Marinette POV:
Ahh, normalcy, whatever that means. Being a normal girl was what I intended but one pair of earrings made that ship sail, without me on it. My name is Marinette Dupain-cheng. I shouldn't be saying this but I am Ladybug. No one knows it. Not even the person I trust most. His name is Chat Noir. We've been at this, fighting akuma's, for almost 3 months. That may not sound like a lot but having an akuma almost everyday makes it seem like 3 years. Just because normal wasn't what people would summarize my life if they knew who I was. I have my own type of normal.
Chat Noir and I were fighting an akuma the week our lives changed and it was a tough one. Her name was Nightlock. She makes people dream their worst fears. I thought I knew what mine was at the time but I was wrong. I was protecting Chat as he was doing for me. Nightlock was one of the longest akuma's. If she hits you or you breath in her fog, then you fall asleep in a nightmare.
I called my lucky charm and was figuring out what to do with it while Chat distracted the akuma. As I was figuring it out, I looked at Chat who was stuck in Nightlock's fog. Without thinking, I jumped into the fog and was conscious long enough to throw Chat out.
That's when I woke up, or I thought I did. I woke up in my bed. I looked at my phone and saw that it was 7:00. I got ready for school and made it there early for once.
"Do my eyes decide me? Is Marinette Dupain-Cheng early for once?" That was my best friend, Alya. She has several blogs and is a Ladybug superfan. She is also Rena Rouge but, no one knows that but Nino.
"I woke up early. It's because of my new alarm clock." I lied because I didn't want to tell them about my dream. I wanted to start getting into a routine of waking up early. I woke up early when I was still asleep from the akuma but for the wrong reasons.
"That's great dudette. Gives us more time to hang before class." That was Nino. He is a great DJ and a good friend of mine. He is also Carapace and Alya's boyfriend.
I smiled at Nino and Alya when a car drove up to drop someone off. It was the boy I love, Adrein Agreste. He is the son of Gabriel Agreste, a fashion designer. Adrien is a super cute boy that I sit behind and daydream about. It's not his looks that made me fall in love with him. It's the fact that he's a kind hearted soul. Kind of reminds me of Luka in a way.
"Hey Mari. Glad to see you can make it on time." Adrien said, waving a hand. He was walking toward us and my face just burned up. I didn't know how to respond. My legs felt weak but I kept my balance.
"Uhh...h-hi Adrien. Nice to s-see you." I always stumble on my words around him. Even though I was with Luka, I still felt something for Adrien.
"Hey Marinette." Luka was walking toward me.
"Luka! Hi." I said. I didn't know why. Shouldn't I be a little more excited about seeing my boyfriend?
"Really, that's all I get." I guess he was right so ran up to him and kissed him. He smiled as I pulled away and he wrapped an arm around me. The group walked over to us.
"Scoop! Marinette has a boyfriend!" Alya yelled as she ran over to us. I was smiling as they surrounded us.
"Oh, Marinette, you have a boyfriend?" The voice irked me. It was none other than Lila Rossi, the meanest girl at school. She lies and nobody knows except Adrien and I. She got me expelled once.
"Yeah. Do you have a problem with that?" I said a bit harshly. Everyone looked at me. Lila had a shocked expression on her face. She smiled and did a little laugh.
"Oh Marinette, you are too funny. I just wanted to congratulate you." Her smile was wide as she narrowed her eyes at me. No one noticed but I did.
"Mari, you need to give Lila a break." Alya said. Yeah, I'll give her a break. I'll give her a break in her leg.
"Yeah dudette." Nino said. Of course they believe her. I'm the only one along with Adrien. I knew mostly because I'm Ladybug and Volpina was part of the whole "Villains day" plot that Hawk Moth created. She was claimed to be in Achu at that time.
"I need to go." I pushed Luka's arm off my shoulder and walked away. I was tense and my hands were in fists.
"You can't just walk away from your friends like that." That was Tikki. She is my kwami. She gives me my powers. She is a really good friend and is the only person I can talk about my double life with.
"I'm not storming away from my friends. I'm storming away from Lila." I said to her. I didn't even look. I stormed to the lockers and opened my assigned locker.
I hid Tikki in my locker as I pulled my bag in front of my face. "I'm not going to talk to a liar like her."
"Maybe you need to give her a chance." Tikki said.
"A chance, A CHANCE! Didn't you hear what she said in the bathroom when she started school again. Didn't you hear what she said to me when school ended that very same day. I'm not going to give her a chance." I put my bag down as I heard footsteps. I turned and saw Luka, a little out of breath. "Oh, hey Luka."
"Mari, I know that you don't like Lila but she's nice." I knew Luka was trying to make me feel better but it didn't help.
