I just wanted to try my hand at a Gamer System esque story. I've read a couple by Mirlnir and The Dark Wolf Shiro which seemed interesting enough for me to try this. Don't expect anything good though.

Any referenced material and RWBY doesn't belong to me.

So I'm dead. Deader than a doornail and it turns out the afterlife is boring as all hell. People talked about Heaven and Hell and here I'm standing in a blank abyss. It's not even black, its bright green which burns my eyes.

Greetings Contractor!

Ah, you've done the old gamer treatment to me now? I shouldn't be surprised seeing as I've read stuff like this.

Don't be a spoilsport!

I'm not, it just feels underwhelming.

I agree, but I just want you to go, so let's make some things clear.

This is not a traditional Gamer System.

Is it the Divinity System?

You have been chosen to be a host for the Skill System!

Eh?

Lemme explain, unlike a traditional Gamer System, the Skill System is a bit more… Restrictive.

You don't have levels, there are no quests and you definitely can't kill a god.

What you can do is learn.

You have access to some features that the Gamer System may not have.

And you aren't a sociopath so that's a plus for me!

I see… This system isn't for infinite growth, but more controlled growth instead. I guess that's perfect for me, I don't want to be a conqueror, but I do want to feel the adrenaline. If you're making this hard from the start, then I won't mind.

It will just be sweeter when I take down the big bad.

...Actually do I even want to. We all know the protagonists are going to win anyways.

And what world am I going to.

RWBY, don't want to drop you into Marvel where you'd be even deader.

That's fair, the Grimm will pose enough of a challenge for me.

Alright so do we need to start a character creator?

Thought you'd never ask Contractor.

CC: 1000

[Items] Av. Cost 100

[Appearance] Av. Cost 50

[Skills] Av. Cost 150

[Passives/Traits] Av. Cost 250

[Backstory] Av. Cost 25

[Random Loadout] Av. Cost 1000

Most of these are self-explanatory, but the [Random Loadout] option. What does it do for all of my CC's?

Gives you a random loadout which could be a good or bad thing.

Its a RNG thing, you could get a loadout which costs 3000 CCs or you could get a loadout which only gives you a stick and a bucket of chicken.

Not only that, but it gives you a preselected class and stats as well.

Well that's interesting, but I'm a gambler, so let's roll System!

Loadout Gained [Headshot's Ranger Division]

That seems to work. Glancing around my body I feel a lot taller, I was about 5ft 6in back home, but I grew to about 5ft 10in now. My original black and messy hair has changed to a more dark green short textured cut with faded sides and my eyes now shine with a muted brown.

I look pretty damn good if I say so myself, but the real treasures are my skills and Items.

I now have a backpack with plenty of rations and ammo and my clothing seems to be easy to move in and can camouflage easily in dark forests, well anywhere considering the set is called [Adaptable Camo Set] implying they change colors.

Also on my back is what looks to be a modified sniper rifle and there's a broadsword attached to my hip.

My skills are pretty decent and I got a lot, nothing extraordinary and I also don't know the system in which they're ranked.

[Adaptable Sword-Fighting (4/10)] RK: Novice

[Sniping (13/25)] RK: Apprentice

[First Aid (3/10)] RK: Novice

[Repair (6/10)] RK: Novice

[Building (3/10)] RK: Novice

[Crafting (10/25)] RK: Apprentice

[Sneaking (10/25)] RK: Apprentice

[Appraisal (1/10)] RK: Novice

[Skillful Judgement (3/10)] RK: Novice

This seems too easy if the maximum is 10 or 25… System how are my skills ranked?

Instead of an answer, the system just pulls out a list out of the bright green abyss.

Skill levels are ranked:

(_/1) Learning

(_/10) Novice

(_/25) Apprentice

(_/50) Journeyman

(_/100) Adept

(_/150) Master

(_/200) Grandmaster

Knew it was too easy, but I'll just have to settle for this now. It seems my build is about long range sniping or camping in gamer terms.

