Warning: This Story will take place during Season 5 of the Originals and branch off into its own storyline with possibly some major changes. The Prologue will be set somewhere around season 4 just to give some background to what is happening prior to the main part of the story.

From time to time I would remember on a full-moon the pack would go out into the woods and they would hunt animals and occasionally vampires that roamed into the territory. Lupine Ridge was a small community designed by the Malraux Pack, and while we were essentially a lot bigger now, it was strictly because of the unification in the past with my grandfather Malcom. Lupine Ridge was located somewhere between Memphis and Nashville Tennessee. Carter, my father and Alpha of the pack, had been one of the only children he had given birth too, and my mother Ebony wasn't a werewolf. This didn't go without much resistance at first, many of the pack holding on to the old ways, but eventually they had come to respect my mothers decision.

You've got to wonder, 'Why is it such a big-deal?' and that would be because of me. Werewolf kind was borderline extinct already and repopulating as well as maintaining one of the few royal bloodlines of the pack seemed necessary, and there was concern that I would not be a werewolf. Still, the pack remained strong and loved me just like any big family would. However, the peace had soon come to an end.

Things are still are a little fuzzy because I was seven, but I remember waking up to screams of terror and my father rushing to my room.

"Jacien, Come on we've gotta move. Stay low and stay quiet." I hadn't seen my dad like this a lot outside of the few times he was challenged for his position as Alpha, but I understood as I got low to the ground and followed him.

"Dad, where's mom? What's going on?" My vision hazy because I was tired, but the more I focused the more my senses became acute. It was hot, and there was smoke in the air.

"Shh! They're close." His voice carried a slight tremble behind it as we made it downstairs to my mother, "Carter, we've got to help them. They've killed so many already." Now I was scared. A lot of the families had been attacked by Hunters and two other vampires. "Give Jacien a knife." Carter said as he peeked through the window, he knew he was running low on time, but he was focused on protecting us long enough to get us out. "But, he-" Carter shook his head toward my mother and I knew this was because there was no time to argue.

As she hands me the knife, it was a little heavy, but I didn't have time to complain as a sudden crash through the door caught my attention. My dad had rushed forward at the tall muscular man that broke through the door with his gun drawn. Punches were thrown, but I didn't get to watch as my mom dragged me with her through back door as we ran.

"Mom! Dad, we have to go back!" It was the only thing that came across my mind as we ran, but I found myself running into the back of my mom who had stopped suddenly.

"Please, don't." Her voice trembled and out in front of us, I could see the man standing there ready to attack. He wasn't a vampire, somehow it was easier to tell when there was one of them, but it didn't look like they were here to help either.

Before I knew, the man had attacked my mother and she fought valiantly. "Jacien run! Run away!" I was scared, and I didn't know what to do as the man raised up his knife ready to kill her. My feet shuffled and I moved without thinking, swinging wildly with the knife in my hand. The man wasn't moving anymore and only fell forward. She scrambled out away from under the now corpse of the hunter and looked at me.

There was an underlying horror to what I had done but I wouldn't know that right now. She couldn't display the comforting love that a mother could when something traumatic happened because now our lives depended on us running now. We ran further out from the town until we reached the rendezvous, and only one other was there.

"Roman! Where is Carter?!" My mom cried out. Roman was a strong man, second to my father in the pack, and he looked to be in worse shape. He shook his head silently, and it was only then we realized the gravity that practically our entire family, the pack, everyone had been wiped out. Climbing into the car, my mother took the drivers seat while Roman tried to get as comfortable as he could with his injuries..and I was left in the back, holding on to the last memory of my father that night.

-Seven Years Later-

A lot of my life has been spent on the road because we always feared that we were still being hunted. With my curse trigger, I learned the true definition of pain during the transition on a full-moon and if there had been any questions if I were a werewolf before...well they didn't get to see it now. The only good thing now was that someone who was still alive, someone a part of the family had offered us a place to settle down in.

"Are you sure its okay for us to be going to New Orleans? We don't really know a lot about Keelin." While it was exciting to be able to settle on one place, even I struggled with the idea.

"We've been traveling a long time Jay, we can't keep doing it forever. Besides, it's family!" My mom said as she turned to the back-seat while Roman drove.

"It's not as good as it sounds, I mean the place is infested with Vampires...and Marcel." Roman croaked, before my mother gave him a side eye. "I mean, last time we heard Hayley Marshall and the Crescent Pack were all back there as well...so I guess that's a good word for it." He tried to sound pathetically optimistic.

"New Orleans sounds like a good start I guess, then." I said as my eyes drifted toward the window as we were now less than hour away.
