Saved by the Moon
Chapter One: The beginning
Disclaimer: JK Rowling owns the characters and most of the plot! I just tweaked it a bit ;)
"Albus, are you sure we should leave him here with the muggles?" Minerva asks softly. Albus, Minerva, and Hagrid were all standing on the porch of a brick house in Surrey. Number 4 Privet Drive was a house much like its neighbors. The lawn was freshly mowed and the garden weed-free. The porch light was on and the living room window was well lit.
"He will be protected here," Albus replies softly. Hagrid sniffs loudly from behind the two professors.
"I don' like it, professor Dumbledore sir. It don' seem righ'," Hagrid stares at the young boy. How could he leave the poor boy there with them muggles? He deserved to live in the world of magic. To be in a home much like the one he'd had with his parents.
"Petunia is his only living relative and Sirius..." Albus trails off at the mention of Sirius Black. He was a prized student. He was once seen as a symbol of the light taking over the dark and now Albus didn't know what to think of the man.
"What about the Longbottoms? They were fairly close with the Potters and they have a son, Neville, who is only a day older," Minerva was grasping at straws. She was very fond of James and Lily and wanted to do something for their son.
"The Longbottoms, I'm afraid would not be able to handle two young boys and their jobs as Aurors," Albus had been fiddling with a letter he had written to the Dursely's. He leans over and places it on top of the blanket that covered young Harry Potter.
"We could get Remus to do it," Hagrid says before Dumbledor can knock on the door, "He was best friends with both James and Lily. Surely he would do a better job of raising 'arry."
Albus pulls his hand back from the door and sighs. He was getting old. The stress that left having Voldemort gone was quickly replaced by the stress of needing to find Harry a new home and a guardian.
"To give Remus guardianship of Harry is almost impossible. Not only because persuading the Wizengamot would be most difficult, but because Remus does not trust himself," Albus turns to his two companions and almost wishes they would ask to take guardianship themselves. Albus had done his research on the Dursely's and was not impressed with their reactions to magic.
"We might at as well ask Remus. Right?" Minerva asks.
"What if Remus does want to be Harry's guardian, but is denied by the Wizengmot. Should I give the man hope and have it taken from him again. Remus just lost his three best friends, four once Sirius is put in Azkaban," Albus wishes once again that Minerva and Hagrid would just offer themselves as guardians.
"We should at least ask Remus. Let's take Harry back to Hogwarts where Poppy can get him a bottle. We'll invite Remus to the Castle tomorrow," Minerva picks Harry up and starts to leave. Albus was a wise Wizard, but he was also a man with many responsibilities. A man with as many responsibilities as Albus found a solution that would get him to the next problem and Minerva would not leave Harry with the Dursleys just because they were a solution to a problem with multiple answers.
"We must head back to the castle then. I'm sure Fawkes won't mind finding Remus for us tomorrow morning. I can assume you'll take care of the boy till tomorrow Minerva?" Minerva nods her head at Albus before saying goodbye to Hagrid and disapparating to the front gates of Hogwarts. (A/N I know apparating with a baby isn't a good idea, but it's not like there's a floo around and I like Minerva taking charge.)
The next morning at breakfast every student in the great hall stole glances at Professor McGonagall. The stern professor was known to not have grandchildren. The gossip mill was most peculiar. The gossip ranged from Professor McGonagall and Professor Dumbledor having an affair of sorts to someone leaving the baby to McGonagall. The last wasn't necessarily far off.
Dumbledor rises and the students go quiet. Everyone wanted to know who the baby was and who's baby it was.
"I'm sure you are all filled with curiosity this morning. I'm sure you have all been celebrating the fall of Voldemort and have been most grateful for the sacrifice of James and Lily Potter," the Great Hall was so silent a pin could be heard if dropped, "The rumors of their only son Harry Potter surviving the Avada Kedavra curse is true and so is the rumor of the curse rebounding and hitting Voldemort. The Boy Who Lived as they are calling him in the papers, is here in this room," all eyes turn to the child who was standing on Minervas lap. Eyes bright and happy to see so many people.
Nobody knows who cheered first but the cheering was so great that classes were canceled for the day. The times were still dark, but the amount of light in that room was blinding.
When breakfast was over and the students had all left, Minerva met with Albus in the headmaster's office.
"Has Remus been notified?" Minerva asks. She sets Harry on the ground where he watches all of Albus's silver instruments whiz and whistle.
