My shoulder is dead.

It feels all wonky.

Did I sleep on it wrong?

I need to piss.

Ring. Ring.

What the fuck is that?

"...Hinami. Are you up?" Shoto Todoroki's voice was heard from Hinami's phone, making her sigh.

"Maa~ I am now. Why did you wake me up at 5 in the morning, Sho-tan?" She asked, annoyed at him for asking that question like he didn't just wake her up on purpose.

"I figured we could get a training session in before school. It should only take an hour then you have 45 minutes to get ready and eat some food before you need to leave," He suggested.

"That makes sense. Gimme 15 minutes and I'll meet you in the training room but I'm gonna have to shower at your place," Hinami sighed, yanking the blanket off her body.

"Alright and bring your staff. I wanna spar today," He said and ended the call.

"Fucking Todoroki bastard," Hinami grumbled whilst rummaging around her room for her training clothes and uniform. "making me wake up early and-" She tripped over a little package lying in the 'organised' mess of her room. Shino-oba likes to make fun of her for calling it that but it is what it is. Her lil organised mess is organised as she knows that there are 3 tubes of lip-gloss on the floor under her bookshelf because she accidentally knocked them off the shelf when she was looking for her uniform the other day. Yeah, she knows that getting ready for school last minute is like bad form or whatever, but she had bigger things to worry about.

Hinami grabs her glasses from her bookshelf, careful not to knock anything else off, a tube of lipgloss, and a sports duffel bag which doubles as a school bag. She ponders for a moment before snatching up the package and shoving it into the bag with her bo-staff before heading down the stairs. She glanced at her bathroom door and sighed. She still needed to piss but she figured knocking Shoto on his ass took priority. Taking the ultra-blue monster from her fridge, she yawns, laces up her rollerskates and heads off.

Hinami was only doing this because she knew this was Shoto's way of saying he was nervous. He wasn't good with emotions or people, so the first day of school always freaked him out. Not to mention, he hadn't been to an actual school in over two years, so he hadn't interacted with anybody besides the people in his house and her in a while.

After about 20 minutes of sparring, Hinami had her Shoto pinned on his back for the second time that morning.

"Nice job, Sho-tan~. You're improving, that was harder than usual. I had to try a little this time," She teased, offering her hand to him.

"I still haven't beat you. It upsets me," He mumbled as he grabbed the outstretched hand and stood up.

"Maa~ You still got a little way to go before you can take me down without using our quirks. But there will be a day when you finally can, especially with the training we will be receiving at UA. So, I need a shower I smell like shit, we have about 30 minutes before we need to leave. Fuyumi-nee probably already has our breakfast ready for when we're done," She said as she pushed him out of the door.

"You're right. Let's get going," He nodded as they went upstairs to get changed.

Hinami was not happy with the uniforms. Now Hinami didn't dislike skirts, nothing wrong with them. What she did have a problem with was how impractical they were for school purposes. I mean come on; she's going to be running around hero school flashing her panties to everyone. But UA didn't give her much of a choice in attire, so she was stuck wearing one. She just put on a pair of black sheer tights to make sure she covered her underwear.

Once they were both ready, they rushed to the nearest train station almost missing the 8:00 train that would take them to Masutafu.

They hurried to class, running a little late. When they walked in, they were met with a class full of some interesting-looking people.

They were both stuck behind this kid with fluffy green hair. It reminded Hinami of broccoli. He stopped in the middle of the class and he looked scared at the sight in front of him.

Hinami just ignored him, walking around his frozen body, and took her seat at the open desk 12, one of four seats left. She looked over and saw Shoto do the same and go sit in the seat at the back of the class.

"Take your feet off of that desk now!" A voice scolded.

Hinami slowly trailed her eyes to the left, looking at the interaction with fixed curiosity.

"Huh?" A kid with ash-blonde hair responded, not even bothering to face the kid that was yelling at him. He just looked at him through the side of his eyes, keeping his head facing forward.

"It's the first day and you're already disrespecting this academy by scuffing school property, you cretin,".

Hinami could tell that the other kid with glasses was a little uptight, even his movements were stiff. The up and down chopping motion of his arm as he spoke easily resembling a robot of some kind.

"You're kidding me, right? Your old school put a stick up your ass? Or were you born with it?" The blonde scoffed, his smirk growing larger with the look of disbelief that slowly morphed its way onto the Engine Legs' face.

His demeanor exuded confidence. It was obvious that he believed he was the best person in the room. Hinami could only chuckle to herself. Bruising egos was her specialty, so she was excited to weed out opportunities where she could do just that to him.

