Hello! This is my first attempt at writing about Limlendez in English. This one shot happens on Shaun & Lea's wedding. I hope you like what I've come up with! Spoiler alert: be prepared for pain.
The sparkle in his eyes was one of the first things that made her feel attracted to him. As if the emotion his eyes conveyed were a magnet, pulling her towards him.
Now it's no different.
They are ready for Shaun and Lea's wedding. Lim is coming down the stairs, wearing a long-sleeved burgundy dress. The dress has a generous neckline, tight at the waist and loose at the bottom. The way he stares at her makes her breathless. Neil looks at her like she's the most precious thing in his life. As if she had the sun and moon in her hands.
"What are the chances.." Neil whispers in a sensual tone, approaching her. "Of us being able to miss the wedding and stay in bed?"
Lim feels goosebumps as she enjoys his voice against her face. Just because he's so close, the chief of surgery's breathing starts to catch. The air starts to run out. Neil rests his manly hands on the woman's thin waist, bringing her body even closer to his. His beard scrapes against her neck purposefully, knowing how much she likes it.
"Neil…" she tries to protest, but her voice comes out more like a moan.
He sighs.
"I know…" He takes a step back and runs a hand through his hair, trying to compose himself. - On a normal day it's already hard to keep my hands off you, imagine then you in this outfit...
His voice conveys so much truth, making his despair clear. Staring into Neil's eyes, Audrey swallows hard at the sight of his dilated pupils, demonstrating the size of his desire for her.
"Well, try to hold back." Lim says smiling, playing with the burgundy tie he was wearing. – Today is the wedding of two very special people for us.
"You're right... you always are." He returns the smile, giving her a peck. "It's kind of crazy to notice that we saw him mature, grow, and overcome so many obstacles... Now he's going to marry the woman he loves."
"Shaun has evolved a lot since we met him." Lim praises "I can't not take some of this credit for us, for having contributed a little to his learning."
"He's a fantastic man." Melendez agrees. "I'm sad for the way I acted with him at the beginning, but I'm happy that he managed to prove to everyone the enormous capacity he has. Shaun manages to be better than many people who already have several years of experience."
Lim agrees. The chief surgeon takes a step back, looking the man up and down.
"You're pretty irresistible, you know?" praises, running her hand through his arms. "You were careful to take a tie the color of my dress."
The woman tilts her head to the side and stares at him intently, which she does when she feels emotional. He's already learned to recognize these signs, everything that makes her... her. For him, he would spend a lifetime discovering every little new thing about her.
The doctor lifts his hands and cups her face, taking her lips gently with his.

- Lim?
The chief is brutally brought into the present by her co-worker, Morgan. They were at Shaun and Lea's wedding party when Audrey began to imagine what it would be like if Melendez were there.
- Excuse me. – Audrey asks. – I got a little out of orbit.
- Understandable - the youngest responds. – You didn't lose much, actually. Just Park making stupid steps on the dance floor. - grumbles, but by the discreet smile on her face, she realizes that the blonde is joking.
- Glad I lost it then. - Lim laughs, and soon after Morgan joins him on the dance floor.
The doctor watches the young couple dancing, having fun. Up ahead, she sees Shaun and Lea sharing a kiss. Andrew with his wife.
Everyone seems to have someone but her.
And she knows that this is her fault alone. It's not easy to have someone present in your life when you do everything you can to drive others away. Doesn't open up, doesn't allow youself to be vulnerable. Don't let people really get to know you as you are.
Neil was the only person Lim felt comfortable with being the way she is, speaking her mind without fear of being judged. She felt at peace with him.
And now she's lost her point of peace.
The feeling of losing a person hurts too much. Especially when they're still alive. She lost Neil several times in her life. First, for insecurity. Fear of the unknown. Fear of being rejected. And then to something definitive, death.
After a lot of therapy, a lot of self-care and a lot of discovery, she came to a conclusion. It is not by closing yourself and avoiding others that we avoid pain. Pain comes anyway. It is part of maturation. And you need to know how to recognize your problems and deal with them.
Audrey learned to question what was behind her insecurity. Fear of being rejected, fear that things will not work out, fear of being alone. Afraid of repeating her parents' story.
Leaving Guatemala months ago, she made a promise to herself. Of running towards things, not away from them. And that's why now, she ends up making a decision. Something she's been wanting for a long time, but was afraid to fight for it. What if it didn't work?
But that fear won't stop her now.
Audrey always wanted to be a mother. Practically all people who live or have lived with her could notice that she has a maternal touch. A mother's touch. Life ended up passing by, she was leaving this desire aside. But it's never too late to start over. Be it at 20, 30, 50 years old and so on. Just follow your heart and chase what you want.
And right now, what she wants most is a child. She's going to join the adoption line. Go adopt a little child. A wide, sincere smile appears on Lim's face as she makes this decision.
Her mind goes back to that little girl, Trinity. She remained just for little while in her life, but enough to leave permanent marks on her heart. Restore old desires. Remind her of what really matters.
"I would like everyone's attention, please." the bride asks, lightly tapping a knife against the glass. – Shaun, now my husband, really wanted that somehow Neil Melendez was present at our wedding. So we made it happen."
- Despite how he acted with me in the beginning, he was a great mentor to me. He taught me many things, and at several times he defended me and believed in me. It's very important to have people who believe in us in our lives. And I am grateful to him. – Shaun says, not facing the crowd.
The doctor turns towards a wooden easel, which is covered with a white sheet. Shaun peels back the sheet, revealing a photo of Melendez painted there.
Lim's heart starts to pound at the sight of him there, painted so precisely. His well-defined jaw, his dimples, his serious look. The eyebrow arched, as if he was about to challenge someone. It feels so real, like he really is there. Audrey's eyes water and she lifts her arm as if she could touch him. She so wanted a hug from him. Feel his body enveloping hers, even for the last time. So much was left unresolved and unsaid between them. She just wanted one more chance.
"Come" Lea calls, with a friendly smile on her face. "I want you to be the first to take a picture with him."
Lim smiles through her tears and approaches the easel, wiping her tears quickly and taking a stand beside it. At the end of the photo, she can't resist and runs her hand over the portrait. His hair texture looks as smooth there as it really was.
"Shaun and I would like you to keep the painting after the party." Lea offers.
"Thank you." Lim thanks her with an emotional smile. "Of course I accept."
And she already knows where to hang this picture. In the living room, where, God willing, her daughter or son will play a lot in it.
Soo.. did you like it? Please let me know your thoughts! I'm sunamorim on twitter.
