There are many metaphors I can compare to with my life. For example, the cliched rollercoaster everyone clamors about. About how there are ups and downs, how you are excited in the very beginning, low to no hesitation to start this very new thing called "life". And how certain parts make you scared, happy, thrilled or even want to throw up. Personally, I like to compare it to a snowball as it gains mass and momentum as it rolls down a steep snow covered hill. The problems start out small of course, but over time they've only become bigger and bigger. It wasn't always like this. I was born into what seemed to be a loving family from the outside. But one slip up became another and the third time became the last time and the last time was the last time I saw what piece's of my mother's heart were left along side the dirty floor with another dirty woman's undergarments. That was the day my mother left me with my good for nothing father. I don't know why I was left with that cheating piece of shit of a man, but to each their own I guess. I was too young to comprehend it all, but little did I know that was the start of it all, and all I knew was the fact that nothing could be done, not until I was eighteen and out of high school. I still, however, had a ways to go.

Slam!

"Are you deaf or something, or do I need to say it louder?!" I looked up to the person talking to me. It was a 'same shit different day' type of ordeal. You see, just because my good for nothing father is the vice principal of this piece of shit school, didn't mean my treatment would be any better than... well, below average. "My homework, titless. You have it or not?!"

"Maybe if you didn't interrupt me at my locker and behaved civilly," I began, looking my tormentor right in the eyes. "I would of had it out right now and we both would be on our merry way."

Their eyes narrowed at me as their frown followed suite. There I go again, pissing off another client. I felt the ends of the hairs within my tightly made ponytail as their grip pulled it upwards. I winced. "Enough of your fucking games!" He growled, fire leaving their mouth. Wow, his breath stinks.

"Oh common, Killik, I thought pulling girl's hair was something left in kindergarten." I managed to joke causing him to release me out of frustration and slight embarrassment from what I can tell. That's one point on the scoring board so far and it's barely seven thirty in the morning. I reached into my bag and pulled out a dark green folder with his name written in thick sharpie.

Killik

Clear as day.

The boy snatched the folder out of my hand, opened it and grabbed whatever assignment he was talking about before throwing the folder back into my face and walking away. "A 'Thank You' could do you some justice!" I called out as he left me alone at my locker. He only gave me the bird as he turned a corner. I chuckled to myself as I put the folder back into my bag with the others. In my satchel looking bag I carried a handful of color coordinated folders all with the names of my aforementioned tormentors ranging from dark green as in 'they go pretty easy on me' to dark purple. We don't like to talk about Dark Purple.

That's right, the life of Maka Albarn can be tough, but I'll take what I can get. I mean, I am known as the school's walking, talking calculator slash punching bag, and that's on a good day. I'm pretty lucky that I don't let things like 'titless' get to me, otherwise, we'd be here for a while.

Anyway, I placed the folder back in it's spot, dusted off my skirt and-

"Well, well, well!" A voice squeaked. I flinched. "If it isn't the lowly twat and her raggedy ass ponytails!" I stood, frozen, in the middle of the school hallway, body faced opposite of this oppressor. I felt the blood in my veins run cold. How lovely. It was Dark Purple. "I know you're not ignoring me Albarn!" I looked over my shoulder to see the young woman decreasing our distance. I couldn't help to notice her massive jugs bobbing up and down as our worlds would soon clash with each other and her pack of muts who constantly surrounded her. My straight face turned into a frown as I felt my own heart start beating faster and faster. I may talk like I am big shit, but the truth is, at this school at least, nothing matters when the Queen of skanks is present. "Now Maka, why so stiff all of the sudden." She purred. "Don't think I don't know what you said to my dearest friend Giriko."

"Friend? Or Toy, Blair." I blurted without hesitation. My heart sank. Why did I say that?! Why Maka, why?

"Toy?" She said in a whiney tone, "Why, the only toy here is you, Miss Albarn." Her child-like tone turned aggressive really quick as she lifted her hand to shoulder length and snapped her fingers. Just as quickly, two of her boy toys had me in a lock that I was unable to escape. "Tsk tsk tsk," her lips pursed, "An attitude like that would never get a failed abortion like you anywhere."

"You're one to talk" I muttered. Again. Why Maka? Why?