"Lila isn't nice. Everyone thinks she has this amazing life but she doesn't. She lies just to have people like her. I'm the only one who sees it and I just wish other people will too. I'm not jealous, I just know the truth. Plus, she tried to kick me out of school. She lied to get me back in for some reason but she lies with every breath." That was all I could say about her, the truth. That day I got expelled was the worst. I think there is some hope for people believing me about Lila. If Alya could see right through that lie then maybe other people could see through all of them.
"Listen, I know this girl pushes your buttons but, trust me, she won't get anywhere near you." Even though Luka might still be in Lila's trap, I'm happy that he'll protect me from her.
I smiled and looked Luka in the eyes. "Thank you." It was all I could muster. That and a hug.
"Whenever you need me, I'll be right here." As far as I was concerned at this moment, he was all I needed, until later that day. An akuma threatened to make the Eiffel Tower collapse and fall on a bunch of people.
It was lunch break so I decided to go home and eat. We had the tv on and it just so happened that a news broadcast interrupted the show. "Breaking news: An akuma threatens to make Paris' most loved monument, the Eiffel Tower, fall on a bunch of people." Nadia Chamack said in horror. It showed the scene as Chat Noir tried to hold off a very powerful akuma.
I ran up to my room and opened my purse. "That cat's going to need our help." I say to Tikki as she flies out of my bag.
"Just say the words." She said in her cute voice.
"Tikki, spots on! Yeah!" The pink light surrounds me as I transform into one of Paris' guardians, Ladybug. I jumped onto my terrace and used my yo-yo to quickly make it to the Eiffel Tower. I assess the situation. Chat was fighting the akuma that threw fire, good to know. It seems the akuma only threw with her right hand. I noticed a bracelet went around her wrist and had a chain with a ring in the end go to her middle finger.
Chat jumped up next to me. "Hello M'lady, how are you today?"
"I'm getting a little hot. You?"
"Almost got my tail scorched off but other than that, I'm ok." I watched the akuma look for us as we hid behind a chimney. All we had to do was get the bracelet the akuma was in.
"Lucky charm!" I threw my yo-yo in the air and I got an oven mit. "What am I supposed to do with this?"
"There you are!" The akuma said as she spotted us. I used my yo-yo and grabbed Chat's waist as I got us away. We ran until we thought we got away. I was trying to figure out what to do with my lucky charm while Chat watched for anything related to the akuma.
"I got it!" I say. "We need to touch the akuma's bracelet to destroy the akuma." Chat nodded along with it. "What if the bracelet is hot. We would need the glove to touch it." It all made sense but one component was missing.
"Makes sense but how will we get close enough?" Chat's question sunk in as she was trying to think of that.
"What if we put her in the water so the bracelet is wet. Maybe it will produce smoke long enough for us to grab it." The pieces were slowly coming together as I tried to get everything in place.
"'That's a great idea." We ran out of our hiding spot and found where the akuma was.
"For all of you that don't know, I am Firestorm and I'm going to burn everyone in this train car." Firestorm must have had super strength to get the train car from the underground tunnels up to the surface. We just stood there, watching helplessly at the flying akuma. "The only way you can save them is if you give me your Miraculous!"
I was ready to attack when Chat did the unthinkable. He ran into the train car with one of the doors still open while firebrand threw a ball of flames into it. The smoke was thick as I watched as every one of out with one of the doors cataclysmed. Everyone was escaping, coughing from the smoke. Everyone but Chat.
"CHAT!" I yelled as everyone was out. I ran in as the smoke slowly exited the train the same way the people did. I saw Chat lying on the floor. He had burns on his face and blisters. Places of his suit were scorched away as blisters and blood took its place. "Chat?" I said in a quiet voice. I was on my hands and knees as I tried to shake Chat awake. There was no pulse, no heartbeat. There was nothing yet I still thought he was sleeping. I cried as I tried to figure out what I was going to do without him.
I emerged from the bus and looked right into the akuma's eyes. My eyes were filled with hatred and fury while her's were full of malice and power. I did what I had to do. At the end of the battle, I took off the bracelet and purified the akuma. I didn't care about the girl who took the place of the menacing Firestorm. I only cared about Chat and this akuma made me realize my true feelings. "Miraculous ladybug." The miraculous ladybugs fixed everything, or so I thought. By the time I got to Chat, they disappeared and left Paris to be one glorious city again. When I got there, Chat was in the same condition. No pulse, no heartbeat. Just burns and blisters. It was devastating. "Chat?" I sat down next to him. I had to grab his ring if he was really dead. He can't be. There were too many times this almost happened and now it did. "I love you." I said as I cried out in tears. I grabbed his ring and a green glow surrounded the boy I now love. Adrien Agreste took his pace and I stared at the body. I knew I had to go before anyone found me. I was in the underground tunnels of the train station now and the train was starting to re-open. I left the boy I loved for all these months and went home to cry until my heart breaks even more than it already has.
