Summary: "I think you're mighty pretty, Miss Hinata. And I'd..." Sasuke took a minute with his cattleman hat held close to his chest, emotions swelling. "Why I'd like to show you around before ya head off? If that's okay with you." Karin then batted her eyes bashfully, grapes crushed all in her hair to mimic the girl. "You want little ole me? Oh I just don't know what to say!" Her boyfriend rolled his eyes, facepalming. "Once again, Hinata doesn't even talk like that!" Back to square one it is. One hour left.
Plot: Sasuke doesn't too much like them city folk, but Hinata… now she's different. She's special. That's the kind of woman you carry and bring home to momma unannounced. The one to told hold down the fort while you're out working the fields. She is perfect in his eyes... but she doesn't see him yet. Will she ever?

-Field Trip-
"The wheels on the bus go round and round. Round and round. Round and round!" Naruto patted the beat to the song on his lap, sitting there at sixteen years old. He did this many times to annoy the teen beside him that took his spot by the window. "The wheels on the bus go round and round. All." He abbreviated each one in dog breath's ear, "Day. Long!"
"Fuck you, man!" Kiba screamed with his fingers dug in his bronze, short cut.
"Inuzuka." Iruka found himself shouting at these two for hours now. "Language! Naruto, leave him alone, please!"
The blond grumbled and slumped back with an arm up on the seat. "Make him switch with me then, sensei."
"For the last time, no! This is your fault for getting on the bus late so deal with it or I'll make you." His head almost turned around on its axis. He was going to kill Kakashi for tricking him into doing this field trip for him. He was at fault too since he's a teacher as well for god's sake. He should always read before signing anything, especially such things coming from the one guy who was sly with everything even in his techniques.
Naruto wished he'd learn one so he could trick his friend to switch places. The long drive was weighing on him and he didn't want to drop on the floor like some of the other kids already had.
The sophomores were dying of boredom on this trip into the country. It seemed nice enough to get out of class but there was absolutely no reception out here. Phones were useless unless you had the internet which was only good till your cell died.
Hyuga Hinata found it all a good thing though. Now everyone could focus on the beauty of nature's vast open plains that paintings were made for. None of her classmates seemed to share her enthusiasm or passion though and she'd not push it. She sat across from her goofy crush that was more entertaining to everyone. At the tilt of her head down, she fumbled to push her flower dress over her knees. Her brown tassel boots clicked at the heel when she looked to him and succumbed to warmth at her face.
He was talking to someone behind him with pink hair. A girl she stood no chance against now-a-days because… Sakura Haruno had won the blond's heart. The promise ring on her finger showed that.
"Stop being so damn loud, idiot. There are people trying to sleep." Sakura smiled at him, sporting a pink crop top and jeans, legs crossed until he reached back and grabbed at her thigh. A flutter of love clouds surged in her stomach. She always felt light and adored when he played with her like this. "Naruto!" She blushed like crazy, brow twitching while attempting to pull him off. "Let go!"
"Ahh, fine but only for now." He grinned at her precious emeralds before giving up, slumping back in his seat. "I wish I could just lay back there with you instead of being saddled with this loser… but then I'd have to deal with Ino."
Of course the female student mentioned was next to his girlfriend. She was sleeping though… and yet she still managed to hit him in the back of the head unconsciously. He winced and chuckled at the attack that got his pink beauty to laugh. He let it be for that reason to hear her sound that was soon drowned out because he was not done being scolded.
"I'm the loser?! You cost us the game yesterday to give her a stupid ring." Kiba barked at the blond, gripping the shoulder of Naruto's orange and black varsity jacket. He was handled back in the same fashion. "We could have won!" They did have that baseball game in the bag.
"It was just one game, you butt sniffer!"
"I have neve- Okay, I only did that once and it was because you dared me!" He wished he could just punch his stupid best friend in the face just once.
"That's funny. I don't remember that." Naruto lied just to increase all the looks around on them. Soon enough they really had something to look at when they started to play-fight in that seat. It looked to end when he got his catcher in a headlock.
"U-Um… guys." Hinata tried to warn them of this but it was too late and she was too soft spoken.
Iruka was already standing outside of their booth seat, threateningly cracking his knuckles.
