Dynamite and Love

Rin laid on her bed, flipping through her journal for the past year. She had BTS playing in the background, the words to Butter leaving her lips. Her small feet kicking in the air, she was dressed in a pair of Victoria Secret's shorts and a tank top. Today she only had 2 classes and she already finished them both.

Rolling to her back, Rin held up her journal skimming the pages.

By going through her journal, she was able to see the downward progression of her best friend's Sesshomaru relationship with his girlfriend Jun.

Her entries started with how Sesshomaru was happy but over time, she could see her entries changed to Sesshomaru seeming to be unhappy or how possessive Jun was over him. Jun never like Sesshomaru hanging out with her anymore.

Anytime Rin tried to make plans with Sesshomaru, Jun insisted she come along.

Placing her journal on her chest, she hugged it and sighed out, "She doesn't deserve you…"

Jun wasn't completely terrible, just not the right person for her friend.

Whenever the three did hang out, both women knew they were only being nice to the other for the sake of Sesshomaru.

Rin remembered the comment Jun had made at dinner one time a few months back…..

"I'll be back." Sesshomaru stated and then left the table.

Rin and Jun just eyed each other.

Rin had invited Sesshomaru out for dinner and not to her surprise Sesshomaru showed up with Jun on his arm.

During their meal, the conversation was light, each telling how their studies were going but whenever the conversation shifted to Rin, Jun would roll her eyes and bring the conversation back to her or Sesshomaru.

With Sesshomaru gone now, the table got quiet.

"I don't know why you insist on seeing Sesshomaru, he is busy with his studies," Jun said, arching an eyebrow.

"But not too busy for you?" Rin evenly said back.

"Of course not, I'm his girlfriend," Jun said with a smirk.

"Jun, I've been with friends with Sess for over seven years. He's my best friend and we always make time for each other." Rin said, crossing her arms.

"Hm….for now…..he won't have time for you once we get married." Jun smugly said.

"Oh…you're getting married now?" Rin said, her eyebrows raising up.

Rin always knew Jun had delusions of grandeur but this one was really taking the cake.

"He hasn't proposed yet but it's only a matter of time. We've been dating for over a year now. It's only natural that we get married soon." Jun said with a happy sigh.

"Sureeee…" Rin said under her breath.

"And once we do, Sesshomaru won't any have time for you," Jun said in a hard voice.

Sesshomaru then came back and sat down.

"I missed you, honey!" Jun sweetly said, kissing Sesshomaru on the cheek.

Sesshomaru only smiled.

...

...

It was a day later when Sesshomaru called Rin, needing to vent about Jun. They had just gotten into an argument, and he was thinking of ending things with her. Rin only listened, silently praying to whatever god was listening that Sesshomaru would finally do it.

Two days after that, Sesshomaru had texted that her that him and Jun worked everything out.

Rin texted back that she was happy to hear that but screamed into her pillow in anger.

This was their entire relationship, a constant push and pull. Never better, never any worse.

How could Sesshomaru not see Jun was completely wrong for him?

Rin pulled her journal from her chest and sat up. Getting up, she walked to her dorm window and watched all the other college kids walk around the campus.

Rin remembered her first day on campus and was thankful Sesshomaru was attending the same university as her. It was good to see a friendly face in a new environment.

She also remembered meeting Jun for the first time, Jun was so sweet. Rin was a bit surprised though when Jun asked if Sesshomaru was single. With Sesshomaru not being with anyone, Rin couldn't lie so she said yes.

And that's when their back-and-forth relationship started.

Rin regretted the day she introduced Jun to Sesshomaru.

His entire relationship with Jun was her fault. She only wanted her best friend to be happy. Now she felt such guilt that she didn't know what to do. She only mentioned Jun to Sesshomaru, thinking he would say no.

To her surprise a day later, Sesshomaru asked for Jun's number and now 18 months later they were still together.

And Jun turned out to be extremely paranoid about who Sesshomaru would hang around with. It was amazing to see someone go from sweet to straight up to possessive in a matter of months.

Rin groaned and leaned onto the window ledge, pressing her forehead to the glass.

She wasted so many opportunities…..

She lived next door to him since she was 13. She had so many years to tell him how she felt but didn't…

Now she was watching her best friend date a possessive woman. It was such a toxic relationship but somehow neither noticed.