Alright let's see if my stats match up as well.

[Nameless]

Race: Human(?)

Class: Survivalist (3/10) Novice

400XP required to level up.

Title: Travelling Hunter

Gives an exp boost when hunting animals.

Alignment: Lawful Neutral

Health: 80 (END per 30 seconds)

Mana: 100 (WIS per minute)

Aura: N/A

STR: 10

END: 8

DEX: 15

INT: 10

WIS: 14

CHA: 11

Passives/Traits:

[Lucky Shot]

Gives a 1% chance to 1 shot kill an enemy, gives 5% chance to deal double damage.

[Quick-Revive]

Increases the rate of improving/learning medical related skills and heals the contractor double the rate.

[Double Tap Karma]

35% chance for any equipped ranged weapon to shoot twice if 4 conditions are met:

is under 15% HP or under 30% AP

has at least two bullets loaded

has higher DEX than target

is under Chaotic or Evil alignment

I take back everything I said about it being too easy. My goddamn passives are great, although [Double Tap Karma] might be underused. My title is only useful in niche situations, but oh well.

My stats are nothing special though, but me not starting at level one is a decent early head start.

I guess I've looked over everything, seeing as how I don't have an inventory. Whew, alright let me breath for a bit. Then bring me to Remnant

Affirmative, you have 5 minutes. Good luck Contractor

Fuck. Should've known I would've fallen on my ass once I got thrown into a bright yellow portal.

What's up with the system and bright colors.

Taking a look at my surroundings I see trees, more trees, and you guessed it. Trees, not to say trees were the only things I saw, there was some wildlife and smoke in the distan…

I should check that out shouldn't I.

I've missed this feeling of running in the woods. As a child I used to play hide and seek with the other kids in town near the creek, I haven't really touched the forest ever since I finished college and this brings out a lot of memories.

Alright focus, thank you [Skillful Judgement] for reeling me in.

Stopping at the outskirts of the town I see it's nearly been destroyed. Looking in more I see a couple Beowolves attempting to tear down what looks to be a police station albeit a small one.

Bringing out my modified sniper rifle, I see that it's already loaded. Good, holding my breath I aim at one Beowolf's head and fire.

As it started to dissipate, I fired twice more killing the other three. With them dead, I finally appraise my sniper rifle to see why I instantly killed them, my jaw drops.

[The Reborn Hunter of Beasts, Hrunting]

Rarity: Mythical

Made by a lost legend and has now been gifted to you.

A uniquely modified sniper rifle which fires .50 Cal rounds, has a scope that zooms in at a max of 12x, and has a special reload mechanism using clips which can reload itself. This turns the sniper rifle into a fully automatic sniper rifle.

Clip Size: 10 Bullets

Special Effect: &$%&)

This unnamed effect gives it a damage multiplier based on your DEX stat.

Damage: 40*(DEX/10) per bullet

Crit Damage: 80*(DEX/10) per bullet

Fuck me, this gun is absolutely bullshit.

Before you bring out your pitchforks, allow me to explain myself. I don't plan for him to steamroll all his enemies. He isn't even that broken in the grand scale of things. He's a slow and methodical sniper while everyone is running around with soul shields sprinting around like crackheads (at least in the earlier fights, the newer fights are slower, but there are still good ones).

Nameless can deal with most low level Grimm pretty effectively, but he can't take down most hunters. Their aura can tank a lot of hits and even with Hrunting he needs to raise his DEX stat for it to be effective against hunters. I'm going to make the lowest amount of aura be around 5000 and with Nameless's current DEX stat, it would take about 84 direct hits if none of his passives active, he doesn't get a headshot or get a random crit.

84 shots will be more than enough time for someone to locate and possibly take him down with his low stats and measly 80 health.

What he does excel at is surviving as he could probably survive for years without visiting a village to resupply and playing dirty.

Most hunters in training probably wouldn't fight dirty, and even proper hunters might not fight dirty, because they're used to fighting Grimm.