"Uh- let's start over. I'm Tenya Iida from the Somei Private Academy." Iida said to the blonde in an attempt to make amends.

"Somei, huh? So you must think you're better than me. I'm gonna have fun tearin' you a new one," Blondie smirked.

Yeah, he was definitely gonna give Hinami some excitement.

"You would threaten me? Your own classmate? Are you sure you're in the right place?" Iida asked.

"Ha!" blondie tsked at Iida. It was comical to him that Iida even asked that question. Was he in the right place? Of course, he was.

Then they both abruptly stopped and stared ahead with shocked faces. Hinami followed their gaze and saw that they were both staring at the green-haired kid from earlier who was still frozen in the same spot.

Iida walked over to the frozen kid, trying desperately to introduce himself but the kid stopped him, claiming to already know who he was. The green-haired boy introduced himself as Izuku Midoriya. Iida said something about their practical exam, but Hinami didn't recognize their faces so she concluded that they must have been a part of the general applicants.

A sweet-looking girl came in soon after and began to thank Midoriya for saving her during the exam. Hinami was lost at this point, so she just turned her attention to looking around the room. The class was full at this point, so she could get a good look at everyone there.

She looked back over to the blonde kid and he was glaring in the direction of Midoriya. He looked like he wanted to strangle him. It was obvious that the blonde was an asshole, but his glare was almost murderous, which simply intrigued Hinami. She wanted to know what the situation between them was, especially since Midoriya seemed more nervous than angry to see the blonde who was obviously not happy to see him.

Hinami then heard a familiar voice, but she couldn't see who was talking because of the trio still lingering in the doorway.

"If you're just here to make friends then you can pack up your stuff now." The voice started. "Welcome to U.A.'s hero course. It took 8 seconds before you all shut up, that's not gonna work. Time is precious. Rational students would understand that,".

Everyone was shocked at his harshness. But Hinami recognized him as Erasurehead 'friend' of her Shino-oba and the teacher that interviewed her for the recommendation exam.

"Hello. I'm Shota Aizawa. Your teacher. Right, let's get to it. Put these on and head outside," Mr. Aizawa greeted as he pushed a bag of uniforms at them.

They were all incredibly confused at this point but did what he said. They grabbed their labeled uniforms, quickly changed in the designated locker rooms, and met their teacher outside.

"What? A Quirk assessment test?" They all shouted in unison once Aizawa explained to them what their purpose in being out there was.

"But what about orientation? We're gonna miss it," The girl who was talking to Midoriya earlier questioned.

"If you really wanna make the big leagues, you can waste time on pointless ceremonies. Here at U.A. were not tethered to traditions. That means I get to run my class however I see fit. You've been taking standardized tests for most of your lives. But never got to use your quirks in physical exams before. The country's still trying to pretend we're all created equal by not letting those with the most power excel. It's not rational. One day, the Ministry of Education will learn," Mr. Aizawa responded, irritation leaking out of his dry tone in droves. "Bakugo, you managed to get the most points on the entrance exam,".

Hinami now knew the blonde's name. She was also a little impressed by his stats, based on the brief portion of the conversation she heard between Midoriya, Iida, and Uraraka, Hinami knew the exam wasn't that easy.

"What was your farthest distance throw with a softball when you were in Junior High?" Mr. Aizawa asked Bakugou.

"67 meters, I think," Bakugou answered.

"Right. Try doing it with your quirk," Mr. Aizawa instructed as he tossed Bakugou a softball.

Everyone was curious to see what his quirk was.

"Anything goes, just stay in the circle." Mr. Aizawa noted. "Go on. You're wasting our time," He urged as he walked off.

"Alright man, you asked for it," Bakugou bragged as he stretched a little. "Die!" He screamed as he threw thesoftball with the addition of his quirk.

He looked to have some sort of an explosion quirk. It definitely fit him, though the name 'Bakugou' should've said it all.

"All of you need to know your maximum capabilities. It's the most rational way of figuring out your potential as a pro hero." Mr. Aizawa explained.

At the same time, he held up his phone and showed how far Bakugou's throw went. It traveled 705.2 meters, with the addition of his quirk he was able to increase the distance of his throw by tenfold. It was animpressive improvement.

Some of the other students started to get excited about using their quirks for the first time.

"So this looks fun, huh? You have three years to become a hero. Do you think it's all gonna be games and playtime? Idiots. Today you'll compete in eight physical tests to gauge your potential. Whoever comes in last has none, and will be expelled immediately," Mr. Aizawa stated.

They all looked at him like he was insane. He was threatening to expel them if they didn't do good on an impromptu test. He was intense.

"Like I said, I get to decide how this class runs. Understand? If that's a problem, you can go home right now." He continued with a smile on his face.

