Summary: Iris is trying to work on her Masters thesis. Lisa is just trying to get Iris' attention.

The pillow to the face was totally (not) an accident.

Very Epic (Pillow) Fights

Iris is so close to having her Masters in psychology, she can almost taste it. Metaphorically. She's mostly certain she doesn't want to actually eat her degree, but the lack of sleep is starting to get to her a little so she couldn't guarantee that one-hundred percent.

Just settling on a thesis had been a pain. Her first topic was, thankfully, accepted immediately - which was good since Iris hadn't been thrilled with any of her back up ideas - but she had to revise the proposal three times before the committee review determined she was ready for the preliminary orals. Once preliminary orals were out of the way, she'd been able to proceed with her project and collect the data she'd need to write both her final oral review and her thesis.

She'd completed the final oral review yesterday and cheerfully celebrated with her girlfriend, Lisa, and her best friend, Barry, but tonight her nose was back to the grindstone, as it were, getting her thesis ready for committee review.

The end was nigh, she just had to power through...

"Iris..."

Except, okay, so maybe the screen was blurring a little in front of her eyes.

"Iiiiiriiissss..."

Rubbing at her eyes, Iris thought maybe she needed a coffee break.

"Okay, that's it."

Iris turned away from the computer only to get smacked face-first with a pillow. "Hey!"

"Sorry. I was aiming for the back of your head, but you turned." Lisa grinned unrepentantly, completely at odds with her words.

"Uh-huh. Sure you were," Iris grumbled, pouting.

"Honey, your eyes are looking awfully strained. You need sleep. You just finished a big step in completing your thesis and I know how much you want to be done and graduated," Lisa said. "But you've got plenty of time to slow down and not run yourself into the ground. So no more coffee. Come to bed."

Iris blinked blearily at Lisa for a moment and then nodded. "Mmkay..." She let Lisa pull her out of her chair and reach out to shut Iris's computer for her. Then she was drawn over to the bed where she sat down and reached for her pillow and... swatted Lisa in the face.

"Oh, is that how it is?" Lisa demanded with a grin.

"Oh, that's how it is," Iris responded, giggling.

Lisa beamed and laughed as she swung her pillow at Iris, only to be countered by Iris's pillow and a giggle.

Pillow versus pillow. Parry and thrust like they were wielding extremely awkward double-handed swords. Sometimes their blocks failed and they both took damage from each other's weapons of choice until, panting for breath, they collapsed onto the bed together.

Iris grinned and cuddled close to her girlfriend. "Thanks, babe. I needed that. Thank you, for reminding me to relax."

"Yeah, well, my genius-"

"Not a genius," Iris objected.

"Who is about to prove how amazing she is by graduating with a Master's degree," Lisa continued, booping Iris on the nose, "can forget about how important her own self care is sometimes. But that is what her sexy girlfriend is there for."

"Very sexy girlfriend," Iris agreed. "I should brush my teeth before we go to sleep."

"Me too." Lisa stood up and grabbed Iris' hands, giving her a hand up once again. "So I won the pillow fight, right?"

"No. I won it," Iris retorted, smirking slyly as Lisa spluttered with indignation.
