"Love without friendship is like a shadow without the sun."
– Japanese Proverb.
There was a young woman of unearthly beauty, her blue eyes shone clearer in the night. She loved the water that resembled her: calm and soothing. Her semblance gave the impression she came from a realm of virtue, yet she had lost something precious – many things in fact, small pieces of her heart. They had fallen apart due to deception, pouring like tears, shining like pearls. Without them, she was trapped in resentment and pain.
Wounded as she was, she could not feel herself complete, at home.
A young man deceived her in the past; he had taken and shattered some of those pieces. Regretful, he wished to amend his wrongdoing. She rejected him, but her pain increased. Seeing her in such suffering, the young man offered to help her heal her pure heart. Even if not reconstruct it, find new pieces to make up for the old ones.
She wished to feel as though she belonged so they went to confront the man that had first wounded her by destroying her former home.
Time had not been merciful, they found him raggedy and miserable. The young woman felt her broken heart tremble.
There was pain, there was sadness. There were memories.
She turned away from the evil man.
There was acceptance.
The sky cleared soon after, the vibrant sunlight mixed with sad raindrops. They created a glow similar to the pearls that had fallen from her, so she took it to fill her own faults.
She thanked the young man with a hug. Her smile was radiant, her skin was warm, her eyes shone clearer the darker the sky became. The falling sun joined the moon to provide different halos of intertwined vitality and melancholy for her.
She felt at home as a new self. She repeated it. She belonged.