"Fawkes has been sent to Remus and has yet to come back. I am sure Remus is just trying to pull himself together. His best friends either died or were sent to Azkaban. I must also warn you that the ministry is demanding to know what we are doing for Harry. I have told them that arrangements are being made. The ministry of course is very busy and has asked that we know who his guardian by the end of tomorrow. I'm sure if Remus accepts guardianship there will be a trial held to see if he is fit enough."
Albus asks a house-elf to fetch him and Minerva some tea and biscuits while they watch over Harry. Albus watches closely to the boy as he stands and tries to touch a silver balance globe. Not having any toys for a child around his office he stands to find something that could be replaced without costing him several galleons or precious memories. Smiling when he sees a set of quidditch balls he grabs a golden snitch casts a quick spell that makes it hover and move side to side more than fly and sets the snitch in front of Harry.
Minerva was sure they sat for hours sipping tea watching Harry play with the snitch. When Fawkes arrives with a note attached Albus moves to un-attach the note but stops when he hears a small gasp from his companion. He spins to see Harry with the snitch partially in his mouth.
"The boy will be a fine quidditch player if he flies anywhere near as good as his father," Minerva whispers. Albus silently agrees with her. The snitch wasn't supposed to be caught by the boy it was given to simply distract him. Albus returns to his earlier task and removes the note from Fawkes' leg.
I'll stop by around lunch.
"Remus will be joining us around lunchtime. How long before Harry needs to eat again?" Albus asks curiously. Albus was used to young children just not as young as poor Harry.
"He could probably make it another hour before he needs to eat again, of course, he'll start to fuss if he wants food earlier," They continue to watch Harry play with the snitch. Harry quickly learns to make the snitch fly again. After his fifth time catching the snitch he drops it with disinterest. Harry gets up and walks to Minerva where he exclaims, "Up."
Minerva picks the boy up and plays patty cake with him. The old Wizard and Witch play with Harry while they wait for Remus to arrive.
Instead of fussing for food as Minerva had said, Harry surprised the two companions by levitating a biscuit to himself. He happily munched on the biscuit and when he was finished he pointed to the snitch and made grabbing gestures.
"Do you want the snitch again?" Minerva asks setting Harry on the ground. Harry walks to the snitch happily yelling, "Snish!" All the way to the golden ball.
"I hope Remus accepts guardianship of Harry, I'd at least get to see Harry on the full moon. The sweet boy deserves better than the Dursleys," Minervas eyes mist over and she blinks quickly trying to dispel them. The sweet boy deserved his parents. She had taken care of him for less than twenty-four hours and already knew he was a smart and sweet boy.
A knock at the headmaster's door has Minerva standing and picking up Harry.
"Come in," Albus calls.
"You wanted to see me, Headmaster?" Remus asks quietly. When Remus sees Harry the tears he had been trying to keep at bay while he walked the castle grounds fell.
"Unca Emus!" Harry says from Minerva's arms. Harry lifts his arms to Remus.
Remus grabs Harry, "Hey there cub," Remus' voice is choked up and tears continue their steady track downward.
"Sad?" Harry asks. His little hands touch Remus' face and Remus can't hold back a small sob.
"Of course not cub! I'm so happy to see you," Remus gives the boy a small smile and can't help but kiss the crown of his head.
"I'm sure you're happy to see Harry and I hate to ask this of you so soon, but we don't have time on our side," Albus folds his hands together on his desk and tries to look poised. He ignores Remus' and Minerva's tears and continues, "Harry was to be placed at the Dursleys, but Hagrid's quick thinking brought us to realize you should be given the opportunity to take guardianship of young Harry."
Remus is shaking his head as soon as he hears the words guardianship. "Albus I'm a werewolf! I can't be Harry's guardian! How would I take care of him?" Remus who had sat down stood up quickly. The sudden movement made Harry start to cry and Remus gestures to him in a way that said, see even the kid agrees with me.
Remus hands Harry to Minerva so he can pace without worrying about hurting Harry. Along with his pacing, he rants, " I'm a werewolf I'd be gone and extremely dangerous around the full moon, I can't keep a job so I couldn't provide for him, hell I don't know the first thing about caring for a baby full time," Remus looks at Dumbledore and suddenly he feels like a student again.
"Remus you are a very responsible adult and help is always given to those who need it at Hogwarts," Remus sits back down. He feels completely overwhelmed.
