It had already been three days since Rean stopped coming to class. A certain ex-jaeger's curiosity was slowly getting the better of her. Her classmates also shared her curiosity and worry, but when they asked their instructor about it, the Purple Lightning told them to just let the swordsman get some rest. Sara may not be a role model instructor, but it was clear to Class VII that she deeply cares for her students. Telling the kids not to visit the Schwarzer; was too out of character, even for her.

When the black-haired swordsman first didn't show up to class, Class VII thought that he was just sick. All of them have tried visiting Rean, only for them to receive a false confirmation of being okay from behind the frame of his room. It upset them. They wanted to see and help their friend get better, but how can they do that when the very person they wanted to help refuses and shuts them away? They were understandably frustrated. If it weren't for Sara telling them that she will handle him, they would've probably bust his door down.

The night was brightened with a full moon, glistening along with the stars. The night air was cold, but tonight, it was rather eerie. As Fie Claussell strolled back to their dorm, she felt an uneasy feeling run down her spine. A feeling that something was happening to Rean. The howling of the winds added to the creepy factor, her unease increasing. As she opened the door to the building, the rest of her classmates were seated in the lounge. All of them adopted serious faces and despondent faces that made the ex-jaeger's usually stoic face frown.

Despite what looked like a meeting, none of them spoke a word. The suffocating silence was uncomfortable, far worse than any of them had ever experienced. The students knew what they wanted to talk about, but no one knew how to start the discussion. They were all thinking the same thing, though.

What was wrong with Rean?

It couldn't be normal sickness anymore. They would've noticed it in his voice if it were a cold or a coughing fit.

As each day passed, the adopted noble's voice slowly sounded more in pain and dry. It was like something was eating him up inside. However, Rean still refuses to let anyone besides the Instructor check up on him. Wait, now that they think about it, Sara always left the teen's room with a red packet in her hand. It did not look like it was anything bad, but the packet had a metallic scent of something familiar. That was suspicious and concerning.

"We need to figure out what's going on with Rean." Jusis was the first to break the uncomfortable silence that loomed over them as he narrowed his eyes at the table. His gaze moved towards the silver-haired sleeper, already having noticed her presence for a while. "Fie. I think I speak for all of us when I say that you are our best bet in finding out what's wrong with him."

"Huh? Why me?" The stoic maiden didn't know why they all assumed that.

"Well, out of everyone here minus the Instructor, you've spoken to Rean much longer compared to the rest of us whenever we try checking up on him," Elliot interjected to explain their reasoning. The others hummed in agreement as they all looked at Fie, expecting her to understand.

The ex-jaeger closed her eyes and pondered their words. Was she truly different than the rest of them? Sure, she got treated the same as the others whenever she tried asking if Rean was okay, but as she delved deeper into her memories of the past few days, Fie did notice that her conversations with Rean were far longer than the rest of her classmates. It was as if he was going out of his way to chat with her, despite whatever he was feeling.

"Mhm. You're the only one Rean has talked to for more than five minutes." Well, Fie understood why Alisa pointed that out. She and the others could barely talk to the swordsman for more than five, while the silver-haired girl could talk to him for at least fifteen minutes or so before Rean would tell them off with an 'I'll be fine' response. "He can be so stubborn sometimes..."

"Ahaha... I cannot disagree with that. We can't help Rean if he refuses our help..." Emma smiled sadly. If the adopted noble only opened his doors for her, she might be able to heal him with her magic. The bookworm didn't really care if she exposed herself by healing him; she just wanted to help her friend.

"Yes. It's... frustrating if I were, to be honest." Even the Arseid couldn't help but sigh. Rean is really causing problems for all of them, huh?

After a few minutes of contemplating her decision, Fie sighed to herself before nodding. Rean always looked out for her; it was time for her to return the favor. She will get to the bottom of whatever he is hiding, even if it means busting out the grenades to open his door.

Okay, maybe not that extreme, but she'll find a way in.

