United We Stand; Divided We Fall:

Percy Jackson and the War on Order

Hey everyone. Lone Patriot here. If ya'll are taking the time to read my first story, then great! Hats off to you! As many of you are obviously aware, Corona Virus has more or less forced us all inside and whatnot. Personally I don't agree with everything the government tells us, however that's irrelevant. Due to being cooped up inside for so long, I ended up revisiting several of my favorite book series which included Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

This resulted in me becoming nostalgic for my childhood and wishing I could continue on with the adventures these characters took me on while growing up. What made it worse was when Rick Riordan released the finalTrials of Apollo book and then stated he wasn't taking on anymore contracts. Fanfiction more or less became my best friend then and I was able to read many stories that others had created using said beloved characters. So, thus here I am, sitting at my desk in my room typing away an intro to a story that I'm hoping will capture yall's attention.

Now, while reading through many other authors stories, i found myself attracted to a particular idea. Chaos stories, while often far fetched, can be quite a ride if done right. I've seen several that were done quite well but lacked in realism to the actual story line ofthe book series. Obviously though this app is meant for people to do such things and twist the stories in which ever way they see fit. I however don't plan to do that. I have every intention to write accordingly to the book series and make all scenarios as plausible and as possible in this series. Well, maybe not everything as this will end up extremely far fetched if I'm going with it the way I'm planning too, but I will for sure make some things realistic.

For example, Artemis will not fall in love with anyone as she is a maiden goddess and I just don't see that happening, even if she's the only other character besides Annabeth that I can tolerate being paired to Percy. There will be a legitimate reason for everyone's betrayal of Percy, as yes that will happen. This is a Chaos story after all. There will be no far fetched pairings whatsoever such as Annabeth and Jason or Percy and Chaos. This will be all cannon shippings which of course means Percy and Annabeth, even if I do have Annabeth betray Percy alongside everyone else. The only shippings I might consider that were never cannon, but could have been if certain events had been changed are Jason and Reyna and Thalia and Luke. However, both Luke and Jason will be dead as this story will encompass all three of Rick Riordans series based on Greek and Roman Mythology. In fact I might even go as far as to include characters from the other series Riordan has written such as The Kane Chronicles and Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard.

So, now for a few more specific points I want to make and then the story shall begin.

1. As stated earlier, this is a Percy and Annabeth story. This will not change. (Those two frickan belong together. It kills me every-time when Annabeth just dumps Percy for some idiot. Even though she will betray Percy it will all make sense in the end.)

2. As also stated previously, expect for all events within all three series to have happened. I will try to keep everything cannon in that aspect however somethings might be tweaked such as Luke not taking a second life when he dies or Reyna not joining the hunters at the end of the 4th Trials of Apollo book.

3. While only Chaos, Percy, Annabeth, and Apollo are listed as the main characters, there will be many others that play important roles. Percy's first Arch nemesis: Kronos,The cause all of Demigods nightmares: Tartarus, The deity that keeps everyone in check with their oaths: Lady Styx, The three batty, old ladies that have way too much fun snipping important things: The Three Fates, Chaos's insane and evil brother: Order, The parents of our favorite Demigods: Zeus, Athena, Posidien, and Ares, Apollos's feminist sister: Artemis, Three of the most headstrong, independent, and more or less selfless women in the series: Thalia, Reyna, and Hylla, The only Titan and Giant to side with the demigods: Bob and Damsen, The Titan everyone hates for killing his own daughter: Atlas, An occasional OC here and there as they will be needed to help the story along, and of course several characters that are dead as I can't help but bring them all back into the fray and mess that makes up these characters world.

So Without Further Adieu, I hope you all enjoy my first story! (Dang that took longer to write than I though it would...)

Chapter I

It's been so long from the beginning. So, so, very long. I should be used to it really. I am after all one of the oldest beings in existence. I've watched the world I created thrive and decline over the eons. I've watched so many happy endings, however so many tragedies at the same time. Yet no matter what happens, the world continues to go round and round. It never stops or reverses, it simply follows the same path I designed for it all those years ago.

I suppose nows as good a time as any to introduce myself. If you haven't already guessed dear reader, I am Chaos. One of the two progenti that spawned from the primordial goo known as the void. Myself, along with my brother Order, were sent from the realm of the faded by our farther, Helix, to create a new realm. Balance was placed amongst me and my brother then. I was to become the Progenti of light and Creation, while Order would be the opposite and rule over darkness and Destruction. What one must understand however, is that just because you are a being of darkness or a being of light does not define you as good or evil. Originally evil had no place in this realm. I remember when it first came though...

My brother had been experimenting with his powers of destruction for some time. In the event of my creations becoming to over abundant or gone wrong, his job would be to destroy them. At first he was happy with this. Especially when I even created him other beings of darkness to balance out my beings of light. Tartarus, Uranus, and Nyx served him faithfully and happily for the first several centuries of there existence just as Pontus, Chronus, and Anake served me happily and faithfully. However, our system of peace and prosperity was not to last...