"But Dumbledore, he needs a father figure in his life a mother figure too," Remus looks at Dumbledore pleadingly.
"His only other option is the Dursleys, Remus, I can't offer you any help until you agree to be Harry's guardian. I'll admit that it's a lot of extra work for me to help you become Harry's guardian, but it'll also be one of my greatest joys."
"After Sirius' trial, he can take Harry. He is the kid's godfather. As soon as the ministry gives him his trial," Remus continues to mumble to himself.
"Remus," Dumbledore says softly, "Sirius was sent straight to Azkaban."
Remus stares at Dumbledore before casting his eyes to the sky and whimper, "Why? Why me? Why Harry? Why?" More tears fall from Remus' eyes and they fall faster as he sobs.
Albus gives himself and Remus time to calm down before he tries to convince him one last time to take Harry.
"Lily wouldn't want Harry to go to her sister. James would pick you a thousand times before he chooses Petunia and it's not just because you and James were best mates, it's because you are a responsible, loving, and hard-working man. If you become Harry's guardian it won't be easy, but you will have everyone at Hogwarts support. If you don't take Harry I'll be forced to take him to his only living relative's. Take a second to think Remus."
The three adults sit there silently. Harry makes the only noise in the room. Remus stares at Harry and contemplates. He goes over the pros and cons of becoming Harry's guardian and he goes over the pros and cons of telling Dumbledore no.
Finally, after more than 10 minutes of silent contemplation, Remus lets out a long sigh and says, "I have no idea how I'm going to do this."
Minerva and Albus smile and as if feeling the older witches and wizards' happiness Harry smiles and laughs happily.
"Now that you've accepted I demand you ask me for help. I have already made arrangements, but couldn't truly start putting them in motion until you said yes," Dumbledore has a twinkle in his eye and a beaming smile on his face.
"I really need your help Professor," Remus says slumping into his chair.
"Perfect. The ministry will no doubt hold a trial because you are a werewolf and will undoubtedly say all sorts of things to undermine you. Of course, you won't have to worry about the job aspect seeing as how our Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor just retired and I'm asking you to do the job. Of course, that handles living arrangements for both you and Harry. Plus I didn't mention the Wolfsbane potion that will be prepared for you every month here at Hogwarts," Dumbledore smiles knowingly at both Remus and Minerva.
"You couldn't have told me all of this when I was making my decision?" Remus asks. If he wasn't overwhelmed before, he was overwhelmed now.
"You needed to make that decision without any help. You wouldn't be a fit guardian if you weren't willing to do everything you could for the boy. You saying yes without knowing all the help you would get shows your true character. I'm honored to know you, Remus," Dumbledore's praise lifts Remus' spirit slightly.
"I'm going to owl the Minister of Magic and tell him you've accepted to be the guardian. You can expect the trial to be by the end of the week. I doubt they would schedule it at a further date. The wizarding world might be free from Voldemort but the world is still in disarray and things need to get done!" Albus takes a quill and starts scribbling away at a piece of parchment.
Remus takes Harry from Minerva and is about to take his leave when he stops, "I just wanted to say thank you for your help, Professor McGonagall. I also was wondering if the library had any books on taking care of children?" Remus looks at Minerva nervously.
"It was no problem, Remus. I'll walk you down to the library and help you find a couple of books to help you out. I also must ask you to call me Minerva when there aren't students around," Minerva takes the lead and guides, Remus, to the library where she gives him a couple of books.
"Dumbledor or I will contact you when and where the meeting is. If things get hard or you just need a moment to breathe, you can always stop by my classroom. My door is always open to you Remus."
Remus smiles at the usually stern professor, "Thank you Profe- Minerva."
Remus walks away from the castle with mixed feelings. He watches Harry as he throws the snitch to the ground. Remus is about to grab his wand to summon it back for him, but Harry summons the snitch to him, himself.
"You're going to be a powerful wizard Harry," Remus whispers.
The two, journey to the front gates, the future unknown, and the present so unexpected.
"Unca Emus! Unca Emus!" Harry runs around giggling, with a bottle of opened ink in his hands.
"What have you got there Harry?" Remus comes to the living room of his parents' old house and sees Harry running around with a bottle of ink. A month ago Remus would have laughed and told Lily her son was a marauder in the making. Remus would have laughed at the mess of ink on their floor, but now it was just him. The truth of it slams into his chest and he can't laugh.