The man was insane and harsh like no other, but Hinami appreciated it. It was a challenge, one that she was going to excel at. She just wondered how the rest of her classmates were gonna do. They were just standing there in shock like they had no idea how to react in the face of such a challenge.

"You can't send us home! I mean we just got here! Even if it wasn't the first day, that isn't fair!" Ochaco objected.

"Oh, and natural disasters are? Or power-hungry villains? Hm? Or catastrophic accidents that wipe out whole cities? No, the whole world is full of unfairness. It's a hero's job to try to combat that unfairness. If you wanna be a pro, you're gonna have to push yourself to the brink. For the next three years, U.A. will throw one terrible hardship after another at you. So go beyond Plus-Ultra style. Show me it's no mistake that you're here," Mr. Aizawa pointed out.

Hinami could admit that he had a point, life wasn't easy so they need to be prepared for the worst.

"Now then. We're just wasting time talking. Let the games begin," Mr. Aizawa finished.

The first test was a 50-meter dash. The task was simple, use your quirk strategically, and complete the 50-meter dash as fast as possible. Hinami stood off to the side, watching everyone so she could learn what their quirks were.

Iida and a cute frog-like girl went first, and Iida won. He had jet engines in his calves that helped him move at extremely fast speeds. The other one, Asui, was as Hinami thought, frog-like.

Uraraka and a kid with a tail named Ojiro went next. Then it was the pink girl and a very… sparkly guy. It looked like his quirk was some sort of sparkly laser that shot out of his stomach.

Next up was Bakugou and Midoriya, Bakugou used his exploding quirk to cross the finish line in 4.13 seconds but Midoriya didn't seem like he used his quirk at all. And if he did it didn't do a whole lot to help him. It took him 7 seconds to complete the test. It wasn't really evident what his quirk was.

"My power has more uses than anyone in this school," Hinami heard Bakugou mumble to himself as he found his spot on the side of the track. She then watched him look over at Midoriya, scoffing at the nervous boy and calling him pathetic.

With that last statement from him, she figured it was time that she made her existence known to him.

"Maa~ I think you're the pathetic one," She drawled out loud, though it was directed toward Bakugou.

"What did you just say to me, you damn extra?" Bakugou growled as he turned to face Hinami.

He was taken back that someone had the audacity to say that to him.

"You heard me, you have to be some level of pathetic to be so gullible and believe that your quirk is the best. You haven't even seen half of us in action," Hinami repeated as if she was talking to a child, her eyebrow quirked into an arch as she looked at him. The longer she looked at him with a nice condescending smiles, the more difficult it became for him to mask his irritation with her.

"That's because I don't need to, I know I'm the best outta everyone here," He gloated as he pointed to himself.

"Maa~ We'll see about that blondie. You seem like you need an ego check," Hinami sighed lazily as she walked to her starting position.

It was her turn to do the 50-meter dash, she was up against a guy with 6 arms. He was definitely different compared to the others, but she was curious about how exactly his quirk worked. It obviously revolved around his multiple arms.

They both got into position and the gunshot went off, queuing their start. Hinami immediately fire up her water and used it to shoot herself across the track. When she crossed the finish line, the robot said her time was 3.48 seconds, soon after she heard it go off again and announce her opponent's time as 5.32 seconds.

Hinami looked over at Bakugou and winked. He looked both shocked and pissed off and she loved every moment of it.

They were instructed to complete a few more tests to assess the range of their quirks and give Mr. Aizawa a decent idea of how they applied them.

Then they were back to the ball throw. Uraraka's ball went to infinity, which Hinami thought was pretty cool. Her quirk allowed her to make anything zero gravity.

Next was Midoriya, Hinami was kinda worried about him. He had yet to use his quirk and he was falling behind and fast. She hoped that this would redeem him and they could finally see what his quirk was.

He stood there for a second, seeming to be contemplating what exactly he needed to do. He took a deep breath and contorted his body in the correct position to throw the ball. As he twisted his body back to the front, his arm lit up in a very odd way, which caused everyone to hold their breath in anticipation, and then he released and the ball dropped almost instantaneously.

It was odd as if his quirk had disappeared at the last second.

"I erased your quirk," Aizawa said to Midoriya, "The judges for this exam were not rational enough. Someone like you should never be allowed to enroll at this school,".

"Wait, you did what to my... those goggles, I know you! You can look at someone and cancel out their powers. The Eraser hero, EraserHead!" Midoriya shouted as he finally recognized his teacher now that he had seen his quirk in action. Just as he did he was wrapped up into Aizawa's scarf that he wore around his neck and dragged to be face to face with the grumpy man.

