Summary: Having turned 2 recently, Dil goes through the potty training stage, but with plenty of accidents while trying, can the Rugrats give him the support he needs to conquer this? Read and Find out!
Note: this story takes place a few months prior to Celrock's story "Zoey's Birthday Cruise".
It was a beautiful sunny morning in Yucaipa, California at the Pickles residence as Tommy and Dil were waking up.
"Morning Bro" said Dil.
"Morning Dilly" replied Tommy.
Tommy then headed for the bathroom as Didi entered the bedroom.
"Morning sweetie" said Didi as she picked Dil up and took him to the changing table and got him into a fresh diaper.
Afterwards Didi got breakfast ready for the boys.
"Hey Bro" asked Dil. "Since I turned two recently will I be potty trained likes our friends" he asked.
"Yep" replied Tommy. "When you're growing up, this means you won't be able to wear diapers no more like our friends" he said.
"Aw, I wishes we could stay in diapers forever" said Dil.
"It won't be so bad once you're potty trained" said Tommy.
"I hopes you're right Bro" replied Dil.
Tommy nodded in agreement. After the boys finished breakfast and Didi put them in the playpen to play, the doorbell rang, it was Chaz and Kira with Chuckie, Kimi, Jesse, Savannah and Zack with them. They brought the kids to the playpen with Tommy and Dil and went to have a chat with Didi.
"Hey guys" said Tommy and Dil in unison.
"Hey" replied the others in unison.
"Hey Dil" asked Zack. "Is your mommy gonna start to potty train you since you're two years old now" he asked.
"Yeah" replied Dil.
"Well it's like Angelica once said when she was still the bad one 'everybody who's anybody is potty trained' said Chuckie.
"I wonder why this doesn't surprise me" Zack thought to himself.
"Don't worry Dil" assured Savannah. "You'll get the hang of it once you're potty trained like everyone else" she said.
"You might have accidents at first, but after awhile you'll conquer it" said Jesse.
"Uh-huh, it just takes practice" replied Kimi.
"I know how Chuckie felt when he was potty trained when I myself was at that's stage" said Tommy.
As the babies were talking, the doorbell rang and Didi answered it, it was Betty with Phil and Lil. She put them in the playpen with the others and joined the other grownups with their conversation.
"Hey guys" said Phil and Lil in unison.
"Hey" replied the others in unison.
"We hears Dil is gonna gets potty trained" said Phil.
"Yeah and when he does he'll be the lastest one in the bunch to not wear diapers no mores" added Lil.
"Yeah I was tolded" replied Dil. "Though diapers are much better since you can just go potty in the middle of the night time in your diaper instead of racing to the potty" he said.
"I'm certain it will be tough to switch from diapers, but in due time you'll get the hang of it" said Zack.
The others nodded in agreement with him. Meanwhile, the grown ups were in the kitchen talking.
"So when will Dil start potty training" asked Chaz.
"He'll begin tomorrow" replied Didi.
"The pups could stick around to give Dil plenty of support" suggested Betty.
"That's a splendid idea" replied Betty.
Didi then went to the living room where the babies were and spoke to Dil.
"Dilly mommy is going to start to potty train you tomorrow and your friends will get to stay a few nights here with you for moral support" Didi said to Dil.
Dil nodded his head and turned to his friends.
"Well guys today will be my last day in diapers" said Dil.
"Let's make your last day in diapers a good one to remember" said Tommy.
"Yeah" replied the others.
Tommy then got his screwdriver out of his overalls pocket and unlatched the playpen lock and the kids headed out to the backyard to play and have an adventure for the rest of the day. The following day Dil awoke and thought about what his friends said yesterday about not wearing diapers anymore just as Didi entered the room.
"Good Morning sweetie" said Didi. "Today is the day you're going to stop wearing diapers and be potty trained" she added.
Didi then changed his diaper one last time and got Dil changed into some different clothes while the others that spent the first night at the Pickles residence got up, used the bathroom and headed downstairs for breakfast. Eventually Dil joined the others in the playpen after breakfast was completed.
"Wow" exclaimed the others in unison.