I heard myself gasp as one of her rats pulled me by my hair. I saw her expression change again. "Well, aren't you chatty this morning." she growled. Not good. "You know, I can change that real fast," She inched closer to me, her fake nail pointed at the middle of my neck. "You know how much better the world would be if a bitch like you couldn't talk back." The stiletto was now scratching an 'X' on my jugular. "Now if you just apologize to me and my dear friend Killik, we can avoid using the professors...tools." Her purple lips smirked as the words dripped off her tongue and into the already thick air.

"I-I'm s-sorry." I choked feeling her fingers at my neck.

The woman smirked and snapped her fingers. The rats released me and I fell to the floor on my knees. She bent down towards me and petted my head like I was some child.
"See," she purred. "was that too hard?" She then stood up straight and with one quick kick I was pressed against the floor and pinned by the weight of her body. "Let us all hope that this bitchlet has learned her lesson for today." the purple haired princess began with glee, "I would hate to get my hands dirty."

Blair released the pressure she had sandwiching me between her and the floor and lead her gang of hooligans out of the hallway. I sat up and gasped for air feeling my neck for marks or even worse...blood. To my luck, no blood but I could feel the remnants of an 'X' left by the schools biggest whore.

I hate it here. I really do. The only reason why I still attend this place is to make my dipshit of a father happy, but as soon as I am eighteen, as soon as I get my hands on that diploma, I am saying goodbye to this hell hole of a school, this bitch of a city and starting a new life.

Just like Mom.

I sighed and put myself together emotionally. I just got to make it through this semester. Just five more months. Five more months and I am free.

The first bell eventually rang and I headed to class. To no surprise, I was the first one there. Great. I took my usual seat towards the middle left of the class about two seats away from the window. I let out a sigh as I pulled a book from my bag. The ten minutes between the first and second bell were usually my prime time for reading without being bothered as much. With Professor Stein as my witness, I felt some kind of security. I mean, the man is rumored to take apart and put together poorly behaved students. But I think I am in the clear...for now.

"Miss Albarn," My session was interrupted. I looked over and saw the professor with a half lit cigarette still in-between his lips. I tilted my head in question, "we are going to be switching seats around today. It would be best if you didn't get too comfortable." I only shrugged my shoulders and kept staring at the same page of literature I have been stuck on. I frowned. Perfect.

Slowly but surly, the class began to fill up with the same tired faces of fellow early birds somehow ready to start this 'educational crusade'. Then followed Blair and her pack of muts. I noticed some were left behind. Luckily not everyone had Stein's Biology class this early in the morning. Soon after, her fellow pack mates strolled in including Elizabeth and Patty Thompson. They were twins, not identical but twins nonetheless. Some more of their clique would come in before the last bit of nobodies took their seats.

The final bell made its toll and everyone eventually clamored down as the teacher took our attendance.

"Patricia Thompson?" he sighed reading the roster in his usual robotic way. This was his least favorite part of the day.

"Here!" her voice squeaked.

The man rolled his eyes, "Black Star?" Silence filled the room. The man didn't even bother looking around before clicking his red pen inching it towards the name he had just called out. Before the ball of the pen could meet the paper-

SLAM!

The door swung open with such force that it caused a gust of wind to follow suite and disrupt some papers. I didn't even bother looking up, this became too much of a routine at this point in the school year.

"Yahooooo!" A figured jumped through the door onto the lab desk with such speed and agility it almost seemed animated. "Sorry to keep my beloved fans waiting! But your GOD has arrived!" He strutted an equally animated pose. Patty was the only one who clapped.

"You're late...again." The professor muttered readjusting his glasses. "What's your excuse this ti-"

"HAHAHAHA!"

"And get off my desk before you receive another detention."

The blue haired boy jumped off the desk with no hesitation but kept a big wide smile displayed on his face, almost as if he were pleading innocence. "C'mon Stein, you know better than anyone else that the lockers' gone to shit! That's why my bestest bud needed a God's help! Ah hah hah! Soul can't do anything without my godliness helping him!"

Like he was on queue, in came the man of the minute, huffing and puffing, red in the face. Soul 'Eater' Evans. I rolled my eyes as murmurs of female voices started going gaga over their snow white haired playboy.

"Dammit Star!" The boy puffed, "You didn't have to leave me stranded in the hallway." He began to regain his composure and steady his breath. "So not cool man."

"HA HA HA! I couldn't let my beloved followers wait on their God!"

"Hmp, some God you are." I muttered to myself. Who would follow such a dumbass anyway?