As Hinami watched their interaction, attempting to understand what Aizawa was saying to Midoriya, she sensed someone behind her. When she turned around, she saw All Might creeping around the corner. Hinami always thought that man was so odd and never made any sense to her, but she just ignored his presence. It was obvious that he didn't want to be noticed, for whatever reason.

"I've returned your impractical quirk. Take your final throw. Hurry and get it over with," Mr. Aizawa sighed as he walked back to the side of the field, his bored face matching his bored tone.

Midoriya took a second and formulated some sort of idea on how to impress Mr. Aizawa. Just like the first time he took a deep breath before contorting his body for momentum and then pitched the ball.

It seemed normal at first, but at the very last second, his finger lit up and the ball went flying. His finger was broken but his pitch was impressive. It definitely was about the same distance as Bakugou's.

"He threw it over 700 meters!" Kaminari was amazed at his sudden power.

"Nice, He's finally showing us his true power!" Uraraka exclaimed.

"But his finger appears to be broken now," Iida pointed out.

"It wasn't a very pretty throw," Sparkle laser critiqued.

Bakugou just looked shocked. The look on his face was priceless.

"Hey!" He screamed as he ran at full speed toward Midoriya, "Deku, you bastard! Tell me how you did that, or you're dead!".

He got snatched by Aizawa's scarf right before he reached Midoriya.

"Maa~ he's got a hot head, no wonder his quirk is explosion based," Hinami snickered out loud, the redhead behind her chuckled a little, nodding in non-verbal agreement.

"What- why the hell is your scarf so damn strong?" Bakugou questioned as he struggled to get free.

"Because it's a capture weapon made out of carbon fiber and a special metal alloy. Stand down. It'd be wise to avoid making me use my Quirk so much. It gives me a serious dry eye," Mr. Aizawa explained.

"Too bad. That power is amazing." The entire class commented.

"You're wasting my time. Whoever is next can step up," Mr. Aizawa mumbled as he walked back to his spot.

Next up was Hinami, as she walked to the plate she passed Bakugou and smirked, "Watch how it's really done, blondie,". She just couldn't help herself.

Aizawa turned his phone around. 800.3 meters. Once again, she looked directly at Bakugou and winked, which only pissed him off more.

Bakugou didn't know who this girl was, but he knew she annoyed the absolute shit out of him.

"All right time to give you your results. I've ranked you all from best to worst. You should probably have a good idea of your standing already," Mr. Aizawa announced.

Hinami figured she was somewhere in the top 5 but wasn't sure where.

"I'll just pull up the whole list. It's not worth going over each individual's score." Mr. Aizawa continued.

He pulled up the list and there was her name, Hinami Izumi, sitting in the number two spot. First was Momo, Hinami recognized her from the recommendation exam. Her quirk was Creation, she could create anything at will. In third was Shoto, and fourth place went to Katsuki Bakugou.

Hinami wasn't shocked, it was obvious that he was talented, but she would be rubbing it in his face that she beat him.

"And I was lying, no one's going home," Aizawa said out of nowhere, "That was just a rational deception to make sure you gave it your all in the tests."

Everyone just stared at him in disbelief.

"How's it feel to be in fourth place, blondie?" Hinami asked Bakugou as she walked up to him.

"What did you just say to me?" Bakugou growled in response. The smirk on her face pissed him off more than ever thought it could.

"Maa~ ya' need your ears checked or something?" She questioned, rolling her eyes at his lame attempt to intimidate her.

"Shut up. I'll blow your ass to pieces!" Bakugou shouted back at her.

"I'd like to see you try, blondie. I bet you can't land one hit on me," She grinned. He was a bigger fool than she thought if he really believed that he could take her on.

"Watch me!" He roared, his hand slightly crackling with miniature explosions.

"Wow guys, calm down," The red-head from earlier, Kirishima chided.

He didn't know why, but he knew that he had to stop the two in front of him. It was something about how neither of their eyes held a hint of hesitation that, quite frankly, frightened him. They would most likely fight full-force for as long as they were allowed to if he didn't attempt to intervene.

"Shut up, extra!" Bakugou glared, as he sided-eyed the boy.

"Well, that's not a very manly thing to say, plus she's a girl. You can't hit her," Kirishima tried to reason.

"Oh no please don't hold back for lil old me," Hinami said with a closed eyed Cheshire grin.

"You asked for it!" Bakugou shouted.

"Hinami, stop it!" Shoto shouted as he tried to calm the situation down, knowing exactly how this would turn out.

But before either one of them could get one hit in, Aizawa had them both in his scarf and was pulling them off to his office.