"Come on Harry. Put the ink down Harry. Where's that snitch gotten to?" Remus runs around trying to catch Harry. Finally scooping the boy up he takes the now half-empty bottle of ink and sets it on the living room table. Remus looks for the snitch and can't find it.
"Mum?" Harry asks. Remus looks at the boy's wide questioning eyes and frowns. Harry had been asking for his parents since they got to the house yesterday. He usually just shook his head and said sorry Harry. With needles in his heart, Remus sits on the couch and puts Harry on his lap so he's facing him. He somehow needed to explain to Harry that they were gone.
"Your Mum and Dad are gone, Harry," Remus says quietly.
"Back?" Harry asks.
"They can't come back. I'm so sorry," Remus's eyes fill with tears, and is angry at himself for not being able to hold them in. Harry, not understanding grabs Remus's face and exclaims, "Back!"
"No, Harry, they can't come back," Harry starts to wail, and Remus can't take it anymore. He should never have accepted the guardianship of Harry.
Remus stands and with the wailing boy still in his arms, floos to Dumbledore's office. With Dumbledore nowhere in sight Remus starts the trek to Minerva's classroom.
Once there he knocks on the door to announce his presence before walking in. Minerva was in the middle of teaching but upon seeing Remus's tear-stained cheek and the wailing boy she stops teaching.
"Give the boy here Remus. Go wait for Dumbledore in his office. The password hasn't changed," Minerva takes the still wailing boy from Remus and watches Remus leave.
Minerva turns back to her class of sixth years and speaks, "The student who can transfigure their desk into the best crib will be awarded 10 points for their house. Go," in a flurry of movement students are out of their chairs and concentrating on their desks.
Minerva walks the classroom, bouncing the boy in her arms, "You are all old enough to detail the cribs so stop giving me basic stuff! Impress me students or there will be an essay on how to add detail when you transfigure."
Remus sits in the chair across from the headmaster's and waits. When the headmaster does walk-in it's with a small spring in his step.
"Ah, Remus! Just the person I wanted to see. The ministry has just informed me that your trial is tomorrow at noon! You'll legally be Harry's guardian by two, tomorrow," Dumbledore's smile fades when he sees the state Remus is in.
"Where's Harry?" Dumbledore asks immediately. Albus did not know much about young spirits such as Harry, but he knew not to leave them alone.
"He's with Minerva," Remus sighs.
"Oh good. I hope young Harry will bring out Minerva's maternal instinct and bring her some joy. Yes, most women love babies," Albus's smile returns and he looks at Remus expectantly.
"I can't do this headmaster. Harry is so much like James and I see Lily every time I look into his eyes," Remus feels like a student confessing his wrongdoings.
"You can and you will Remus. Harry will thrive under your guiding hand. You will not be James or Lily. You will not raise Harry as James and Lily would have, but no one but them would have been able to. I can say for a fact that you will be a better parent to Harry than Petunia could ever be," Albus Dumbledore's words cut Remus like a knife. He had to think of Harry.
"Once the trial is over and you are Harry's legal guardian I suspect you will have a hard year. Many people will be missing from your life, but I suspect you will thrive."
"Thank you, headmaster," Remus rubs his eyes tiredly and Dumbledore laughs.
"You must call me Albus when not in the presence of students. Now I suspect Minerva's students all want to hold Harry, so we must go save him or I fear he might get smothered."
The ministry was as busy as a hive of bees. Everyone was hustling and bustling trying to get lunch before their lunch hour ended. Remus tugs on his dress robes and tries to find Albus who was supposed to meet him in the atrium of the ministry. He gets bumped and hit from every direction. He curses under his breath when someone hits Harry while trying to slide by Remus.
"Ah, Remus I'm glad you're early. The minister has told me that we are to be in the courtrooms at our earliest convenience," Before Remus could reply to Albus, the old wizard had turned and started walking.
The journey to the courtrooms was filled with nervous energy. Remus didn't feel qualified but knew that if the ministry saw that he wouldn't be given any time of day. He needed to look confident and hopeful. Albus's nervous energy was the fact he was using the school to back Remus's whole case. If they took away Remus being a teacher their case wouldn't have a chance.
"You ready to turn on some Potter charm and look like you love me?" Remus asks Harry, only half-serious.
Harry giggles into Remus's shoulder and wipes his drool on Remus's robes.
