A.N.: Hey, look at that! Another story! Who'd have thought? Jokes aside, I recently found a couple interesting Touhou fanfics, and decided to make my own version of the "reincarnated with Touhou abilities" concept. Also, I'm trying out a "thoughts only" first person perspective. If people don't enjoy that, I'll continue with a more classic third person pov.

Summoned as a Video Game Character (Touhou)

~Chapter 1~

"It worked!"

Euh, what just happened? Who's shouting? … I remember… Falling. Yes. I was walking, and suddenly I fell. Let's see where I landed.

Hm, this looks like some kind of basement. And there are the people who are shouting. What's up with those cloaks? A cult? And those people, are they knights? They certainly look that way. Where am I, and how did I get here?

Was I kidnapped by a group of LARPers? And not just me, it seems. But what kind of random group is this? That guy is an office worker, and that one works in construction…

Ah, someone speaks up. Wow, he looks like a genuine movie hero.

"What is the meaning of this?" Movie Hero addresses the people surrounding us.

"Oh, great heroes from another world. Thank you for responding to our call for help. I am afraid the situation is dire, our enemies are gaining ground as we speak. We summoned you here in order to give us a fighting chance against those monsters." Judging from his very ornate clothing, this guy is something of a head priest. And probably the leader of the other cloaked figures. Wait, summoned? Monsters? No way, they're just playing, right?

"Fighting against monsters? And how are we supposed to help with that? I don't think many of us are good at fighting." At least Movie Hero is somewhat sensible.

"Do not worry, great heroes! The magic of the summoning will bring out your latent talents. And otherworldly heroes always have great skills. It will be easy for you!"

… Welp, summoned to another world, I guess. At least it sounds like they have magic… I wonder… Status!

Oh, it worked? Let's see!

Well… I guess I like games, including Touhou, but still. And what about those stats? Are they high, low, average?

I guess I should continue later, there's still a conversation going. Maybe they'll explain something?

"… those abilities?" Looks like Movie Hero asked about abilities. Good questions, so far.

"If you all would follow me, we have a special device that will be able to show you all your abilities." Head Priest answers, but eh? Why would we need a device when we can just think Status? Or is it something unique because I am a video game character? It is a very game-like status screen…

I'll follow them for now.

Wow, this certainly looks like a castle. A big castle built by some big guy.

Are we there yet? Nope, more ornate corridors. I wonder if all of the corridors are this decorated, or only the ones they show us. Well, it's a good attempt at intimidation. Office Guy is looking rather humble.

Still, not that much to see. Hm, let's see if I can figure out how that skill works. Touhou Project Transformation!

… Oh.

Wait. Why do I suddenly "just understand" it? This place is confusing. Eh, anyway, apparently I can use MP to transform into one of the characters. I gain all their skills, stats, and abilities. Transformations last 1 hour, then I either transform back, or need to spend more of my own MP. And I can't regenerate my own MP while transformed.

That's probably a balance thing, together with the fact that different characters have different prices. 100 000 MP for Yukari? That's not gonna happen anytime soon, I guess. Wait, does my MP increase with level up? Or do I need to do something else? More questions for later. I should make a list of them.

Ah, there's Koishi. Looks like she is "only" 50 MP. Might be useful if I want to get out of here unseen. But first, it seems we have arrived at the… uh… Ability Viewer? … It's probably that big see-through white orb.

"Great heroes, this is the Status Indicator. Place your hand on it, and it will reveal your status!"

Head Priest just confirmed it. But damn, did an engineer name it or something? … Do they even have engineers?

"Alright, let's see if we are as heroic as you claim!"

Of course, Movie Star is going first. I'm sooo surprised by that. Eh, should be interesting regardless.

Oof, rough, Construction Man pushes Office Man forward. Poor guy, he looks like he needs sleep more than anything.

Head Priest again with his praise. Maybe he knows more about that title? It's worth a shot…

"Uhm, Mister Head Priest? What is that title?"

Don't think about the people, don't think about their views. Just go with the flow, pretend I'm just a normal human who…

"That title marks you as a summoned hero. Every summoned hero receives it!"

"Right. Thanks." We all receive it? Liar. Or not? I don't know if they have it before they touch that ball… Uh? Would they? They… did… kidnap… us? Why would they not enslave us too?

Satori could read their minds, but that would expose me pretty badly. Yeah, I guess I'll go back to my original plan. Disappearing quietly, and no one will find out!
