Prologue

'I found myself floating in a sea of nothingness… I don't feel my body, or at least, I don't think I do… my eyes don't perceive anything, although if they did, they wouldn't have anything to perceive… I wonder how I got here… wait, who even am I?!

'"Ah, you're awake," a voice rang out, seemingly from everywhere at once. It was an old voice, burdened by millennia of experiences.

'"What is this?! Where am I?!" I shouted as I tried to wrestle back control over my limbs. However, they just wouldn't respond, as if they weren't there.

'"Relax. You won't be going anywhere for a long while either way." the voice responded, actively mocking my attempts at moving.

'"I'll do whatever I want! For I am… Argh, I can't remember!"
"Of course you don't. You don't remember anything. But you will soon. For now, why not entertain yourself with this show I've put up for you?"
My first reaction would be to cuss him out and continue trying to move my body. However, after what felt like an eternity of trying, I didn't make a single advancement in that direction. Eventually, it started getting harder and harder to stay conscious.

'"Fine. I'll watch this show of yours."

'"Excellent! I knew you'd come around eventually."
"Whatever. Just something to play in the background while I collect what little memories I have left."

'"By the way," the voice asked, "do you remember your own name, or are you too far gone?"

As he spoke, a screen popped up in front of me. It played an opening to something that can only be described as a typical shounen anime. An annoyingly catchy tune, a quick showing of who's who, and everything. The vision had already started to blur as I responded:

'"My name… Yeah, I think I remember. My name is…"'
