RINGGGGGG! RINGGGGGGGGGG!
Finn's eyes burst open. He had been having a wonderful dream when it was all ruined by the sound of his phone ringing.
He desperately wanted to go back to sleep, but it would not stop ringing.
Slowly he sat up on his bed and scratched his bare chest. He then reached over and grabbed his phone. It was an unknown number, but he could also see it was 3 in the morning.
He pressed the answer button and held the phone to his ear.
"Helloooooo?" he asked with a loud yawn.
"Hello?" said a voice on the other end. "Is this Finn Whitman? Leader of the Kingdom Keepers?"
The boy was indeed Finn Whitman, leader of the Kingdom Keepers.
The Kingdom Keepers were a group of kids who once fought against a great evil that threatened the world originating from Disney World.
The kids had fought against actual Disney villains who called themselves the Overtakers, like Maleficent, Chernabog, the Evil Queen and more. But that was years ago.
The Overtakers were done for now. They were all gone. And now everyone was in college and looking forward to the future.
"Yessssss," Finn said with another yawn. "Who wants to know?"
"I'm sorry to be calling you this late Mr. Whitman," said the man on the other end. "My name is Howard Pittman, and I am the owner and creator of a brand-new Disney-like themed park. And I am calling because I need the help of the Kingdom Keepers."
"Us?" Finn asked. "Why?"
"Because you guys are actual real-life heroes with magic like skills and abilities," said Howard. "And there is something going on in my park that I believe may be a threat to the entire world."
"Wait...seriously!?" Finn gasped now much more awake.
"My park is like Disney, but it's much more than that," said Howard. "It's a completely virtual world park called Gametopia. And it all has to do with everything video game themed. And I think there is a glitch in the system. I believe the villains in my park have somehow gone either rogue or have become self-aware, as has a bunch of heroes. And I believe they are plotting something bad. I need the help of people who have fought evil like this. I need the Kingdom Keepers."
"Whoa..." gasped Finn. "This is a lot to take in."
"I should let you know I have spoken to all the other Keepers first," said Howard. "They are all on board with me. I need you all here ASAP. And when I saw that I mean by tomorrow. If you are in then I shall have car come pick you and your girlfriend up from your college in an hour or so. It will take you to the airport where my own son will be waiting for you to explain everything."
"Wait where is this park?" asked Finn. "Where are you located?"
"Arizona!" exclaimed Howard. "Are you in?"
Finn was speechless for a second. But he knew that if someone or something involved something magic like this and talked about evil, it was serious.
"I guess we are on board," he said.
"Thank you Mr. Whitman," said Howard. "I look forward to meeting you soon."
He then hung up and Finn was left listening to a dial tone.
"Finn...?" asked a weak voice.
Finn turned around and stared into the face of his half-asleep girlfriend, Amanda Lockhart. She was one of the seven Kingdom Keepers, and she was also a Fairlie, which was an individual with special powers.
She had telekinesis, and her sister Jess, another member and Fairlie, had foresight.
"Uh...Amanda..." Finn said stammering. "Get up and get dressed. We're leaving for Arizona in an hour."
"Wait what!?" gasped Amanda.
"Apparently the world is threatened by an evil rising in another Disney-like park, video game themed," said Finn. "And so, we are on our way to help."
Amanda at first thought Finn was joking, which is why she pulled the blankets over her and went practically back to sleep.
Finn snorted and literally ripped the blanket off their bed. Amanda almost screamed, as she was only in her bra and panties.
"Finn I'm practically naked!" she yelled.
"Amanda I'm not joking!" he yelled. "We are literally leaving for Arizona in an hour."
Amanda looked at Finn and could tell by the look in his eyes he was not joking.
"Oh my god you're serious," she gasped.
"Damn right I am babe," he said.
An hour later Finn and Amanda were packed with their essentials, dressed for travel, and heading out of their campus house they both lived in.
They left notes for their housemates to tell their professors they would be gone for an unknown amount of time, but knew they would understand because, well, they were the freaking Kingdom Keepers.
Standing outside was of course a car waiting just for them. The put their luggage in the truck and headed off towards Florida airport.
Finn just stared out the window looking at the dark starry night. He suddenly felt Amanda rest on his shoulder.
She was still dead tired and practically immediately fell right asleep on him.
Finn smiled and kissed her forehead and just thought about this sudden mission and what it could truly be.
After about a twenty-minute drive they reached the airport and were driven to a special VIP area where private planes took off.
And sure, enough there was a private plane waiting for them. As were all the other Kingdom Keepers, all who went to different colleges in Florida.
Yet all heroes of Disney World and Disneyland.
There was Dell Philby the nerd, Terry Maybeck the playboy and macho man, Charlene Turner the acrobat, Willa Angelo the Virtuous one, and Jess Lockhart the fortune teller.
And with them was a boy around everyone's age with black hair and quite a handsome figure and face.
Finn and Amanda stepped out of the car. Amanda needed some help at first, for she was still half-asleep and resting on Finn who was helping her walk.
"Hello lovebirds," said Maybeck. "Quite a morning eh?"
"How come you guys were called first before us?" asked Finn.