"Fine. I'll have to go speak to Sara first. She definitely knows something considering she's the only one Rean allows to enter his room to check up on him. I doubt they were doing anything scandalous since this is Rean we're talking about, and the fact that Sara's expression was completely blank each time she left his room." And the Purple Lightning would rarely show that kind of expression unless they were in a serious situation. "Didn't he tell you anything, Crow?"

The slacker shrugged, a sad smile accompanying his lips. "Nope. He's not even responding to my orbmails, tried annoying him by sending a bunch of random shit. Usually, he would respond just to tell me to stop sending him so many useless orbmails."

"Not even you, huh?" Machias fixed his glasses. He was in the same boat since he tried calling Rean through his ARCUS for the past two days, but the green-haired teen would always get sent to voicemail.

"If you guys just let me use Lammy, we could bust open his door!" Millium flung her arms up before crossing them, a pout on her face. The tension eased up because of her comical outburst as the kids laughed, except a certain blonde noble who facepalmed at her idea.

They don't know why, but Rean's door was harder to open compared to theirs. It was like something was preventing them from opening it; even Emma's magic failed to unlock it when she tried doing so one night. It was like they could only enter if Rean permits them, just like in Sara's case.

"Ignoring Millium's urge for destruction, we'll leave this matter to you, Fie." Getting back on topic, Jusis placed his trust in the ex-jaeger, receiving a nod from the girl. "I believe the Instructor had retired to her room before we arrived."

"Gotcha."

Fie began her ascent up the stairs as the sound of her footsteps echoed through the lounge. The rest of Class VII watched as her form disappeared as she walked upstairs, the sound of her footsteps fading. They hoped that Fie could get through to Rean and make him tell her what's happening to him. But...

Why were they feeling a sense of dread? The winds outside roared to life, howling as if a bad omen approached.

Gaius rested a hand on his chest, a solemn look on his person that was rare to see from the calm and peaceful Nord. The melody the winds played spelled trouble, the atmosphere of the room turning grim.

As Fie arrived on the second floor, the silver-haired girl saw her guardian leave her friend's room. And again, the pink-haired instructor held a red packet in her hand. The older female's gaze fell to her protégé; a sigh escaped her as Sara saw the look on Fie's face. The two didn't need to speak with words; the instructor knew what the ex-jaeger wanted to talk about. Gesturing the girl to follow her upstairs, Fie complied as they went up.

Fie glanced at Rean's room for a quick moment before walking up the stairs. Something was telling her to be quicker as the two females walked to the older one's room. Sara opened the door to her room as the girl went inside before the woman followed, closing and locking the frame as she sighed. From the way Sara sighed, it was obvious how exhausted she had been. It served to increase the silver-haired ex-jaeger's curiosity and worry. Silence almost loomed in the instructor's room but was prevented by the woman herself.

"You really want to know what's going on with Rean?"

"Kinda stupid to ask me that. We're all worried about him, Sara."

"Fie," Sara spoke in a firmer, stricter tone that caused the girl to straighten up because it caught her off guard. "I have no doubt Rean will let you enter his room, but..." She took a deep breath, closing her eyes as the woman contemplated if she really wanted to let Fie in on whatever was going on with Rean. "Are you prepared to find out the reason why Rean stopped coming to class and why he's been refusing to meet anyone except me? Will you still see him as the same boy who looked out for and befriended you?"

At her question, Fie was not able to answer right away. The older woman's tone suggested that Rean's 'condition' or 'situation' is far serious than she thought. The girl remembered her friends' words, how they told her that she was the only one the swordsman was willing to talk to for a longer period of time. His suffering made the heart of the usually stoic maiden ache in sadness and pain. Clenching her fists slightly, she took on a determined look filled with her resolve.

"Yeah, I am. He'll always still be Rean to me, no matter what."

Her answer and the resolve from her tone managed to make the weary instructor smile.

