AN: This is a filler between where Jindrax pulls Toxica out of the mirror to when we next see them at their playground, hanging out and talking about their next move.
"Don't worry, Toxica, I'm reeling you in baby!" Jindrax said excitedly as he gave a mighty heave.
There she was, he couldn't believe it. His best friend was once again standing before him alive and well.
"TOXICA!" He exclaimed as he rushed to her.
"JINDRAX!" She echoed, meeting him half way.
He couldn't believe it, he'd done it, he'd actually DONE it!
"You saved me! I knew you could do it!" She shrieked happily as she took hold of his hands.
He tenderly caressed her cheek with his fingers, he couldn't help himself. He had to touch her, he had to make sure that this was really real and not some cruel illusion.
"Oh, Toxica... I missed you so much! Nothing was the same without you." He said, overwhelmed with joy and... something else he couldn't quite identify yet, he scooped her up into his arms and twirled her around.
So elated to be free from an eternity of suffering in the spirit world, Toxica cupped his face with her hand and pressed her lips to his cheek in a lingering, sensual kiss.
Surprised by her uncharacteristic display of tenderness, he pulled back to look at her and saw all he was feeling shining back at him in her beautiful dark eyes.
It dawned on him what that other feeling was.
It was love. Somehow, along the way in their three thousand years together, he had fallen in love with his dark, cunning and beautiful best friend.
Now... if only he could gather up the courage to tell her.
'One day...' he thought to himself.
Her expression suddenly melded into one of fear and concern
"We need to get out of the city."
He grinned at her.
"I know the PERFECT place. " he replied as he took hold of her hand and together, they disappeared.
They materialized at their favorite spot, the playground overlooking the city.
Toxica smiled at him.
"I should've known you'd bring us here.
He shrugged
"I like this place. "
"Yeah, me too." She said as she smiled at him.
His gaze however remained on the ground in front of him and his expression was uncharacteristically somber
She also was suddenly aware that he still held her arm in a tight embrace, his hand was interlaced with hers, as if he were afraid that she would slip away again if he let go.
"Hey, are you alright?" She asked.
"I was so scared, Toxica. I thought I lost you for good." He said, not meeting her eyes as he spoke.
"I know. " she said, her voice barely above a whisper as she unraveled her arm from his and sat down on one of the swings.
He joined her and they descended into a comfortable silence until Toxica finally broke it.
"When I was down in the spirit world, I had a lot of time to think about things." She said.
"Thank goodness, because when you were gone, I couldn't think of ANYTHING. " he said.
"Hey, you figured out how to bring me back!" She said as she offered him a playful smile.
He halted his swinging.
"Yeah... I guess I did!" He said as he grinned at her.
She chuckled and shook her head endearingly at him.
A serious expression suddenly crossed her beautiful face.
"You and I need to start looking out for ourselves!"
She stood and grabbed her staff.
"I think it's time for a change!" She said as she marched off with conviction.
Jindrax leapt off his swing and chased after her.
"Hey ... wait ...! Don't change without me!"