"We all lived farther away from the airport," said Charlene. "Just be glad half of us go to the same colleges."
"I could never be separated from my beloved Philby," said Willa.
Amanda made a loud snoring sound and then yawned loudly opening her eyes fully.
"Uh...sis...hi..." she said staring at her sister.
"Hello sleepyhead," Jess rolling her eyes.
"Okay everyone is here?" asked the boy.
"Yes," said Finn.
"My name is Spencer Pittman," he said. "My father called all of you. We need your help. We believe an evil is coming to life in Gametopia and only you can stop it."
"Tell us everything we need to know," said Finn.
"On the plane ride," said Spencer. "Let's go!"
Everyone got on the plane and after 10 minutes, once their luggage was on, the plane was off and headed for Arizona.
Once it was safe for everyone to move about the plane, Spencer stood up to start talking.
"Okay Kingdom Keepers," he said. "Let me first start off by saying, sorry I can't help myself but, I'M LIKE YOUR NUMBER ONE FAN!"
"Well...uh...appreciated," said Finn.
"Seriously I am!" Spencer said. "But moving on what we are bringing you here for is serious."
"Gametopia and a possible threat to the world," said Willa.
"You mentioned the park was like a virtual world?" asked Philby. "What do you mean?"
"Well let me first off start by saying that my father used to work for Disney," said Spencer. "As did his partner, Marcus Decker. They both were helpers with the DHI program actually."
"Whoa seriously?" asked Maybeck.
"Yes," said Spencer. "But Disney had to fire them unfortunately due to budget cuts caused by damage that the Overtakers inflicted to the parks. They had to use money to pay for repairs."
"Oh I'm sorry," said Finn.
"Don't be," said Spencer. "They used their knowledge with the DHI program and used it to spend basically five years creating what is now Gametopia, the World of Video Games. The world's first and only virtual amusement park."
"And it is all video game themed?" asked Jess.
Spencer nodded.
"I'm not a gamer," said Charlene.
"So what do you mean by virtual amusement park?" asked Philby. "You can't honestly be telling me that the whole park is like a real-life virtual reality."
"It's not," said Spencer. "It's a virtual world."
"What?" asked Amanda.
"See basically the park itself, is nothing more than a simple building," said Spencer pressing a button on a remote. The lights on the plane dimmed and the TVs turned on to show what looked like nothing more than a building with the name, Gametopia on it.
"But when you enter the building, and then go through this portal like scanner entrance, like the booths when entering security in an airport," said Spencer. "Then basically we used similar DHI technology to transport your entire soul into like a holographic form that is not inside a virtual amusement park."
"Are you serious!?" gasped Philby. "That can't be possible!"
"Well it is," said Spencer. "We used DHI technology, and even a hint of magic given to us from Disney and made our dream park real."
"But I don't understand this whole virtual world still," said Finn.
"Think of it like this," said Spencer. "Have all of you seen the movie Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets?"
"Actually yes," said Willa. "We all saw in theaters for Philby's birthday years back. It was his choice."
"Do you remember when they bascially entered an alternate dimension the Planet Kirian?" asked Spencer.
"Uh yeah!" said Jess. "So you're saying it's just like that?"
"Yes," said Spencer. "But unlike the movie where you're still fully intact with your human body, it's more of a Sword Art Online Ordinal Scale like basis where your body is broken apart and your soul is transferred into a holographic virtual form that is now within a virtual world projected like a video game layer on top of reality. And that reality is an amusement park video game themed and film with real life video game characters that act like DHIs almost. Both heroes and villains."
"And your father thinks something is wrong with the villains and heroes?" asked Maybeck.
"We don't think we know," said Spencer. "The villains have basically broken their program and have disappeared into different places around the park. It started with them and we believe they have become self-aware and are plotting something. After that the heroes started breaking their code, but we think they're trying to stop the villains. But all we know is there is some glitch or virus within Gametopia that could be a threat to the world. If the villains truly are becoming self-aware, they could be possibly plotting a way to leave the park and escape into the real world."
"And then we would have villains like Bowser, Dr. Eggman, or King K. Rool roaming the world?" asked Finn.
"Worse," said Spencer. "Try Ganondorf."
"Oh, that's bad," said Philby.
"And that's why we need your help," said Spencer. "This park was created with a tiny bit of help from Disney, and you guys are the heroes of Disney. We must find out what's going on and stop it from happening."
"Well we can assure you we will help," said Finn. "Right guys!"
Everyone screamed yeah.
"Good," said Spencer. "I suggest everyone rest up or relax. "It's going to be about six hours to Arizona."
Spencer went over and sat down in the seat next to Jess. Finn could slightly notice Jess eyeing him. Maybe finally should would get a boyfriend.
"Okay Amanda," Finn said. "Should we watch a movie?"
But Amanda did not reply. For when Finn looked over, she had already set her seat back and was fast asleep.
Finn smiled and leaned over and kissed her sleeping lips.
Not feeling tired right now, he put his headphones in his ears and selected a movie to watch, specifically Ready Player One.
"Might as well watch a video game movie if it's going to be a video game adventure," he said to himself.
He was right. A new adventure was about to begin.
