In a field, a lone cocoon hung from a tree branch. It cracked open to reveal Unikitty, who now had a straight pink body with six black legs, two colorful wings, and two antenna in place of her ears. She was now a butterfly. She flittered about the field, doing flips and spins as she flew through the air. She was then joined by many more butterflies who joined her aerial dance as classical music played, "Princess! Princess!" Richard's voice called out from nowhere. This whole scenario turned out to be a daydream made by Unikitty, who was standing in the kitchen with her eyes closed, happily humming to herself. The stove in front of her was billowing out smoke, "Wake up princess, you're going to burn the castle down!" Richard shouted from the doorway.

Unikitty stammered awake and screamed before hiding behind Richard, "Richard, what do we do!?" she asked in panic.

"Here, use this." Richard said while handing Unikitty a fire extinguisher. She took it and threw it at the stove, where it harmlessly bounced off, causing Richard to look at her with an annoyed expression. The stove then caught fire, causing Unikitty to run over and try blowing out the fire. At that moment, Ted Butter ran in with a fire hose and a hat with a siren on it. He aimed at the burning stove and turned on the hose, only to start spraying water into Unikitty's mouth. She then bloated up with water before falling over and putting out the fire with her body. This caused her to shrink and shrivel up, all blackened and charred. Richard then picked her up with a spatula, "Princess, let's have ourselves a talk." he said while walking away with her.

In the living room, Richard and Unikitty sat at the coffee table, with Unikitty being back to her normal size, "Princess, you've been zoning out constantly lately. It's like you're distracted by something. What is it?" Richard asked.

"Well... I've been thinking-" Unikitty started to say before being interrupted by Richard.

"We need to get you thinking about responsibility!" Richard said while floating in front of Unikitty's face.

"Richard, I've been thinking of giving up my worldly possessions and live a free life among the butterflies." Unikitty explained.

Richard backed up and started to chuckle. He then brought Unikitty into the throne room, "Princess, you wouldn't last one day out in the wild. This, is your natural habitat." he said, referring to the whole room, "This is your wide open spaces." he gestured to the kingdom outside, "This is your territory." he gestured to the throne, "And this is your golden scepter, for which you rule!" Richard said while grabbing a scepter from behind the throne and holding it aloft. "Now that's better than being with the butterflies, huh Princess? Princess?" Richard asked, noticing that Unikitty had left the room. He then walked out the front door, "Princess, wait!" he called out before noticing a note on the floor that read 'Goodbye,' "Oh, she'll be back alright, she'll be back." Richard mused.

Later that day, Unikitty and a few others had gathered outside the kingdom limits, "Master Frown, I want you to have my can opener." she said while handing over the tool.

"And here I thought this friendship would last." Master Frown said sarcastically while walking away.

Puppycorn walked up to her holding a jar of peanut butter, "Are-are-are you sure you want me to have this peanut butter?" he asked sadly with tears in his eyes.

"All yours." she said.

He then pulled out a stack of books, "And these filled-in coloring books?" he asked.

"All yours little bro." she said while walking off and coming back with another item, "Puppycorn, there's something else that I want you to have." What she brought back was a black case with the words, 'Ol' Reliable' written on it. She opened it up to reveal a butterfly net.

Puppycorn gasped at the net and dropped the coloring books, picking up the net afterwards, "Ol' Reliable." he said while crying.

"Hey everyone!" Dr. Fox said while walking up, "Unikitty, are you having a swap meet or something?" she asked.

"No Doc, I'm giving up all my worldly possessions so that I can live a free life among the butterflies." Unikitty said.

"Why would you want to live with the butterflies? They're beautiful, sure, but they're also boring and are horrible conversationalists." Dr. Fox explained.

"Oh, Dr. Fox. That's just what people tell themselves to justify not seeing them for how beautiful they really are." Unikitty said while patting Dr. Fox on the head. She then walked off and stood facing the fields in front of her, "Well, I won't be needing these." she said while taking off her ears, horn, and tail before throwing them towards her friends. She then stuck a pair of fake antennae and wings to herself and waved to her friends, "Farewell everyone! Flutter! Flutter! Flutter!" she said while running off.

"I'll give her one hour to survive." Dr. Fox said.

"I'll give her eleven minutes." Master Frown said. Both he and Dr. Fox walked off, leaving Puppycorn alone with the net.

"Puppycorn sad!" he cried out.

Meanwhile, Unikitty reached a sign that had, 'Butterfly Fields' written on it. She rubbed it with a paw, "I'm... home. I'm home! I'm home, I'm home, I'm home!" she chanted as she ran through the field. She was then passed by a swarm of butterflies who flew right over her, "Wait, my brethren!" she called out before running after them. She followed them to a part of the field with many flowers, "Wow, a good chance to mingle." she said, walking over to a butterfly who was drinking nectar out of one of the flowers, "Hi there, I'm ButterKitty, and you are?" she asked. The butterfly simply looked at her and went back to drinking, "Nice to meet you." Unikitty said awkwardly. A familiar smell then caught Unikitty's attention, causing her to drool a bit. It took her to a small cliff edge, where she found Dr. Fox and Puppycorn having a picnic below her.

Dr. Fox pulled out an ice pop from their picnic basket and handed it to Puppycorn, "Here Puppycorn, have an ice pop." she said. Puppycorn just looked at it sadly, causing Dr. Fox to lean in and whisper to him, "There she is Puppycorn, say your line."

