Rey was flying back to the Resistance base from the Exegol. Although she was sitting paralyzed, there were traces of tears on her cheeks.

"Rey." She heard Ben Solo's voice and saw him sitting in the Death Star wreckage.

"I thought force ghosts look differently," she whispered, eyes wide open.

"I'm alive. I wasn't on Exegol, I used a force projection, like Luke on Crait. My mother helped me… She's gone, Rey."

"I thought you died!" Rey raised her voice.

Ben came closer. "I didn't."

They looked into each other's eyes for a moment.

"I actually had no ship to fly to Exegol," Ben smirked. "You took mine."

"Yeah, I did," she chuckled. Then she quickly turned to him. "I'll come for you."

The Millennium Falcon landed on the Death Star wreckage. Ben walked over to the ship and looked up, his face was thoughtful and sad. He entered the ship slowly, skimming across the walls with his hand.

Rey ran towards him and hugged him tightly.

"I don't know where we can go now." She released him and sat in the pilot's chair.

Ben looked at her hesitantly. "I know a place."

When they landed, Rey was the first to leave the ship, followed by BB-8. She looked around the homestead, then went outside and buried Leia and Luke's lightsabers. She turned on her own" a yellow, steady blade appeared. A sign that she did not want to repeat the mistakes of the old Jedi, but she wanted love and compassion to guide her through the Force.

"There's been no one for so long. Who are you?" an old woman asked.

"I'm Rey."

"Rey who?"

Rey looked to the side and saw her old masters. "Rey Skywalker."

She turned towards the horizon and watched the binary sunrise. After a short while she heard footsteps.

"I'm sorry you're back in the desert," Ben said softly.

"I don't mind the sand." She looked at him. "I've minded loneliness."

When Rey and Ben entered the courtyard, they saw Luke Skywalker's ghost. Ben inhaled quickly and froze.

"Good to see this place becoming a home again," Luke said, looking around. "Rey, you need to know something. You are no Palpatine. He deceived both of you. He only needed a powerful force user and that was his way to get to you."

"But…" Rey's face was confused. "I spoke with you on Ahch-to about it! You said Leia knew!"

"It wasn't me, Rey. I have never appeared to you on Ahch-to. It must have been Palpatine's doing. I believe he used your force bond… He had been messing with Ben's head for so long and due to your connection he gained access to your mind, too. Look into yourself. Feel it. Deep inside you know it's true."

Rey closed her eyes and inhaled deeply. Then she slowly opened her eyes. "I know."

"Ben…" Luke turned towards his nephew. "I have no words to express how sorry I am. I could not forgive myself for raising my saber on you. I saw evil in you, but now I know it wasn't yours, but Snoke's."

Leia's ghost appeared by Luke's side. "We failed you… we were too busy rebuilding the world and made you an easy prey for Snoke."

Ben stared at his mother intensively. She came close to him and touched his cheek.

"You finished my fight," she said quietly. "Now I just want you to be happy."

Rey was tidying up one of the rooms, when she spotted a picture lying on the floor. She picked it up and saw a portrait of a woman. "Who is this?"

Ben came to her and looked at the picture. "I think it's my great-grandmother, Shmi Skywalker. I don't know much about her, but I heard she was very kind."

They stared at the woman's gentle smile for a moment. Then Rey walked over to the wall and hung the picture.
