Hello, I'm trying this out to see if this would be an interesting concept. Now, I'm putting my own OC in this to make Harry Potter more interesting. But I am allowing other creators to send them their own OC's, as I feel like it's a little bit easier to work off new character's then trying to create conversations with original character's. I will put the form at the end of this chapter and possibly on my profile if people want it. Now, on with the chapter.

By the way, I don't own Harry Potter. It's owned by J. K. Rowling.

Lost in Plain Sight

Chapter 1: Conversation

It was cloudy day in Tampa Bay, with people bustling around having good times with one another. There was an area with various tables and chairs placed around a restaurant. There was a particular person around 13 years of age, reading a newspaper about some sports events and some new movies and plays that were coming, but nothing truly interesting. The guy looked at the year, 1993, and sighed a bit.

Why do I always feel left out? Like no one believes me to be responsible when I'm alone? I'm already 14, but my parents are babying the hell out of me. Can't I just go off on my own? Of course not, because I am not of age yet. But don't my parents understand that I'm already good at magic and all? Okay, maybe at Ilvermorny I wasn't always the most responsible...and maybe I wasn't taking my schoolwork as seriously...but still, I can take care of myself.

"Trent, thanks for waiting for me."

The now named Trent looked at one of his closest friends over the past five years. Richard was about three years older than Trent, but he already had respect for Richard, because of the way he acted around him. Trent knew that the way he acted offended some people, but Richard seemed really chill about everything, and always seemed to like talking to Trent.

The only reason I'm at this restaurant is because Richard wanted to meet me here. I wonder why he wanted to talk? I guess I'll find out pretty soon.

Trent then watched Richard sit down with a paper bag, and Richard rummaged through the bag and grabbed two containers. Trent grabbed his and opened it to find some lasagna. Trent saw that Richard had gotten some pasta, and both began eating. Being the impatient self that he is, Trent began asking questions.

"Rich, there's a reason you asked me to come here. What's up?" Trent asked.

"Trent, for once in your life, can I at least eat in peace? I want to enjoy this as much as possible." Richard said.

Trent obliged, but started tapping his feet while he was eating. A few minutes past, and Trent was already done with his lasagna. He was starting to lose his mind about how slow Richard was going, but Richard looked like he was done, and started talking to him.

"So, Trent, how are you?" Richard said.

Changing the subject, fantastic start. Fine, I'll play your game. But I want answers.

"Nothing much, just the usually stuff of having to deal with your parents having to constantly tell you I can't live in the world on my own...even though I'm a smart guy and can take care of myself."

"Do you mean take care of your grades?"

"...those aren't as important. But still, I'll be totally fine in the real world, or anywhere I can stay."

Trent noticed Richard smile at this, which caused some confusion.

"Well...there is some place I need you to go. This is very confidential, so you can't tell anyone what I'm about to tell you."

Trent's face turned serious, and he was completely focused now on the topic at hand.

"So, have you ever heard of a place called Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry?" Richard asked.

"You mean the second-rate school that lives in the 1880's? I don't know, why don't you ask me again and maybe It will jog my memory." Trent said.

"Sure it will. Anyways, the reason I'm asking you about this is because I need you to transfer there."

Trent's face scowled, and his head started churning.

He's joking right? He can't be serious about this. But...he's asking me to transfer. I want to prove my worth so I don't have to be seen as a child in the eyes of my parents. No, my parents wouldn't allow me. I would never be able to transfer. Maybe I should ask Rich about that.

"So, you're saying you want me to attend their? You realize that I would have to transfer as a Third year, and people would obviously notice if I'm new there." Trent said.

"'Not exactly. I know a guy who makes people invisible...figuratively." Richard said.

"You mean I'll be invisible the entire time while I'm there? Great."

"No, I mean you won't stand out is what I mean. All you have to do is keep an eye on a certain individual...Harry Potter."

Trent froze at what Rich was telling him to do.

He wants me, Trent Wilford, to keep an eye on the Harry Potter? That's amazing. Trent, calm down, you don't want to panic in front of Rich.

"Okay, why in the hell am I supposed to do that? You know my parents don't like me going off on my own, and I can't really talk to the Harry Potter. I'll stick out."

"Trent, you don't have to talk to him. You just have to keep an eye on him when you can. And as for your parents...you'll just be at home."

"And how do you plan on doing that?"

"Don't worry, I already told your parents about your going on a school trip to Europe. They won't suspect a thing."

Trent began to think long and hard about this.

So my parents don't know that I'm going to keep tabs on Harry Potter, and that I'm going to Hogwarts where they still live in the 1880's. And even though the classes might be harder, I'm smart enough to get used to things. So, I think this is a good thing to try. Although, I do have one last question...

"Why me? And who is putting you up for this?"

"...I'm not supposed to say. Sorry, but I have to keep that a secret for now."

Trent now looked suspiciously at Richard. He knew something was up, and that Rich was intentionally keeping things under wraps, but he didn't want to pick off more than he can chew, so he kept quiet.

"Fine, what do I need? And which house am I going to be assigned to?"

"I think which house you're in is pretty obvious. I've known you most of my life, so you would be perfect with Ravenclaw. As for what you need, there are a lot of classes you need to take. That includes Transfiguration, Potions, Herbology, Astronomy, Charms, Defense Against the Dark Arts, History of Magic, and two Electives that you want to take."

"I'll take Arithmancy and Study of Ancient Ruins. There the most interesting. Now, how am I supposed to keep track of this Harry Potter? We could be in different classes."

"Don't worry, it's not going to be that big of a deal. You'll figure something out."

"Thanks for the vote of confidence jerk. Anyways, when am I supposed to be leaving anyways? I'm supposed to be getting all of these supplies before September 1st."

"I've gotten you a plane ticket to London."

Trent then watched Rich take the plane ticket out of his left pocket. Trent opened it up and saw that the ticket had been set for the 23rd of August, about eight days before the start of term.

"So, all I've got to do is just show up with my school supplies and people won't notice I'm new?"

"Yeah, you've got nothing to worry about man."

Trent still wasn't a hundred percent sure he trusted Rich at this moment, just asking him out of the blue to help him out with something so secret. But, what else did he have to do? This could be exciting new adventure...or something more sinister if he wasn't careful.

Okay, I know this chapter is short, but this is to set up everything that happens in the future. Okay, now to get to the form. This will be a long on, as I want to get through mostly everything about the character.

Anyways, that's that. I'll probably going to update again once I get a OC that would fit good into the story. I would prefer to have an OC submitted to me by PM, but I don't mind if it's posted in the reviews. Also, I have to say this because I know people are going to do it, but I won't accept Gary Stews or Mary Sues, because they would be way to overpowered. These are kids for goodness sakes. There not world beaters. Hope to see you soon.