"All right then. I can't tell you the specifics; you have to ask Rean for those. I can tell you he starts craving... specific things when a full moon approaches." She explained, showing the empty red packet Sara was holding. "...This is one of them."

The packet's outer appearance didn't really give away what it actually was. Fie remembered that the packet had a scent of something similar to iron. The girl connected the dots as her eyes widened, but she couldn't confirm it fully. The girl walked over to her guardian as she took the object off the woman's hand. One sniff was all it took for her to figure it out.

"This is blood..."

"Correct. To be specific, it is animal blood." Sara clarified. "I think you got a clue as to what is happening to Rean now."

"B-But... aren't those... don't they only exist in stories and books?"

"There are many things in this world that are unexplainable, Fie." Sara has already experienced a lot of them; that's why it hurt the instructor's heart to see her own student suffering something that cannot be easily explained by anyone. "But if you believe in the slightest chance of those stories being true, do you still want to check up on him?"

Her grip tightened at the packet as she looked down...

It couldn't be that, right? But it would explain the packet of blood...

Even if it is true... it won't change how she views him!

"Take me to him."

Without saying anymore, Sara smiled gratefully as she led her protégé back to the second floor. The two stood in front of the swordsman's room, and Fie couldn't help but feel her stomach twist from the feeling she was getting from the other side of the wooden frame.

But she couldn't back down now. A light slap to each cheek managed to help quell the unease the girl was feeling. Sara looked at her student, making sure Fie was prepared. The young one stared back at her guardian as she gave a nod; her lime green eyes were burning with her resolve. The instructor found herself smiling; she'd never thought she would see the day the sleepy maiden would show this much concern over someone before.

"Rean," Sara called from their side of the door. No immediate response came; only sounds of uncomfortable grunting and groaning responded to her call. Fie glanced back at Sara, the busty woman unfazed by the sounds. The two waited for at least ten seconds before they heard Rean's raspy, tired voice that was different from something you can get from a cold.

"Instructor? What is it...?"

"Fie's here to check up on you. Alone."

"You know she—"

"I know, Rean, but Fie wants this. She showed me how serious she was in checking up on you... even after I told her about the packets ." Sara turned to her protégé, a smile on her face. "You'd even try to use explosives or find another way into his room if I didn't answer or if I gave vague responses, am I right?"

"Yup," Fie answered almost instantly, making the smile on Sara's face wider.

There was another moment of silence as the two gazed at the wooden door separating them from the Schwarzer. The deafening silence that emerged on the second floor was almost suffocating to an extent, the sound of their heartbeats and the roaring of the wind being their only source of noise. After what seemed like a minute or two, An unlocking noise finally came to life as the sound of locks being undone filled the silence that loomed over the duo.

"That's your cue, Fie."

"Yeah. I'll see what I can do to help him."

'You're the only one who can help him...'

Sara patted her protégé's head with that being her last thought as she went upstairs, silently wishing her luck. She wasn't sure why she thought that; call it woman's intuition, if you will. The silver-haired maiden grabbed the knob of the door, slowly turning it as she entered her friend's room.

What she saw caused her to back up the moment she got in. Crimson red orbs stared into her soul, the owner being the one and only— Rean Schwarzer.

The teenager had his blazer removed; his white shirt wasn't in the best of shape, crumpled and unkempt. It looked like he hadn't changed out of it for a few days now. His way of breathing showed that he endured some kind of pain moments ago, labored and tired. A creeping sensation of fear ran down her spine, but Fie steeled herself as she narrowed her eyes. Her expression softened as her orbs landed on his crimson optics. It was clear he was tired and hurting.

But it wasn't the only feature that caused her to inspect the swordsman thoroughly. The black-haired teen's mouth was agape, probably because he was having trouble breathing. If her eyes weren't playing tricks on her, the pair of fangs she saw was not a product of her imagination. They looked kind of like a...

"R-Rean...? Those fangs kinda look like a..."