Puppycorn pulled out a piece of paper and read from it, "Why, thank you Doc. I would love one, take ice pop." he read sadly as he took the ice pop, "Too bad Unikitty isn't here, these are her favorites. I sure wish she'd come home. Take bite." He opened his mouth to take a bite out of the ice pop, but ended up throwing both it and his script away, "I can't do it! Unikitty, come back!" he called out.

"Puppycorn, I'm not coming home." Unikitty said.

"But, I miss you! Dr. Fox misses you!" he said while Dr. Fox waved awkwardly, "And even Master Frown misses you!" This was not true however, for Master Frown was currently hosting a small party at his apartment. Brock was working a turntable while Master Frown danced to festive music while wearing a party hat.

"I'm happy here. This is my home now." Unikitty said before walking away.

"Noooooooo! Unikitty!" Puppycorn yelled as Dr. Fox dragged him away.

Back at the flower beds, Unikitty flew in while flapping her fake wings, "Hey, everybody! I'm back!" she announced before doing a few spins, "Hey, I think I'm getting the hang of this." she mused. The butterflies then flew away before a net came swinging at Unikitty, which she dodged narrowly. The net turned out to be Ol' Reliable, which was gripped by an angry Puppycorn. He glared at Unikitty while breathing heavily. "Puppycorn, what are you doing!?" she asked.

Puppycorn sniffled as his eyes watered, "If I can't have you as a sister... I'm gonna make you a trophy!" he said before pulling out a jar which had a label that said, 'Unikitty - My Sister,' "I even made this nice jar for you."

"Puppycorn, leave me alone! I'm a butterfly now!" Unikitty shouted before Puppycorn swung the net at her, causing her to fly away. Puppycorn gave a sad war cry while Unikitty stopped under a arched rock formation to catch her breath.

"OK, maybe if I just explain to him calmly-" she started to say before she noticed Puppycorn on the roof of the formation.

"I got you now, sis." he said menacingly before falling off the formation towards her. Unikitty flew away, causing him to fall to the ground. Unikitty the hid inside of a hold inside a tree trunk, while Puppycorn swung the net at it in a desperate attempt to catch her. After a few more tries, he broke down in tears, "OK, if this is the life you really want. I hope you're happy!" he said before breaking the net and walking off while crying.

Unikitty watched him go before breathing a sigh of relief, "Glad that's over, back to butterfly matters." she said right before a drop of nectar dropped on her nose. She dipped her paw in it and licked it, "Mmm, nectar." She then started to take more nectar and eat it. During this time, the butterfly swarm were making their way back to the tree that Unikitty was in, who was now covered in nectar, "Ah, it seems my butterfly brethren are returning." she said before they flew in, "Greetings comrades!" Suddenly, some fighting sounds came from inside the tree, along with Unikitty screaming in pain. She then flew out of the tree, the butterflies attacking her with various mob equipment as she fled.

That night, Unikitty sadly sat inside of a cave. She was covered in bruises and scrapes, one of her antennae was ripped off and her wings were tattered, "Being a butterfly sure is fun. Flutter, flutter, flutter." she weakly said as she grabbed a large leaf from a bush and used it as a blanket as she laid down. She then sat up and started scratching herself, "Ooh, itchy! Itchy, why am I so itchy?" she asked as she lifted the leaf from off of her, revealing a bunch of spiders crawling on her body. The sight of this caused her to scream, "Spiders!" she yelled as she scratched them off in various ways, even going so far as to rub her body across the ground.

Unikitty eventually decided to return to Unikingdom later that evening, her fur now blue. She sadly walked through the streets, having abandoned her wings and antennae, "Flutter, flutter, flutter..." she said when she walked by an ice cream store, which had ice pops standing in the window, "Ice pops." she said as she stuck her head against the window. She then walked past another store with science supplies in the window, "Flutter, flutter... Dr. Fox." She eventually made her way to the front door of her castle, "Flutter, flutter... What have I done? I had a good life and friends and I gave all that up." she said as she opened the door, which led into the throne room.

Once inside, the lights went on, revealing a party has been thrown in her honor. Gathered there were Puppycorn, Dr. Fox, Hawkodile, Richard, Brock, and even Master Frown (who obviously didn't want to be there.), "WELCOME HOME PRINCESS!" they all cheered, save for Master Frown.

Unikitty lit up with happiness as she joined them, "Wow, thanks guys! I was such a fool, please forgive me?" she asked.

"Ah, quit the apologies and have an ice pop." Hawkodile said while handing her one.

"Don't mind if I do." she said while taking it and licking it.

"And, everyone will be looking forward to you helping them first thing tomorrow morning." Richard said.

"Yay!" Unikitty cheered.

"Uh, Unikitty? Do us all a favor?" Master Frown said while handing over her discarded parts.

"Alright." Unikitty said before taking the parts and putting them on herself, "Ta-da!" she exclaimed before hugging Master Frown.

"OK, that's enough." he said, right before everyone there joined in on the hug, including Pet Pet, "Can we please stop this?"

Puppycorn's eyes suddenly lit up in surprise, "Puppycorn itchy!" he said before staring to scratch himself, followed by everyone doing the same thing. This led to everyone realizing they were itchy as well and roll around on the floor.

"It is good to be home!" Unikitty said.