"Did your mommy change your clothes Dil" asked Savannah.
Dil nodded yes. And then he had a strange feeling as he hugged his knees and started to cry which got Didi's attention.
"Sounds like somebody's ready to use the potty for the first time" said Didi as she came into the living room.
Then Didi carried Dil to the bathroom where the clown potty was and gently set Dil down and moved his shorts off.
"I'll be back in a few moments sweetie" said Didi. "You can do this" she added.
Dil was nervous but he nodded gently as Didi left the bathroom. Soon after the other Rugrats came up stairs to see if Dil was alright.
"Hey Dilly" said Tommy.
"We came up to see if you're okay" added Zack.
"I'm rather nervous" replied Dil. "Now I know how you guys must have felt when you first got potty trained and it's an unpleasant feeling" he added.
"Remember nobody does perfect on the first try" assured Chuckie.
"Uh-huh, you're not alone" added Kimi.
"Yeah, some of us can pull it off sooner like me" said Lil before turning to her brother. "While others might take a little while longer" she added.
"Ha-ha, very funny Lillian" replied Phil.
"We'll stick by you until you can do this" added Savannah.
"Yeah, that's what friends are for" replied Jesse.
"Thanks loads for the nicest stuff you've all said to me" said Dil. "Buts it still doesn't gets rid of this feeling when you have to go potty" he added.
Dil then got up off the potty, believing he didn't have to go. Unfortunately, however he got up at the wrong moment and went to the bathroom on the floor. Then Didi returned.
"Oh dear" she Didi. "Alright sweetie let's get you and everyone outside while I get this mess cleaned up" she added.
While Didi was cleaning up the mess, the Rugrats were all outside talking.
"I guess now you knows what it feels likes to go potty" said Phil.
"It can be hard to tell when you really gotta go potty" added Lil.
"Yeah, I'm not liking this at all" replied Dil.
As the day went on the Rugrats was having fun doing their usual fun activities in the backyard. Phil and Lil were making mud pies, Tommy, Chuckie and Jesse were playing with the Reptar Wagon, Kimi and Zack were pretending to be super heroes based off their favorite toys and Dil and Savannah were making a sand sculpture of Goober the Gopher.
"Are you feeling okay Dil" asked Savannah.
"I'm feeling likes I needs to go potty again" replied Dil as he was hugging his knees again.
"You better get up and go then" said Savannah.
"I don't think I'm gonna make it in time" replied Dil.
"Why not go in the bushes" shouted Phil.
"Not very helpful" Zack thought to himself.
"Or me and Tommy could run in and get your mom" suggested Chuckie.
"Okay you guys, can you do that because I really, really have to go" replied Dil.
"Don't worries Dilly, we'll be right backs" said Tommy.
Tommy and Chuckie quickly made a beeline to Didi who was in the kitchen preparing lunch for the kids when they pulled on her dress and got her attention.
"Hello boys" said Didi. "What the matter" she asked.
"Dil has to go potty" said Chuckie.
Tommy nodded in response.
"Okay thank you both for coming to tell me that" replied Didi.
Didi, Chuckie and Tommy then ran to the backyard and saw that Dil desperately needed to go as he was hopping up and down.
"Don't worry sweetie" said Didi. "We're getting you too the potty right now" she added.
Didi then took Dil to the bathroom and got him seated on the clown potty again.
"I'll be back in a few minutes sweetie" said Didi.
Dil nodded as Didi headed out of the bathroom. Dil sat there for a pretty good while.
"Hmmm, maybe I don't gots to go after all" said Dil as he stood up.
At that moment Dil felt that familiar feeling as he accidently went to the bathroom on the floor again.
"Oh-no, not again" said Dil.
Just then Didi returned.
"Don't worry sweetie, It always takes practice to be good at something" assured Didi.
Dil nodded as Didi took Dil back outside with the others while she cleaned up the mess.
"Hey guys" said Dil glumly.
"Hey" replied the others in unison.
"Did you go Dil" asked Savannah.
"Yeah, on the floor again" replied Dil as he cheeks turned red with embarrassment.
"Don't get discouraged" said Zack.