"Vampire's? I know..." Rean finished Fie's sentence for her, knowing what she thought when she saw him.

Fie started to observe him up close, slowly making her towards her friend. Her guard was still up even if Rean did not attempt to make a move. She was still slightly in shock by his revelation. She thought he was just messing with her, but Sara's statement from earlier and the evidence in front of her quickly dismissed that notion. She noticed his ARCUS lying on his desk, completely turned off. That would explain why Crow and Machias couldn't contact him. Her gaze would return to meet her friend's eyes, a solemn expression on his countenance. Despite those fierce red eyes that contrasted his lilac ones, Fie could still see the gentle and kind Rean she knows and lo—

Her thought was interrupted by the boy himself, his tired and dry voice slipped out of his lips.

"Why are you guys so persistent in checking up on me? The Instructor already has that covered..."

"It's because we care, and we're worried about you, stupid. How do you think we feel when you keep refusing for us to check up or even see you?" Her question was met with silence as the red-eyed swordsman hung his head. Fie sighed; it didn't take a genius to figure out the regret he was feeling inside. The fear that she had earlier vanished as she sat beside Rean. "Have you always been a vampire?"

"I'm not exactly sure. I only ever fully become one when a full moon approaches. That's why I haven't gone to class the past few days." Rean said, sighing. His case made it sound like he would become an entirely different being that Fie had also heard about. Something like a wolfman, if she recalls correctly. "I take it you know about the packets of animal blood the Instructor has been giving me?"

"Yeah. Sara didn't say that you were a vampire, though. She just said that I'll have to ask you for the details." The girl answered as she stared at his door. There were various door locks built on Rean's door. Now, she understood why they were having trouble getting it. But the locks were a trivial matter compared to the other thing that caught the girl's eye. Occult-looking tags were glued to the swordsman's door that caused the uneasy feeling Fie felt earlier to return. "What are those?"

"Something to keep me from going crazy... and to keep myself from getting out and others from getting in when I start feeling bloodthirsty." The tags were given by one of their schoolmates at the request of both Rean and Sara. The occult specialist— Beryl, wasn't surprised when the two came to her for help, telling them that she saw a vision about the student and instructor coming to her for assistance. Whether what she said was credible or not, Rean couldn't deny the effectiveness of the tool she gave him.

The older teen's breathing started to become more labored as he clutched his chest. Fie was ready to check what was wrong but was stopped by Rean, holding a hand up in front of her.

"I'm... ha... fine."

"Idiot. You're clearly not." Narrowing her eyes, Fie started to rub his back. She doesn't know what was exactly wrong with him, but she bets it has something to do with him being a vampire. "Come on, Rean. Just tell me what's wrong."

The red-eyed swordsman gritted his teeth. She's being really stubborn tonight...

"...I need blood..."

"Didn't Sara give you some earlier?"

"N-No... I..." Rean glanced at the petite girl for a moment. The fear of seeing Fie be afraid of him was starting to grow. He was terrified to know how she would react if she found out what he desperately needed right now. "You... ha... ha... really want to know?"

"Of course, stupid! Just let me help you already!" Fie wasn't someone who easily lost her cool, but seeing Rean suffering was making her patience short. His constant refusal of their help upset her and only made her worry even more. "Please... we're friends, right?"

"...all right." The swordsman breathed heavily, his crimson gaze locked with her orbs as a hand continued to clutch his chest. Rean felt touched by the girl's concern for him, but that's exactly why he wanted to push her and everyone else away. Relenting, he sighed. "I need... human blood. Animal blood can only do so much to satisfy this hunger of mine."

So, that's why Rean was hesitant in telling the ex-jaeger. From Fie's perspective, she didn't really see why he was so afraid of telling her or their classmates about that. The others wouldn't even think twice in giving some of their life essences to the man. Just as long as he doesn't try to suck too much of their blood.