The discount bus driver casually moved the camera off the scene. He was tired of the shouting too.
Someone did film it though and that was the trouble-making two in the back behind Hinata. They talked in hush-hush whispers, dressed in homemade punk-rock themes with drawn-on tattoos. "I say this will get us out of detention for a week."
"Screw that! We should shoot for a month." Karin snickered, choker made out of a cut up belt buckle and b-dazzle stickers because the orphanage said no. So, her boyfriend got creative for her. "Oooh, get him to let us draw butts on the board every morning!"
"That's pushing it and you know it!" Sui sighed at her sudden frown, heart stolen at a young age too. "Fine! We'll ask to draw him in drag only!"
"That's perfect!"
"You guys need to stop." Hinata giggled back to them, leaning out of her seat some. She then smiled at the duo who bothered her none at all because she was too open to their weird style unlike other people. She was the one that provided him the stickers. "He'll get you t-two next."
"Not if we're super sneaky, Hina-chan!" Karin whispered with a fix of her glasses. "Who do you think flooded the teacher lounge with nutella before we left?"
Suigetsu looked just as confused as their quiet friend. "We didn't do that."
"Not we." Her steadily growing diabolical laughter for committing a 'sweet crime', got her partner to gawk at her in wonder.
"Oh K-Karin…" Hinata shook her head, turning back in her seat. Inside she swooned at the scene though and those around her. Everyone had someone to joke with or scheme beside. Here she was alone. Her crush was taken so that love waned everyday, especially now after their teacher was done pumbling the boys that developed nice knots on their heads.
Sakura had come over to kiss her dazed boyfriend on the cheek, bringing him back to life. He responded by pulling her over the seat and hugging her tightly with pecks on her burning face. Of course this resulted in her pushing Kiba up against the window with her sandal to his head
"Agh! Guys, seriously? Personal space!" His suffering never looked to end.
Hinata eased up from her seat at that moment, pretty sure another argument was about to happen. To help them out despite her little jelly heart, she'll distract Iruka. She took her bag along with her and kept her balance on the rickety bus, heading towards the front. There she handed her tired teacher some earmuffs.
"Aww, thank you, Hinata!" The poor man was just about out of it.
"Y-You're welcome." She smiled and bowed before giving a set to the driver. "Would y-you like one too?"
"I'm driving, darling, but I'll take it for later." Asuma tilted his hat to the girl and accepted the gift. He was the quote on quote driver since… he'd gotten caught smoking. He shouldn't have tried it on school premises. He sighed and put the earmuffs to the side for later though when he could park and block out the noise. Those kids were surely going to get louder when they reached the tomato farm. While he liked the countryside, not many people had the patience.
Hinata did because of her quiet life at home that never seemed to change. She headed back to her spot with the goal in mind to take the new sights in while she could. On the way she handed out earmuffs to those who needed it. Though she was quiet, she was not without a loving personality for others. She therefore didn't notice when people were looking at her... like really looking and admiring how she seemed to glide through the bus. She did stop when she felt this weird presence.
"Hey, look! It's a horse!" Rock Lee shouted in excitement from under his green hoodie, tearing up at the majestic creature who had a… a hand coming over it's back? It was like someone was holding onto it. "Does anyone see that?"
"See what?" Another student groaned, lazily slumping his face to the window to see the never ending wheat fields that the horse slowly disappeared into. "I can't really see shit."
"Shikamaru!" Iruka was just about to put those earmuffs on. Something would always stop him because this was his curse.
Hinata shook her head in pity while getting to her seat where Shino was tucked in his turtleneck, fast asleep already. She put earmuffs on him to be safe, very crafty like, and then rested back. The lovely girl was sad she missed the horse but hopefully it would come back. Till then, she still had the gorgeous scenery under clear skies.
-The Farm : Minutes Prior-
"Boys, I want ya to look me in the eyes." Uchiha Fugaku ran one of the mini farms that were actually a part of one big family operation. Their relatives were spread all over the place, making up a good portion in the middle of the south. The little area they had strictly as their property was called, Shari Farms. A nifty little place with a few hens, horses, cows, and goats. They grew tomatoes. This was their specialty. "Itachi. Sasuke. I'm serious. Those yungins' are coming to visit us from that school down in the city. When they get here, I can't afford for you both to go showing off the wrong side of the horse. This is good and easy money for us."