Rin smiled at the memory of him and his family moving in….

"Rin, I want you to meet our new neighbors. This is Toga, his wife Kimi, and their son Sesshomaru."

A 13-year-old Rin stood next to her parents as they welcomed their new neighbors. They had moved in a few days ago.

Rin shyly looked up and smiled at the new family. Her eyes traveled from each and finally landed on Sesshomaru.

He was definitely cute. He had short silver hair, a lean frame, and a small hint of a smile on his face.

"Hi…." Rin quietly said.

"Oh you're 13? Will you be going to Kawodona High next year?" Kimi asked.

"Yes, she will, she's very excited." Rin's father answered, wrapping his arm around her shoulder.

"Our son goes there, he likes it. Isn't that right Sesshomaru?" Toga said, looking towards his son.

"Hm," Was Sesshomaru's response, his eyes scanning Rin's face.

Rin blushed and looked down at her shoes.

..

Later that night as Rin prepared for bed, she looked out her window and was surprised to see herself staring straight at Sesshomaru.

Their bedrooms were right across from each other. He had not noticed her yet.

Rin found herself captivated by his bedroom. It was so minimal; he had a painting hanging from the wall and the walls were a dark color.

Sesshomaru suddenly turned and Rin dropped to the floor.

"Stupid….stupid….stupid…." Rin said to herself. If he saw her looking, now she looked like a complete weirdo having dropped to the floor.

Rin at a loss, rolled over and crawled to her vanity, and grabbed her handheld mirror. She crawled to her window and very slowly held up the mirror to look out her window.

Sesshomaru was gone.

Letting out a huge sigh, Rin peeked out to confirm.

He had closed his curtains now.

Rin stood up from the floor and sat in her chair.

..

It was a few days later when Rin had her headphones on. She was listening to BTS Danger. It was a new band, and their music was pretty catchy. She was dancing in her room when she looked out her window to see Sesshomaru staring at her. She was so caught off guard, she tripped and fell over her random tennis shoe that was laying on her floor.

She banged her forehead on the floor and scraped her knee.

Grimacing in pain and completely embarrassed, Rin laid there trying to figure out what to do.

If he saw her fall, he was probably waiting to see if she would pop up.

"Might as well get this over with…" Rin said.

Finally standing up, Rin looked out her window to see Sesshomaru waiting. He then grabbed a pad of paper. She saw him writing on it and then turn it towards her to read.

"ARE YOU OK?"

Rin grabbed her backpack, reaching in to grab her notebook. Quickly writing her response, she held up her notebook.

"I'M OK, JUST BANG MY HEAD AND KNEE."

She watched as Sesshomaru nodded at her. Rin looked towards her notebook and starting writing and looked up again to see Sesshomaru wave and close his curtain.

Rin sighed and tossed her notebook to her bed. She quietly left her room to get some aspirin for her head and knee. Before walking out, she looked towards Sesshomaru's closed window and her notebook and walked out.

Her message left as is sitting on her bed…..

"DO YOU WANT TO HANG OUT SOMETIME?"

..

.

Their little game of writing back and forth on notebooks continued over the years. She watched as his hair grew longer and he filled out. They got to know each other as well. Their parents having BBQs and inviting their families over.

Sesshomaru was there to show her around Kawodona High on her first day. He told her what people to avoid and also made sure to tell everyone to stay away from her if they have any cruel intentions towards her. That she was under his protection and there would be hell to pay if he found out someone was picking on her.

Rin enjoyed high school and she had Sesshomaru to thank for it. He was always there for her. Her little crush on him that started when she was 13 only grew over the years.

She knew she started to fall in love with him when they went to prom together when she was a senior.

She had gotten her dress and was super excited to go, her date was a male friend from her homeroom class.

The day before her prom, her date had gotten into a car accident and broke his leg. Rin was devastated. This was her first prom and all her friends had dates. Her parents told her to go with her friends.

Rin had nodded yes but….she knew she would feel like a third wheel hanging around her friends with their dates.

On the day of her prom, Rin had dressed, applied shimmer colors to her eyes and mascara. As she was dressing, she heard the doorbell but thought nothing of it. Looking at herself in the mirror, Rin thought to herself, 'Well at least I look cute tonight….'

