dream1990 asked for this one. :) Here you go, Amigo! :) Enjoy! :)
Hilda (the television series) belongs to its respective owners. I only own Maga (Italian for mage), Destina (play on the word 'Destino', which means destiny is both Spanish and Italian), and Déjà.
A/N: Please be gentle in the reviews as this is my first Hilda story and I'm not very well versed in the series, so I'm simply going by what I've researched and my imagination.
Holding Together With Family
Chapter 1: Surprise Visit
"I don't like this," a young woman said. She stood up straighter as she gazed at her companion.
"Do you think I feel differently?" Her companion asked, standing up too.
The first young woman had the appearance of a fifteen-year-old girl with wavy hair that was pure white, but looked natural. Her skin was pale, but that also looked natural. Her eyes were the lightest blue that anyone had ever seen for eye color. Her clothing was all white, including her long cape with a hood.
Her companion was vastly different, one could say the complete opposite. Her skin was the darkest brown known and her hair was black and straight. Her eyes were the same shade of dark brown as her skin, though very few saw her skin due to the black ninja garb she wore. She too had the appearance of a fifteen-year-old girl.
The white-haired girl sighed. "If the signs are true...," she began.
"Then the time has come," her companion finished with a nod. "The child is safe for now, but the enemy will arrive today."
"Then we must be ready to move," said the other. "We may need to find a safer place for the child."
The dark-skinned girl bit her lip, but nodded. "Normally I'd disagree, but the situation is dire," she said. "Who can we trust?"
"Only ourselves," said the white-haired girl. "But...,"
She waved a hand and a window appeared before them both. A girl with blue hair was playing with an animal that looked like a fox with antlers. A dark-haired woman was watching them with a smile and beside her on the arm of the chair was a small elf. "An elf? But humans cannot see them without an agreement between humans and elves."
"That's what caught my attention too, but she can see him and has apparently formed a close bond with him as she's done with her pet."
They continued to watch for a bit before the dark-skinned girl nodded. "I see why this family has caught your attention," she said. "An agreement with an elf, an unusual pet, and what the child does."
"It has just been the child and her mother for so long and I happened to overhear that the girl would like a sibling," said the white-haired girl. "It would be good for both her, her mother, and our charge."
The other girl was quiet before looking pensive. "It will make them a target though," she said.
"They already are targets with the blue-haired girl battling trolls and other evil creatures."
They were both quiet before the white-haired girl spoke up again. "I know the risks, but I know if they have faced the dangers thus far and succeeded, then I know our charge will be safe with them."
"You speak truth about the dangers they've faced," said the black-skinned girl. "But the dangers they will face if we do this will be much worse and will test them."
"Have faith that they will succeed," her companion said. "There is no other family we can depend upon. Believe me, I've been searching."
She nodded. "Very well," she said. "I'll get our charge ready, but...do you think she will be alright? This will be a big change for her too."
"Yes, but she will adapt well, especially if she is shown love," the white-haired girl said. "I will wait until you get her to them before I make my appearance."
The dark-haired girl smiled. "You and your dramatics," she said without heat before heading out. "Until we meet again."
"Until we meet again."
The white-haired girl looked back at the window she had created, smiling as she saw the blue-haired girl throw a ball for her deer fox, who chased it happily. "Hmm, that animal will sense her approach," she said before pulling out a wand and holding it high, closing her eyes.
The dark-haired girl felt the familiar feel of the other's magic and realized she had been cloaked so that she and the little girl in her arms could slip up to the house undetected. "Ah, thank you," she said softly. "I was wondering how to slip in."
The child in her arms looked at her worriedly. "Why are we here?" She asked.
"Don't worry, you'll be safe here," the ninja girl said. "The danger is coming and this family will protect you while myself and the mage hold back what's after you."
The child looked sad. "But...what if they don't love me?" She asked.
"They will," the black-haired girl said reassuringly. "We wouldn't leave you with someone that would hurt you or mistreat you."
They soon arrived and the ninja set the young girl down. "They're inside now," she said, looking at the girl. "Now, remember your manners."
The little girl nodded and as soon as her guardian was out of sight, she knocked on the door, shivering a bit as the air was turning cold with the evening approaching, plus she was scared too. She had never been far from her guardians, though they had told her there might be a time when they and her would be separated, but she still was afraid.
Johanna, hearing a knock on the door, went to it and gasped at seeing the young girl there. "Oh, hello, sweetie," she said gently, kneeling down to the child's height. "Are you lost?"
The little girl shook her head. "No," she said. "But...I need your help, please."
Curious, the mother stood up. "Come in, sweetie," she said, her smile gentle. "Hilda, We have a guest," she called out calmly.
The blue-haired girl came out and smiled. "Hi," she said in a friendly voice.
Alfur, who was on Hilda's shoulder, blinked, noting the young girl looked familiar. Twig cocked his head to the side before going up to the young girl. Seeing him, the child reached out her hand and the deer fox came up to her and rubbed against her hand, making her giggle. "What is he?" She asked.
"He's my deer fox and his name is Twig," Hilda said with a smile.
Johanna smiled. "Hilda, why don't you and...oh, what is your name, sweetie?" She asked, realizing she didn't know the child's name.
"I can answer that for you," came a voice and they glanced around before electricity crackled and someone landed in a crouch in front of them all. Alfur gasped in shock as he saw who it was and he hid behind Hilda's head, trembling.
"Alfur, what's wrong?" She asked.
"Hilda, that's a witch!" He said in fear. "One you don't want to mess with!"
Johanna quickly got in front of the two girls, but the newcomer smiled and looked at them. "I often get mistaken for a witch, but I prefer the term 'mage'," she said before standing straighter. "Hello, Johanna. Hello, Hilda. My name is Destina, and I've been watching you."
Well, here we go. Now again, please be gentle in the reviews and bear with me on this story. Thank you.
