Summary: Lena opens her briefcase when she arrives to work that morning... and smiles at the sight of a folded up slip of paper tucked in atop the paperwork she'd brought home with her the night before.

Little Love Letters

Lena sighed and reached for her cup of National City Jitters coffee, the new chain that had opened up a few weeks ago. It started in Central City, apparently, and was absolutely amazing. And it named all the drinks after local super heroes. The one in Lena's hands was a double espresso latte called the Supergirl.

The look on Kara's face when she realized that the drink was named after her alter ego had been hilarious. Normally Lena could only get her to blush that deeply after putting a hand up her girlfriend's shirt.

After savoring the delicious taste of Supergirl - and Lena loved phrasing it like that where Kara could hear especially - she grabbed her briefcase off the floor and set it on the desk. She'd brought some paperwork home with her to read over last night, trying to figure out what was bothering her about a new project. She'd figured it out after staying up late and was going to have a long day of meetings today having to deal with what she'd found.

Unlatching the case, Lena opened the top and frowned. There was a folded up piece of paper on top of the files that Lena couldn't remember seeing the night before. Though a smile bloomed on her face as she guessed at what it must be. Then she picked up delicately and unfolded it, reading what was scrawled there in her girlfriend's handwriting.

My darling Lena,

I know today will be a long one, so I want you to know I shall be thinking of you all day. Your beautiful smile, your genius brain, your inspiring kindness... and no matter how difficult the day may seem, I promise that this weekend will make the whole week worth it. For this weekend will be dedicated entirely to the pampering of my wonderful girl.

Kara

Lena folded the letter back up and slipped it into her purse, wondering just what Kara had in store for them that weekend.

The day was every bit as long as Lena feared it would be, but rereading the note at lunch and between afternoon meetings gave her the boost she needed to keep going strong.

"So," Lena asked after Kara greeted her at their apartment entryway with a very warm, welcoming kiss. "What's this promise of pampering me this weekend?"

Kara, reluctantly, let go of Lena. She grabbed her own purse and pulled out two passes to Lena's favorite spa. "I think you may have forgotten that tomorrow is your birthday."

Lena made a startled noise and pulled out her phone to check the date. Indeed, she was just a day away from being a year older. She kissed Kara on the cheek. "Thank you for remembering for me. And for your little love note. Made me feel so much better about how today went."

"I'm glad. I know you were really frustrated about the whole thing last night and I wanted to make you feel better about it." Kara's hands moved to settle on to Lena's hips. "Though I do think the pampering should start tonight. What do you think?"

"I think I've been craving the taste of Supergirl all day," Lena teased, her own hand reaching down to ruffle Kara's skirt.

A bright blush pinked Kara's cheeks and all Lena could think of the sight was 'just perfect.'

Later that evening, when they finally get around to ordering dinner, Lena takes a moment to retrieve the note from her purse and heads into the bedroom. There's a little box in her closet and she pulls it down, slipping the folded note inside atop several others. Each telling Lena she's beautiful, smart, strong, brave... and, most of all, deserving to be cared for. All written in Kara Danvers' handwriting.
