uncomfortable amount of time before the flustered human remembered to respond.

"Oh, h-hi, I'm Thomas, nice to meet ya. So, you... you understood what happened to me?"

The Lucario, albeit slightly confused by the human's over-the-top reaction, nodded.

"And you believe it?"

"Can't fake your aura."

"So, uh, want me to tell you about this world or you want to sleep for a bit?"

The human's look acted as a response.

"Here we go, then."

"So, I've heard you talk to yourself before that doctor got here. You definitely know what a Pokémon is and what kind of place Unova is, but you don't know much about our history or practical details, correct?"

"Correct."

"Let's start by the history then. The part you would be the most interested in is the war, it shaped our world as we know it today. The start was just like all the other wars we've had: some officer in the army had an ego issue with another in a neighbour country, and it escalated. It lasted 7 years, and many, from humans to Pokémon, died. For the ones looking to avoid the fights together, however, their bonds tightened a lot. That's how training became a thing of this size, and it's also the reason why Gyms exist today."

The human nodded along with the story.

"Other than that, hmm... There are about 6 billion humans today, and an unknown amount of Pokémon – too many Bug types to count. We are in a democracy with one president per region and a federal leader, we speak English, Japanese or French depending on your region and some other world history shenanigans, and... that's pretty much it for a starter."

"Wait, could you tell me about humans' relationships with Pokémon? Like... How humans use their help, how they interact with each other?"

The Lucario gave him a smirk.

"Well, people keep their Pokémon as pets, some train them, some make them help for work, especially fighting types. Us Lucarios are lucky, however, in that we can communicate directly with humans and can walk on two legs. It makes us able to live by ourselves in the middle of a city like this one. Our leaders recognized that, and we're free to do just about anything a human could do – to the eyes of law, we're just like you. I have a human-like name for a reason."

These last facts made the human visibly happier, yet even more plunged in thoughts.

"To answer the last part of your question, some are purely seen as pets by humans, while some become actual friends, if not close friends. It all depends on the person - Pokémon, especially of my species, are usually quite happy to be treated as a human's equal."

Thomas was left thinking for a good minute, before being hit by a new realization.

"Wait, Luke, when are you supposed to leave the hospital?"

"Tomorrow, actually. They kept me in observation due to my head potentially having suffered after a bad fall, but it did not get any worse as far as I can tell, so I should be good to go."

"Oh."

The canine didn't even wait for the human to overcome his shyness. He sighs.

"I should have room for you at my place. Depends when they let you go, but I should be able to pick you up by car – I live in a house in the suburbs."

"Hold on. You.. you're serious? Even if you just...?! Thank you so much, Luke. Seriously, you could not be of any more help to me right now."

"Don't worry about it, I can only imagine what kind of predicament you'd be left in should you not have anyone to host you for a while. Here, I'll leave you my phone number. I've seen a phone in the hallway that you should be able to use when you'll be discharged."

"Alright, thanks so much again!"

"Hey, don't think all of this help won't come at a cost, though."

Thomas frowned. He doesn't even know how he'd get his hands on Pokédollars. Worsening his confusion, a smile appeared on Luke's face.

"Haha, relax. I only meant you'll have to tell me all about your world, I'm really interested in your story."

The human sighed in relief. Yeah, jokes often flew right above his head.

"I think it's time for the both of us to get some sleep, though."

"Yeah, you're right. Have a great night, Luke."

"You too, and welcome to Unova."

The student closed his eyes, trying to push away the fear of waking up in his bed, by his plushes and late for his day of classes.

Here's the first chapter, hope you enjoyed it! Be sure to review whether you liked it or not, it's much appreciated :)

The rest is, again, better written than this one in my opinion.