My brother grew tired of pure destruction. And while he had been grateful for the beings I had created him, he grew discontented and wanted to make things and create as well. The laws of the universe set by our father however prohibited him from doing so. his job was to destroy, not create. yet that didn't stop him. He tried to create his own beings using magic that I had never seen nor heard of before. In creating his own creations, he ended up driving himself mad. his magic backfired on him and he slowly grew contorted and twisted, no longer resembling the brother I had known.

As his mind slowly fermented, he started to become aggressive. his new servants he had somehow created were just like him; being twisted and evil in their ways. Eventually, it grew down to a boiling point and things went to a head. The forces of Light along with the servants of darkness I had created clashed with the new twisted beings order had made.

My brother was outraged that his own servants had turned against him and this further angered him against me, which resulted in him blaming me and accusing me for plotting against him this whole time. The universe shook with the power being thrown about but in the end, myself and my forces stood victorious and my brother and his servants were banished far from earth, hopefully to never be seen again. However, my brother left one last parting gift.

The forces of darkness that had fought alongside me were now influenced by evil as the lord of both dark and light project their morals upon their subjects. So while i had created the dark beings, they were now turning evil as their master was still Order. I watched in sorrow alongside the other beings of light as our friends slowly gave in to the temptations pushed upon them. Soon all creatures of darkness, while originally having not a drop of evil in their veins, became the most monstrous beings on the planet. What was worse still though was that even beings of light could give in to the temptations of evil. Even those with souls as bright as the sun could give in to the darkest of evils.

I suppose you wonder where I'm going with this. You see, this is all background information. Information to give you all perspective. Perspective of how and why many of the beings that play a role in this story are the way they are. One can't simply judge on those whose backstories they are unfamiliar with. So without further adieu, let us begin this tale.

Our story starts at the ending of another. I watched from above as the former god, Apollo fought his greatest enemy: the mighty Python. They clashed throughout the crevices of the world until they found themselves on the edge of the Void. There, Apollo managed to hold on to the small shelf he was clinging too while the great snake he battled succumbed to the nothingness below them.

It was then I decided to intervene. You see, though he didn't know it at the time, Apollo had a great role to fill in the conflict to come. I knew this much as my old servant; Lady Anake had told me before passing into the void and joining the realm of the faded. She had mentioned that the sun god would play the key to reversing a great evil done to the greatest within the Mythical World. Who she referred to I had no idea at the time, but I knew that yet another conflict was brewing. The Fates had confirmed it and all five of Apollo's oracles were echoing the same prophetic words. Knowing that this was my chance, I sent down my most faithful servant, the Lady Styx. Goddess of the River Styx and the being in charge of holding all to their oaths.

If you have read Apollo's memories recording his journeys, you will know of the conversation that follows, however it was actually much longer than Apollo would have you believe. In fact the conversation that Apollo records down in his books is barely a few sentences long. However it was for the best at the time. If everyone had been made aware of what to come there would've been mass chaos, so the real conversation was obscured. Until now at least...

"Have you learned?" Lady Styx asked. Apollo hung onto his small shelf by his finger tips; barley managing to keep himself from being dragged into the void.

"Yes," he managed to croak out miserably. "Too late, but I get it now."

She studied him seemingly satisfied. "Hold on to that then," she said.

"What, the rock? Or the lesson?" Apollo managed to get out.

The lady of the River chuckled which was an eire sound in that place of the world.

"I suppose you'll have to decide," she said smiling down at the former sun god. "However," the goddess continued. "I'd hang on to both, as you're needed in the confrontation to come." With that, she leaned forward and touched Apollo on the center of his brow and he started to glow. Within seconds, Apollo resembled his old self again. The handsome, blonde, blue eyed god that many had come to love and respect even more so in his time spent amongst the mortals.

Apollo blinked in surprise as he now let go of the edge he'd been hanging onto so desperately. He stood there now floating next to Lady Styx as both looked down at the primordial goo that withered below them.

Many thoughts rushed through the gods mind as he once again turned his head to his companion. His first thought uttered though was; "Why?"

"Why?" Lady Styx echoed back. "Because believe it or not Apollo these trials weren't just for yourself to become more responsible. You will have an important role to play in the future and it was of the utmost importance that you had become the person you are now."

"But what do you mean my lady?" The newly remade god said. "Why would I of all people play an important role? I am not one who deserves godhood for sure. Spending time amongst the demigods has taught me much and I will forever remember what it's like to be human and to act on their morals. But I am not worthy. There are those who are far greater than I."

"Modesty suits you Apollo," Lady Styx smiled. "However too much of it causes one to think too lowly of themselves. You have a knack for over doing it. Don't take it too far."

Apollo smiled sheepishly at the goddess's stern but amused gaze. "Now," she continued. "I was not only sent here to see if you had learned your lesson and give you back your godhood, but also to warn you. We don't know what's coming yet, not even Chaos does, but we know another conflict approaches and that it will be larger than all conflicts the earth has gone through."