The farmer's sons shared a look of dullness to each other because neither of them were too keen on letting outsiders roam their premises.
Itachi especially didn't like them. They had disgusting habits, talked funny, and looked different like they didn't work. For instance, he had his damp, black bandanna going across his head to help keep the sweat out of his eyes. The hay stack on his shoulder did that to him. He was going to put it away for later use till his dad stopped him to tell him the bad news. He knew he couldn't complain though so he went on and said, "Okay, pa."
"That's what I like to hear. Now what of you, Sasuke?"
This was the man's baby boy of the ripe age of sixteen who was just as hormonal as any teen was but crass with it. He wore a red plaid shirt over a dirty white top that he had no plans of changing out of. His jeans had seen better days too like his boots. He chewed on the end of a fine wheat stalk, enjoying that farmer's gum, pure wheat gluten. It was healthy but a little disrespectful to do while your father is talking to you. And he just continued to do that, looking about as bored as his old gramps Madara was crazy.
"Sasuke." Papa wasn't going to call his name again. He displayed this by crossing his arms against that vest and raising his brows. "Are you testin' me, boy?"
"No, sir." He thought about it but a switch around here was used to scar bottoms. That branch hurt like the dickens, worse than a belt any day.
"Then say it."
Sasuke held his tongue and then let it go, wheat bobbing as his country accent rang out thick like his dad, "I will behave."
"Thank you." Fugaku moved to pet his youngest but the boy walked on off from him. He sighed heavily at the connection he just couldn't string together with that boy. He put his hands on his hips and asked, "Itachi, why does your brother give me a hard time like I'm the serpent himself?"
Itachi shrugged, walking on off to feed the horses. "He don't like them city folk, pa." He wasn't telling a fib. 'And neither do I.'
"But that was seasons ago." He exhaled again and looked to the horizon over yonder, wondering how he missed teaching his kids to turn the other cheek.
-Going For A Ride-
It was easier for his father to forgive the incident since no real harm occurred.
However, because he wasn't the one who suffered the cruel prank, his conclusion meant nothing to the poor boy it happened to.
'We don't need their kind around here.' Sasuke had gone straight to the crimson stables with his biased thoughts. 'No good fer anyone.' He greeted his auburn horse with a rub along its muzzle, accepting that noggin touch back. 'You agree with me, don't ya boy?'
Aoda wasn't too sure what was going on, but he knew when his young master got this quiet, he was about to take him out for a ride. That alone, he couldn't wait for. His human didn't put rope or saddles on him because he was as stubborn as he was. He shook his silky black mane when the boy rounded around to get on. Today they'd ride for how long the plains ran and cut through Obito's wheat fields again just to bother him.
Sasuke tossed his stalk before preparing to get on. He used a crate to gain more height and then he hosted himself up and over. There he fixed his red bandanna around his neck to not go flying. "We'll ride north." He guided his buck out of the stable, seeing the steed's head bob in excitement for he knew where that meant.
They sadly had to stop suddenly at the return of his brother.
He was hay-less at least.
Itachi put two and two together that quick that his kin was going out for a ride and likely wouldn't be back unless told too. "Ya got till super."
'Will do.' The younger raven nodded and started to kick but his brother put his hand up, forcing Aoda to yield again. 'Seriously?'
"One last thang." He chuckled at the young one's grunt and eye rolls. "Uncle Obi's fields are not the road. At least take the paths set."
Sasuke puffed at a bang dramatically but gave in. "I hear ya."
"Good, now get on before those demons show up."
The smaller raven smirked and bobbed his head once, glad they were still in agreement. He then took off with a light kick at first, waving back to his brother who found happiness just working around the farm. He personally liked to explore and had almost discovered every nook and cranny around this place. He's annoyed every relative of his at least once as a result. He especially loved bothering Obito who was his bi-polar uncle. When he talked in third person, he was Tobi. His normal self was Obi and he said that Tobi was actually his brother on the other side and… They just treated them both like family to keep it simple. 'Both' of them manned the wheat farm.
