It's been 50 years since Hanna Barbera officially began and to celebrate, the network was hosting a special event that would air live on tv.
The HB cast were setting things up for the celebration, the cartoon characters were practicing their lines. Snagglepuss noticed that Quick Draw was talking to some of the camera crew. After he finished, Snagglepuss approached the horse.
"What's going on?" Snagglepuss said.
"I got the okay from WIll and Joe to do something special for the 50 year anniversary" Quick Draw said. "You know my Baba Boy right?"
"Yeah, you two have been dating since you started working together" Snagglepuss said, "Wait, don't tell me you're gonna-"
"Don't ruin the surprise" Quick Draw said.
"Right, sorry" Snagglepuss said. "If there's anything you need to do, just let me know"
"Well there is one thing," Quick Draw said. He leans in and whispers something into Snagglepuss' ear.
"You got it," Snagglepuss said. He then leaves to do the thing Quick Draw told him to do.
It was finally time, the cameras were rolling, the stage was set and it was time for the celebration to begin.
The characters got on stage and began to perform for the final act of the show. Everything was going to plan, with not one mistake during the performance.
When everyone was scheduled to leave the stage, they were instead halted by the crew. The host of the special began to speak.
"Not only are we celebrating 50 years of fun," the host said. "We are also celebrating 50 years of laughter, sadness and romance. Take it away Quick Draw McGraw"
Everyone was confused. They weren't told that Quick Draw was having a solo, nor were they told that this was a part of the special.
"Thank you good host sir" Quick Draw said. He takes Baba Looey's hand and they both walk on stage,
"Queek Straw what's happening?" Baba Looey said.
"Maestro?" Quick Draw said. The orchestra plays and Quick Draw begins to sing.
"Wise men say, only fools rush in" He sang. "But I can't help falling in love with you"
He does a little dance around Baba Looey. The other cartoons I watched.
"Like, was this a part of the routine?" Shaggy asked.
"I don't think Quick Draw took his horse pills today," Yogi said.
"Shall I stay? Would it be a sin?" Quick Draw continued. "If I can't help, falling in love with you"
The music dies down. Quick Draw clears his throat.
"Well Baba Boy, it's been 50 years since we started working together" Quick Draw said. "You have proven that you are more than a costar, you are my best friend, and the love of my life. And while 50 years has aged the both of us, my love for you hasn't."
The cartoon girls aww.
"So now I ask you, Baba Louis," Quick Draw said. He gets on one knee. Everyone gasps, even the host. Quick Draw takes off his hat.
"Let's spend the next 50 years..." Quick Draw says. He pulls out a small box from his hat, opening it to reveal a diamond ring "...or the rest of our lives together"
Everyone cheers. Huckleberry wipes a tear from his eyes, Yogi blows his nose.
"Can they do this? It's the 80s and-" One of the camera crew said.
"Love is Love my dear" Snagglepuss said. "I still have a job after all"
Baba Looey frantically wipes the tears from his eyes.
"Oh Queeks Straw…" Baba Looey said through his sniffling and tears. "Of course I will. I want to spend the next 50 years of my life with you."
The two come together for a hug. The other toons run on stage to congratulate the newly engaged couple. The Orchestra began to play It's Been a Long Long Time by Kitty Kallen.
Quick Draw and Baba Looey pull apart from their hug.
"Congratulations you two," Fred Flintstone said.
"That was such a beautiful way of ending this special celebration" Doggie Daddy said. He looks at Augie. "See that son of mine? That's what true love is"
"You're right dear old dad" Augie said. "I hope Mr Quick Draw and Mr Baba Looey have a happy life together"
"Oh please tell me you're inviting us to the wedding" Snagglepuss said.
"Of course," Baba Looey said. "You are all my friends after all"
Everyone cheered again.
"Kiss me once and Kiss me twice and Kiss me once again" Baba Looey sang along.
"It's been a long long time" Quick Draw chimed in.
The rest of the gang began to chime in. The host began to speak as the characters sang.
"Well folks, this has been a wonderful celebration," the host said. "But the fun is just beginning. Here's to another 50 years of Funtastic Fun. Goodnight everyone"