Rin stepped out of her room and headed down the stairs.

"Mom, I'm gonna take off. I told the girls I would meet them at the park to take pictures." Rin said. She was looking for her shoes and not paying attention when she walked into the foyer of her home. She also didn't feel like sticking around to take pictures for her parents. It would only be a reminder that she went by herself.

"Rin, you look beautiful!"

Rin's head snapped up at the unfamiliar voice.

Her jaw dropped open.

Sesshomaru was standing there with his parents, dressed in a suit.

"What?..." Rin asked in shock.

Toga chuckled, "Your parents told us about how your date fell through and Sesshomaru happened to be visiting. He volunteered to be your date for the night."

Kimi then spoke, "Yes, your mother told us the color of your dress, so I ran out and got you a corsage."

Rin felt tears welling in her eyes. She never believed he would go to a dance with her. He didn't like dances, he always stayed home from them. Sesshomaru was also a first-year in college. These kinds of things were behind him now.

"You….really don't mind going with me?" Rin asked with hope feeling her being.

"For you, I'll go…." Sesshomaru answered with a small smile.

Rin's smile filled the entire room with happiness. Both parents quickly pushing their children together, Sesshomaru placing Rin's corsage on her. They lined up for pictures for the next few minutes as their parents snapped away.

The rest of the night was the best night of Rin's life. She danced the night away with Sesshomaru…to feel his warm arms around her, holding her secure. She couldn't ask for anything more.

By the end of the night, Rin had taken her shoes off and was walking hand in hand with Sesshomaru. He walked her to her door and squeezed her hand.

"Sess….thank you so much for tonight…You didn't have to do any of this and it means so much to me." Rin said beaming.

"You had fun?" Sesshomaru's low voice asked.

"Yes!" Rin said with a bounce.

"Good."

"Did you want to come over for breakfast tomorrow?" Rin asked, smiling.

"I can't…I have to get back to school tomorrow." Sesshomaru said.

"Ah I see…." Rin said, her happiness slipping.

The couple stood there in silence.

"Well I better go….thank you Sesshomaru…." Rin said softly.

Sesshomaru then stepped closer and placed his hand on her cheek. Rin felt her body entire heat up at his touch.

Sesshomaru leaned forward and gently kissed her forehead.

"Goodnight sweet Rin." Sesshomaru said, tilting his head to the side, his eyes almost staring into her soul.

Rin could only nod and stumbled back and into her home. She looked back to see Sesshomaru just watching her. He tipped his head at her as she closed her door.

Rin leaned against the door and felt a new feeling that she had never felt before deep in her stomach.

Rin smiled to herself and walked to her bedroom in the dimly dark house. She laid on her bed still in her dress and looked towards Sesshomaru's window.

Sitting up, Rin grabbed her notebook and wrote out a message that she knew he would never see. After writing, she walked to his window and held it up to his closed curtain. After a few moments, Rin lowered the notebook and went to the bathroom to start getting ready for bed.

Laying on her desk, laid a note that would be dormant for the next several years until a stroke of luck would finally bring it to light….

…..

Rin was snapped from her musings of her young life when her phone rang. Sitting down and putting the phone on speaker, she answered, "Ayame! What's up?"

"RIN! It's been forever! Some of us are going to the tennis courts, come play with us!"

Rin laughed. It had been far too long since she played tennis, she was actually quite good. She didn't sign up this year because of her studies. She missed playing with her old tennis buddies.

"Ok! Can I meet you guys in like 30 minutes?"

"Of course!" Ayame exclaimed out.

"Ok, see you guys in a bit!"

Rin quickly hung up and changed into pair of athletic biker shorts and crop top. Grabbing her journal, she tossed it into her drawer but didn't realize it fell into the left drawer instead of the right drawer before the drawer quietly slid shut on its own. In the process of the journal falling into the drawer, a piece of loose paper was pushed out. It was now sticking out like a sore thumb, waiting for the right person to find it.

Grabbing her tennis racket and a small backpack to hold her large water bottle, Rin left her dorm room.

~oOo~

Rin kept up with Ayame as they kept bouncing the ball across the court against their friends. They were playing two against two.

