AN: Hey there! Thank you so much person who is reading and clicked on my story! This fanfiction I have been working on forever, ever since Beyblade Metal Fusion was on Cartoon Network. It's been heavily altered and rewritten but I finally think that I am confident enough to publish it for fun! Whether only one or a hundred people read it, I'm happy to finally get it out there.

This first part is just a prologue I was debating on doing but I felt like I should just get the overall premise out first. Then there will be a lot longer chapters and more to the story. I did research and read the legend I will be referring to below, I took inspiration from the anime Fruits Basket and added a few things just for the sake of the story. This is all for fun and a hobby! I will also be making a cover image for the book soon hopefully!

See you in the next chapter!

The legend of the Chinese Zodiac was always widely known. It was said that the heavens wished to bestow one of the twelve earthly branches to each animal who came in a great race. They must reach the heavens at the end of the race, going through many obstacles and crossing through rapid rivers. Depending on the order of which they came, the gods chose which earthly branch they were given.

They were of the order of the Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and finally the Pig.

However, many do not know the true reason for this system, and sudden calling for the great race.

The animals were not just holders of a branch, but guardians from heaven to the earth. They protected the earth from chaos and bringing balance, making sure harmony resigned over the mortals they watched over. It seemed like a simple job to the guardians, yet they had to go through the harsh obstacles to prove their strengths.

When they crossed the end of the race, they were blessed with such great power and abilities to help the humans.

One day, however, a strong chaotic force fell from the heavens, bringing with it pain and misery to the mortals of earth. It grew through the strength of negativity and with more misery, it would only grow more powerful.

Plagues and destruction surrounded the mortals for a long time, and while the Zodiacs tried to help in any way they could for them. It was all just an endless cycle. Their powers could not be used outside the heavens for that long in their forms.

Knowing full well they couldn't stop it individually in the mortal realm, each guardian blessed an individual mortal with an object that could hopefully slow the chaos down. A top with incredible strength, able to tap into the great powers of each zodiac guardian. These tops became the first Beyblades of the world.

12 humans blessed to use these beyblades worked together to try and stop any more destruction. They became known as also the first 12 Zodiac Bladers. The battle though lasted longer than anticipated. One final move decided the victor.

The Zodiac Bladers chose one bey of theirs to receive all the power into one. A last act to end the war and bring back harmony to earth.

With all strength that was left, the guardians' human counterparts trapped the chaos within a mountain. Within a seal created by the Zodiac beasts to only last though for a thousand years.

Exhausted the zodiac animals asked one last request of their remaining human friends while they rest for the next battle. To scatter across the world and choose successors to inherit their beyblades of great power. To be the protectors of harmony of the world for them, until the seal is broken, and the guardians awaken.

They must choose individuals who have been tested with the obstacle of life and pain before they are to be tested if worthy to be called Zodiac Bladers. Pain that they have been experienced before is the biggest obstacle one can face. So, when misery is unleashed, they hold no fear against it. That they are perfect to be mortal versions of harmony.

Then the zodiac beasts will call to them to together and act once more to seal and stop from chaotic destruction.

Repeating a vicious cycle for thousands of years.