"I'm going to take that as a yes," Remus mumbles. The two men step into a large courtroom, Albus taking the lead. Albus's presence seems to demand acknowledgment. Every witch and wizard turns to him. Albus makes a gesture with his hand indicating he wants Remus to come out into the open.
Remus takes a deep breath before walking to the middle of the room. He holds Harry tightly and walks with practiced confidence. The members of the Wizengamot a number close to fifty all look at Remus with curious eyes. Remus refused to look away from their eyes, meeting as many of them as he could. He only stopped when he felt Harry turn his face into his shoulder once again.
"Scary," Harry says with a slight tremble.
"They're not so scary when you look at them for the second time Lil' cub," Remus shifts Harry so he's forced to look at the Wizengamot again.
"They only look scary because they're wearing the same thing. Do you see their purple-colored robes?" Harry nods his head, "They also have the letter M in silver on their left side. Do you see it, Harry?" Harry nods his head again.
The Wizengamot watches the exchange quietly. Some of the witches are already nodding their heads. It wasn't hard to see that the two had a history even the beginnings of a special bond. Others had a difficult time hiding their disgust. They thought the boy shouldn't be near a werewolf.
The minister stands and speaks confidently, "As Minister of Magic, I will be leading this case seeing as The Cheif Warlock Albus Wulfric Percival Brian Dumbledore is acting as Mr. Lupins Lawyer. We are here today to determine whether Mr. Remus John Lupin is fit to step in as Harry James Potter's guardian. Albus if you will start us off," The Minister, Millicent Bagnold, sat down eyeing Albus carefully.
"Remus John Lupin should be made guardian to Harry James Potter as he was a very close friend to James and Lily Potter. After Sirius was taken to Azkaban and with him his godfather duties the only relative Harry had left was his Aunt Petunia who has publicly announced her dislike of magic and the wizarding world as a whole. Seeing her as unfit for The Boy Who Lived I turned to Remus," Albus paces while he speaks. His voice is loud and piercing. His posture straight and his hands folded behind his back.
"I'm sure it will be easier if you all ask your questions about his qualifications instead of me listing them. Minister?" Albus's pacing ceases and he leaves to stand by Remus's side. His show of support not being unnoticed.
The Minister nods his head and stands again, "You may ask questions now," he turns to the members of the Wizengamot and nods his head to a man with a thick mustache.
"I hate to point out the obvious, but Mr. Lupin is a werewolf and as such is a danger to the child," his statement brings a murmur to the courtroom which is quickly silenced by the minister's hand.
"The wolfsbane potion will be distributed to Remus monthly. While Remus is otherwise distracted, Harry will be taken by Miss Poppy Pomfrey, Hogwarts's school nurse," Albus says.
Other hands are raised and the Minister points to a woman with short curly hair.
"Mr. Lupins records currently state that he is unemployed and without a home," the woman finishes with a small scoff, obviously finding Remus improper.
"By September of next year, Remus will be made the Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor and will be given quarters to live in."
More hands are raised and another is picked, "What are you planning on doing with the boy while you work? You can't possibly have a child in a classroom where spells are flying around and monsters are brought."
"I'm glad you brought this up Mr. Lightens, Remus will be teaching the students with Harry in the classroom but Harry will be in a, warded area of the classroom. There have also been arrangements made to where Harry will be taken by Miss Pomfrey or Professor McGonagall if the lesson seems unfit for young bodies. I have Remus's official Newt scores here which I will let you all see," Albus pulls out his wand and duplicated the scroll in his hand before levitating them to each person in the room, "He received an Outstanding in all of his studies besides Astronomy and History of Magic," Albus lets everyone look over Remus's scores and Remus lets out a small sigh of relief. If there was one thing Remus was, it was smart.
There were mumblings of, "Impressive," and, "What has this to do with anything?"
Slowly hands raise again and the Minister picks another person, "While you have a job lined up for your future, you still do not have one now."
Albus nods his head to Remus, indicating that he should speak, "I work odd jobs here and there, but when my best friends were killed by You Know Who they left me a small sum of money that I will use this year and the next, until I start as a Professor," Harry who had been thankfully silent was beginning to get restless in his arms. Albus, sensing Harry's restlessness, pulls out a sherbert lemon candy. He quickly unwraps it and gives it to Harry. Harry quickly puts the treat in his mouth. His face twists for a second before he seems to get used to the sour flavor.