The tennis ball was hit so hard that it swung across the court and both women shouted out, "I GOT IT!" before both Rin and Ayame ran straight into each other.

Rin twisted her ankle and fell over causing her head to slam on the ground as she bounced off of Ayame. Rin's head felt funny and then her world went black.

~oOo~

Rin groggily woke to a white ceiling.

God, her head was throbbing.

"Oh my god, Rin!"

Rin turned to her head to see Ayame jumping up from her chair and rush towards her.

"What happened?" Rin asked, looking around.

She was in a hospital.

"Rin, I'm so sorry! We both lunged for the ball, and we hit each other. You hit your head on the ground and knocked yourself unconscious. The doctor said you probably have a concussion, and it looks like you may have fractured your ankle as well."

Rin looked down at herself to see that she was wearing a hospital gown and that her ankle was wrapped up. She tried flexing it and winced in pain.

"How long have I been out?" Rin asked as she sat up.

"For like two hours. I'll get the doctor!" Ayame said, running out the door.

Rin sat and waited. If she fractured her ankle then who knows how long it would take to heal….thank god she wasn't on the tennis team right now. Rin knew it would take her longer to get around now.

Ayame returned a few minutes later with a tall dark-haired woman.

"Hi, I'm Kikyo. It's good to have you back among the living." Kikyo softly said.

Rin smiled and asked, "How do long I need to be here? How is my ankle?"

"We want to keep you overnight for observation. I believe you have a concussion, and we need to monitor you. As for your ankle, I want you to wear a boot for the next week. After the week, we can check it. If everything looks well, you can take it off. If not, I'll decide from there."

Rin sighed, "Ok."

"Do you have someone that can pick you up tomorrow? They will need to bring you clothes." Kikyo asked.

Rin's mind immediately went to Sesshomaru. He had a key to her dorm room for emergencies.

"I do, I'll call him later to tell him."

Kikyo then performed a quick exam on Rin and advised her to let the nurse know if she needed anything.

Ayame stayed for a few more hours, the women watching videos on youtube and laughing. Ayame even found a charger from one of the nurses for Rin to use so her phone wouldn't die.

After Ayame left, Rin called Sesshomaru.

"Rin."

"Hi Sesshomaru, can you do me a favor tomorrow morning?"

"What is it?"

"I'm at the hospital, I'm ok. I banged my head playing tennis and fractured my ankle. They want me to stay overnight for observation. Do you mind stopping by my place tomorrow morning and picking up some clothes for me?"

"I can do that; you don't mind going through clothes?" Sesshomaru said with a hint of amusement in his voice.

"I trust you Sess. My left drawer has my under ware and sports bras. Just grab whatever. The drawer under it has shorts and shirts, again, just grab anything."

"Ok, you said left drawer, right?" Sesshomaru repeated.

"Yup, left drawer."

The pair talked for a few minutes before Sesshomaru had to leave the call.

Rin blew air out of her lungs and turned the tv on.

"Gonna be a long night…." Rin said before turning on the tv.

~oOo~

Kikyo waved her flashlight back and forth in front of Rin's eyes. Stepping back, Kikyo said, "Everything looks good. If you feel any pain or lightheadedness please call."

Kikyo checked her boot one more time.

"Is your friend on his way?"

"Yeah, I texted, and he said he was on his way," Rin answered.

The next moment Sesshomaru walked in.

"Sess!" Rin cheered out happily.

Sesshomaru looked at her for a moment before saying hi.

"Is everything ok?" Rin asked in concern.

Sesshomaru had an odd expression on his face as he looked at her. He only nodded and then handed over a bag with her clothes.

Rin eyed Sesshomaru but accepted his answer.

"I'll wait for you outside." Sesshomaru said in a distant voice and then left.

Kikyo looked at Sesshomaru and back to Rin, "He's quite the looker."

"Yeah…." Rin answered, looking towards the door. Something was off…

Turning back to Kikyo, "So do I have the go-ahead to leave now?"

Kikyo smiled, "Yes. Please check with the nurse before you leave."

Rin quickly changed and threw her previous days' clothes into her bag and made her way to the door, opening it to find Sesshomaru pacing in the hall.

"Is everything ok?" Rin asked Sesshomaru as she limped over to him in her boot.

