Disclaimer: Hawks and any other original My Hero Academia Character belong to Kohei Horikoshi. Jiyeon, Somin, and Hanabi belong to me.
Summary: Jiyeon Park is transferred from Korea to Japan to help the heroes keep in check and also catch the villains in the country. She is not prepared for life in Japan at all but thanks to some helpful and nice colleagues, later close friends and best friends, she learns how things are done there. She also falls for the no.2 Hero and this makes her work even harder.
Author's Note: I will be using some abbreviations for some names, like LOV for League of Villains and HPCS for Hero Public Safety Commission. The story will be mainly focusing on Jiyeon and her struggles with her feelings and work. There will be some lineups with the anime/manga in some chapters, of course.
Day 1. The new hero
Hawks was not a big fan of being the welcome committee for some exchange hero he never heard of. All he knew was that it was a winged girl with blue hair and white wings. That wasn't even enough information to identify her in the crowd, not to mention he didn't even get her hero name. How would he be able to find her without the essential information of the girl?
" A photo of her would've been nice. But hey, who needs it? I am the mighty Hawks; of course, I can find a stranger in a damn airport by just knowing her hair color and that she has white wings." he mumbled to himself. While he was caught in his thoughts, an announcement was made:" Flight number 143207 from South Korea to National Airport Tokyo landed at gate 10." This woke him up faster than the smell of KFC chicken wings he was eating every morning. " That's her flight." he flew to the gate to see if he was right or not. He was hoping that there was only one female with blue hair and white wings on that plane.
"Now, now, calm down, hero. She is just a transferred hero from Korea to Fatgums agency." he tried to keep a calm, relaxed posture. Still, he was actually excited to have a new winged hero around. Not to mention it's a she. They could get along if he was acting relaxed around her and not like a goofy idiot.
On the plane, on the other hand, the Korean hero couldn't be more anxious and scared. She was changing places, leaving her parents and friends behind, not to mention she has to work with the Japanese heroes that were popular even in Korea.
"God, please help me... Why did I even agreed to this?" she whispered to herself while the plane landed. "Well, it's too late to fly home now... might as well enjoy my stay here, while I'm at it." she busted her own confidence with a big smile on her face.
It didn't take much for her to touch the Japanese grounds. The plane was half empty, so she didn't have to wait much until she could go down. She was stopped by some kids that loved her wings, and she took photos with them. She loved kids; she loved them so much. Maybe one day she'll have one of hers... but not now. Not when there is so much wrong in the world. Jiyeon then stopped to take her luggage and then headed towards the Arrivals to meet her guide. She announced HPSC that she arrived and asked who she should meet. No answer yet.
"How am I supposed to find the person who is escorting me when I have no idea how he or she looks like?" she asked herself, but at the same time, she received a message. 'Red wings and blonde hair. Hard to miss.' And that was it. That's all it was written.
"Are you seriously... Really? Did they just...? That's all!?" she looked at the display of the phone for a few long seconds. "Great! They just made this day even better. Let's find a damn winged hero with red wings and blonde hair. How hard can it be?" she said sarcastically. She was totally lost. How can he find that hero with such little information?
A loud sigh left her mouth, and she started looking around for that person. There were so many people there, but none had red wings, even though a few of them had blonde hair. She went closer to the exit; there was a huge crowd there. Maybe some star or idol came to the airport to leave somewhere. It wasn't unusual for them to do so.
She stopped in motion when she noticed the red wings. There were only girls screaming for a photo and an autograph with the so-called Hawks. He's the one waiting for her? But he was surrounded by fans... literally.
"Uhm, excuse me, can I...?" she asked, but all she got as an answer was an annoyed look from a few girls. "Fine, fine, have your moment..."
She didn't notice the two golden eyes that were already watching her. That was just Hawks' luckiest day so far. He didn't have to find the new winged hero. She found him. "Excuse me, ladies, but she is a colleague, and we have to go." he passed through the ocean of fans to grab the new girl's hand. "Hey there, you must be the transferred hero. I'm Hawks. They send me to take you to your apartment." he smiled widely and bowed a little.
Jiyeon stopped in her motion and turned her head to face the man. "Yes, that would be me. Nice to meet you. My name is Il-sun." she replied, smiling softly back. He was informed not to share her real name with any of the heroes she meets when she's staying in Japan for security purposes. "Shall we get going? Before the girls decide to pin you to the ground again." she laughed and pointed him to look back. They were waiting for him like he was some kind of prey.
Without a word, the blonde man snitched her luggage and flew with it in the sky. After a short sigh, Jiyeon followed him. But damn, he was fast.
"Hey! Slow down! I'm not as fast as you are." she yelled after him, to announce him he might lose her. That did slow him down a bit, enough for her to reach him. "You fly really fast."
"That's kind of my thing. I'm known as the fastest hero in Japan." she smirked at her, but she wasn't that impressed.
"Oh... that's quite useful, actually. You can escape from dangerous situations faster that other heroes."
"Not just that, I can help the others faster."
An awkward silence occurred between the two birds. They couldn't find another topic to talk about, and it turned out to be really uncomfortable in the end.
"So... are they just for flying?" Il-sun asked after a few minutes of silence. They could at least get to know their quirks better, right?
"No. I can use the feathers to cut, carry or block. The only problem is that if I lose too many feathers, I cannot fly anymore." the man explained. "But they grow back in a few hours, so it's not such a big deal."
"Stil.. you're out for a few hours..." he accentuated the whole issue, in her opinion. "I can create either shields or cages using the wind from my wings. I can manipulate the air currents created by the wing's motion to create transparent yellow walls." the woman explained her power as well. "I'm labeled as The Shielding Hero in Korea." she continued after a few seconds.
"The Shielding Hero: Il-sun. Really nice name. I am The Winged Hero: Hawks." he replied, smiling at her, which made her smile too. "Oh, we arrived at your new home. They really picked a nice one, didn't they?" he showed her the building she'll live into.
Since Il-sun was assigned to Fatgum's agency, she had to live in Esuha City just to be close by. Her apartment was in a new building, with 6 levels and a store on the ground floor.
"Yes, it's pretty nice. Do you happen to know the apartment number by any chance? I kind of need to be at the agency in about 20 minutes..." the female told him, looking at the phone to see the time.
"Nope, that it's something I do not know, but we can ask the receptionist if he knows. I'm sure he does." Hawks entered the building first, and everyone turned over to him. "Hello. Does anyone happen to have the keys for her apartment?" he asked and let the others see Jiyeon from behind her wings.
A tall man came before them and offered the key to the female, welcoming her with a kind smile. She returned the smile and tried to get her luggage from Hawks.
"Give it back, please."
"Let me take those upstairs for you, and then I'm out. Promise." he grinned at her in the gummiest way possible.
Il-sun rolled her eyes and chuckled. "Fine." she started walking towards the stairs. Her new home was on the first floor. Not many stairs to climb, so she wouldn't bother to get the elevator for just one level. Of course, her winged companion followed her on the stairs until he opened the door so that he could leave the luggage inside the apartment.
"Well, I'll take my leave now, Il-sun. Hope we'll see each other soon." Hawks smiled at her one last time.
"Sure. Thank you for bringing me here, Hawks." she smiled back and bowed a little. Soon after that, the door closed, and the other hero was gone. "Such a playboy, but he's nice." the hero concluded and smiled to herself. "Maybe it won't be that bad, after all."