"Hang on. I'll ask the others to give you some. We'll gather a bit of our blood for ya." Though, it was more complicated than Fie thought.

"No... not just any human blood will work on me..."

"Huh? Don't vampires drink all types of blood?"

"I'm different... ha... ha... I need the blood..." Rean struggled to continue talking as he felt his insides burning up. His fangs extended along, with his eyes glowing red. Instincts were calling out to him.

His vampiric instincts.

Eyes darting towards the girl's neck... her delicious-looking neck. Rean leaned closer towards the stoic girl. His hunger called out to him like a whisper, trancing him to give in to his desire. She was the one after all. The only one Rean could rely on to eliminate the suffering he has been dealing with. As he approached to do the deed, he snapped out of it when the vampire heard the voice of the girl.

"Rean? You need the blood of what?" Fie pushed for clarification. She already took note of his fangs' size increasing, but she was still observing his behavior before she would take action.

The red-eyed teenager returned to his senses as he pulled away and rested his head against the wall.

"I need the blood... of the person I love. Once I drink some, I only need to wait until the full moon disappears in a few days from now for me to return to normal, but the person I bite becomes a vampire as well."

The blood of the person Rean loves? That could mean anything. Though, the definition Fie understood was the person he loved romantically. Her heart suddenly ached as the girl started to think about the identity of the person that Rean loves. The only person that could save him from the pain and hunger he couldn't escape from. Her lips curved downwards; it was impossible for her to hide it. Fie wanted to help him, but she wasn't needed. It was the other girls.

"I'll go get Alisa..." She was prepared to get up when a hand grabbed her arm. "Huh?"

"It's not her."

"Then who—"

"It's you. You're the person I love, Fie." Throwing away all forms of logic, Rean confessed.

Despite it looking like a confession, it was a way to distance himself from her. The boy doesn't know what she thinks of him, nor is he expecting his feelings to be reciprocated. Rean told her because he hoped she would be afraid and leave him alone so the vamp couldn't hurt her if he loses himself.

But Rean should have known better.

A surprised look plastered itself on her face, a blush joining the party as she stared at the male.

"H-Huh?"

"I just wanted to let you know that; you don't need to give me some of your blood. I can endure this for a few more days."

That was a lie, and both of them knew it. The last time this happened was a year ago and it did not turn out well. Rean had to isolate himself in Ymir's icy mountains to prevent him from going on a rampage, starving for human blood. His only source of recovery would not have worked at the time since he didn't have anyone to love in a romantic sense. The young vamp at the time refused to drink too much anime blood, despite his insatiable hunger. The reason why he kept himself from drinking too much animal blood; was because it would increase his desire to drink human blood.

The red-eyed teen let go of the girl's arm as he leaned back against the wall again. Closing his eyes, he allowed her to leave him be wordless.

It was better this way.

"You really are an idiot."

Rean's eyes snapped open to meet hers once more. Those beautiful lime green orbs that always drawn him to her captivated the red-eyed teenager. Sadness, pity, anger, and a tinge of happiness were mixed in those hues of hers. Rean wanted to look away, guilt squeezing his heart, but he couldn't find it in him to do that. He was so entranced by her optics that he failed to notice Fie taking off her bow and blazer.

"That's all the more reason why I can't leave you to suffer." Her blush refused to die down as she sat back on his bed, snapping Rean out of his charmed state. Fie stretched her neck out slightly to let Rean see more of her neck. "If I can help you, then help yourself to my blood then."

"F-Fie! D-Don't...!" Rean protested as a sharp pain pierced his chest, clutching it tightly.

She was willing to become a vampire for him? Ridiculous. No one wants to give up their humanity, especially not for someone like him. Rean thought that, yet here she was, willing to sacrifice her human side just so his thirst could be quenched. Her exposed neck was making every cell in the vampire's body scream at him to bite her, his fangs already extended to do the job. Rean was barely stable, and it showed, his red eyes glowing on and off while he kept shifting forward and backward.