While Harry was receiving the candy another question was asked, "Do you see yourself as a fit guardian for Harry, Mr. Lupin?"
Remus thinks his answer over carefully, "No," the eyes of everyone in the courtroom widen, "I'm a smart man who is constantly under prejudice from others. I am a dangerous creature during the full moon. I am grieving the loss of four best friends and I don't have or plan on having a wife," his eyes fill with tears at the mention of his friends, but he presses on, "But I will finish grieving, I will make Harry my number one priority and teach him not only about magic and the world around him but about his parents. I will love him and cherish our time together. So do I see myself as a fit guardian for Harry right now? No, but will I be a fit guardian within a couple of months? Yes, I will," Remus defiantly looks at the Wizengamot.
When they had first started the trial he was worried they would ask a question such as the one they just did, but when they asked the question he felt peace. If there was an afterlife, Remus suspected Lily and James were smiling at him from above.
The members of the Wizengamot briefly talk amongst themselves before everyone seems to have come to a decision.
The minister rises once more and with a loud voice says, "A vote needs to be cast. All opposed of Mr. Remus John Lupin gaining custody of one Harry James Potter raise your hand," What seems to be half of the Wizengamot raise their hands, "All in favor of Mr. Remus John Lupin gaining custody raise your hand," again about half of the Wizengamot raise their hands.
Remus had tried to count the hands in the air but he wasn't even sure of the number of members in the first place. He watches the Minister nod his head to the High Inquisitor to his right before loudly exclaiming, "Remus John Lupin we hereby grant your wish of being Harry James Potter's guardian. If you will fill out all the necessary forms immediately after my secretary will lead you to the offices necessary. Trial Adjourned."
Remus laughs and throws Harry in the air in pure excitement. He'd been so scared. Remus would have felt like a disappointment to Lily and James if he wasn't made the guardian.
Harry giggles happily. Remus sets him on the floor and instantly starts to run around on wobbly legs.
Remus shakes Albus Dumbledore's hand enthusiastically and is surprised when he's pulled into a tight embrace.
"You will do them proud."
September came quickly for Harry and Remus. The previous 10 months went by quickly and smoothly. Harry and Remus had done everything together. Harry had started calling him Moony when Remus had first started telling him Muarader stories before Harry went to bed, making Remus smile. Harry had also started asking for Sirius but Remus had always said he was away. Until one night, in June, after a thrilling story about Sirius, Remus had explained Sirius's imprisonment. At first, Harry didn't understand and Remus didn't expect him to, but he also shared his theories about Sirius being innocent. Harry still not understanding had just said, "He'll come home," which made Remus smile.
On the nights of the full moon, Harry went to the Castle and enjoyed playing with Minerva and Poppy. Hagrid would always go into the hospital wing and tell Harry stories of monsters and magical creatures before he took his naps. When he was awake Minerva took would talk about transfiguration in a way a child could understand. She would have her students transfigure items and let Harry choose his favorite and then award the person house points.
They had celebrated Harry's second birthday at the Castle where just the day before Remus had officially moved. They had a party in the Great Hall where all the professors attended, each bringing gifts. All but Severus Snape who had started teaching the year before in 1981. Harry got all sorts of sweets and even a hovering broomstick to replace the one he had before the accident.
When school letters were sent to students and they were warned that the new D.A.D.A Professor was a werewolf there was a small outcry among parents. At the end of the letter, it was revealed that he had successfully been a student at Hogwarts for seven years without hurting anyone plus he was entrusted with the guardianship of Harry Potter. It also explained that the fact was already known by the Ministry and they were trusting of Professor Lupin.
When classes started up Remus was an instant hit with the students, especially the female students. Of course, it wasn't just his looks that the girls liked but his incredibly adorable sidekick Harry. Gone was any fear they might have had, for Professor Lupin was a total softy with a penchant to blush.
On the days where they would do something more dangerous or something scarier than a two-year-old could handle, Minerva would take him. Harry had instantly taken to Bill Weasley who was a first-year. Harry liked to tug at his red hair seemingly fascinated with the color. He was always willing to play with Harry if Minerva needed a hand always saying, "I have six younger siblings I don't mind pretending to have a seventh. Even if he has black hair."
Harry was treated like Royalty among the students. Every student was slightly in awe of the boy who had defeated the Dark Lord. He was the most popular kid at Hogwarts and even at the mere age of two, Harry had a fan club and a presence in the Hogwarts gossip.