"Yeah, you'll get the hang of this eventually" added Savannah.
The next morning Tommy and Dil arose. Chuckie, Kimi and Savannah who spent the previous night at the Pickles residence were waking up also. As everyone got up Dil felt that the bed was wet and so did the others.
"Uh-oh, the bed is all wet" said Tommy.
"I guess one of us forgot to go potty" added Savannah.
"Uh-huh, I'm sure it's was an accident" replied Kimi.
"Yep" added Chuckie.
Dil then realized that it was he who wet the bed since he could easily hear the others get up during different times at night to go to the bathroom.
"I'm certain that it was me you guys, because I could hear you get up and go potty in the nighttime" said Dil with his head in shame.
"Don't worry about it, everybody wets the bed every once in a while, but once you're potty trained it will happen less often" assured Savannah.
Eventually Didi saw that the bed sheets were wet and changed them. Then she got breakfast ready for the kids and afterwards she took them all to the park to meet up with the others to get some air and have fun. When they got to the park Angelica, Susie , Zoey and the other Rugrats were already there playing in the sandbox, the teeter totter, the jungle gym and the swings.
"Hey guys" said Tommy.
"Hey" replied the others in unison.
Zoey then noticed a glum look on Dil's face.
"Hey Dilly, what's the matter" asked Zoey.
"Oh Dilly's going through the potty training stage" replied Tommy.
"Hmmm, by the look on his face, I guess it's not going too great is it" asked Angelica.
"No it isn't" replied Dil glumly. "You're not gonna pick on me because I haven't conquered this yet are you" asked Dil.
"Of course not Dilly" replied Angelica. "And I don't think I've admitted this to anyone yet but when my mommy still lived here she would always turn off and on the water faucet to get me to go potty when I really needed to" she said.
"Really" asked Dil.
Angelica nodded.
"I wouldn't give up yet Dilly" said Susie. "Everybody that gets potty trained doesn't always get it in early days" she said.
"Sure it's tough to give up diapers, but once you get the hang of it you'll find it's not so tough to get to the potty" added Zoey.
"It's like I once said when I was still the bad one everybody who's anybody is potty trained" said Angelica.
"Thanks" said Dil feeling slightly better.
Just then Dil felt that familiar feeling as he hugged his knees.
"Uh-oh, I really need to go potty now" said Dil.
"Relax, Me and the girls will go and get Aunt Didi" said Angelica.
"Thanks, but hurry I can't hold it much longer" said Dil.
Angelica, Susie, and Zoey quickly made a beeline towards Didi.
"Mrs. Pickles" said Zoey. "Dilly needs to go to the bathroom" she said.
"Thank you for telling me that" replied Didi.
Dil was hugging his knees harder than ever and couldn't hold it much longer and went to the bathroom right in the grass.
"Uh-oh" replied Phil and Lil in unison.
"Not again" said Dil as his cheeks turned red with embarrassment. And at that moment the girls returned with Didi and saw that they were too late.
"Oh dear" said Zoey.
"That's not good" replied Angelica.
"Accidents will happen" added Susie.
"C'mon Dilly, lets get you into a nice change of clothes" said Didi as she took him to the bathroom to get changed and cleaned up.
Soon Dil was in a fresh change of clothes and joined with the other kids.
"Don't let this bring you down" said Zack.
"Yeah, you'll beat this sooner or later" added Jesse.
"I'll never be able to use the potty likes you guys" said Dil sadly.
"Sure you will" said Chuckie. When you weren't borndid yets, It tooked me quite some time before I conquered my fear of using the potty instead of diapers" he added.
"Uh-huh, I wasn't too hot either when I was getting potty trained too" said Kimi.
"I only hope you guys are rights" said Dil.
At that unfortunate moment however, the Mcnulty boys overheard the conversation about Dil's potty training.
"Ha-ha-ha-ha, laughed the Mcnulty boys in unison.
The Rugrats, Angelica, Susie and Zoey turned around and saw the boys.
"Timmy Mcnulty" exclaimed Tommy and Angelica in unison.
"Awww, is the strawberry headed kid too chicken to go on without diapers" taunted Timmy.