"Yes, let's get you home." Sesshomaru curtly said and walked ahead of her.

Feeling apprehension in her gut but not knowing what to say, Rin followed after her best friend.

The walk to her dorm was quiet. Once they reached her dorm, Rin turned, "Thanks for walking me home. I got it from here."

Sesshomaru took his spare key and opened her door and gently pushed her in.

Rin walked in and turned around to see Sesshomaru staring at her. He then walked over to the dresser and picked up her journal.

Rin felt her stomach drop.

"W..where did you find that?" Rin meekly asked.

"In your left drawer where you told me to find your clothes."

Oh god…..she must have tossed it in the wrong drawer. Rin paled and visibly swallowed.

"Did you want me to find this?" Sesshomaru asked, stepping closer holding out her journal.

"What!? No! I….I usually keep it in my right drawer. It must have fallen into the wrong drawer yesterday." Rin exclaimed.

Rin stepped forward to take her journal back, but Sesshomaru quickly opened it and pulled out a folded piece of paper, and opened it.

Rin stared in horror when she realized what paper it was.

"What is this?" Sesshomaru's hardened voice asked.

In his hands was the paper she wrote her message on from her senior prom night. Clipped to it was a picture of the two of them from that night.

Her note that read in bold letters.

"I THINK I LOVE YOU."

Rin couldn't answer, she could only stare in shock between Sesshomaru and the note.

"Is it true?" Sesshomaru then softly asked.

Rin stepped forward and took the journal from his hands, closing the book. She sat on her bed.

"Does it matter?" Rin softly said.

Neither moved nor spoke as the silence lingered.

With her head down, Rin saw Sesshomaru's feet appear before her. Looking up, she found Sesshomaru looking at her. His eyes holding so much intensity and wonder.

"Why didn't you say something?" He asked.

Taking a deep breath, Rin answered, "I tried…so many times….but I got scared."

"I'm with Jun now…." Sesshomaru gently said.

"I know…I don't expect anything to change. Pretend you never saw the note."

"It's not that simple Rin…."

"Then stop being my friend," Rin said, surprising them both.

Sesshomaru pulled back, his eyes widening.

"You said it's not that simple, it can be. Just stop being my friend. You're busy with your studies and we only see each other a few times a month. It won't be hard. As you said, you're with Jun. If you see a future with her then who am I to stand in the way."

"You mean that?" Sesshomaru slowly answered.

Swallowing past the lump in her throat and the burning in her eyes from tears threatening to fall, "Yes, I mean it. We're no longer friends. You can go. Thank you for seeing me home."

Rin lowered her head and Sesshomaru's shoes disappeared from her vision, and she heard the door open and close.

Looking up, Rin found herself alone and let out a strangled sob. She covered her mouth and leaned over and curled into a ball and wept.

She just lost the love of her life and her best friend…..

~oOo~

The next week by in a blur for Rin, she could hardly sleep or eat. She had just come from the hospital and Kikyo was happy to announce her ankle was good and no longer need the boot.

She hadn't talked to Sesshomaru since the day he brought her home from the hospital.

It truly was over between them…

Deciding she needed a break from school, Rin made plans to go home for the weekend. Pulling up her phone, she dialed her mom.

"Hi, sweetie! How are you?"

"Hi, mom. I'm ok….is it ok if I came home for the weekend? I need a break from school." Rin asked.

"Of course, honey! Your father and I won't be here though, we made plans to visit your aunt. Did you want to come along?"

"No, it's ok. You guys go ahead. It'll be nice to have the house to myself." Rin said with a small smile.

Rin talked to her mother for a few more minutes and hung up.

~oOo~

After double-checking she had everything, Rin grabbed her overnight bag and made her way to the train station. She had an hour ride to get home.

After exiting the train, Rin made the short walk to her home. While walking home, it started to thunder, and the sky turned dark. Rin quickened her pace. Reaching the front steps of her home, Rin let out a happy sigh.

Yes, being at home was what she needed. She knew Sesshomaru would not be at home this weekend. She knew his schedule and this weekend Jun had planned a weekend away for them.

The only reason Rin knew this was because Jun had all but gloated about it whenever she saw her.

Rin walked to the kitchen and after looking for a few minutes, found what she was looking for. Clenching the item in her hand, she made her way upstairs.