"I-Idiot... get out of here. I can't resist if you show me your neck!"

"Then don't fight it," Fie said, a soft and gentle voice replacing her usual deadpan tone. "I told you, Rean. I can't leave you to suffer. If you can get better by drinking my blood, then becoming a vampire like you is a small price to pay."

"Why would you—"

Fie knew what he was going to ask; she cut him off before he could even finish his stupid question. "It's because I feel the same way. You're the boy that I love, and I would do anything to help you get better." She finished with red hues on her cheeks.

Eyes widening, Rean froze as her statement caused him to gain some control over his vampiric instincts. The swordsman blushed; that was the answer he least expected from her. The girl he loves... loves him back. The black-haired teen looked down to avoid eye contact from her, embarrassed and speechless.

A sigh, Fie expected that. The girl smiled as she interlaced their fingers together.

"You always carry your burdens by yourself, even though all of our friends are willing to carry some of it for you." She squeezed his warm hand, looking straight at his crimson orbs. "They can't do that right now. So, I'm the best you got. Please, Rean."

He was unsure how to respond. But he found himself questioning her...

"Are you sure you don't mind becoming a vampire?" Without even thinking twice, Fie answered instantly.

"Yup. Someone's gotta watch over your hunger when you start getting bloodthirsty."

Her immediate response surprised him, a smile finally gracing his lips as Rean raised his head for her. The sight of his smile eased Fie slightly as she returned to exposing her neck. Deep breaths were taken as his fangs extended even more. A wordless 'thank you' was given as Rean gently sunk his fangs deep into Fie's neck. She grunted and groaned; it was a pain she had never felt before. It was sharp, and it ached, but there was a speck of pleasure mixed in. Fie could feel her blood being drained out of her; she could tell Rean was holding himself back from drinking a lot. Still a considerate guy, even as a vampire.

Her grunts and groans soon turned to soft moans. Fie felt something being injected inside her; it made her feel hot and dizzy. As Rean kept drinking her blood, his vampiric senses reawakened. The human blood he consumed triggered the instincts he held back for so long. The red-eyed vampire started to see Fie as his mate, a hand roaming through her toned legs. Letting out a yelp, her face flushed as she gave a slight glare to Rean. Despite him getting touchy, Fie didn't show any form of resistance. On the contrary, she was pretty open to his touch.

Rean pulled back his fangs, leaving an obvious bite mark on her neck. The girl panted; the same labored breathing he displayed came to her person. The male could already see signs of her transformation. Her mouth was slightly agape, showing off her small fangs. Since he knows she won't be as bloodthirsty as him, carrying her back to her room where she can rest was not seen as a problem. As Rean was about to carry her back, Fie stopped him as she gave a pleading look.

"W-What? More of what?"

"Touch... bite..." Fie pulled him back down with her newfound strength, their faces only a few reges apart. Her other hand cupped his cheek; a smirk crossed her face. "I gave you some blood; now I want you."

"W-Wait! Let's talk about this!"

Unfortunately for Rean, he didn't have a choice in the matter. The moment she made him bite her again, primal instincts took over both of them. Moans and grunts echoed the entire room as they started biting and feeling each other up. Both eyes glowed bright red; they were lost in their own world. Did they care if someone heard the scandalous sounds they were making? Nope, not one bit. The dorm now had two vampires, not that the rest of their classmates would know about that. It was their little secret.

Until Sara coincidentally went down when she heard their... passionate noises. Oh, the smugness of her smirk that night was practically oozing. She was sure as hell to tease the two, knowing that Rean would be feeling better tomorrow.

Notes: I am so sorry for writing such a bad vampire AU which probably isn't even accurate

Consider this a crackfic if you will and I apologize that I didn't show the more... steamy stuff~. I will make it up to you all with another coming soon! Possibly if I don't get distracted in making more VanEla fics. If FF does put the Kuro characters on their list that is...
