Steve drops to his knees, his ears ringing. God how he wished he didn't know what those words mean, that Tony never told him. Wished that he could be blissfully ignorant at this moment.
Tears blur his vision and his hands shake. Clint is kneeling in front of him, shouting at him… but he can't understand what the guy is saying.
His whole world has broken down to those two words repeating themselves in his head over and over again.

But he doesn't have time for this, so he picks himself up out of the rubble and fights.