Rin entered her bedroom and just stared at her window leading her to look towards Sesshomaru's window. Pulling her journal from her bag, Rin laid it down and pulled the folded note out. Looking at the note, Rin opened the matchbook she had clenched in her hand. Standing over the trashcan, Rin light the match and held the letter to the glowing fire.

Rin held the match but found she couldn't bring the letter any closer. Letting the match burn out, she dropped it in the trashcan.

She had every intention of burning the letter once she got home. She didn't need it anymore. It was only a reminder of what couldn't be. She ended her friendship with her best friend, and she needed to take this step in order to move forward.

So why couldn't she burn this piece of paper?

Setting the paper down, Rin just sighed and left her room.

'I'll try again later….'

Rin spent the rest of the night cooking and watching some of her favorite animes, the night growing dark.

A loud rumble of thunder suddenly filled the living room, causing Rin to jump. Rin looked towards the window to see it was pouring.

Grabbing the nearby blanket, Rin snuggled in and let her mind be consumed by the romantic love story that was currently unfolding.

After another hour a huge clap of thunder roared and then the power went out.

"Seriously?!" Rin groaned out.

Rin lifted herself from the sofa and went to their garage to try the circuit breaker. After flipping the switches, nothing happened.

"Just great, the whole neighbor probably went out."

Rin turned to head back in and stopped dead in her tracks.

She thought she heard the door open.

'Oh hell no.' Rin thought to herself. She has seen too many horror films to know not to call out hello when you think someone is in your home.

Looking around, she saw a golf club from her father's bag. Quietly grabbing it, she tiptoed to the door and stepped out. Slowly walking down the hall, another thunder clapped out followed by lighting.

The lighting was so bright it lit the hallway and illuminated a figure standing in the hallway dripping water everywhere.

Rin screamed bloody hell and swung the golf club, but it was quickly caught. Rin pushed away but the figure grabbed onto her hands to stop her. Because the figure was soaking wet, their feet slipped when they moved forward and before Rin could realize it, she was falling and landed on her back with the figure pressed between her thighs.

Rin started screaming and started punching and kicking with all her might.

"RIN! STOP! It's me Sesshomaru!"

Rin stopped struggling and opened her eyes to see Sesshomaru panting above her.

Rin let her body go limp against the floor and groaned out.

"Sess! What are you doing here? You scared the shit out of me!" Rin exclaimed.

"I'm locked out of my house; your parents have a spare key to our home." Sesshomaru answered, still hovering above her.

Rin remembered that Sesshomaru and his parents knew the location of their spare key in case anything ever happened and vice versa.

"I did not know you would be here. I apologize for scaring you." Sesshomaru quietly said.

After hearing his explanation, Rin finally noticed the intimate position they were in. Her laid out on her back and him still resting between her open thighs. He was also dripping water on her now.

"Do you mind getting off me please?" Rin asked gently.

Sesshomaru also seemed to come to his senses about their position and quickly climbed off her. He offered his hand to help her up, but she turned away and stood by herself.

"I'll get the key for you," Rin said walking to the kitchen to look for his house key.

After looking for a few minutes, Rin found it hanging with the other keys and walked back to Sesshomaru.

Rin held out the key for Sesshomaru but then pulled back, "Wait….I thought you and Jun were going out of town this weekend? And where is your key?"

Sesshomaru didn't speak, merely looking at Rin with an expression she couldn't read.

"Sorry, I have no right to ask. Here." Rin said, handing out the key again.

They weren't friends anymore; it was none of her business what he did with whom.

Sesshomaru gently took the key from her small fingers and Rin walked to the front door to let him out.

She turned to find Sesshomaru still standing in the hall though.

"Sess?" Rin quietly called out.

"I still remember how you looked on your prom night…." Sesshomaru said quietly with his back to her.

Rin gasped.

"I didn't say anything because you had just turned 17….you were so young…you're still young." Sesshomaru said turning to fully face Rin now.

His sharp features were accentuated by dripping water running down his face. His eyes almost glowing when lightning flashed outside the window.

Rin gulped.

Walking towards her now, Sesshomaru started talking, "I didn't know you felt the same…..if I had known….Rin I started dating Jun because I was trying to get my mind off of you."