"Yet another?" Apollo said aghast. "We have fought three major conflicts in the past three years including mine! That's not to even count what the other major pantheons have faced! And you say this is to be larger than all combined?! Are you sure Chaos has no idea? Forgive me, but I find that extremely hard to believe that not even she has an idea!"

"You're faith in the creator is commending Apollo," Lady Styx said. "And yes she has an idea, but she has not shared it with us and claims that it is extremely far fetched."

Apollo nodded gravely. "Is there anything else then you can tell me?"

"Unfortunately no Apollo," Lady Styx replied. "That is all the warning I have and I advise you to enact on it. I will transport you back to your palace on Olympus where you will most likely be out of it for the next few weeks due to your domains reattaching to yourself."

"Gee some warning..." Apollo remarked snidely. Styx frowned in disapproval.

"Heed my words Apollo. Though we don't know what is to come fully, you will have a role to play that if not played right, could possibly endanger us all." With that she snapped her fingers and Apollo disappeared. A moment later lady Styx once again stood before myself.

"I warned him my lady, however if he actually enacts on said warning is up to him."

"I'd be surprised if he didn't." I replied. All five oracles are echoing the same prophecy. Even if Apollo never warns the gods the signs will be there waiting for them."

With that, I went on with my day. Believe it or not but running the universe is not as easy as it seems.

One year later...

I stood in my throne room pacing. The reports had been off the charts however nothing pointed to my brother. Yes I had my suspicions it was him that was to be the next threat the world faced, however no signs pointed to him. He had not stirred from his prison and neither had his minions, yet the world had seemed to throw all rational thought to the wind.

By all things good and true I hope these reports are false... I was interrupted from my thoughts by by lady Styx entering the room along with the three fates. I waited for them to approach me until they stood right in front of me.

"And...?" I asked hesitantly when none of them spoke.

"The reports are true my lady," lady Styx said with a blank look on her face. All four of them seemed shell shocked; as if they had just watched the worst of atrocities committed.

I stared at them in shock. "He's really...?"

"Yes," the middle Fate croaked. "He somehow managed to take hold of his own life string. He is no longer in the land of the living nor the land of the dead. He has committed the most efficient of suicides. He's not coming back my lady..."

I stood there not knowing what to do. The fact that a series of events had taken place that the fates had not been able to influence or guide in the slightest terrified me frankly. I maybe the most powerful being to exist, but if such things can happen amongst mortal levels, then what's not to say something happening on a global scale? Even still though the fact that they drove him so far as to give himself up completely...

"Do you think this is the start of it?" Lady styx asked.

"It could be my daughter..." I replied hollow. "We must be diligent. For all we know they had there own reasons for causing this, but this might be the beginning. Are the oracles still out?"

"Indeed my lady," the first Fate replied. "And Apollo managed to escape. Even still though no one, including Apollo himself has been able to hear the Last Prophecy."

"I don't get it!" I shouted. "Apollo was supposed to reconnect with all his domains! Why did all the oracles go dark once he retained godhood again!?"

Nobody answered me. I stood there breathing hard. It wasn't like we could just go and tell them what it was. An oracle had to deliver the prophecy. Anyone else delivering it would discount its credibility. Even coming from myself people would be skeptical. People tended to trust only what they knew worked. The oracles worked, (more or less) and so they trusted them. However with all that had happened now and the way they viewed Apollo, things seemed to be going from bad to worse...

I turned back to my companions again and sighed. "We will have to wait it out then. We can't fight what's coming until it's showed itself. They made their first move, and now we've made ours. It's once again their turn to make a play."

Five years later...

A quiet wind blew across the desolate Tartarus landscape. The land was empty; not even a single monster trudged across the dark plains. Near the edge of a cliff however where two demigods had once tricked the Primordial of Night; Nyx, something stirred from the depths.

The vast ocean of primordial sludge known as the void glowed with power. The last time it had glowed with such power was when myself and my brother had been cast out of it by our father. The sludge continued to glow until it came to a point where it was practically boiling. It seems any moment it would erupt, however out of nowhere it calmed.

All was silent for a few moments before a figures hand suddenly splashed out of the void; clawing at the vast cavern above it as it tried to reach its way for a handhold. Finding none, the hand once again submerged and all was calm again.

That is until a large humanoid figure burst out of the void with such force and power that it could've rivaled the power of an atomic bomb. The figure was blasted so high in fact that it landed on the edge of the cliff above.

It stayed not moving for a moment in the position it had landed in, then it looked up to face the darkness before him. The being had to two eyes, one that glowed a deep blood red while the other a lighter more pinkish red. His skin was albino white and not a single scar seemed to mark his being. Messy, long black hair hung down past his shoulders and his mouth was contorted in a smile affiliated with that of an insane person. He laughed a dark, wretched laugh that not even my brother Order could pull and took in his surroundings.

Finally, he spoke. "Hello world, your savior has returned!"

Well there ya go everyone! First chapter done! Don't know when the next will be started or finished as I'm not giving myself a time frame to do this but hopefully it will be sooner rather than later. Anyways, have a good day or night or week or whatever and I'll be seeing y'all later!