His loving grandparents owned an apple farm.
Old man Madara, had a vineyard to keep up. He brewed some of the finest liquor to ever grace the palate.
Of course Sasuke was too young to partake but he'd like to imagine that one day he'll sit down and listen to his uncle's war stories over a bottle. That way he'd be drunk enough to keep up.
Till that glorious day, he liked to cut into uncle Obi's yard and run through the wheat field. This time he had to go along the path though and still as fast as he could to feel the breeze cutting through his hair and cooling his body.
His kin's crops went on for miles by the road.
There was so much that come harvest season they had to hire more help even after the family had come together.
It was a marvel of teamwork.
Those people on the coming school bus knew nothing about that or so he believed. They rode in metal contraptions instead of taking a horse to enjoy nature like he did.
There will never be nothing like a ride with a trusty steed and pushing the limit.
Sucks for them they'll never experience this.
He got his horse to follow along the path that stayed aligned to the road just to get a better look at these unfortunate kids coming to his home. Most of them seemed to be asleep which astounded him. This place had an amazing view, hard to pass on and yet these untrustworthy, savage, heartless, ungodly beautiful- Wait, what?
Sasuke had to double take at the wonder-girl standing up out of nowhere that lassoed his heart right out of his chest. 'Saints alive...' He straightened his back to look over the fields more clearly to see an actual honest to god angel on this bus. Could they see her too? Was it just him? Had he fallen and hit his head like his brother always said he would? He had to have because no one was telling her to sit down or anything so she must not be real. She was gliding just like she was impervious to the bounce of the steel transport. Her hair was long and wild like a spree of fall leaves stuck on a gust of wind. Every single strand of her beautiful plum kissed locks were just shining behind her. The only other things that moved on her were the faint ruffles on her dress sleeves all thanks to the open windows. Everything else was fitted to her because...
She had a woman's body.
Was she a teacher? He drew a quick cross on his chest if she was. But she can't be. She looked too young. He stretched to see her finally address someone and confirm he wasn't crazy. After she handed the driver something next, she turned around and blew his mind away at the sight of her eyes.
No one has clear irises around here.
That's impossible! Is she blind? Hardly since she can clearly see where's going and all.
Sasuke unconsciously leaned back off of Aoda's neck the further she moved in that opposite direction, entrapped by this high school lassy. 'Who in sam hill made her?' Bless his heart. He had a serious need to know what she was and how did she summon the night stars above when she smiled.
It's still day.
That's downright unnatural.
He needed a closer surveillance but one of those teens that were not sleeping, had just now started to look out. He swung off to the side to avoid being caught, hanging there for dear life. "Aoda, back to the farm!"
But we just got started? The horse puffed out his nostrils and pushed on since his young master was being odd. The shortest cut back was through the fields so he had to break the rule… And he loved it. This wasn't going to feel good for Sasuke but he'll be alright.
The stings were worth it to stay out of her sight till he got cleaned up.
He bet his momma was going to bring out her bible when he'd tell her that.
-Preparing-
"Miko, put your bible down and stop splashing that boy with that faucet water." Fugaku shook his head at the woman trying to cast the demons out of their youngest. He figured cleaning the kitchen would be a better time management so he took care of that. "It's not a sin to want to bathe."
"It is for him!" The boy's mother, who they favored, was not having it in her house. She did set the bible on the doily over the nearby dresser just to pull out her cross necklace. She then opened the cap and started flinging the contents on the surprised young man. "You telling me after years of walking around here smelling like the funk master, he wants to give up now? The devil is a- Be gone from my baby boy! Back you spawn!"
Sasuke chuckled, face wet and bangs dripping. He still accepted that kiss on his cheek after she ran out of cleansing water.
"Darn it! Hold on, I'm going to head to your grandparents house for more. Be right back! Don't move." She warned, eyeing him the whole time she left the house. After she rushed down the porch, she made a break for it to get her child some help.
"Best you go get cleaned up while she's gone before she ends up bathing you herself." His father loved that crazy woman. He smiled while cleaning her favorite plate with ravens flying around in the center. "Yer brother's out making sure the animals are caged. You go help him once done."
