At an upscale establishment in NYC, a handsome couple was sitting on the veranda dressed to the nines. The restaurant didn't serve the everyday folks. They're exclusively for the more affluent inhabitants of New York. However, the fine-looking long-haired man's boss owed him a favor, which is how he and his wife ended up celebrating their anniversary at this posh establishment.
Usually, a glorified librarian and a detective wouldn't have been able to afford it. However, Goliath David had recently helped his boss David Xanatos get out of a severe bind. Consequently, dinner was on the boss tonight. Goliath's wife Elisa remained quite pleased when it came to the venue, seeing how she'd fantasized about coming here for years.
"So, I think I'll have the crème calamari tonight. You'll be requesting the lobster tonight?" she inquired before sampling the champagne in her glass.
"Well, I've never had shellfish before, so I might as well try it while we're here. In fact? I'll have crab and lobster, seeing how I won't have an opportunity again to eat them."
"Well, certainly, not on our regular wages, we won't," giggled his wife, who glowed in her striking midnight blue attire. But, unfortunately, they didn't own a lot of formal outfits themselves.
Elisa's apparel has been donated by her husband's boss's wife, Fox. Fox had recently given away a lot of her old clothes to charity. Seeing how she honestly didn't need two walk-in closets worth of them.
In Goliath's opinion? His wife's standard choice of t-shirts and jeans was fine. However, his ex-wife Dominique would disagree. She often said to their daughter, Angela, never trust the fashion sense of a woman who wears nothing but jeans and a t-shirt.
Perhaps it was simply a girl thing to care so much regarding fashion. Either way, it was time to enjoy the night. The couple had been sincerely thankful that their foster daughter Toni agreed to babysit her foster siblings.
Goliath's oldest daughter Angela recently turned eleven, while his youngest daughter had recently turned three. All three girls had an extraordinary sisterly bond which everyone was pleased about.
The same couldn't be said for how Goliath and his brother got along. They're as different as night and day. His twin brother Thailog continuously found a way to ruin all the most enjoyable events of his life.
It seemed thinking of his twin had jinxed the Davids' evening. But, then, because to their horror, Goliath's no-good brother entered the establishment with a young woman with platinum locks in a slinky royal purple attire.
"Damn," cursed Goliath under his breath seeing his twin by the entrance. Elisa stole a glance behind her and shuttered. "Don't do anything to attract attention," she whispered to her husband. Hopefully, if they didn't make eye contact, their evening wouldn't be spoiled.
They're wrong to hope of anything the sort. Which in hindsight, they already knew better. The twins looked remarkably alike except that Thailog's skin was darker, and his hair was white.
While Goliath preferred to be a humble, thoughtful, and devoted husband and father? Thailog would rather be the center of attention. Someone to be envied and to lord over people. No doubt, he picked this establishment only to show off how much money he had. Or why he showed up with a younger woman, again to flaunt his superiority.
Still, the couple attempted to disregard the other ones. But, of course, it wasn't helping that Thailog continuously talked loud enough, so everyone noticed him. Right now, he was boasting to his supermodel date, Delilah Alexander.
Luckily their meal arrived, and the Davids again tried to resume their evening. They were talking about things that greatly mattered to them. Things were going along quite well. Then, of course, their luck ran out. "Oh, dear brother! I didn't expect you to be here tonight!" called a similar sounding voice. Oh crap! He finally notices them.
Trying to be the bigger person, Goliath looked up. "Hello, dear brother. Been a while. How are you doing?"
"Oh, you know how busy one is controlling a multi-billion dollar commercial enterprise is! All those conferences, functions, and networking. Or seeing how your just a librarian, you wouldn't know, would you?"
"The rich and powerful, Thailog David's brother is a ridiculous librarian? How ho-hum," Delilah snickered.
"I'm in charge of the archives of Xanatos Enterprises," he corrected, to which the white-haired man waved aside.
"How are you even at this establishment? Seeing how this restaurant would cost more money than either of you make in a year? What did you have to do? Have your wife bribe the proprietor with sex?" laughed the sinister twin. Delilah took great satisfaction watching her date's loser of brother's wife turn scarlet. They're both unquestionably losers and nowhere near as relevant as her date.
"Mr. Xanatos owed me a favor, so he's paying for the meal. Now I appreciate it kindly if you left us alone."
"Fine, brother, not like I'll run into you ordinary folks anytime soon again! Come, Delilah, we should get away from this riff-rat anyway." as both jerks gave them one more look of contempt before returning to their table.
"What a perfect pair of assholes!" cursed Elisa, who looked horrified she even cursed.
Commonly instead of saying profanity, her husband and she used "Jalapeno." Their circle of friends used that due to an incident with the spicy food. Moreover, it was nicer to say than allowing their daughters to hear crude language.
They did their most desirable to enjoy the rest of their evening. They did enjoy dancing while a string quartet performed. Finally, they went home to their daughters. Thailog may be able to boast regarding material possessions. However, the Davids would forever be more wealthy with the fact they'd more than enough love to go around!
Kindness is contagious
In a sometimes challenging world, kindness is an act of great courage. So choose to be kind when no one else is looking. But also when everyone is watching.
Your kindness teaches others that everyone deserves respect and consideration. When a person acts with compassion, those around them feel more altruistic.
That's the reason kindness is contagious! Your act of kindness is a beacon of hope that spreads! Always choose kindness!