By this point, Sesshomaru was standing directly in front of her and Rin backed up until her back hit the wall. She panted at how close he was, she could smell sandalwood emitting from him. The rainwater bringing out his natural smell.

"But…..but….Jun always tagged along on our dinners and you didn't stop her. You let her come along to our outings." Rin whispered.

"I wanted you to still be in my life in some way. Looking back at it now, it was wrong of me to do that to you. I'm sorry to put you through that." Sesshomaru said sincerely.

Rin sighed and looked down, "You're still with Jun, Sesshomaru. Go home."

Rin started to push off the wall but was stop by Sesshomaru bracketing an arm on either side of her head.

"Sesshomaru?" Rin whispered looking into his golden orbs.

"I broke up with Jun the day after I took you home from the hospital."

Rin's eyes widen, she chewed on her bottom in hope.

"I didn't say anything because I needed to be alone for the week. I needed to be sure of what I wanted." Sesshomaru said pressing his forehead to her heated face.

"Which is?..." Rin asked.

Sesshomaru gently cupped her cheek and placed a hand on her waist, pulling her close.

"You."

Sesshomaru then gently kissed her warm lips. It wasn't anything heated or passionate, it was a simple kiss of a man trying to tell a woman that he wanted more. And that he was sorry.

A simple chaste kiss lingered on her lips even after he pulled away.

Sesshomaru stepped back and opened the front door to leave.

Rin quickly grabbed his wrist, "Wait!"

Sesshomaru gently smiled, "I plan on coming back, I wish to change into dry clothes."

Rin looked down and remembered that Sesshomaru was still in wet clothes.

She let go of his hand and blushed.

"I'll be waiting," Rin said smiling.

True to his word, Sesshomaru came back in dry clothes and the two sat down and finally had a discussion about their feelings. They talked well into the night and decided that they wanted to take things slow. Sesshomaru needed time to heal from the toxic relationship that he allowed to happen for the past 18 months. Rin also didn't want to push Sesshomaru into anything he didn't feel ready for.

During their talk, Rin had curled up in Sesshomaru's lap and then they laid down together on her family's sofa. They held each other tight and with the white noise of the thunder and rain, both fell asleep.

~oOo~

Rin woke in Sesshomaru's arms and smiled and snuggled into his chest for more warmth.

Sesshomaru was still asleep and sighed at her hug.

Rin closed her eyes intent on going back to sleep but her eyes snapped open when she heard someone clear their throat.

Rin slowly turned her head to see not only her parents staring but Sesshomaru's parents as well.

Quickly sitting up, Rin pushed Sesshomaru awake and said, "It's not what it looks like." Looking between all the parents.

Rin turned to shake Sesshomaru again to see him staring at their parents as well.

"It's not what it looks like," Sesshomaru repeated.

"No?" Toga said with a stern look on his face.

"Because I'll tell you what it looks like," Rin's father said stepping closer.

Rin's eyes widen in fear, and she grabbed Sesshomaru's hand, "Dad it's really not what it looks like. Please hear us out."

"You know what this looks like to me Rin?" Her father said pointing between herself and Sesshomaru.

"Dad..please," Rin said with tears in her eyes.

"It looks like you two finally figured out you are meant to be together." Rin's father softly said.

Rin practically sobbed, leaning into Sesshomaru's side.

After collecting herself, Rin asked, "When did you guys know?"

All the parents looked at each other and back to Rin and Sesshomaru, "Prom."

Rin started laughing, tears of joy running down her face.

"You two freshen up and I'll make us all breakfast. We need to know what finally brought you two together." Rin's father said. The parents exited the living room.

Sesshomaru and Rin turned to each other, their hands lacing together.

"Slow right?" Rin asked, sniffling.

"Slow…we all have the time in the world now….." Sesshomaru said with a gentle smile.

Sesshomaru pulled Rin into his lap and just hugged her.

Rin returned his tight embrace and smiled. As Rin hugged her best friend and soon-to-be boyfriend, she looked out the window to see clear skies.

Rin began softly humming BTS Danger. The song that caused her to fall and prompted their note exchanged.

Even if their relationship was going to be a slow pace, Rin was fine with that. As Sesshomaru said, they had all the time in the world to make up for what they lost.