Tears started forming in Dil's eyes and was on the verge of crying as the big girls spoke up.
"Hey" snapped Susie. "Back off" she said.
"Yeah, you wouldn't want to enrage the strawberry headed boys cousin would you" said Angelica angrily.
"Besides, we're sure you boys went through the same experience when you were potty trained too" added Zoey.
"Humph, fine we'll leave him alone" grumbled Timmy. "C'mon guys let's get outta here" he added.
Then the Mcnulty Boys left.
"Thank you girls for standing up for me" said Dil feeling slightly better.
"No problem, that's what friends are for" said Angelica.
Susie and Zoey nodded in agreement. Meanwhile, Didi was talking to Lou about Dil's potty training.
"Ya know deed, might I suggest putting the sprout back in diapers or at least have training pants until he can master it" suggested Lou.
"Thanks for the advice Pop, but Dilly must learn to use the potty at his age" said Didi.
"Anything you say" replied Lou.
Later on at the Pickles residence the kids had all finished lunch and were happily playing in the backyard.
"Hey girls" said Angelica. "Up for some competition on jumping rope continuously" she asked.
"You're on" said Susie and Zoey in unison.
"Hey Kimiko" said Zack. "How about a little race around the yard" he asked.
"If you're up for it, I'm up for it" said Kimi as they began their race.
"Hey Lillian, wanna see who gots the biggest boogers" asked Phil.
"You're on Phillip" replied Lil as they stuck their fingers in ther noses.
"Hey guys" said Tommy. "Let's play with my Super Duper Reptar Ball" he said.
"Okay" replied Chuckie and Jesse in unison as they threw the ball towards one another.
"Hey Dil" said Savannah. "Wanna play in the sandbox" she asked.
"Sure" replied Dil.
As Dil was playing with Savannah he saw his mom was watering the plants with the garden hose.
"Hey Dil look" said Savannah.
"What is it" asked Dil.
"Looks like a stream of water coming from your mommy's garden hose" said Savannah.
At that moment Dil felt like he needed to go potty, but snapped out of the thought when Didi finished watering the plants and turned off the hose.
"Few" sighed Dil in relief. "I don't gots to go potty now" he said as he continued playing.
Later in the day as most of the kids went home, Savannah wanted to stay with Dil for another night. Eventually, it was bedtime and Tommy was already fast asleep.
"Savannah" whispered Dil.
"Yeah Dil" whispered Savannah.
"What if I accidently wet the bed again" asked Dil.
"Don't worry, if you wakes up just go right to the potty and go, and don't wait up" replied Savannah.
"Okay Savannah" said Dil and went to sleep.
Soon Dil was having a nightmare as he was surrounded with the Mcnulty boys in a lit room.
"Where am I" asked Dil.
"You're in a place where kids never became potty trained" said Timmy.
"Yeah" replied Todd and Ty in unison.
"You'll always be a big cry baby who wets himself everytime he has to go potty" taunted Terry.
"You'll never be grown up enough to go to the big boy potty" added Teddy.
The Mcnulty boys busted into laughter as Dil started to cry.
Then Dil woke up suddenly breathing heavily and sweating.
"Few" said Dil. "I really gots to go now" he said as he hopped out of bed.
Dil made a beeline to the bathroom where the clown potty was. Dil then got himself seated and went to the bathroom as he sighed in relief. Stu then heard a noise, unsure of what it was he was hearing he walked down the hallway and found Dil using the potty.
"Deed look" exclaimed Stu.
"What is it" asked Didi.
"Dil got out of bed on his own and used the potty" said Stu.
"Great job sweetie" said Didi as she patted Dil on his head.
Tommy and Savannah came to see what was happening and took a peek into the bathroom as Stu and Didi returned to bed.
"Well guys, it's like Angelica said, everybody who's anybody is potty trained, and you're an anybody likes the rest of us" said Tommy.
"Yeah" agreed Savannah.
"Yes I am" replied Dil.
"We knew you could pull it off" added Tommy.
Everyone nodded in agreement and headed back to bed and slept peacefully for the rest of the night.