"Yes sir, pa." Sasuke nodded to his dad's back, heading off up stairs next but taking his time. He'd thought about helping his brother out since that showed him doing something instead of running around. The drawback was working up a sweat again. Would she be impressed by that? She might not. He didn't know. He was excited to get to know her even if she was a… a… city gal. His bad experience crept on him and reminded him of the last time he trusted someone not from here.
He should be cautious this go around.
She didn't look to be a mean soul though...
He'll still clean up just in case for himself to calm his mother down.
'That gal probably won't smell any better.' He contradicted himself, sure she didn't reek of city air and instead had the scent of the blooming point of spring itself. Mmm, Mmm! His hormones got the better of him so he had to shake his head to remind himself she was the enemy. He wasn't even into girls like that. He was just- Well he'd never given one the time of day before and… There's just something special about her and he knows it!
Sasuke chuckled, concluding that much that something was getting him worked up. 'I'm probably buzzing over nothing.' When she gets here, she won't notice him anyway. He was sure of it. He should just forget about that beautiful work of nature and go on about his day before he got his heart just a aching something bad.
His eyes then slowly started to doom him by looking at his cattleman hat...
-Getting Ready-
Itachi hadn't had his bath yet since his father had called him over to put up the animals. He'd just gotten done doing that... by himself. And some of those animals were more stubborn than others let him tell you. He was worn out like a fish out of water. Panting and giving it his all when he could. Of course he had to take off his shirt which was not uncommon out here in the south to see some skin.
It's hot.
You work hard around here, not stupid.
He thus had his sweated out shirt around his neck by the time his brother came over. "Yer lat- What in tarnation are you wearing?" Itachi solely meant his brother's hat because his clothes were a little less odd. His kin had on his good black jeans and a sensible white tank-top because of well, dirt. They work around the earth so dyed wares would just get ruined.
"Clothes?" Sasuke remarked sarcastically, heading down to the front gate. "Are the animals up?
"Yeah, no thanks to you." He was not going to let this go even if there were better things to complain about. He caught up with his little brother and observed his cleanliness more closely. "Huh… You bathed before me?" He questioned aloud, shocked a little. "That means momma either beat you or yer up to sometin'." Itachi crossed his arms like his father. "Spill."
Because Sasuke knew how this worked, he had to unlock the wooden gate and also explain himself. He hesitated at first, giving in only because of that deep stare into his soul from the oldest. "I… um, I caught sight of this woman a while ago."
"Eh?" His little bro shouldn't be worrying about that till he was about fifty or so. "Where?"
"On that bus pulling up now."
Itachi panicked, jumping on the fence to see Sasuke was not trying to divert his attention like usual. "Already?! Curses." He still needed to change. "I'll be right back."
"Go ahead." He didn't mind at all. "Ya need to change anyway."
"... Someone clearly ain't seeing themselves then." Big brother got the youngest to feel a bit self-conscious by those words. He did look like a duck with a screw loose on what his species was because he fell for someone outside his kind. He shouldn't be thinking like that to begin with, but judging by how Sasuke was trying to fix that dumb hat, it was only going to get worse. He had to jump down and just leave, shaking his head in disappointment. One pretty face and his brother just forgets what side they're on.
But she was more than her insane beauty that was solely in his eyes, and Sasuke could feel it. He at least prayed so. He turned around to the arriving bus and took his brother's spot on the fence. The gate stood wide open and the many faces that passed were sleeping ones until he saw her bright and curious pools of pale lavender looking around. She seemed eager to see everything so perhaps she'd be interested in that flutter she was giving this ticker in his chest. Her fleeting wave was enough for him to tilt his hat to her and hide that stupidly faint blush of his. 'What are ya doing?! Wave back, ya moron!' That's how her people did it after all so he tried to redeem himself but it was too late. She was already looking elsewhere. The two teens in the back behind her did make stupid faces at him though that led him to chuckle. 'Now that's odd.' He gave them a wave back, havin' a feeling they were alright too.
There was only one way to know for sure.
The bus stopped by the barn some ways down, letting off all it's passengers in need to stretch.
A/N: So… the South and SasuHina. It's the funniest thing when I try to imagine it. I hope it sets well with y'all too.