"Enough you two." Stein started in a stern tone. "More of that, and we'll see how mortal your God-complex really is under a microscope." The boys practically ran to their seats after that. I sighed setting my book down readying myself for my own name to be called and for class to continue as usual. "Anyway, Evans, glad you can make it in for once this week."

"What can I say Stein," the leather jacketed boy responded, "AP Biology isn't my thing, but chemistry might be." he smirked winking at one of his fangirls causing an overdramatic gasp come from the group she was in.

"Ah ha ha," Stein continued with a sarcastic laugh "We both know you need these credits in order to graduate, Evans. I recommend you start getting your shit together...which reminds me..." He flipped a page from his roster clipboard. "We will be changing seats, as ritual to our new semester."

"But wasn't the beginning of the semester last month?" Someone questioned.

There was a pause of silence before our teacher had continued. "Anyway, because the rest of your semester will be lab based, I would suggest you get comfortable with the person I seat you with. Now, Mister Evans, since you want to be a smart ass, you will be seated next to the only person who seems to be passing this class." Oh no. "Maka Albarn, lucky for you, you'll be moving one seat to the left and Soul, you will take her seat." My heart jumped hearing my name, I guess I didn't prepare myself for that one, or see that coming. I frowned and furrowed my brows, opening my mouth to say something but my future lab partner interrupted before I could protest.

"You've got to be kidding me Stein!" The quote unquote 'Coolest Guy in School' pried. "You're seating me next to the flat chested know-it-all."

"Who knows, maybe her knowledge would rub off on you." Stein responded coldly.

"So uncool." I heard him mutter. It wasn't like I was happy about this either. I mean, he's just a big mouthed play boy who has practically eye-fucked the entire female population.

"He's right Professor Stein," a voice began, it was Dark Purple's voice, "If anything, Souly should be sat with someone...less of a goodie two shoes." I could tell she was choosing her words to get out of being Stein's next victim. The class snickered at that comment anyway. "What's wrong with sitting him next to someone cooler? Like Lizzy or Giriko."

"Last time I checked, neither of them passed last semester's final exam." the grey haired man continued, "Besides, this isn't the end of the world, so I would suggest you kids get over yourselves and do what you're told or there will be consequences. Got it?" The class fell silent. "Good. As I was saying..."

Stein continued setting out the game plan of this semester's seating arrangement, but because no one bothered to listen to him, he eventually pulled out a screen projector with a sheet basically depicting what was said. Eventually everyone else understood the plan and got themselves situated.

"Now that everyone has settled in, I would like to announce this week's assignment." Everyone groaned.

I couldn't help but feel the fiery anger that was sitting next to me. Nor could I help but feel the endless set of envious eyes that were laid upon my backside. Oh cool, this is great. Another reason to be picked on. I kept my focus on the board but my head was elsewhere. Fear was settling in as I noticed that the class was almost over as Stein had released people of their short attention spans and was now on the computer. I sank into my seat as I pulled the book I was reading prior.

I was only sentences in until I began to hear voices.

"I can't believe Stein forced Soul to sit next to the bookworm." It was a female's voice, I continued staring at the page I was on listening in to their conversation.

"I know right!"

"She's gonna pay for this!"

Cool. Great. Awesome. Something to look forward to after school. I let out a sigh zoning back out of the conversation. This is just great. Thank you Stein for single handedly ruining the rest of my school year. I flipped a page from the book hoping that would take me out of this world.

"Wow Soul," Fucking hell. "it's a real bummer you have to sit next to titless for the rest of the semester." This time the voice came from behind me. I kept my attention on the book unable to re-immerse myself. "I mean, you're fucking Soul Evans, the coolest guy in school, sitting next to a walking talking dictionary." Haven't heard that one before. I tried to keep my eye roll to myself. "I can feel your reputation sinking by the second."

"It's just one class Liz." I heard him respond with an irritated sigh, "Besides, Stein's right, I could use this lab rat as a grade booster." I heard the two laugh as their conversation about me continued.

"Still, I think Blair can do something about this." Liz pressed, I can feel her look at me as she spoke. "She could, ya know-"

"You're kidding me," the boy interrupted. "I'm not asking Blair for shit, not after last time." he started bouncing his pencil against the hardwood table making that annoying tap tap tapping sound.

"Yeah but it would beat having the pest as a playmate."

I closed my hardcover book and started putting my things into my book bag. I've heard enough. I scooted out of my seat and headed towards the door to classroom sensing the bell, however I couldn't help but feel all eyes were on me as I did so.

This is going to be a long day.
